Morning All, 39° and cloudy. Just back from daughters. Had a great time. The news is alway so horrible it was nice to see a laughing hugging family. Living alone I forgot there are what I call normal American families. No plans for the day. I don’t have to be anywhere so doubt the time change will affect me much. Hope everyone has a peaceful day. Afternoon Shirl and all. Sounds like you had a nice time at daughters. Was granddaughter surprised with the car? I agree about living alone and forgetting what a real American family feels like. No ine around for me up here. Downstate either for that matter. Cousins are all involved in their own worlds, never hear from them other than one. Two are downstste, one in PA. Saw thrm for first time in about 20 years at ne cousins funeral last fall. Wouldn’t know where their kids if I passed them on the street.

Just got home from Mass a little while ago and had lunch. We have light snow showers here today, but they’re not amounting to anything. Getting peaks of sunshine once in a while.

Gong to take a little time to install new toilet seat in guest bathroom and new shower head in my shower, then off with the dogs for a walk. We did about 2 1/2 miles yesterday . But that road is dirt and starting to thaw out. Had to navigate around some mud holes and water, slushy snow etc. along the way, in between the snow covered areas of the road. Tine to stay off that road for awhile until it’s clear and dry. That tine of year. Will be staying to the hard topped ones now.

It is afternoon here, at least in the room where I'm at right now. If I go into the kitchen it's still morning as I haven't brought in the step stool in to change the clock.
I'm happy you had a good time with your family Shirl. I have nieces and nephews that live within 20 miles of me and we wouldn't recognize each other on the street. We have friends that we consider family but of true relatives I only keep in touch usually by phone or text messages with my one remaining cousin, her son and my brother.
It is another dreary cold damp day here so think I will read my book and take a nap.

Good morning you two. I slept kind of late for me, even with the time change so now I feel like my morning has gotten away from me. Oh well, I have nowhere to go and no projects for today. I LOVE DST. I dont go out much in the mornings except to do yardwork when it is hot out. So sitting sipping coffee and playing on the computer is my normal morning. Then I come to life about 9am. BUT in the summer I just love sitting on my back deck reading or just enjoying the weather in the evening or morning coffee out there is good too. I just wish we didnt have to change back and forth. Well if we wait for the Feds to make a decision I will probably be 6ft under and never get to enjoy it. I know many of you dont feel the same as I do but it is what it is.

Going to have fish and green beans today. Was going to have it yesterday but since I got my Panini maker, OMG makes the best sandwiches. Well now that I have the timing down. It says 3 minutes..........nope burnt. So dropped it down to 2 1/2 minutes...nope but less burnt
Yesterday did it for 2 minutes AND kept checking it LOL perfect. I love the crunch. Wasnt expensive either so I am enjoying it. I might make a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch in it tomorrow and see how that is. So far have just done smoked turkey and cheese. I did buy some pastrami as I didnt want a large thing of corned beef kicking around and they had this in the deli. Small container of sauerkraut so Reuben is on my list this week. Also making the chicken tortellini soup. I bought a large bag of tortellini but only going to use a certain amount of it so I had to see how to freeze the rest. Easy, just sprinkle a little flour on them, stick them in the freezer for a bit on a cookie sheet, then bag them. I am going to put them in individual bags so I can just pull out enough for soup or a pasta dish. My new favorite pasta is tortellini LOL LOL I am just trying to eat more economically and healthy. Well except for the two small red velvet cupcakes I bought outside the grocery store from a high school bake sale HA HA Could have been worse, could have been Girl Scout cookies, as in Thin Mints my favorite.

I’m the same. Made Thai noodles from a box…very good. And easy too! Boil noodles, heat coconut milk in large pan, add one tablespoon red curry powder, one tablespoon brown sugar, add cooled noodles. Eat when it is all hot! I am all for easy.
My daughter has left after spending two weeks here. She is now back in NH awaiting two snowstorms!
We got a little rain from the latest storms. Val loved Hazel, and Hazel was thrilled to have a house guest! I, too, like DST the best.

I like DST best, but would settle to just stay on either year round. I can adjust my hours to get the best daylight when I prefer it. That's what I do in Arizona. It might mean I'm off schedule from others but I usually am anyways lol

I'm going to see if I can come l copy and paste something from FB on here in general talk. I just love it.

