Good Morning. Cloudy and 51°. Supposed to be 70-72 today. Nice weather pattern for the next week. Temps running about 20 degrees above normal. But, Karen’s weather will probably head this way later. Snow has melted except for piles and some laying in the woods. Now we are getting into the wildfire/grass fire season until we get some rain and things green up in a month or so. I was out raking yesterday and got the doggy doo from winter cleaned up. Have couple of piles of debris to pick up, but need to wait for snow to finish melting where I dump the stuff. And removed my shrub covers and stored them.

Sounds like everyone had a nice Easter. Enjoyed reading all the reminiscing.

My SS checks get deposited the 3rd Wednesday of the month and like many of you, came early that one time.

Barbie, sorry about the microwave. Shelia, the cake and dip sound good. I see the concept. Anita, I just never bothered to get a blender for myself. I don’t really have use for one. But glad you are able to utilize it for what you want to do. Had to laugh, though at your packing up some of the parts, and then needing them Think we have all been through that when we have moved. By the way, you’re new apt. Sounds really nice.

Going to gather up my stuff to donate to Goodwill and get it into the truck and out of here this morning. It’s been sitting on my spare bed for awhile. Then I will have purged everything out that I don’t need or use. Want to pick up a few things to add to my storm shelter room and get the wood to cut the outfits for my latest wood craft project. Planning to cut them out today, now that I can return to my garage and do that stuff. I put things away out there yesterday from the winter, that I just sat in there until the weather warmed up to put it where it belongs.

So, guess I had better get moving here. Don’t want to spend a whole long time up in town, couple places don’t open till about 10, so I will get the stuff done at tbe one’s open now, and then I can take care of the last couple things after that.. Have a great dsy everyone I

Good Morning to all - Well we are in a HEAT wave. Last Monday it was 45 yesterday it reached 90 and today supposed to be 93. Turned the AC on yesterday and - nothing - Put a call into home warranty people. Some one is supposed to call me today. Sure hope so. I think it lost its freon or what ever they use now - which is way expensive and not covered by warranty - of course. But it did the same thing last year - so there must be a leak, which they better fix.
Got my patio artificial flowers out of their planters and pots and and getting pots ready for planting. I continue to be surprised by what I've gotten (?) used to Bill doing. And he has a hard time letting me do anything.He had to give me all kinds of advice on planting the plants...So will do it today while he is napping. So the next few weeks should be interesting. I could probably count on the fingers of one hand the times I've driven in the last few years. And it makes me nervous to drive with him in the car. That is already getting easier thank goodness. I had forgotten how much I like driving.
Since we returned home, I've been cooking more than before. Got tired of eating in restaurants over the winter. Also now using real plates - used paper in RV. It is funny but over the years I've cooked fewer and fewer different things - now I'm remembering the things I used to cook when all the kids were home. Going to make some of them again.
Hum.. I too got my SS check early, didn't dawn on me until I read the comments. Actually I got my pension check a couple of days early too. Got my taxes done yesterday, owed less than last year. Always nice.
Just in a wait mode for the next couple of days to find out what is going on with him. Haven't heard from the RV dealer on what the damage is to the underside of the RV. No hurry as far as I'm concerned.
Karen do you remember the name of the antibiotics you got that helped you.
Barbie hope you get the job.

Need to get laundry going, that I miss from the winter. Sent it out all the time.

Very foggy here this morning. My grandson and his wife went down to Cabo for a short vacation. Now they are stuck in the airport because of the fog. The sun will be out soon, so they should be able to get home a little later today.
Carol, you mentioned Bill had some heart concerns. I was wondering if his eye trouble could be because of heart medication he was given.? I have had trouble with my eyes recently. The waving Bill had was something I experienced also. I couldn’t read because of the blurry vision. When I went to the ophthalmologist, she discovered one eye had changed! Now I have new glasses and because of the great difference in the two eyes, I am having trouble with certain sights. My daughter (optometrist) said my brain will adjust to that in time!!!
I never got Covid, so can’t help you there. Sounds like Karen had the most debilitating effects.
I love your new car, Karen! If I were to get a new car, that’s what I would choose.
Yes, HOA’S can be a real PITA, I am glad ours here is pretty reasonable.
Hazel and I are doing pretty good. I am so glad I have my mobility scooter otherwise I would never get out of the condo!
I have begun buying frozen vegetables, onions, carrots etc because I couldn’t stand and chop them for long.

