Morning All, another sunny day on the island. My house plants are thriving beautifully on the wick system. Trying to think of a way to do the same with balcony plants. Watched YouTube and saw a cheap plastic oil pan used as a reservoir for water but it’s not food safe so don’t want it leaching in food plants. Don’t want anything too complicated just a wick and water. Beth, the smallest bit of caffeine in chocolate or tea after 1 or 2 in the afternoon will have me staring at the ceiling into the wee hours. Only plan for today is sweep the balcony and get some sunshine. Be safe

Good morning Shirl and all who enter later. Cloudy with occasional rain here. I just need to type "Same-O-Same-O" right now. I have been up for a while but still drinking coffee to get a pulse and blood pressure. I used to work nights and could drink coffee all during my shift, go home walk the dog, eat breakfast and go to sleep LOL guess it doesnt bother me.

Not even sure what I will do today. I guess my Income Tax that didnt get done yesterday should be on my list. It is one of my least favorite things to do, can ya tell.

Going to get another cup of java and have some breakfast then decide on my day. I have lots of leftovers to finish up. My chicken tortellini soup turned out very good. I will make it again

Good morning gals!

Yesterday, I went to the art show here in the park. Wasn't too exciting but some nice paintings. I talked to a guy there who is a woodworker to see if he would be interested in buying my slice of Sequoia tree. He said he will stop by and look at it this week.
After that, I decided to skip going to the Wildflower festival since I didn't want to drive that far and use up gas. I will be going back to that area today for church, so two longer trips isn't in my budget. My knee was also bothering me so I figured more walking probably wouldn't do it any good. I just stayed home and went to the hamburger cookout at the clubhouse and got my big burger for $4 instead.

I am getting up soon here to get ready for church. Need to get there early since it will be crowded today to hear our old favorite minister talk today.

It was extremely windy all night long and is still very breezy this morning. But the sun is shining and the birds are singing...

Supposed to get to 71 today, but still in the mid-60s at noon and quite chilly. The weather is reporting Deming, which is down the hill from us here at Rockhound, so I am thinking I need to subtract a few degrees from the projected temps due to elevation and being right on the edge of the mountains. Incredibly quiet here at night, but not very dark. I went out late to make sure my hose was empty so it would not freeze. I saw thousands of the lights from nearby Deming and throughout the valley, as well as an almost full moon! Very pretty, but obviously this is not a dark sky area.

Projects for today include counting out two weeks of pills, calling DISH to get my Dish app straightened out, and replacing the two latches that hold the drawer shut under my refrigerator. I have been propping it closed with a box and a couple of throw pillows while I drive so it does not fly open. Then maybe a walk in the desert botanical garden behind me?? Also, I have part of a skirt steak marinating in my favorite combination of vinegar, worscestershire sauce, soy, oregano, garlic, and a bit of oil. I have used this many times for flank steak, so the skirt steak should be a good experiment.

Also, when the plane I was on was getting ready to takeoff at Tucson Airport, we were delayed for about 20 minutes while a bunch of F-16s were practicing taking off and landing. Apparently, there is an air force reserve base attached to that airport and sometimes has priority. When coming back, I noticed that planes were still flying around and practicing, except we were not delayed this time. So, yesterday, I was reading a CNN story about the U.S. seeing how long it would take to train Ukrainian pilots to fly those planes, and it mentioned Tucson Airport!! Only a couple of pilots, supposedly, right now, but that might explain all the takeoffs and landings I saw.

Judy, very interesting that you might be seeing the training of some Ukrainian pilots. And cool.

Decent walk this morning then did laundry. So is washed and dried. Everything but my sheets are put away. I'll make the bed shortly. I signed up for an interesting tour for next week. The hardest part for me is it'll be a couple days after we lose an hour and my body will still be fighting getting up. I hope this helps me get past the hump it causes. What's really strange is I handle time changes so much better when traveling through them. No clue why. It's up to 84 here now. Expect to see it up another degree or two. The last couple nights have been great sleeping weather but tonight staying around 70 makes sleeping harder unless I run the AC. And I'm not against running it if necessary. Days warm, AC set around 80. Nights I can't sleep when it's that warm. How the heck did we survive our childhoods? Lol. When we finally got a it was a wall unit at the other end of the house in the kitchen. My apartment after I graduated college had no AC and I had a black and white TV. Didn't mind at all. How things have changed!

Yesterday I went to the brunch. There were 8 of us. It's probably a good thing I can't make biscuits as good as that restaurant. I wish I had ordered a couple extra to bring home. I didn't cook today, I had Christmas dinner again. I had made a TV dinner of the Christmas meal and put it in the freezer.

I didn't do much today except plant my rose bush and weed eat the rest of Sugar's yard. It got up to 88 but it's down to 69 now. I need to wash a load of something because the hamper is full.

