Morning. Partly cloudy and 45° here at tbe 45th. Sun is trying to peak out, but clouds are moving in. We have had sun and 4 days of record breaking hot Westher. Temps have been in the mid 80’s. Over 30 degrees above normal. Tomorrow back to normal for the most part, 40’s and 50’s. Snow/rain in forecast by Monday with showers and T-Storm later tomorrow and snow accumulations by Monday night. We need the moisture. Been under Red Flag Fire Warning for 3 days. What snow there was is gone and with the Sandy soil up here, the ground is very dry. The ice is out of the lakes as well.

I spent a short bit of time cleaning up the wInter yard debris and now have been tracing and cutting wood patterns. Spending some time on these hot afternoons painting them. Took a a break yesterday to do some bumming and shopping in town. Picking up little stuff for the emergency go bag. Need to order some collapsible dog bowls and next week pick up some food stuff to store in the shelter room. Somebody asked awhile back if I was going to put a comfty chair or whatever down there and the answer is no. Don’t want anything that might get wet down there.

Been reading all the different things you all are dong. Shirl, your bean saga gave me a laugh. I like Bush’s Baked Beans in the can. I keep some of the small cans in the cupboard. Mom used to make really good baked beans. She had and I still do, have a really good heavy crock baking dish for making them. Martha, Great Northern dried beans are usually used for making baked beans. Beth, you sound like you aren’t overly thrilled with your current job. Shelia, glad you got home safely. And Karen got a day to work outside, LOL. Constant rainy days can get boring I know. Carol, I’m with the others about Bill. He just has to do what he has to do and quit whining. Don’t envy you.

Need to get cleaned up, dressed for the day and get busy. Want to run recycles up to the bin, then take leaf blower over and clean up the POA walking path between the two roads. Then see what else I get I to today. Kind of in a mood for a ride, so shall see. Have a great day.

Morning Sue and All, cloudy, 70° and very humid. The beans are a complete flop. Cooking to try and soften the beans resulted in diminished sauce. The sauce was very good but the great northern beans were not prepared properly so a disaster. I will try again. I need to have a challenge and scratch recipes fill the bill. The weather is now so unpredictable that I question what to plant on the balcony. Do I want to make the headlines “Elderly woman airborne during high wind clutching huge tomato plant”. Just boring necessary chores today. Be safe

HOLY SMOKES, Sue!! It hasn't got to the mid-80's yet here in Northern California, and we will often have our first 100-degree day by April 1!!

Stay cool, - I am hoping that this summer remains relatively cool - it would be a relief from the last few summers we have had here.

Bright, sunny day again here in Apache Junction.
Thanks for the replies to possible routes to the PNW. I actually met up with a friend from grade & high school and her husband yesterday that have a 5th wheel and live near Phoenix. They go to Oregon at least every other year, so they have new some good ideas, some of which you had.

Problem is now it may be too late to get reservations. I guess Oregon SPs can be booked 9 months in advance and they fill up fast. So I'll see if I can get any reservations, even in resorts, that I'm not a fan of them. I like to stay places for a week for sightseeing, so singing it is not possible. Options may be stay more east this year, maybe try to see Sheila again, and try next year since I'll be back this way for a wedding. Thanks for the help. I saved your ideas.

Not much else happening, but Alice is coming or for a visit today. We may take a ride to look for the wild horses.

Well Phooey.........clouds are back, no sun yet. Rain predicted for the next week starting tomorrow. Will finish cutting up my branches to bag and then will take cardboard and yard debris and get rid of that. Guess maybe I better dig out one of my jigsaw puzzles for this coming week since I wont be planting.

Making a stuffed chicken breast today. Thinking in either the crockpot or the instantpot. Need to check recipes.

Shirl! Keep your feet on the ground please!

It is calm and sunny this morning. Birds are singing and it is cool so far. We got to 98* the other day but will be in the 80's this weekend.

I got a bunch of paperwork emailed to me yesterday afternoon for the new job. Had to go thru lots of pages and do e-signatures on them. Finally got thru all that just after 6pm. They will now send me info on when my start date is. Obviously it won't be on Monday but probably sometime next week. There will be 8 of us newbies starting so that makes me feel less pressure to get up to speed right away with the ones who have been working there for awhile.

