Anyone planning summer trip?

Postby gypsyrose1126 » Wed Mar 22, 2023 3:22 pm

I'm thinking about going East this year. I have not done a long trip since COVID hit! I'm thinking PA, upstate NY, NH, VT, ME, up to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and then return. I'm going to hit Niagara Falls either coming or going. I can go thru the U.S. or up thru the UP to Canada. For those who have been there, what to see, what to skip. Anyone else going that way?

I went up to that area in August and September 2015, and my blog has photos of some of those places, so check it out here: http://grandmajjb.blogspot.com/2015/08/

A warning about Prince Edward Island--most places there close after Labor Day, but the main Anne of Green Gables sites were open. Also, remember that the weather can get chilly there in fall.

A BIG WARNING is that fall is a big tourist season in that area because of changing leaf colors. Also, in places along the New England and Nova Scotia Coast, Fall is also when the big cruise ships stop by for the day. For example, Bar Harbor is wonderful, but can get cramped when two big cruise ships are parked in the harbor and disgorge thousands of passengers! Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia are not to be missed, but they are small towns that can be packed when a couple of big ships arrive and bus people over to these areas in Nova Scotia!! Ship schedules are planned long in advance, however, and you can check them out to determine when is the best time to make reservations!!!

That sounds like a great trip. Enjoy it!
I'll be heading near Fort Davis, Texas next week for 3 months, then a month seeing what I need to take care of art my casita in Arizona and playing with my gf who lives there. August to early October I'll be in the Des Moines area workamping. I chose there to play with friends and some relatives who are near. By that time I should be ready to head back down here. I'll really enjoy following your trip though, so please take us along!

I went to PA to Gettysburg and Lancaster and got together with O’Sharon. She took me around up there. So if you go there, make sure you get with her because she’s an excellent tour guide. We had a great time.

Thanks for the info, my plan is to leave sometime in the middle of June, so will not be there for the changing of the leaves. I figured it would be to crowded at that time. Plus we have lots of leaves to look at here in WI, MN and the UP.
