Sunny Saturday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Saturday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Sat Feb 25, 2023 11:24 am

Morning from the 45th. Sun is out in a nice blue sky after the last remanents of clouds and light snow moved out. Clipper system came through last night and left about 2 inches of snow behind. Temp is up to 30° with a real feel of about 21° Way warmer than the about 11° that we had yesterday. Winter storm Olive long gone. Left about 6 inches of snow in my driveway and I guess a lot places in the southern part of Michigan are without out power from what I hear. They had quite a bit of ice down there. With the about 4 inches or so of snow that we received from a clipper on Monday and Tuesday we have probably picked up close to 10 inches of snow this week. There are a lot of snowmobilers up here this weekend. Nice to see the activity.

Went to town yesterday to get my taxes done, and neither the Feds or the State will be making any money from me this year :D . Ran a couple of errands and then came home and went back later in late afternoon for fish fry at church which was very crowded this week. Spent some time working on woodcraft birds in between. Exciting life here as you can see, Not!

Martha and Beth, glad you both got to your destinations safely, and hope you don’t get that Covid, Beth. Barbie, did you mention your tummy issues to your doctor. It’s been going on way too long. Karen, maybe I should have you send Henry over here. My dogs use some exercise  With Collies penchant for chasing things, they would have a ball with that thing. Velda, sorry you have been having some back issues etc. hope you get to feeling better. Shirl, , I’m sure that you are going to master that bread, one way or the other. A true Baker has work on things for a while before they get it just right. Process of hit and miss and experimenting.

Guess I will go and make myself an early lunch and then get outside with the snowblower and clean up around here. I did do the snow on Friday from the storm, but I did not do my neighbors and I also have about 3 inches in my drive because I did not do yesterday‘s either. Decided to wait till today when the weather is better and a little more warmer. Two or 3 inches of snow big deal for the snowblower or my shovel. So I am going to wish you all a nice day and get going here.

It's 74 this morning and still hazy. It was very foggy overnight. I noticed yesterday that our road sign is missing again. I live on Bayou Road and that is a popular sign. It has been stolen 3 times. It is very hard to see the road at night without the sign. My neighbor said she missed the road the other night. It will take the Parish 6 months to get us another sign. They must come from China. The next time I go to Walmart I am going to look for a couple of the little red reflectors and tape them to the stop sign post.

Shirl, have you tried to find a recipe that doesn't use weights? I don't even try to use recipes that want you to weigh things. My bread machine has been sitting on the counter for over a month. I need to use it or put it away. I haven't used it enough to be successful with it yet.

Barbie, maybe Romeow needs a fluffy black friend. lol

Judy, hope they have your motorhome fixed up.

I don't know what I'll do today. Yesterday I got a new battery for my Roomba. I charged it overnight and it ran for an hour before it docked itself. The batteries for the camera on the front porch died and got new batteries for it. I hope it doesn't give me trouble when I put it back up. Mr P patrols the porch day and night and sets the camera off all the time. If he was a Rottweiler I would really feel safe. lol

Morning All, rain and snow mix, enough to make a mess. No accumulation expect. I covered the tulips in the balcony. Martha, I found recipes that give grams and cups. I have gotten the hang of the food scale with 2 buttons. Think you need to be more accurate with measuring sourdough ingredients so kept trying. The 3 rd loaf today wasn’t bad. Now think the problem is the large cast iron Dutchmen oven. Searched all morning for a small clay bread baker. The prices are outrageous, one had a delivery charge of $15. 75 and another $25. I have Edith, the thrift store queen looking for one and also my yard sale queen. Lol Dinner tonight will be soup and flattened sourdough bread. Lol. Be safe

Just sitting on my couch under a blanket watching golf, trying to calm down after the whole work fiasco. The GM called earlier to get my side of the story.

It is cold and raining out today. Nothing too heavy but steady which is good. Gives the rain a chance to soak in rather than run off.

My stomach is churning again after feeling pretty good this morning  . Eating some yogurt and crackers. I have some Panera soup for later.

Good day to just hang out and chill...

Good evening. Had a great visit with Laura, she spent the night so we got some good chatting in. We went to town to one of the food trucks and had some really good Thai food that we brought home as it was just too much of a cold wind to eat outside there. So much food so she took the rest of hers home and I just had some for dinner and still have some left. I will go there again for sure. Laura's dog Penny and my Emma got along great as usual. I havent seen her for almost a year as she got a new busy job what with the election and new governor coming onboard and I spent most of the year sick. But things are settling down and she and I will try to see more of each other this year. Even if we just meet in Eugene for lunch or something as it is the halfway point for each of us. So very doable.