I also went on line to pay my property taxes yesterday. I thought I had a few more days to pay them before the deadline (I misplaced the bill when cleaning up this place ). Turns out it was due on around the 12th of April so now I will have to pay the late fee. However, I tried to pay on line, which I always do, but for some reason, I couldn't get to the right screen for awhile. When I finally found it, It said to click on "pay", but there was no "pay" button anywhere to click on! I then tried calling the number to just pay over the phone, but after putting in my information, I got a message that they are not taking phone payments right now. I was getting SO frustrated with all of it that I just put down my laptop and took a nap. I can't understand why I am having so many issues with these websites I am trying to use lately! Is it the internet, my computer, or me?? Just having bad luck with everything lately. I know some of it is my fault (microwave for instance ), but not all of it. I get so frustrated!

Anyways, I need to get some things done today and watch some golf.

It stormed again this morning and I got another inch of rain. The radar shows a big area of rain in the Gulf but it looks like it's headed East. I had to sit in the kitchen with Sugar and Possie while it stormed. I had never noticed that the weather bothered Possie. I don't know if she learned it from Sugar but she has been through a few hurricanes. If my book with my recipes had been in the kitchen I thought about making the cookies I like. The cookies made with the cake mix were ok but were more cake like. I like crunchy cookies.

Yesterday when Sugar and I went out for her walk the cats had left a dead bird in her yard. Thank goodness I saw it before she did and put it in the trash. She would have eaten it feathers and all. She is still looking for it. She would have probably made a good drug dog but she would have wanted to eat the drugs.

There is a seafood and wild game cook-off fundraiser going on at the state park today. Those people probably got pretty wet. This park is so popular that it's hard to get into some weekends. They are auctioning off one site for the Halloween weekend. All the other sites are booked for Halloween. They usually give prizes for the best decorations.

I don't know what I'll do this afternoon. I need to find something in the freezer to cook for tomorrow. I'm out of leftovers.

Barbie, I'm having problems with some sites too after the last update to my Apple computer. I usually use Safari. If I'm having a problem with something I can switch over to Chrome and the site will work. I don't know enough about computers to figure out what's going on. I have looked it up online and I'm not the only one having the problems.

Cloudy out still but had a couple of small sun breaks. A bit of a breeze now too so I know the storm is moving in. Got all my tree branches cut and bagged up, loaded the cardboard in the car and the bags and got rid of them this morning. Came home, just finished lunch now having a hot mocha and relax for a bit. I got my 10000 steps in yeasterday. And this morning I wasnt even hurting so that is good. Going to go out in a bit and pull the weeds out of my planter containers. So not many steps there but that is fine as long as I get some stuff accomplished. Henry vacuumed this morning so I dusted my bedroom and cleaned my bathroom. He has tomorrow off LOL

Shirl, thanks for the visual and the chuckle! Up, up and away! Sheila, I finally recalled you mentioning a good bakery in Port Angeles. Nothing came to mind so I did a Google. None of them are any I have ever heard of before! Guess I'll have to ask around! Weather is a mixture of clouds and sun. Made a Walmart trip and will not go into how much I hate not being able to use self-checkout! This store has 20 item limit. I would have done pick-up but needed to find a pair of shoes that look dressy.

Anita, the Walmarts around here haven't started the 20 item limit yet. If they start that they better get more cashiers. The Walmart I go to in Lafayette has been a mess for months. They moved all the shelves around and took out the self checkouts with the long counters making it a PITA to checkout if you have a lot because there is no place to put things. I will only use it if my son is with me. He gets another basket to load things into. That Walmart is very busy and they only have 2 or 3 cashiers there too. I guarantee if you save any money at Walmart you earn it.

There is a cold front that is suppose to come through tonight with more storms. There are severe thunderstorm warnings in Texas and North Louisiana. I don't like night storms. Hope it goes North of here. It was 87 today and suppose to be 46 when the cold front comes thru.

