Morning All, forecast is 55° and plenty of sunshine. Had a nice dinner with daughter and son-in-law. Dressed early waiting for maintenance, I don’t do hurry up any more.Tall lady with new knees just strolled by. Will be ready for her tomorrow and say “good morning “ from the balcony. Beeping big equipment on the move again. I will know how to built a road when they are finish. Lol I’m invested with Fidelity and have had the same financial advisor for over 20 years. I am not diligent or educated enough to manage my investment so will continue to rely on Rob. I did find
8 o clock coffees at Sam’s not in store but shipped at a reasonable price. My day will depend on maintenance activity. Be safe

Good morning Shirl. Getting back to my regular sleep schedule finally. I usually dont have any trouble changing schedules but this year I did. I like getting up around 5am, get to have my coffee, watch the news, check out online happenings. I dont eat breakfast right away but try to eat around 8 then start my day shortly after that. Today will be scrambled egg with mushrooms, spinach and cheese. That should hold me for a while LOL Will have it a bit early tho because I need to go to Walmart and get some more of those ribs,,,,they are so good. Need a few other things too so will make my trip count.
I have one of my 401k's at Fidelity, I like them too. My RMD comes from them, I take it every month instead of once a year. I call it my "play money" LOL It still ticks me off tho at a certain age we HAVE to take a withdrawal. I have never understood just why.

Rainy day today and was only 33 when I let the dog out....brrrrr. Warming up to 60 so they say. Supposed to have intermittent sun and clouds with no rain...we shall see. Rain showers predicted for the rest of the week, oh well Guess spring will arrive when it arrives.

Morning! I stayed up making grocery orders for Walmart, Sam's, and HEB. I will not have any of them near me for the next 3 months so am filling my fridge and pantry with some items. Not lots from any of them, but just some things that who knows if the local store will have that I like. That's one reason I defrosted my freezer. So Friday will be pick up day lol

I finally got back over 10k steps yesterday (almost 13k). I'm hoping this becomes the norm again. I'm a weather wuss lol Ty and I will take our first longer walk in a minute.

Question - Edith has a Samsung tablet and was given a used iPad. She knows less than me. She went to Best Buy Geek Squad to have her pictures transferred from Samsung to IPad. They said it couldn’t be done. Can pictures be downloaded on to thumb drive then loaded to her iPad. If you have an answer pretend you are explaining it to an old person who doesn’t understand rect speak.

I survived Walmart..in fact there was hardly anyone there. Was getting busier when I left. The gal at the self checkout registers told me about a great recipe for Mochico chicken. It is a hawaiian chicken dish she said I should try LOL not sure why. But I looked it up and it looks interesting so we shall see. I do like trying new things. I did have to order some special flour from Amazon. Everything else I have except the green onions. Another trip because I wont make it until next week. Will probably cut the recipe in half. She said cutting up the leftover chicken and putting on a salad was the bomb. OK I am game.

Now going to take a shower then clean the bathrooms and change my linens and towels.

Shirl, a thumb drive will not plug into an iPad without an adapter. My photos land in cloud and I can open on either laptop (not an Apple laptop) then open on iPhone or iPad. Google says to move photos from an android based device such as a tablet to apple: connect the Android based tablet to a computer, find photos then transfer. It's too much to type, but if you search google, it gives exact instructions. Tech was correct, you can't directly transfer because they are different operating systems. We upload from phone/iPad to laptop using my phone/iPad charge cord, which has a USB on one end. It uses iTunes app on laptop.

Chilly, dark rainy day in my part of California. Trying to get son moving so he can shower and shampoo before his barber appointment ! Dark enough in here to need lights to read!

Thanks Velda, you answered my question. The solution is more than two old timers can handle. Edith will have to keep her Samsung for pictures.

Shirl, since those solutions are more than you want to try, the hard way is to email the photos to herself and download onto the iPad. It can be tedious because e-mail allows only so many bytes.

Sunny although it was foggy when I got up. My getting something done yesterday was a long nap - woke up at 7:15 last evening. Still in bed by 1.

Karen, I've decided I want tissue paper to pack some things so my Walmart list is growing for tomorrow! Monica brought me boxes from the school and I unloaded the rest from the car so there's an obstacle course here. :)

Surprisingly, I woke up to rain! :o So no putters golf this morning. I rolled over and went back to sleep. I was up until 2:30am watching YouTube videos on how to cook soft scrambled eggs, and other breakfasty things I can never get right. I am not a very patient cook, so I cook everything too high and too fast. Eggs need to cook on lower heat and longer time. I will try that.

Rainy days don't get me very motivated to do much, so I will probably just read or play on my laptop, maybe write on my autobiography for awhile. I need to trim the fur on Romeow's backside. He gets "stuff" caught in the fur when he uses the litter box and I have to clean him off which he hates (not a picnic for me either! ). So will cut that down and also trim his claws. Making brownies and frosting my hair are also on my list of things to do so will see how motivated I am later today. There is always tomorrow...

I got chosen as a volunteer at a local Kitty Rescue as a "professional kitten cuddler" to help socialize kittens that are coming in during "kitten season". I can go there any day between 10 and 12 to cuddle kitties! It is about a half hour drive down the freeway so I don't want to go on a rainy day. I wonder what Romeow would do with a kitten? :?

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

HA HA THAT became my mantra when I retired. I used to come home for a week or two between assignments and have to get so much done. When I retired I did learn that there IS always tomorrow....so far.

More importantly Barbie, do you really want to travel with two cats in a small MH?

