Tuesday February 21

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Morning All, the sun is shining so a good day. Will be a busy day, several errands. Barbie, good luck with house sale. I hated the whole process, like living in a fish bowl. My children still laugh over selling our first house. They were young and I would holler “People coming” and they would run around picking up toys, shoving little socks, clothing under sofa cushions. Lol Sheila they do bake sourdough in loaf pans but I only have glass and was afraid to use them in high heat. I did see a clay loaf pan in a thrift store, will go back and see if it’s still there. The tulips in the pot are up about 6”, think it’s too soon, guess goofy weather. Be safe.

Morning Shirl and all. . Today is Fat Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday, depending on the religious preference. Time to clean the sweet stuff out of the house before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season. Paczki (Poonch-key), King Cakes and other regional favorites are the thing today. . I have lost my taste for the Paczki over the years. They are very heavy and rich. Doesn’t mean that I will not pacify my sweet tooth, before the end of the day though

Snowy morning here at the 45th. Temp is 27° and we have got about an inch of very wet snow. It’s just the beginning of what it’s going to become a rather snowy episode for the next couple days. Supposed to snow some more tonight and then we start a Winter Storm Watch tomorrow morning. Big storm heading this way. I am going to reschedule an appointment that I have for Thursday morning, because it sounds like it’s not going to be a day to be out there.

Didn’t get my shadowbox finished yesterday because I ran some errands in town and did a few other things. Was hoping that some scrapbook paper that I had here, would work out in the back part of the box to mount my stuff against but not big enough. And with Hobby Lobby temporaruly out of business here, I can’t go look for anything else. So I’m just going to mount it to the wood. But I did finish the 1 yard bird and now I am working on two more, including the one that I am redoing. But first thing this morning I need to package up and freeze the ground beef that I bought, since Meijer had it on sale for $2.99 a pound. I picked up close to 12 pounds. That will keep me stocked for a while, as I am completely out. Then I have some spackling on the walls in a few places that I need to paint over and I also want to run the vac. Then I will get back to work on my craft stuff.

Thought of Beth and Martha last night when I heard about the shooting at the one Mardi Gras parade. Hoping they weren’t anywhere around there. The Petoskey steel drum band from Petoskey here, was also supposed to be in that parade. BJ, I’m glad to hear that the majority of your family is going to honor your brother’s wishes. It’s so hard when a family gets split over these types of things. I have a bit of that in my family too with my cousins. One is estranged from the family or I should say They are estranged from him, and don’t want anything to do with him. But yet when the brother died last October, , he was there at the funeral. I have been talking with him quite since and on and off over the years. The others don’t want to bother with him that’s their business not mine.
Judy I hope you get your battery issues taken care of.

Well I guess I had better get my act together and get something accomplished around here. The dogs are having their morning nap after laying outside in the snow until thry finally got covered with it and decided to come in. I think they’re like getting all dried with a towel oafter they come in. Taking a snow bath I guess

Have a nice day everybody

Good morning Shirl, Sue & all that check in!

Shirl, Steve & I lucked out selling our home in MD as we sold it to a commercial business and all they wanted was the property. But reading your post about the people coming is hilarious! I hope the clay loaf pan is still available. Sue, Steve & I have celebrated Shrove Tuesday every year, as did my parents when I was growing up. We have invited friends from the resort we live in to join us for pancakes and sausage. Stay safe in the winter storm you're getting.

It is already above 70 degrees and we'll get into the low 80's later on. I just made a batch of Saltine Toffee Crackers for one of the desserts for Sunday's celebration in the clubhouse. I'm going to make another batch of Lemon Cookies and a Texas Sheet Cake to go with the Toffee Crackers I just made. I need to get outside to clean up the pergola for this afternoon's Shrove Tuesday meal.

Good morning gals! Got up early this morning to get ready to head out to deliver the printing press. Good thing we decided to do it this morning since there is a high wind warning starting this afternoon and I will be driving thru a pass that is supposed to get over 80 MPH winds!

Big weather happening this week! Huge winter storm heading across the country. Minnesota is in the middle of the path and supposed to get over a foot of snow in Minneapolis! South Dakota is supposed to get hit with it too. Hunker down Pat! :o
Here, starting around 4pm today will be high winds around 50+ mph and dust storm warnings, all for the next 2 or 3 days! High for tomorrow here will be only 53* I will be hunkering down here too, other than my doctor appointment tomorrow morning. The road going there is flat and open and very prone to wind and dust/sand blowing across, so I will have to be careful heading thru that area. I think New Orleans and that area is supposed to get really warm now so that is the place to be this week! Good for Martha and Beth!