I’m hoping that they don’t approve leaving daylight saving time permanent. The sleep, experts are lobbying for them to drop it permanently because it just disrupts our sleep patterns among other things. I just read an column this morning in out local paper on it. Thought I would throw it out here. Those in the northern states like me, would not be getting light until 9 AM in the morning during the shorter months of the year. Schools normally start at 8 AM and by then it is beginning to get light. But if it goes to 9 AM, that means the students are going to be in school for an hour in the dark. We will only gain an hour in the evening, which is usually supper time for most people, so that’s not gonna amount to anything. As the days get longer in the evenings, and the nights will be dark later, which means that you are going to find yourself going to bed later because you don’t realize what time it is, and for people who have to work that’s going to make a darn short night. I would rather see us keep standard time permanently. Sure it gets dark earlier in the late afternoon but it’s only for just a short period of time. Then we start to get lighter again. Just my two cents worth.

Good morning all,

The kids were able to come down from the mountain last Sunday - after being snowed-in for 11 days. Their street had been cleared but the snow was still too deep on their driveway & the plows had left huge mounds of snow blocking all the driveways. A neighbor down the way had a bobcat & helped everyone dig out - my son's driveway took over 2 hours! The biggest challenge was where to put the snow. I have to admit I was absolutely thrilled when my son called & said they were down the mountain & would be home in an hour. I knew they were safe & warm but I missed them terribly. So I'm back to my busy-self.

The baby had changed so much in those 11 days. He prefers to sit up rather than laying down now & plays with his toys more. Last night they invited me to join them for dinner at a sushi place near my house. I'm not into sushi but went to just enjoy some time out. I ended up bringing 3-year-old Jordi back to my place early as he was getting antsy & tired. I absolutely loved having him with me. He is such a special little guy - so sweet, loving & snuggly. He turned on the CD player & the TV - so we had Paw Patrol on TV & kids songs on CD. I was in heaven just holding him next to me as he quickly fell asleep. They are growing up too fast. I definitely cherish this special time with them. Shirlv, I think you nailed it when you said how nice it is to be reminded that normal, loving, laughing families still exist.

Nothing else special going on here. Got my clocks changed as soon as I got up. Been working on French homework ever since. We will have a conversation with the teacher on Friday - these are always terrifying for me. I am much better at reading & even writing, but I take hours to figure out how to say something so conversing is not easy. Our professor speaks very clearly & beautifully so I'm hopeful that at least I can understand what she's saying. I'll spend most of this week reviewing the possible conversation topics & coming up with brief notes on each as we don't know in advance which topic she'll chose for us.

Well, I'd better get back to French homework.

Got up early this morning (at 7, but my brain said 6 ) to go to the pancake breakfast. It was great! Had an extra scoop of scrambled eggs and 2 small pancakes. Perfect amount! Eggs were just like I like them, soft scrambled. I sat with a couple who I have never met before. They were very nice and it turned out we have a lot of friends in common there, including the woman from Greece who I bought my house from.

Came back home and went back to bed for a couple hours. I need to take a trip to the grocery store for the cole slaw. I think I will skip the RV show. My knee is a little sore and now my foot is aching a bit too! I hope I don't completely fall apart before I can sell my house and get on the road!

I have been on the hunt for the perfect pillow for years now. I go thru lots of pillows since they only last a couple months before getting flat or lumpy. I bought a memory foam pillow a few years ago and I use it mostly to support my back when I sit up in bed, with a softer pillow in front of it. Well, the past several nights, I have just been sleeping on the memory foam pillow and I have had the best sleep every night since then! I hardly move all night and never wake up during the night like I usually do. Turns out I already have the perfect pillow and didn't even know it. It feels hard at first (that is why I didn't sleep on it before) but gives some under my head and neck when I lay on it. Even the kink in my neck is feeling much better now. It is also a cooling pillow so it feels nice and cool under my head and neck!

Beautiful day today! Light breeze today and mid 70's predicted. I have the windows open. I closed them all yesterday because of the high winds blowing the dust all over.

I also vote for permanent DST. I like it being lighter later. I get more done in the evenings when it is still light out.

Lyn, good to get an update from you. Glad your daughter likes your dog!

Catheryn, glad your family is OK. Sounds like you are loving being a grandma!

Cheryl, I hope you figure out a plan for your summer trip! If I was on the road now, I might have followed you! I have been to Yellowstone but only got a half day in at the park since my tow vehicle was in the shop for 4 of the 5 days I was there. I need to get back there and spend a couple more days in the park, especially the north loop that I didn't get to see.

I slept away most of the morning - couldn't get to sleep last night. No biggie.

Life is pretty humdrum, but I had a call from my grandson in Anchorage yesterday and a great visit! They are really becoming an active outdoor couple and loving Alaska. He just went through Arctic survival training and then a week in Hawaii for work. Was fun to discover we had both watched a couple of Netflix documentaries - extreme mountain climbing and kayaking.

Karen, the panini maker sounds so good, but I'd be eating too much bread! I don't even own a toaster. Catherine, I have been wondering about your family and so happy they are safely home. A memory for sure. Cheryl, I'm glad you posted about your travels! I had forgotten you had been to Utah.

