Sunday April 23

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday April 23

Postby Shirlv » Sun Apr 23, 2023 8:13 am

Morning All, 57° and sunny. Big drop in temperature after the storm. Lots of rain and wind gave the balcony a good washing. Nothing scary. I had a long winded speech about the negativity in the world, you know how I get, but will just go play in dirt. Karen do you have the window rolled down and the music blaring. Lol Beth, life is too short, get a gallon of paint and give your casita a face lift. Lol They don’t make them like us anymore that’s why it’s a sorry old world.

And that's the truth, Shirl and Anne. And my Casita could use some loving care if I had enough time there.

Turned cold here overnight. Was 33 outside when I planned on getting up. Needless to say Ty and I are still under the covers as it now says 41 and feels like 34. At some point we'll get into the 50's, or so it says. I wasn't prepared for this lol. I've suggested we get up but Ty looked at me and snuggled back under the covers. I know he'll feel different when I get his breakfast. I'm just not sure how long this walk will be.

Already well into 70's here and sun is bright! Switched system from heater to AC, so when hall temp creeps up, it can come on amd counter the warm. Will listen to church and do some reading, walk on treadmill. Maybe dance. Work on my goal in decluttering. That should take care of my Sunday.

Good morning!

Gloomy day here after a beautiful day yesterday. Karen will be busy learning about all the bells and whistles on the new ride! Beth, such a shame a person is casting a bad vibe on what should be a totally pleasurable time there. I always stressed when starting a new job.

I have started getting things out to pack for the trip, but I seem to be dragging my feet. The kids took me to a Japanese restaurant for a belated birthday dinner last night. Who knew we would laugh so much! Surprisingly, very few of the workers were Asian. We shared a table with 4 others including a young girl. The chef surprised the heck out of us. I'm sure many wouldn't approve of his antics with Saki and food, but we all rolled with the flow and had a great time. It was good to socialize. This area is greening up and yellow flowers (don't remember what they are) have sprouted on the hills. Orchards will be blooming while I'm gone. The large white tents for migrant workers have been set up at one the Wenatchee parks. River rafters were out yesterday going by the kids' house. It must be Spring! And the first bear has been spotted!

It has turned cold here too, well it feels cold compared to the near 80 degree weather we had. There is another frost warning tonight. But the strawberries are ripe and the country store opened yesterday. with shortcake and biscuits plus ice cream if you want for sale :) :) I plan to go tomorrow as it will be too crazy today. I always buy extra biscuits to put in the freezer as they as especially good. I'm feeling a bit smug with myself as I was able to uninstall the Zoom app I had and replace it with the one that works with my new computer. I kept getting a message when I tried to log onto zoom this morning that said I needed to download something called Rosetta to get Zoom. Well I googled Rosetta and it said not to download it, that if my computer had an Apple M1 chip I should download a different version of Zoom and I did it!! No need for Rosetta!
Anita I remember sharing tables in CA long ago and always thought it a good idea. Everyone was so friendly I enjoyed it. So happy you all had a good time. Now get packing! :).
Shirl I share your frustration with negativity in the world. Beth I hope it warms up there and the grouchy lady will have a character redo. Karen enjoy your new car!

Just got back from a 2 hr. leisurely walk in the woods. The dogs enjoyed time off their leashes. They even got Into a bit of a chase each other session just before it as time to leash them for the final stretch to home. Molly who has been limping from arthritis in her left elbow was playing like a puppy. It made me happy to see her, enjoying it so much. A couple of years or so ago they would be chasing each other up and down that two track zumpteen times. But now they are getting older and that kind of stuff is gradually slowing down. They still enjoy those walks in the woods. This is the first time we have been out there since the snow melted. With the mild winter that we were having until about March, we were out there a couple of times in the winter. Temperature is 37° with a Wi d chill of about 21°. But it was nice walking in the woods because the trees stopped the breeze. And I was wearing my wind pants and my windproof winter coat too.
Normal highs high for this time of year should be in the upper 50s, so we are definitely below normal. In fact, it was snowing this morning but it didn’t stick. there was a light dusting on the trees and the rooftops last night.
The
Shirl, I knew you were kidding about the renting, but that comment has brought some interesting discussion here. You are right though, in that that we are the only ones who seem to have any sense these days.

Beth, I don’t think I would put up with that Director’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality very little g. Especially being a volunteer. If you decide to walk away from it, nobody’s going to be the wiser except you. It’s something you don’t even have to put down on your résumé for a future volunteer job or something. After screwing around with the the management last year at the motel and that one employee, I think enough is enough. Maybe that campground in the UP would have been a better fit.

Guess , I should start getting supper together. Beef liver with some onions on the agenda today, although I am going to keep some liver out away from the onions, because the dogs can have some of it. now they are zonked out, but they will be wide awake when they smell that liver cooking.

Good luck on your first day tomorrow, Barbie.

Want to set the record straight. 1#daughter said container of Sam’s coconut cake might have said $30 but she paid $18. Price is still outrageous but better. Had to post before. I forget. Didn’t want to spread a lie.