My knee feels pretty good this morning after a good night's sleep. I sleep on my back with a soft pillow under my knees, which seems to help a lot. While at work, I am moving back and forth (side to side) around my chair which really messes with my knee. I just got my new knee brace last night with the side hinges so I will see if that helps more to stabilize my knee. Tomorrow's appointment won't amount to much other than my dr looking at it and then making an appointment for either an x-ray or MRI, and then after that a specialist to determine the problem and solutions. But it is a start.

I have some small projects to work on around here this week and some new books to read so will be an easy, relaxing week (other than howling winds and dust outside  Wind makes me nervous :? ). Probably will wait til next week for an open house since everyone else will be hunkering down this week too, around here.

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good morning all. Kind of cloudy and spurts of rain this morning. Guess the cold weather event will be here for a few days starting tomorrow. Weather people here are very excited LOL Since the temps will be 18-20 (supposedly...again) and snow predicted this is really messing with my electric conservation plan. Good thing I have long underwear and sweats. Oh yes and let us not forget my heated throws. And a dog ha ha

I have errands to run today also. Need to get my labs drawn but not today. I want to get there early before all the peeps have seen their docs and got labs ordered. I will shoot for 8 am tomorrow. Will take my cardboard today, donation center with a few things and the grocery store for a few items.

Glad Beth and Martha were not in New Orleans....nuts everywhere. Seems we have shootings every day anymore. People are getting desensitized to it I fear. I dont go anywhere there are crowds but they lurk all over so one never knows when a simple grocery run could end in a shooting.

Time for a shower and get this show on the road. Henry is busy doing his thing in the bedroom and dining room. I have him on a schedule. Monday and Friday is the living room, family room, hallway and laundry room. Tuesday is the master bedroom and dining room. He gets time off the other days, unless I decide to have him do the kitchen and breakfast dining.

Sue, I really like Paczki when people brought them into the office, which was always, but I used to squeeze about half of the jelly out of the middle because it was too sweet! And I do miss having a large freezer connected to my refrigerators so I could buy things on sale and freeze stuff like I used to. Way back when, I even used to buy a whole beef tenderloin. It was expensive, but I would cut it up into inch-thick filets, and the overall price per pound was about half what the steaks would cost individually.

Rain last night and drizzle today in Mesa, so expect to have a half inch before morning. There are some morning doves that hang around my site, and today in the drizzle they are sitting on a low part of a dead cactus, all hunkered down and looking like little grey balls of feathers! The temps also dropped a lot from yesterday, so I expect they are not only damp, but cold. The desert around here needs the rain so I do not mind a day inside, though I might go for a walk later.

I should add that they did have a lot of rain here earlier in the fall and winter, so they are not really in a drought, and there is a lot of grass growing between the cactus, so there should be a terrific wildflower season in 2-3 weeks, I am told.

It was a great final night for the Krewe of Krewe parade. Good food, a good parade and I've collected a lot of beads lol

It looks like wind for traveling tomorrow.

We are currently having a high wind event! :o I keep hearing things hitting the house. Hopefully, they are just palm fronds! As long as the palm trees don't come down, I should be OK since my big willow tree is no longer there to be a threat! Still sounds really scary out there tho! Romeow is hiding in the closet. I might have to join him in there! Winds are supposed to continue all night and thru the day tomorrow. Should be interesting going to the dr appointment tomorrow morning with all the dust and sand blowing around and collecting on and drifting across the roads.

My new knee brace seems to work pretty well. It is easier to bend my knee with the hinges but stabilizes the sides from sideways movement. It is a lot more comfortable than the other braces I have used. It felt really weird when I first put it on but it turned out I had it on backwards!

I guess I won some money from last weeks putters. I sure wasn't expecting that!

Be careful if you are in the path of the storms heading across the country! Wind, snow, or otherwise!

woke up to it snowing don't know when it started but it ended early afternoon..we got quite a bit . and it's suppose to snow during the night but the percentages dropped down so I am not sure that we will get any... can only hope...
it's easy to think that because there has been rain's during the fall and winter that the drought is over I don't tend to think that way the drought in some areas has been going on for close to 20 years where some winter's some moisture would happen but not as much as needed.. I know that it's been several years out in the BLM land around Q that we just haven't had has much some but not much.... one winter of moisture doesn't undo what it's take several to happen.... but then I'm not a scientist but how I wish I would be there to see the desert blooming it is so beautiful when it does... and even when it doesn't ... I never expected to grow to totally enjoy the desert...
I tried replicating a recipe today that I've not tasted ... seen an ad for either Domino's or Pizza Hut that should tots with cheese melted on it so though that should be easy to do... I think I did it wrong mom didn't even try it and I didn't have seconds...
need to go it's later than normal
you all have a great day
