Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday, June 2nd

Good Morning. Coffee’s on. Was waiting for Shirl to get it going , but guess she’s sleeping in this morning  it’s sunny and 59° here this morning, heading to another warm day. Brie another heat record yesterday with 90°. That’s 2 days in a row so far.

Nothing much on the agenda today. Run vac and wash the windows on back side of house while it’s cool this morning. Need to run to town to pick up Molly’s eye drops at the pharmacy and gas up the truck from yesterday’s ride over to see if I could find that Amish place I was looking for. Martha, there is just a small community of them over there, but hey do have a bakery  Also want to stop and get new set of mower blades for my lawn tractor. They really take a beating from the rough ground and mowing here and the sub entrance. The POA just paid me my annual stipend :) Need to water the flowers too.

Barbie, glad to hear that McKenzie is adjusting so well. I think it’s the perfect name too. Carol, hope Bill gets to where he has more good days than bad. Wiil keep you both in my prayers.

So best get going here. Have a nice day.

Morning Sue and All, sunny 62°> 82° air quality alert. Something new to scare you. Having one of those can’t get it together. Porch friend had a restless night, wonder if the weather is cause my fog. Lol. went to farmers market yesterday and had fresh mushrooms for dinner. First of the month so vinegar and baking soda down all drains and vinegar through the coffee marker. When the fog clears will remember what other chores. Watched a documentary about Elizabeth Friedman the code breaker, such an amazing woman. Enjoy following everyone’s new projects. Be safe

Good early afternoon! Been a crazy morning here. It started out as a nice coolish morning and we were going for a walk but got a phone call and had to spend time taking care of that. I’m trying to get an appointment with another group of ENT’s and it seems to take time and paperwork for the referral so been trying to work that out. By then it was already getting too warm to consider the walk in the heat so maybe later today if we get the rain we might or might not get! It may cool things down. Maybe! I’ve also been in touch with the trainer for Buddy and mostly, I’m sure for me! Meanwhile I keep working with him as best I can! I need to get some plants for my urns on my front steps. I’v decided I’m not going to try to put anything new in back until Buddy gets out of the digging and whatnot! They’re saying we are going to have a very dry and much hotter summer so don’t need to have plants that need water all the time. I see a water restriction in our future since it has happened before. I went to the bigger grocery store in town yesterday and was shocked at the prices. I haven’t done a “big” shopping trip for quite awhile so it was a big eye opener! I was out of a bunch of things that I use all the time but don’t have to buy all the time. So today I think I’ll try to get the small air unit in my bedroom window so I can sleep at night. I would love to open windows but I also don’t need all the dust and pollens in the house. And living on a main road there is a lot of road dirt flying all the time! Guess the pollen’s just a bonus! Not much else happening here today. Love hearing about all the gardens you all are planting. Thank goodness for the Amish markets where I can get fresh produce when it’s in season. Barbie, how exciting you have a new fur baby to enjoy. So off to play with the air unit! Have a great day and stay safe!

I sure enjoy reading about some of you getting sprinkler systems set up and plantings/gardens in the ground. My small deck can only take containers and only a small number. Each year I try to squeeze in an additional one or two. Some are blooming nicely and others are almost there. I love to sit out there because my 4 bird feeders are hanging in a tree just on the other side of the deck railing. I’ve been using my new bird app that identifies birds by their sounds/songs. I also take it on my walks with the dogs. So far it has identified 51 different kinds of birds in less than 2 miles from home. Here are a few pictures of my deck plants.

This Mandevilla will eventually cover a lot of the railing. Last summer our association had the whole development repainted. This required removing everything from our decks. The Mandevilla was completely covering the railing and was in full bloom. I tried keeping many plants in my garage with some grow lights. It worked to a certain extent, but the Mandevilla is almost starting over now.

The bougainvillea is coming back. In a month it should be full and beautiful.

I’ve really come to love succulents.

Good afternoon barely...Just came in for some lunch, it is supposed to be 77 today but I got super hot as I was working in the sun. Got my front circles weeded, new soil added and my Peony plant in the ground. Added some compost and will fertilize those next week. I really enjoy the flowers and garden plants. So far things seem to be doing well. I even have a few blossoms on my tomato plants....a good sign I hope.

Sandi your flowers are gorgeous, I hope mine do well as they got such a late start due to our cool weather. I am eager but they have only been in the ground for about 2 weeks. And our weather has not been real hot, I think that is a good thing. I deep watered everything today as we are now moving into the 80's this week. Made a taco salad for lunch, didnt want anything heavy, now munching on some watermelon and relaxing.

