Wednesday April 5

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday April 5

Morning All, 67°t-storms today and tomorrow with damaging winds. Hatefull seems to be everywhere. So many truck loads of concrete going to construction site. With the threat of so many tornados we need to give thought to building construction. No special plans for the day and still eating out of the freezer. Sheila, safe travels. Be safe

Good Stormy Morning Shirl and all, It is 75 here and the storms started around 4 this morning. Toby was sure he could bark the thunder away and so of course the other two chimed in so it was a rude awakening. We were under a tornado watch but all is well so far but more storms/tornado warnings for later. I just went to the post office and when I opened my car door I thought the wind was going to blow me away! Another day for naps between noise. Shirl I agree it's good idea to give thought to construction. I heard that in Florida at Fort Myers Beach the newer structures held up so much better and that the older ones were pretty much gone. My eyes have been giving me trouble burning and itching so I went to the eye doctor and the glands in my eyes are clogged. Apparently doing the laser procedure to remove something like smudges on the lens after my cataract surgery sometimes causes this problem Ack that surgery just keeps on giving me issues. The medicine is the consistency of vasaline and they had said drop it in the eye! HA I finally got some in but this morning I went to the pharmacy and asked exactly how to do it. I also had to buy scent free tear less baby shampoo to wash the residue off. I have it for the dogs but thought maybe that might not be a good idea  Well it is getting dark out and I hear thunder so guess I will check the weather report.

Good morning gals!

Beth, do you have some hair conditioner you could rub on your hair? It would be better than hand lotion. Or even a tiny bit of coconut oil mixed with water.

BJ. when I was young I had dry eye syndrome (triggered mostly from cigarette smoke), so I got some eye salve from my doctor for my eyes. It was also like Vaseline which made everything blurry ,so I couldn't use it during the day. So I put it in at night right before bed. By morning my eyes felt better and I could see clearly.

Judy, stay safe from the wind and dust! The weather all over has been so crazy and violent!

It is calm and sunny here this morning. Will start warming up each day and they say by early next week, it will be in the low 90's! :o Not ready for that!
My mini-split in my bedroom isn't working again. :? Even if I turn it off for awhile and turn it back on (which has worked before), it still won't work. I need to get that looked at ASAP. It is a bit chilly this morning in here, about 60* so I am huddled under the covers. I will be needing the AC by next week. Always something!

Edit: I just turned on the AC on my minisplit to see what would happen and that is working! So it is just the heater that isn't working. That is a good thing!

I called a different temp service about a cannabis job yesterday and she said she would email an application to me. I never got it so I am thinking she wrote down my email address wrong. I am trying to get ahold of her this morning to get that straightened out.

It has been kind of noisy around here with kids. I think a lot of the younger grandkids of the residents here have come to visit during spring break, so there is a lot of activity here with them. I don't mind, but just not used to hearing kids around here.

I guess I better get up and get stuff done! Have a good day and stay safe!

Good afternoon. Had a busy morning. Had to go to my pulmonologist appt. I really like her and she has an accent from Pakistan and it was a bit difficult to understand on my last visit but I really think it was due to the mask. Now that we are not wearing them anymore unless you want to I had zero trouble chatting with her today. We reviewed my cat scan together and she explained everything!!! The good news: I am going to live (was suspect last year lol) I do have some scarring but she said it is minimal. And probably have had it for many years ago. This time just aggravated it. We agreed if even I get a cold with a cough to call her. She was a little emphatic about that ha ha Have another CT for follow up next February. Then went to the Lab at Evergreen where my pcp is for my May 2 visit. After that I probably wont have to go again and only for my yearly physical. Then headed to the bank to deposit the check for my new car. I like the deposit part, not sure about the withdrawal part hah Had to stop at the store for a "few" things. Right....$94 later I am out of there. I did buy some meat this trip tho so that adds up quickly. Now getting ready to have a Mocha and relax.
Glad things are better in your neck of the woods BJ weatherwise. Hoping they can fix your eyes up too. So far mine are doing okay. I go for my injections in a couple of weeks.

I am really sick of the wind. I have to hold the back storm door with two hands or the wind will jerk it away. The humminging birds are getting a wild ride on the feeder. I just hope it doesn't pour all the sugar water out. The line of rain is from South Texas thru North Louisiana and on up. There aren't any boxes in Louisiana but some in North Mississippi. The line will come thru here sometime tomorrow.

Karen, glad you found a doctor that cares about you. Those doctors are in short supply here. One of the women at my meeting last night said that since Ochsner's has taken over Lafayette General things have gone to shit. I couldn't agree more. I told my son if he has to go to an emergency room again we are going to try Lourdes. I found the ribs you recommended but haven't cooked them yet.

I got my errands run yesterday but Walmart almost made me late. At 5:30 there were two lanes open and lines at both ends of the store for the self checkout. It took me 25 minutes to get checked out.

Barbie, hope your heater isn't an expensive fix. I need to call a plumber. One of the toilets is running again. I knew how to work on the old toilets with the float but they had to change them. The plumber even had a hard time fixing one of my toilets last time.

My 3 day work week starts tomorrow. Dang. Lol. They must think I'm really a bore if they've even noticed that my car and I haven't been gone at all during this 4 days off. The two really high wind days stopped the sightseeing I might have done and today I simply decided if I went to a grocery store for the couple things I want, I'd probably spend too much. So I pulled together lunches for my 3 writing days and have looked at dinners and I really will not starve. I could probably go longer. But next week I want to get out at least once. It's always nice walking the grounds here and I'm looking forward to continue seeing all the new blooms.

