Thursday the 9th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday the 9th

Good afternoon to all - had to look and check date couldn't believe no one checked in yet. So any way. We are in San Carlos, MX 480 miles closer to home. Unfortunately we are going to be here longer than we'd planned. Getting some repair work to our waste lines. Driving along minding our own business when a 5 gallon plastic bucket fell off a pick up truck and went right under us. Cracked the line. Getting it fixed here in San Carlos tomorrow. Then on to Arizona on Saturday.
We just got back to RV after a lovely dinner of fish and chips in a beach restaurant. Weather here is perfect, except a little windy, but not as bad as it was in Maz. This RV park is FULL only one or two empty spaces. We are parked in full service overnighter space in street in park.
If you get a chance read my blog - url in signature - it was a very eventful day yesterday.

Watched your video. Does not look like a good day. Hope you can get leak fixed fast and get home.

Have done almost nothing today, but did have a good, long conversation with a cousin who lives in Florida. One of my other cousins, this one from Michigan, passed away last week from multiple myeloma. Amazing that so many blood diseases have really effective treatments, like mine does, and others are still far behind. He had been sick for several years, and some of my cousins are spread far apart, so I left some messages for the ones in Florida.

Going to run out to the pistachio farm market tomorrow to pick up some flavored nuts for my son's birthday. I never know what to get him because he has everything, so I try to get him specialty food stuff. If I get him things like chili or garlic flavored nuts, he hides them from his kids and enjoys them himself. (Having to hide goodies from teenagers is something I am sure you all appreciate. I used to hide ice cream in the basement freezer under the bags of vegetables.)

And how is the rain going, Anne???

I hardly got any sleep last night. No good reason. But I have to laugh because I knew I dozed off, very lightly, for a bit. Be careful if you use any of the watches/devices that know what's happening with you because it says I dozed (it calls it light sleep) for a bit over 3 hours. I almost never nap but I guess I napped, lightly lol. Otherwise I've done not much. Ty got a bath this morning. He surprised me and was very good with it. If only one of these days he'd surprise me when I want to just touch his claws. Nope, still not happening. I probably need to run to the store tomorrow. I know there's a potluck tomorrow and feel I should go since the season is ending soon. But now they've added a fish fry for Saturday night (fish they've caught when some of them go fishing). That is always excellent so I definitely want to partake. Temps weren't too bad today. Didn't get into the 90's, high of 87. And with the clouds and breeze it never felt bad out unless the sun snuck out and the breeze to a temporary break.

I read your blog this morning, Carol. How frustrating. But I'm amazed that someone is able to fix that so quickly. I think it might be good that you haven't entered the US yet or you might be waiting months.

Good evening. I peeked in here a while ago but didnt really have anything noteworthy to say so snuck back out LOL Spent the afternoon sorting my paperwork out in my office. It is a heck of a mess but will be much better soon. It is the third bedroom so I just close the door and feel much better ha ha but the time has come to organize that room. I already had organized my file drawers with manilla folders with instructions for things, important papers etc But some more have accumulated along the way so need to get them in folders too.

carol I watched your video, good grief I am surprised nothing else fell apart after all that jiggling along. Hope you get your lines fixed quickly tomorrow. Beth is right if you had tried to get it fixed in the USA it would have been a much longer time. I am sure you are ready to be home now. Those fish and chips made my mouth water. I love fish and chips done like that. We have a fish restaurant here but holy moly they want a fortune for their food. I go to the little restaurant up the street and get mine and it is $15 which I still think is expensive but given the inflation circumstance guess it isnt bad. The casino also has pretty good fish and chips and about the same price. I am embracing our food trucs instead of any of the fast food restaurants as their food is really good. When Laura was here we got food from the Thai truck and it was excellent I got 3 meals out of mine. I will go back there for sure. Dinner here wasnt very exciting tonite but I made do with it, was leftover quiche. Now I am going to have 2 dark chocolate orange slices......mmmm one of my favorites. i could eat the entire box but wont. I am limiting myself. I am not buying any girl scout cookies this year as I bought some chocolate covered digestive cookies like I used to get in Canada when I visited my grandma. I am limiting them too.

Dont forget we turn our clocks ahead this weekend. Apparently we are warming up into the 50's starting Saturday but will still have periods of rain for the next week or so. Oh well We need the rain so I am still trying not to complain, doing a little pouting but that is it LOL

Thanks for asking, Judy. It has been raining here all day, but just a light rain most of the day. Probably raining a lot more in the foothills than here in the valley, as it always does.

Keeping my eye on Oroville dam. Although I can't find verification, considering the amount of current outflow it looks like water is being released down the spillway. They had been releasing quite a bit through the power plant, but I don't think this volume of water can go through the power plant.

Oroville Dam and Spillway - at 771 feet, Oroville dam is the tallest dam in the United States
(more info below photo)

Just now checking on inflows and outflows:

https://cdec.water.ca.gov/dynamicapp/QueryF?s=ORO

Looks like outflow (11,605 cubic feet per second) is a bit more than current inflow (11,264 cfs). This really is a tremendous amount of water, both coming in and going out. 1 cubic foot equals about 7 1/2 gallons. So 11,605 cfs is equal to 86,811 gallons of water - per second - coming into the dam.

Due to this tremendous outflow (about as much is going out as is coming in), the water level in the dam is not rising at the moment - but the Feather River (outflow of Oroville dam goes into the Feather River) is definitely rising, although I don't think water is up on the levees yet.

The level of the Feather River near me is predicted to reach about 50 feet within the next few days, a "Stage II Warning" is 65 feet. "Full Alert" is 70 feet.

So still a lot of room to spare, but I am keeping my eye on things.

More water to come, of course. Watching our local tv weatherperson (Mark Finan) on his YouTube channel, this is the first of three incoming "atmospheric rivers" that will hit California over the next several days.

Luckily, this current storm is on the cooler side, but warmer storms are probably coming - and with warmer storms a massive snow melt could begin.

The worry here is not only the incoming torrential downpours, but also the snowmelt.

Stay tuned! 8-)

Nothing too exciting here today. Got up late, did a little cleaning and then spent a few hours out on the porch on the loveseat playing on my laptop. It was nice out there with the breeze blowing thru. I have almost finished my Tuna chip hotdish. One more serving left. I usually use cream of mushroom soup but I am not a big fan of mushrooms so one time I tried cream of chicken soup but it wasn't quite the right flavor either. Now Campbell's has cream of chicken and mushroom soup. I tried that this time and it is perfect!

Tomorrow morning there is our last yard sale of the season. I have nothing to sell right now but I might cruise around the park and check out other people's stuff if I get up early enough. It only goes til noon.

I tried to make an appointment with the orthopedic specialist for the second time now. Yesterday I got put on hold and then had the option to have then call me back. I got busy after that and they did call back but not for a couple hours. I tried again today and I just sat on hold for awhile before I got a person to talk to. They told me they would have someone call me back soon  . Well, I never got a call back. Will try again tomorrow. I can't imagine they are that busy! I think it is a call center tho that is taking the calls for all the locations. If I still can't get an appointment set up tomorrow, I will call my regular dr and tell them that they need to get an appointment for me.

Romeow was much better last night. Today he got to see his first duck! A female Mallard was in the back yard quacking about something and Romeow was fascinated!

I bought 2 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies last week. One was my favorite peanut butter sandwich cookie (used to be called Savannas. I forget the new name :? ), and one box of a new cookie that has salted caramel in the middle. I am not too fond of that one. I still have some left, but the PB cookies are already gone!

Good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