So far 19 states have passed legislation to remain on DST My persnal thought is let the ones that it wouldnt benefit stay on Standard time or whatever version they would like. It certainly hasn't impacted Hawaii or Arizona.

I usually watch Saturday Night Live and then TMZ. I took the Aleve after Saturday Night Live and only made it through about 15 minutes of TMZ. I woke up at my usual 7:00, old time. I changed my watch and the clock in my office but it's still old time in the bathroom and my car.

Yesterday was 5 years since Harold died. His daughter called me last night and talked for 34 minutes. She talks so fast that I miss half of what she says. When there's a pause sometimes I have to ask her what she said because I think I need to reply. lol I'm glad she cares about me but every time she calls I think about not answering. My son won't answer his phone when she calls.

One of the campouts I went to someone was making grilled cheese sandwiches using mayonnaise on the bread to fry them. That makes the best grilled cheese sandwich. I don't know if that would work in a Panini Maker. I have only eaten tortellini once and didn't care for it. I don't remember how I fixed it. I might like it in soup.

I went to town to get another dog bed. Frosty has taken over Sugar's bed and she won't make him move. I stopped the other day to ask my vet if there was a sun screen for cats. Frosty is all white and his ears are getting sun burns. I haven't heard from the vet yet. I have been putting baby sun screen on his ears every morning and boy does he hate that. He probably goes outside and washes his ears until he gets it off.
I would make him stay in the house if it wasn't such a fight to keep him in. He likes to roam all over and come in at dark.

It looked like it was going to rain when I walked Sugar. It looks like it should be raining here on the radar but I haven't heard any.

Lyn and Barbie, thanks for asking about the weather situation here. So far, so good, lots of rain still in the forecast but we have not had the terrible flooding here that has happened in the Santa Cruz area.

Santa Cruz is about 200 miles from where I live.

About daylight savings time vs. standard time. I don't care which one is selected, I just hate hate hate having to change the clocks back and forth twice a year. Even though I am retired, just about when I (finally!) get adjusted to a time change - it needs to be changed again!

Drives me crazy!!

I hope and pray that somehow this can end.

It's been a busy day church read scriptures took a nap and fixed supper...nephew and his family came over and we had ribs baked potatoes corn chopped salad the south west version and biscuits and niece brought a apple pie... we had a nice visit... have had blue sky and no storms for a couple of days it should change tomorrow
I changed the clock in my room before I went to bed changed the one on the stove after supper it seems like it won't let you do that while baking now to figure out how to set the microwaves clock
it's past 11 usually go to my room now but here I am...

have had mayo on grilled cheese sandwiches but forget to do it... oh take my word for it when you want cinnamon toast..... don't use the A/F or if you do well figure out a way so you won't have sugar fly all over mine isn't a basket one it's a rack style.... I don't know if that would make a difference or not...
I'm hoping to be able to go to Utah for a few days the first week in April... don't know if it will work out or not. asked brother if mom could come visit found out tonight that nephew is planning on taking his girls to his dad's house for a few days as it's spring break his wife said I should go even if she spent the night with grandma I am not sure if she should be left a lone the whole day and she doesn't get home in time to fix supper for mom she is a TCI is it at the airport??? and has to be there till the last plane leaves so sometimes she doesn't get home till way late... guess I will have to give it a thought...

I think DST has to be all or nothing. Can you imagine how confusing it would be to have some states on it and others still changing? I have a hard enough time trying to remember what time it is in Arizona! For those traveling around the country it would be a nightmare especially with also dealing with time zone differences. Just my humble opinion...

Anyways, I got my trash and recycles taken out, went and got my haircut by my old manager/friend and stopped to get the coleslaw before heading back home. I am back to wearing my hair in an inverted stacked bob. It is easy to take care of and looks good on me.

The wind has picked up this afternoon but it feels good coming thru the house! Just a nice steady breeze, unlike the hurricane force winds of yesterday! It is warmer than they predicted tho, mid 80's right now. I took a little walk around a park that is across the street from the Great Clips I was at. There is a large duck pond, waterfalls, flowers, ducks, geese, turtles, etc, all surrounded by a small set of mountains. I call them mini-mountains because they are only about 800 feet high and just encircle that area in the south valley.

Just gonna chillax for the rest of the evening other than putting together my special version of the cole slaw. Tomorrow is the potluck for putters. At 4pm is another earthquake emergency practice session. I hope more than 5 people show up in my neighborhood. If the big one hits, it will be total chaos if no one here knows what they are supposed to do. It will be chaos anyways but will really help if everyone is aware of the plan.