Afternoon All, it’s 67° and sunny. I typed a post, checked it for mistakes and it was so whiny I deleted it. I will complain about one thing. That Sam’s coconut cake was $30 and my last. Karen, I hope you are having sunshine, Carol, hoping for good news for Bill. I know most of us are dealing with one difficulty or another. We just hang on and muddle through. We have to believe it will get better. Remember my favorite saying “ the sun doesn’t shine in the same dogs $#*& all the time”. Be safe

Well Shirl I feel very whiny lately too but I still like to share. Somewhat of a comfort sharing with you all. So today it is only spitting a little rain outside but no, there is no sunshine yet. I went out and picked up a grocery order and still have another one from Safeway this time. I usually only buy things when they are on sale from them. We are getting a new grocery store soon WINCO. My favorite store where I used to to live. The funny thing is it is in an old K=mart building right next door to Sherms our other discount market LOL I like both stores and used to shop both of them down south so this should be super handy. I love competition, might bring some prices down, we shall see.

Carol sent you a PM. Barbie let us know how your interviews go. Fingers crossed you get the job. . I might love my new car too IF it ever gets here. It says it is in transit LOL LOL on a slow boat from China LOL Lyn I was super sick It wouldnt have been so bad but it lasted 9 months. BUT now I am 100% and still working on my stamina since I was pretty immobile for so long. I will get there. At least I feel good. I am tired of my calendar filling up with doc appts, labs, ct scan etc So far I have seen the Rheumatologist, labs for him. CT scan repeat. Pulmonlogist, went over my ct scan, said I dont need to come back until follow up ct scan in 2024. Eye doc end of month. Labs for my PCP done that I see in May. Having a hearing test early May. But hopefully I wont have to see PCP for a year after May appt. I will be down to Eye doc every 8 weeks. Rheumatologist every 3-6 months with infusion every 6 months. That is what it was before the dreaded Covid hit me. I am just lucky I found good health care here because it sure isnt the norm.

Well I cant work outside so putting my tomato stands together here in the family room ha ha Maybe I should plant my tomatoes in here too. Time for my afternoon Mocha and a little tv.

Carol, you should get back to driving and doing stuff because you never know what will happen to Bill. Even if he has only a small problem or disability, you need to be ready to help out. So get those car keys and drive!! I tell a lot of women who won't drive an RV that their spouse could sprain an ankle, break an arm, get severe arthritis, or even have gall bladder surgery like my son did when we were on our way to Disneyland a few years ago. He spent 9 days in hospital and luckily I was there co-camping next to them because DIL did not even know how to hook up sewer hose!!

I am in Kanab UT in a Napa Service place. I was on my way to Zion after spending the night in Page, stopped to use bathroom, and when I started up there was a horrible screetching noise coming from left front tire. Anyway, this place was right around the corner so I pulled in and am parked in their rear parking lot, luckily hooked up to 30 amps with AC running. I don't know what is wrong yet, but they have removed both front tires and were doing a lot of pounding. Hopefully, I can make it to Zion tonight but otherwise will spend night here if they need to get parts or something. Luckily, I did not get stuck out on the highway!!

Also, Page was HOT, both weather-wise and from the number of tourists! The British, German, and a bunch of other Europeans have arrived, many in rental RVs, so it is a busy place.

Zhender's family style chicken dinner includes soup, mashed potatoes, German noodles, gravy, relish tray, homemade rolls, cheese spread for the rolls, vegetables, etc. If you don't want chicken, they also have prime rib, lamb chops, wienerschnitzel, pork Schnitzels, and sausage! UPDATE: It took forever, but they managed to get the wheel off and found the bearings had frozen. They have the parts and will start on replacing them tomorrow morning. Will also check the front right wheel to make sure bearings are OK there. In meantime, I have 30 amp hookup, water in my tank, food in my refrig, and a good satellite signal. Plus I am parked right next to police station, so I am OK for the night.