Shirl I am sure you will get that bread done just like you want it. Trial and error for sure. Barbie what a horrendous day you had. I dont blame you for quitting that is just so wrong for so called "professionals" to act. I am sure you will have a new job in no time.

That was not the way I planned to "retire"! :o I told my neighbor earlier today that place is "no longer my circus, no longer my monkeys!" I stopped at the shop tonight after they closed, to pick up my stuff. Also got some "light" food for my tummy at WM.

I did do a haircut today for a neighbor who stopped by.

It stopped raining this afternoon. Have been watching the news in LA about all the flooding and snowstorms around there. There is an RV park just north of LA on a river that started to flood. They showed video of several large RV's crashing into the river as the river banks collapsed underneath them! Luckily, everyone had just evacuated the RV's before that happened. Very shocking video to watch tho! I am sure even more shocking for the owners to watch! :o

Hopefully, I can get a good night's sleep tonight.

Ty and I are back at our winter park. He's thrilled to be back. I love watching our animals show their excitement. The wife of the manager couple had to open the door to the rig to get Ty kisses immediately after I was backed in. It was cute. It's hard to believe we'll be leaving here a month from tomorrow until fall. There's several things I want to do yet. I need to make plans lol. I do see the dentist Monday so that will be out of the way. Hopefully just a check up and cleaning needed.

Shirl it sounds like your bread is improving with each loaf. That's exciting. I'm eagerly awaiting posting a picture of your first masterpiece loaf soon.

Barbie, what happened today was the sign you needed to get out of there. And I agree with those who said to check on getting unemployment.

I have a couple weeks of laundry to take care of tomorrow, so that's on my to do list tomorrow. Ty's been in bed for an hour already so I think it's time to join him.

I think I am going to stop getting individual sized cake slices the last three I've not enjoyed the Tres Lache cake was so dry I ended up only eating half of it... just wasn't happy with it ... I like to get them because it's less waste make a cake and there is so much left over...
it was a shower day at least today no dirty looks
I got a new bedspread the one that has been on the bed has been on there for years many years it was getting thread bare and worn in some places so I sent for a bedspread there is orange in the curtain so thought that would be good... to get a orange bedspread and it is so bright... an not the right shade at all but its here and it's been washed so won't even attempt to send it back..it will brighten up the room... I haven't had good luck with ordering on line.... I didn't remember seeing embroidering for lack of the correct word in the picture it didn't show up that well...
again sorry about the very upsetting day you had to have had Barbie
glad that you are home Beth Covid free I hope
you all have a great day

Barbie, I know you cannot do hair tinting, but aren't there other places where you could work with the understanding that you could just cut and style hair? That would at least give you some income to tuck away for repairs and emergencies on the road. Surely there must be some salons that would agree to that kind of job for you.

Been cleaning and sorting stuff today. Tomorrow, I am just going to walk around and enjoy my last day at this desert and take photos of weird saguaro! Went out and got some groceries today, but just the few things i needed. I still need to make a hardware stop on Monday and pick up my other pair of shoes on my way to Piccaco peak SP. I fly out to Atlanta the next day, so want to get my few tasks done. Might even stop for some laundry.

Judy, I am only able to do haircuts now, no styles or perms. Would be very hard to get hired anywhere with being that limited. Also I can't work in a full service salon since I am highly sensitive to the chemicals for hair color and nails. Besides, with my knee and back issues, I really shouldn't be working on my feet anymore anyways.

I did apply for a part-time job last week with a beauty school locally, to do data entry work. Haven't heard back from them yet tho. I did send them a follow up letter the other day. I will find something around here I can do for awhile.

Cutting hair is one of those jobs I really sympathize with because it is so hard on backs and knees doing all that standing up. Another job that has to be really hard is being a supermarket cashier!

Data entry or anything you can do sitting down has got to be easier and a good choice for you. Good luck in finding something for the next few months!

Well, it is Sunday here and we are driving to spend a couple of days with my son and his wife.
It should be a beautiful trip with all the snow. We are driving on a main freeway through the mountains. I checked and the road is clear. (It is the road to Las Vegas from LA, so it is open)
Two local ski resorts are closed due to too much snow! And, all the local roads are closed. Never thought I would see this happening here in Southern Calif.