Rowan was safely handed off to Cindy yesterday south of Columbus at the Cracker Barrel that is about halfway between our locations. We often use it to trade off dogs, etc because it give us a shady parking lot in the back and a nice place to sit and eat and visit before turning around and heading home. Laundry was completed last night and sorted to travel. Today's errands included the run to Krogers for travel groceries, stopping off at my mechanic's because they offered months ago that they would always check my fluid levels and air pressure for me before I took off in the RoadTrek. Have I mentioned that I really like my hometown mechanics. And when I went to turn on my refrigerator I checked the propane level and immediately turned around and headed back out to refill the propane. (Luckily I leave within 3-4 miles of all these stops. It is convenient. I think of Martha at times like these.) Generally when traveling and camping anymore I just leave the refrigerator on propane. It is easier to maintain temperature that way. I remembered to charge up the batteries for the Fans (the ones I also use at dog shows) because according to my weather app it will be going up to the 70's and 80's this coming week in North Carolina. I have my daughter's flat driveway reserved for Thursday night but assured her I would pay for a take out dinner, so a tired teacher doesn't have to fix anything or find the energy to leave the couch. I remember how it felt to make it to Thursday evening. She also knows that I will skedaddle back to the Road Trek after dinner so that she can make her usual early bedtime hours and neither she nor Lucas will feel obligated to entertain me. I will make the short 250 mile drive down to the Raccoon VAlley Escapees park just north of Knoxville tomorrow. I still love to drive distances but would rather not do it all in one day.

The only thing I have not decided yet is whether or not I will pack my Sea Eagle kayak. In my 22 ft BT Gulfsteam motorhome It generally traveled in the passenger seat under Herschel. I don't know if Lark will appreciate the added inches. Either way I have decided not to tow the Honda since I am only going for a week. So Lark and I will either kayak or not kayak depending upon the engineering of packing. As far as I can tell, no one else is planning on bringing a kayak. The one lady who was, changed her mind and decided to pack a bike instead. My dogs have told me how happy they are that I was never tempted to travel with a bike. They appreciate hiking boots and leashes and multiple walks a day.

Break is over for now....pack to the packing.

Shirl, if she knows how to use an app, tell here to try this:

Making the move on phone and tablet has never been easier, Apple even has a special app called Move to iOS for this very purpose. It's an Android app you can put on your old device that will help move all your data to your new device. That includes all your important photos, contacts, calendars, and more.Dec 14, 2022

If she has that app, all she would have to do is follow the directions. They usually aren’t complicated.

Done working for today so I thought I would sit down and chat on here for a few minutes before I warm up my chili from yesterday. Been a very satisfying day today. I finished all of the cabinets in my kitchen, so with the exception of the two cabinets over my washer and dryer. I am done with my spring cleaning, other than just washing the inside of my windows. I am now purged of stuff that I haven’t used since I moved here. I am only keeping what I use and some things that I might have to use once in a great while. So I will have some more stuff heading for donation probably tomorrow.

Got a call from my flooring place that my bathroom flooring is in, so they are going to come and do that on Thursday. So that project will be underway. Still waiting to hear from my electrical guy yet but there’s no hurry on that. He’s been busy. Since they install the generators during the summer, I’m sure that he’s probably got a lot of people who would like to have one, and he has to go see what they want and what they need. Plus they are doing inside jobs right now. If what I would like done, doesn’t get done until next fall, that’s OK too. One project was to rewire a plug down in my basement, but once the weather is nice, I won’t be using my workshop down there anyway. And if I decide to go with more lights in my kitchen, I don’t need light much this time of year either. As to the exterior lights, the guy that did the remodel of my bathroom does those kinds of jobs, so I can call him.

Karen, I don’t know why you have to do RMD by a certain age either. I don’t have a 401(k), but I do have IRAs and like you, I’m taking mine monthly. One I am leaving alone because it is a Roth and I don’t need it right now. I don’t have to draw from it till I’m ready.

Been pretty much of a cloudy day with a few peaks of sun and we had a few snow flurries earlier, but that’s gone now. I’m just the opposite of some of you gals  . I would rather be busy working in my house on the lousy days and be outside on the nice days. Those are the kind of days. I don’t want do anything in here. It’s why I am wrapping up my inside projects, because I know the nicer weather is not going to be too far off and I’m going to be outside doing the spring chores.

Tunny says it’s time to get something to eat, so I guess I should go do that. Have a nice rest of the day wherever you are. Tina, have a safe trip and wonderful time.

The reason you have to take the money out of your retirement accounts is because the government wants the tax money, of course. If I had been paying more attention there were some years it would have been better to move money to a Roth and pay the tax.

It has been overcast all day and the sun just came out. The temperature is up to 73 but it's so windy it still feels cold. It looks like California is getting hit with wind and rain again.

Today I got an email from one of the flea treatment companies that today is Annie's Birthday and she is 15. I had to go look. She was born in the spring of 2008 so she is really 16.

Tina, I don't think 250 miles is a short drive anymore. That's about my limit now.

Karen, what is the brand of ribs you like from Walmart?

I went to my Meetup last night and had Crawfish Lasagna. It was very cheesy. My son wanted a seafood pizza. I tried a piece and I think I'll stick to the meat lovers.

Anne, the estate sale I went to had some old bolo ties with beautiful slides. Some of them were indian design with turquoise stone. Someone that makes jewelry, like you, could probably have made something with them. They wanted too much for them. They had price tags from $30 to $50. I didn't ask what she would take for them but she was giving others 1/2 off the price tag on things. That was still too much.

I have done just abut zero today. I have to rest up from my trip. lol