I didn't make it to town yesterday so went this morning. The deli had Chicken Gumbo and Fresh Sausage cooked in gravy so I got one of each. Now I have leftovers again. It's easier to figure out what to eat if there is food in the refrigerator. I went to Walmart and got a couple of books and a birthday card for Kendra and got that mailed. It wasn't much but I know when I was her age anything was great to get. Walmart had the Easter candy 50% off but there were no Robin Eggs. They had marked the cotton candy down so I bought one of those. I wouldn't spend 3.50 for it but half off was ok. Boy is it sweet. There was a bag of Cheesecake Factory Brown Bread Rolls on the discount cart. I had never see that before so bought them. I like them. Will have to look and see if they have more.

Carol, hope they can figure out what's wrong with Bill's eyes. I would wait until my husband wasn't around if I didn't want help with something. I ask him to help me put up a curtain rod one time and he ended up using nails instead of the screws that came with the rod. That curtain rod is never coming down. Now if I want to do something that I think my son will have an opinion about he finds out about it after it's done. HOA's are just ridiculous with some of their rules. I wouldn't buy a house where there is a HOA if I could help it. When I was looking at condos the two things I looked at first, was there a HOA and what the flood score was.

I had a Cuisinart Food Processor before the flood that I used all the time. Now I have a mini one that I don't like. The blade is in the bottom so anything I put in it will end up as a mush if I'm not careful. I'm with Lyn, I'll just buy frozen vegetables that are already cut up.

Barbie, hope you get the job. When you are looking for a microwave you might better look for a timer. I have two timers by the stove that I use all the time. Sometimes I have to carry one with me so I don't burn something.

Judy, hope they can get your RV repaired. You lucked out having a place you could stay with electricity.

Shirl, I don't know if I would have sprung for a $30 cake. lol The local grocery store has a big cold case full of cakes by the front door. I did look to see if there was a coconut cake today but there wasn't. Their cakes are smaller than Sam's but they still want $15 for some of them.

When I got back from town it was looking like rain so I decided to try to get the yard mowed before it rained. I at least wanted to get the bottom of the hill mowed. I managed to get everything mowed and the rain started when I was putting the mower up. It stormed for and hour and I got another 2 1/2 inches of rain. The bottom of the hill has standing water, the pasture is flooded and the ditches are full.

I actually put a shirt in the trash today. It had small holes all over the front like a cat had climbed it. I pulled out a shirt I hadn't worn in a long time. It had shoulder pads and it's been 20 years or more since they put shoulder pads in shirts.

Martha, I wouldn’t have bought the cake either but #1 daughter did and probably didn’t look at the price because it was for me. I would have kept the shirt with shoulder pads because everything I have has shrunk or slid somewhere else. I need to go to bed I feel punchy. Lol

I got to the place for the interview a little early. I was told to wait in the break room. When it was 10 minutes past the interview time, I called the guy and told him I was there. He said he was in with his boss and would be right there. Well, it was 20 minutes later that he finally showed up. I was a little miffed but didn't dare say anything. He told me what the job entailed. I would be trained on different jobs there in case they needed help in other areas. That is fine with me. Some involve a lot of standing and some lifting, but I wouldn't be doing that very often. I asked a few questions and then he gave me the paperwork to get a livescan done which is required for the job. So I guess I am hired. Will probably start next week. Got the livescan done ($62 ) and brought back the paperwork. I am not super excited about this job for some reason, but will see how it goes once I get started. I just need the money.

Stopped at the WM near there but they also did not have what I wanted. They seem to have gotten a ton of one type of microwave and pulled all the others off the shelves (other than the demo ones), so that one is the only one they have available, other than some much more expensive ones. I stopped back at the WM near my house and figured on one I saw there yesterday that I would get even tho it wasn't really what I wanted (I wanted at least 900 watts and still under $75). Well, the one I had decided to go with, was gone and just more of the chintzy ones that they had dozens of. I picked up some cat food and litter and went home. I got on-line and checked the other WM where I used to work. It said they had several of the ones I was looking for in stock, so I ran over there. Nope! Nothing but those cheapy ones in mass quantities! I really didn't want to go home without a microwave (for fear of starving to death soon. You don't realize how much you depend on something until you don't have it anymore! ). I got one that was $82 and 1000 watts. It is currently in the back of my Jeep. It is very heavy and I don't want to tackle it in the dark, so tomorrow I will remove it from the box in the car and then carry it up into my house. Meanwhile I will find something to eat that doesn't require a microwave, if I can. I have my Easter leftovers that I would like to warm up and eat. My oven still has a little propane smell when I turn it on and sets the alarm off for a minute or two (altho not nearly as bad as it used to be), so I don't really want to use that if I can help it since I have a headache and the alarm beeping is super loud. Well, I could have some cheese with my whine... (Shirl, I think I just made up for the whine you deleted today!)