Sandi, your flowers are beautiful. You certainly have a green thumb too. I too enjoy seeing pictures of everybody’s flower and garden attempts. It will be a while before mine get them selves, fully establish, and going into a blooming fit. I just planted them this past Sunday. But here is the picture of the planter box that I know some of you have been waiting for and I finally got my raccoon repaired and pulled out their bed. Like I said it will be a while before replies start to really get going. I have some woodcut flowers that I painted this winter and I might attach them to that box and dress it up a bit more.

I did get the vacuming done and the windows washed in the cool of the morning. It actually wound up being a whole house window washing and while I had the hose, I hosed the house off as i went along. I gave the House a bath with Mold Armor these past two summers and decided that this year doesn’t need it. That stuff really takes off the dirt and grime and everything else. So another spring chore done. And gasses up my truck, got gas for the mower and Molly’s eye drops.

Now just relaxing in the heat of the late afternoon. Bit of a breeze coming through the house. But humidity is very low. The

Sandi, your flowers are wonderful! I love seeing what others are planting to get ideas. I'm going to have to go buy groceries one of these days so maybe I'll add succulents and cactus to my other list!

Rabbits was said at midnight on the first and so far so good. My Anchorage grandson called yesterday to chat! This morning a knock on the door. Another neighbor from the last place that has moved here. I only met him briefly before, but the Slingshot gave me away and he remembered my name. My mail was delivered to his box! No informed delivery notice and it was a check! Whew! Some how B111 became A101. :?:

We are in the 80s and headed for 90s, but all can change. Carol, I'm interested in those new 'cheaper' hearing aids, too. Haven't read any reviews yet. Sorry Bill is having a rough time and I know it's hard on you as well. Sue, another cute project! Lyn, you have me watching University of Washington softball! :) Brenda, nice to see your post!

Unpacking continues. Kitchen is pretty well together, but otherwise I jump from one thing to another. Unloading photo albums, books and genealogy today so many empty boxes! :)

I would think those new hearing aids would be good for many. Luckily the few I talked to admitted they can't help my hearing loss. But I give them kudos for admitting that. Some of them have money back guarantees, so if you think you might need them, go to Sam's club or Costco and get your hearing tested and get a copy of your loss. Then check around.

Busy here today and should be somewhat busy again tomorrow. At least that makes the day go faster.

Time for Ty and I to get some of our steps in to fulfill my commitment to St. Jude's. I've already walked a mile plus today, but I committed that Ty and I would and will not disappoint my supporters who are contributing to St. Jude! So off we go. Probably won't do the whole mile now (it's hot) but we'll do another walk sometime later.

It was 90 again here too plus we have an air quality alert! I guess from the fires but we are a long way from them. I didn't sleep well last nigh and talked to a friend who said she didn't either, We are blaming the moon.
Sharon, Pippa said she would give Buddy some tips on training cause she had me trained in record time. Sandi your flowers are lovely. What is the name of the app you have that identifies birds by their song?

The name of the app is Merlin Bird ID. It’s quite a lot of fun. A lot of times I can’t see the birds, but the app identifies them by their song or sound. This morning it identified a White-tail Kite and I got a pic of it flying and in its nest.

Good evening gals!

Things are still going well with McKenzie. She is meowing a little more and playful. Doing more exploring around the house. Romeow keeps inching a little closer to her enclosure when she is in there. Still a little growling and hissing on her part but I think she is starting to get more used to seeing him. I put some wet food down for each of them about 4 feet apart (her inside her enclosure) and they ignored each other while eating. Baby steps...

Finally got my new phone. Am in the process of activating it now. Then work on transferring data from the old one to the new one. That could be a challenge (for me anyways) so am hoping it goes smoothly.

I had my bedroom window open last night because it was cool outside and felt really nice. Not much breeze so I had the fan on for a bit. I hope it stays this way for awhile. I can handle warmer temps during the day if it cools off nicely at night.

I got approved with the live scan so I called the temp service and let them know I am officially available on Monday for work. I am getting so lazy now with nothing to do (other than a lot of laundry and housecleaning  ) so am hoping I get more motivated once I start working again. That is usually how it works for me. I work better with time constraints.

Need to find some dinner and watch my TV show and let McKenzie out for a bit.

Love all the gardening talk and photos! Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

It got up to 96 today and it was still in the 90's at 7:00. I only did half of my walk because my back was hurting. Don't know what is causing that. I almost forgot I needed to go get Sugar's pills at the vet. Made a fast trip to the vet's office and picked up two bags of cat food at the feed store. I don't want to have to get cat food next week when I'm trying to get ready to go camping. I vacuumed and had to dump the cat hair twice. It's like the cartoon on Facebook, I don't know how I still have any cat left.

Sandi, your flowers are beautiful. I have a Bougainvillea but it's all leaves and no flowers. I thought I had killed it over the winter but it has come back. Just hope it blooms. I was going to water the roses late this afternoon but forgot.

I have to go bring my son some mail to Lafayette tomorrow. I hope everyone in Lafayette isn't on the road.