Been really lazy lately and having problems getting myself in gear. Yesterday, I realized I had forgotten to file the local income tax for the city I supposedly live in in Ohio. It's really a small amount, and normally I file it with my regular taxes, but completely forgot this year. Anyway, filled out online form late last night and found I am getting more than $500 back. My big problem this year (2022) is that it is the first year I had no teaching income, so I have had difficulty estimating taxes based on past years. Obviously, I paid too much is estimated taxes for local, so happy to get money back and wish I had filed them earlier. Also got birthday gifts over to local post office and got it mailed for three birthdays in April and May. Whew.

Today, I accomplished driving over to the dump station and dumping my tank! Wow! Quite an effort, right? So later this afternoon, I took off my rear hubcaps and fixed them finally, after putting up with noise for several months of trying to ignore them.

Basically, the rear hubcaps come in two pieces that are screwed together, but the inside pieces have been loose on both rear sides, so I could hear an awful rattle as I drove. I needed some small bolts and nuts, and got them about a month ago, but still put it off. So today, I took hubcaps off and put them on picnic table, got all the parts and tools out and screwed them back together, then reinstalled them. Took about an hour, with most time needed to putting them back on again. But what would Camping World have charged me? So I guess I made some money, but at least the noise will be gone.

Still have other ignored projects to do, but a couple are things I have tried and not been able to do. One is to remove a bolt so I can put a new latch on and the other is to fix the handle on my bathroom vent fan. Also, need to climb onto front bunk area and move the TV plug so it works better. Onward!

Shirl, thanks so much for bringing laughter. Anita, when I need to go in Walmart I do a pickup order for say 11 am and get there at 10:30 and go in for whatever I must, and the pickup has always been ready early.

I've been taking tons of pictures here, especially of the unusual cacti in the greenhouse/museum. I've posted some on FB and will try to pick only a few for here which I'll post tomorrow. For those who have the impression I'm not liking this job. Not true. Part of me doesn't want to work, but another part is happy to work. I hate the alarm clock lol Would I prefer shorter days, yes. Yesterday was slow and dragged. Today, however, was busy and time went by quickly. I love walking the gardens and after 5 and Sundays it's like they are my private gardens. I love that. And Ty loves it, too. I think I'm just getting cranky with age. Lol. I'd love to do all the trails, and I'm cranky that I don't feel comfortable to go on most of them alone anymore. So I'm trying to accept that and make do with the ones I am comfortable doing alone. I remember I only got to do my favorite trail at Chiricahua NM because a friend came fora couple days and hiked it with me. But it's more frequent now and sometimes I think I'll have to accept even with someone I'm better off not doing some of them now. My doctor would be proud of me if able to read this. But it maddens me. I'm trying to be adult about it. And I'm going to attempt one of the trails that I think will work, maybe this week or next. Even though I could take Ty, I think it's more important to have my walking stick and not to have to worry about him. But the gardens and museum I can enjoy every day. So no more pity party!

Beth do you have two walking sticks or just one? if only one maybe getting the second one would be useful but then how to use both of them with your dog... sorry his name totally escaped my mind.. some days are like that aren't they... I texted the niece and asked if they want to come for supper tomorrow night planning on the casserole that you put in the recipes Karen got stuff for it even remembered the hamburger (almost didn't) got ready to heat lasagna for supper after supper niece texted back she had forgotten that they had to pick up her mom at the airport so want to come to supper Monday night now I need to figure out what to have for supper tomorrow night... not sure what to do I don't like the same meal back to back should have gotten those hot dogs and buns
so back to lazing around on bed doing scriptures and whatever else I find interesting then doing whatever today it was going to the store...forgot that I got cash back and wondered how I spent that much money on the few groceries that I got...
that is too bad Cheryl that you aren't going to the PNW this year... it's really hard all over to get reservations... they are hard but it's also hard to get into first come with no reservations... I don't know what the answer is... but if you are able to come my way that will be great I don't know what they use here...

while in Ogden I went to an Oriental shop picked up a papaya didn't get around to cutting it open finally did here last night turned out it was a green papaya it even had white seeds... so I have no idea how to use it right now its residing in a ziploc in the fridge... guess I need to google it..
that is frustrating when you can't get websites to work especially when it's really important that you do so..
I can't think of the name of it either Anita and for that I may have had the wrong Port!!!