Beth, I know what you mean about surviving childhood without air conditioning. One of my earliest memories is being at my Grandmother's house and it was so hot I was crying. My mother was wiping me down with a wet washcloth. When my dad was stationed in Texas we had a water cooler in the kitchen window. About all it cooled was the kitchen. My dad put an air conditioner in the living room sometime after I left home but he wouldn't run it. My freshman dorm didn't have air conditioning. There was a big fan that blew out at the end of the hall. We would go to class, come in and take a shower, get dressed and go to another class. Thank goodness after the first year we had air conditioning.

Just a quickie. I made mashed potatoes with a mix from the store. My friend Ginger always keeps them on hand and I bought one with garlic in it. After everyone was talking about mashed potatoes and adding cream cheese, I made the full package of these and had some jalapeno cream cheese in the fridge so added a big spoonful. They turned out great. I pulled some meat loaf from the freezer for tomorrow's dinner and of course I'll have a serving of these potatoes with it. I realize this is the easy way out, but I'll purchase these again. Pretty much a forever shelf life.

I buy those all the time, perfect amount for a couple of dinners. Beth who cares if it is lazy way out...........I sure dont. I cook and freeze main courses and often add these potatoes or rice....maybe a veggie or not.

I also recently bought the packaged garlic mashed potatoes and really liked them. Will buy more. Also, I drink a lot of milk so one thing I do is buy the dry milk packages. There are three in a box at Walmart's, and when I am getting low on milk, I mix up a package and then add it to the half-gallon bottle that still has a little regular milk in it. (Package makes one quart, so there is room to add it to half-gallon bottle. Frankly, I can't tell the difference in taste and since I sometimes add chocolate or use it to bake or make pudding, it is fine. I also buy frozen fruit, such as blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. This saves me a trip to a store in a pinch.

DId not fix my drawer, but I finished my expense report for my trip to Atlanta, and sent it away for the other POA to approve and send me a check. Also had some other POA things to do in terms of paying a few care bills and filing financial documents. The other POA and I constantly send each other copies of everything, so we both know what is going on and both agree to money being spent. It takes a lot of time.

One of the big reasons houses had basements in many parts of the country was so you could finish them and use them as retreats in hot weather. They were always cool even in the hottest summer, so we kids often played in basements. We also spent a lot of time outdoors doing things like playing in sprinklers. And a generation before ours often had sleeping porches on houses. They were usually on the second floor and screened in so you could sleep outside in the cool air during the summer.

It was just the run of the mill day both yesterday and today... didn't even get much of a nap but enough as I didn't fall asleep coloring but then I didn't do it at the normal time due to I'd already colored a couple of easy pages.. and supper was late so by the time I sat down my coloring time was up...
so those of you that have the robo vacuum what do you like about them and how easy was it to set up?
so tempting especially the room that we eat in... the big concern is that mom would trip over it..
I tried to remember that term that Sue mentioned was telling some friends about it but I called it snert it indeed was a good term we call it mud days here... I think they are a long way off

The church service was awesome! It was a full house today there because of our retired minister visiting. It was nice to see him again and even got a hug from him! There was a lot of great energy there and he gave an awesome talk. I got a lot from it, especially a better perspective on how to deal with my disappointment on things happening (or not happening) right now in my life. So that is good. I guess the minister that was ousted, was stealing money from the church!

I was going to stop at the street fair which wasn't far from the church, but I had forgotten my knee brace so I decided it wouldn't be good to be walking around all over without it, since my knee is feeling a little better now. I need to baby it. So I stopped at a WM Market on the way home for a few things.

Just watched golf and some other TV shows later. I did work on a project or two. The wind has been strong today and is really whipping up tonight again! Some gusts just shake the house! Very dusty outside too. Just checked the weather app on my phone. Says wind is at 2 mph. Maybe inside but surely not outside!!! Luckily, no rain predicted for this week. Mid 60's for highs.

When I was a kid, we finally got a window ac and it went in my parents bedroom. My mom would hang a sheet on the open linen closet door in the main hallway and nailed it across to the other wall to keep the cooler air in the 3 bedrooms at the end of the hall. It kind of worked. During the day, we kids spent the day swimming in the lake to keep cool. We also had the basement to hang out in to keep a little cooler. The basement was kind of creepy tho. There were creepy crawlies and I always felt it was haunted too. I still have bad dreams about it. But it was cooler and a safe place to go during bad weather.

Tomorrow I have a PT appointment for my sciatica at 11. Need to call my tax guy to see if I can get in there tomorrow too.

Barbie, ministers and priests can molest kids and just get transferred but let them steal money they are out of there. I'm not Catholic but I was married to one and raised one. I live a mile from the Catholic church where the priest made national news molesting boys in the early 1980's. Some of the boys were the same age as my older son and friends of his. Thank god we were Methodist. As an outside observer I didn't think some of the things he did were very priest like. Turned out I was right.