Karen hasn’t posted. Is she still riding around

Shirl ha ha ha No I am home. Had a good time up at Laura's house. Went up yesterday and the dog stayed at her house with her dog. We left and went for lunch then moseyed over to the Car Dealership. Got a decent deal on the car I really wanted. The other one that I picked out at the other dealers was way more expensive and had a panoramic moonroof that I had no interest in as I didnt use the one I "just had to have" in my Equinox but the car itself was just what I wanted. This one was way less expensive and didn't have the moonroof. I think I only opened mine about twice in 14 years LOL I let Laura drive it home to her house and she liked it too. I think I will be happy. It is shorter than my other one, and way less cargo area but I can put the seats down if I want and that would suffice. I dont need alot anyway. I drove home today and it was great . Very smooth riding, quiet and plenty of zip/ Love the color. So yup I am happy. Just have to tackle the technology stuff. Got 3 years of OnStar for free (so to speak) which has wifi AND works with Alexa. How can I go wrong. Also got SiriusXM . I will take some pics as soon as I can get one in the sunshine. This isnt the best pic but it was right while they were washing and spiffing it for me to take home.

I am watching the clock so I don't forget and end up staying up too late tonight. Retirement is over... :(

I went out this morning and got the gas tank filled and a badly needed car wash. The Stop Leak I used a couple weeks ago worked pretty good but there was still a tiny bit of antifreeze leaking, so I put the rest of what I had in the radiator today. Hope that will do the trick for awhile.

Went to WM and got some things I need for lunches and a couple other things. I can't believe I came home without any chocolate!! :o I still get sticker shock while shopping, but I think I mentioned before that I used to buy a frozen box of cheese sticks for $1.25 and then they shot up to $4.50 about a month ago. Well, I guess no one else was willing to buy them either at that price and I saw today, they are back down to $1.25! I got 2 boxes. It wasn't a misprint on the price at my local WM since all 3 WM stores had them priced with the same high price. I might just make some tonight.

I need to put my stuff together for tomorrow so I don't have to figure it all out then while I am half asleep in the morning. Gotta wash my hair tonight too since I surely won't have time to do that in the morning. Luckily, with this job, I don't have to look great since I will be wearing a hairnet, mask, gloves and a lab coat. So no need for makeup. Just get up, grab something to eat, grab my lunch and go! I will leave about 5:15am to make sure I get there in plenty of time. It actually only takes about 25 minutes to get there but just for the first day I want to be there early. I doubt I will have any traffic to deal with at that time.

Hoping my headache and jitters will be gone when I am done with my first day there.

Karen, nice ride! Enjoy!

Have a good rest of your day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Very nice, Karen. I'm glad you're happy with it. I miss having a moonroof. I especially used it a lot to open when I had any dogs in the car and ran on a store, etc. But when I got my current car I got a great deal and didn't want to keep looking and pay more. It wasn't a deal breaker. :D

Boy did I keep busy today. I did laundry, including the mattress cover (not as hard to remove as I remembered, but we will not discuss the length of time to put it back on!), all bedding, the couch cover, all clothes, etc. I have the user of one washer and dryer here. Good perk, but I only use it on Sundays or after 5 pm and I prefer having it done earlier, so Sunday it will remain. This was unusual for so many loads. I also struggled and turned over my mattress. Another thing we won't discuss how long I took lol

As to the job, I'm going to listen at the meeting Tuesday and unless she really upsets me I'll make it through the next week. There are things I want to do in the area yet, so I'll suck it up until I've done them, then, unless there's a dramatic change, I'll give notice. I won't do that sooner and take a chance I'll be told to leave immediately. Shirl hit the nail on the head about the Casita. Lots there I could do and I won't mind the extra time there at all.

Beth you don't have your casita in the rental pool do you? Just in case you need it...
like your car Karen it's really pretty...
I bought a cake for my birthday didn't think anyone else would and besides that I really like the cake ... it cost me 15 they did get a cake so we ate the one that nephew and niece brought over and then they came the next night for cake and ice cream the one that I bought... I've picked up single size of this cake several times but dang haven't see it for several trips to the store... I keep looking
went to church then after church did a zoom for my cousin and her husbands church as they were talking and wanted to hear it Zoom is a good thing
have been working on a scarf for the great granddaughter... decided today that it was just too wide for her.... so ripped out a lot... hated doing it but think a few stitches smaller would be good... did get the two rows on grandson's afghan and it all worked out... I'm happy about that now to decide on the next color...
sounds like the dogs enjoyed their walk always good to see them enjoy their walk... I watched a video on the internet a few years ago and it showed an elk just really enjoying a small pond it just made one smile...
snow is melting rain is predicted and then snow during the night starting tomorrow guess we will see... how ever we still have more than last year and so far haven't heard of bears being out of their den's last year some went to den in December and out in Feb... this year they went in earlier and so far still in den except up in Yellowstone some reported out up there...
good luck with your job tomorrow Barbie

Checking in again on my way to bed. Shirl, I'll post the pic you emailed me tomorrow. Sheila, yes it's in the rental pool. I only need to give 7 days notice before returning. Barbie, I hope this job works out well for you.