Barbie, I know my method isn't the best and I've ordered a spray conditioner for my hair. Conditioners used in the shower, no matter how long I rinse make my hair oily/greasy. Always have. So I'll try this new stuff when I get it. And my humidifier is helping, too.

Martha I have to think there is an easy fix for the water running in the toiler. Search how to stop videos before calling a plumber. Might only need to turn a screw

Shirl, this time the toilet is leaking because some float probably won't stop the water coming in and it's going over the overflow. It's all enclosed in plastic. There is a shelving unit that has to be emptied over the toilet and moved. I just haven't looked for a bin to unload the shelves.

I went to the country store and got boiled crawfish so Sugar and I had crawfish for supper. She only had a few so hope they don't make her sick. She will eat them whole if she can find one in the yard.

Another beautiful day, but didn't go as planned. Went to get in the car and the battery was dead - again! Got a jump start, called the dealer and off I went. I sort of know how I might have done it, but I accidentally hit the switches for the dome light and a map light. You just don't notice they are on! The service guy said he only noticed because after he pulled it into the shop where it was a little darker, he sat there for a little bit. Otherwise we still wouldn't know! They put the charger on it and it should be fine!

Then I stopped at the mechanic and went in to pay for oil, filter, etc. I handed him the receipt and told him he forgot to charge me. He said no it's right, he just does it the easy way and doesn't break it down! $108.00!! Wow!

I think my day is done!

Yeah, Walmart.

I was in Walmart one time, my cart was mounded with merchandise and filled to the brim. I had spent at least an hour shopping, and I was tired.

All the check stands were full, and I had waited for at least ten minutes for it to be my turn. Just as I got ready to start unloading my stuff, the checker whapped a "Line Closed" sign down right in front of me on the conveyor belt.

She smiled at me and shrugged.

I smiled back at her, shrugged, and walked out of the store.

It takes staff a LOT longer to $$put things back$$ than it does for a person to put things in.

I'd do it again, too.

Anne, I have often thought about walking out of Walmart and leaving a basket full of stuff. Our Walmart only had 2 of the long self-checkout places. The rest are the small areas for a few things. Sometimes the lady watching the self-checkout will get someone out of line and help you scan things. They aggravate me enough that I will put off going to Walmart until I need something no one else has.

I drove from Los Alamos today to a casino campground west of Albuquerque. Stopped at Walmart and picked up a few things because I am going To be spending the next three nights at at the RV park run by the Acoma Pueblo. The pueblo itself is closed for tours, for the museum is open and has a substantial video of the pueblo. Next stop after that will be Sunday in Gallup where I will get a much needed truck wash. And only $25 per night for full hookups at Sky City, which is another name for the Casino and pueblo.

Also, have reservations at Heron SP in New Mexico in mid-May for 7 days but just discovered that they have no water and showers are closed. I cannot bring in enough water so am either going to cut it to a couple of nights or just cancel the whole thing and find some other place in Colorado. Found one brand new place but it is a bit expensive. So will need to do some looking around. Actually, I have not been spending much on camping lately. Cochiti Lake was $10 per night and the NM state parks I have been staying at were only $14 per night, so maybe I can afford a little splurge. Actually, tonight was a splurge, but I knew this place tonight had a great laundry and was very nice with full hookup. I really need to work on flushing out my black tank every once in a while, so a full hookup helps.

And I have the first really bad cold I have had in years. Been coughing last couple of days--producing a lot of stick mucus and thought it was just due to being dry, but now have a headache, cold sore, and am a bit achy. I will dose myself up tonight and hope it is better tomorrow so I can travel. Got some Nyquil in capsule form I already took.

Did a couple haircuts today so that put a little cash in my pocket. Still can't get ahold of the lady at the temp service about emailing me an application. I called the receptionist number too and still got a voicemail. Will try again tomorrow.

I tried my heater a little while ago just to see...and it came on!! :o Yay! It is nice and toasty in my bedroom now. I put on warm PJ's earlier thinking it was gonna be a cold night in here. Hope it keeps working all night. It is very finicky!

Still can't do anything with the online autobiography site. They don't know why it isn't working for me. I have tried to find another site to use but they all want me to use their prompts and answer questions, rather than me just writing what I want and making my own chapter titles. I want to write it like a book, not a question and answer format. The site I have started it on lets me do what I want, if it only worked. Also want to find a website that is secure, so I don't lose what I have written if something goes wrong. Also want to be able to print it out in book form when I finish it, which that site offers too. Will have to keep looking...

Another big tornado hit Missouri and killed a few people there and left a big swath of destruction. I think that is at least 30+ killed in tornadoes in just the past week all across the midwest! It is a rough spring so far for severe weather all over.

Need to run a couple of errands tomorrow morning. Maybe that will motivate me to do something around here when I get back. :? Just been kind of down in the dumps lately. Just don't feel like doing anything when I feel that way.

I think Sunday is Easter. I might pick up a ham steak tomorrow and make scalloped potatoes to go with it and maybe pick up some cole slaw too. The Masters Golf Tournament is on too, so that will be fun to watch! It is such a beautiful course in Augusta, GA with the azaleas and dogwoods in bloom this time of year!

Good night!