It got close to 100* today. I have the AC on just in my bedroom today. It smells a little musty in here tho so I turned on the dehumidifier option on the minisplit to see if that helps. Doesn't feel too humid tho. (My bedroom minisplit is working find now! Go figure! ).

Judy, glad you were able to find a place so close to get your wheel fixed! What is in Page that is so popular for the foreign tourists?

I love chicken! One of my favorites used to be Chicken Kiev, but I can't find it anymore in the stores. There was one restaurant back in MN that still offered it from their menu and was SO good.

Gonna watch a little TV and then get to bed. I had a little trouble with my sciatica while walking around the stores today but tried a few small stretches that I could do inconspicuously and that seemed to help.

That is what we did with my dad. No one wanted to hear his rants about what a stupid thing we were about to do, so we waited until afterward to tell him. Then all he could say was "what the hell did you do that for?"

I am pretty lucky here with our HOA. They are pretty reasonable.

I do have a timer, I just left it in the living room and didn't want to go back in there to get it so I used (or thought I did) the timer on the microwave. Nothing was in it so I knew when I finally turned it off that it was toast. I didn't hear the microwave running because I had the hood vent fan on because of the propane smell from the oven while I was making the augratin potatoes. I only realized it was on when I turned off the vent fan and heard it. I have the worst luck with appliances! (This is why I don't cook much and rely on my microwave so much!)

don't you just love to hear the phrase "they say" after a problem like burning up a micro ??? but they say to keep a cup of water in the micro that way if it gets turned on it has something to "cook" but to be honest I don't do that...
Shirl is it that you wouldn't pay 30 for the cake or it simply wasn't good??? I'd be hard pressed to buy a cake that cost that much... 15 -16 is pretty much what I may do and that was cause I really really liked the cake (I'd gotten slices of it before and after all my birthday and I didn't think anyone would get me a cake so I did)

When Larry was alive I had no desire to drive the truck with Larry in it and never while it was towing.... he wouldn't say anything but his body language was such that I rarely drove... in fact I think some people thought I didn't drive...I could and I did just rarely... but it is always a good idea to learn ... I wish I had but when I had to learn my brother drove with me from Idaho to SLC then it was on me... and I made it ... once I start towing again it will be almost like starting all over...
I shouldn't be allowed in CostCo either... just saying

Since we have been talking about Homeowner's Associations, it is interesting that John Oliver's most recent segment (on YouTube) is about just that: HOA's.

If you don't know, Mr. Oliver is a well-known satirist/humorist that uses a lot of swear words in his monologues (the "F" word comes up pretty often), with often a bit (and sometimes more than a bit) of sexual innuendo thrown in for good measure.

So be warned before you watch!

I personally find him pretty funny, most of the time. I watch his show "Last Week Tonight" fairly frequently.

Among other things, in this HOA segment, he talks about a woman whose home was foreclosed on (she lost her home) because she failed to pay some kind of minimal HOA fee or fine (I think the fine started at about $20, and then fees and penalties, then lawyer fees, were compounded on top of that).

Of course, this poor woman's story isn't funny in the least. It is pretty tragic, really.

But one of the things Mr. Oliver does really well is pointing out the absurdities of life in general, in a humorous/satirical manner.

Page is the town on Lake Powell in Utah. It is one of the major national Parks and has slot canyons, boat trios on the lake and really huge dam. Lake level is very very low but it is still beautiful here. Also Zion is only about 20 miles from here.

You used to be able to rentgorgeous house boats on the lake.

Judy, just a little correction. There's no national park in Page, but it's gorgeous and does have Antelope Canyon, too. And don't expect to get to Zion quite that quickly. There's a tad more than 100 miles between them.
