Monday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Mon Feb 20, 2023 9:14 am

Morning everyone. Sun is trying to get out from the clouds. Temp is what is 26°. We had a beautiful weekend with partly cloudy skies and hit the mid 40’s yesterday. Felt like a spring day. The 5 1/2 inches of snow that we got all melted again. But there is more in the forecast for tonight into tomorrow morning. Next week will be the beginning of March and March 1 of course is the first day of Meteorological Spring. The seasonal battle between spring and winter has already begun. The days are getting longer and the sun is getting warmer and we are bouncing back-and-forth between warm and cold and rain and snow. As others if you have mentioned, DST will be starting in a few weeks. i for one am not looking forward to DST becoming permanent. For those of us in the Northern latitudes, having permanent DST, means our mornings will not be light until 9 AM. All we will gain will be an hour in the evening, which means instead of getting dark at 5, it will be 6. No big advantage there during the winter months. Just means that the schools, those people who are commuting to work or appts., and businesses will be starting to open in the dark. There are a lot of other things too, including throwing off our circadian rythm. I would rather see us just stay on standard time. It might make our evening get dark a bit after 5 and the mornings get light around about 8, but now days are getting longer and we are getting light by 7 AM and not getting dark until after 6 p.m.

Anybody who may be watching the Mardi Gras parade, the Petoskey Steel Drum Band fromMichigan here, is supposed to be in that parade. Beth and Martha, do you think it was worth going to that rally? Sounds like you gals are having more fun just doing things on your own.

Barbie, sounds like you’ve got a really good real estate agent now. Especially if she knows how to stage a house. She is right in putting things away because you do not wanna have a lot of stuff sitting out, especially on your kitchen counters and other places. The object is to try to keep things as open as possible so that a prospective buyer can visualize how they can put their stuff in there. I kept everything off of my countertops in my kitchen and I also kept a set of good towels for my bathrooms, so when I was having a showing I would put those out. I watched a lot of HGTV shows and I learned how to stage from them. Keeping my fingers crossed for you :D

The shadow box is finished and now I just have to get the stuff that goes inside placed in there and attach the back, then vanish that. I have one Yard bird finished and I am working on another one right now that I had to redo part of, because I wasn’t happy with how it was turning out. But today I have a couple of errands I need to run before mother nature decides to get snowy again. I have to go get the dog licenses too. So I had better get a move on here. Have a great day everybody :)

Good morning Sue It is a chilly morning for us here. Clear and 29 but should warm up to 58 today. Good weather in my book but we do have a Winter storm warning with temps plunging into the high teens low 20's Tuesday Wednesday and Friday then back to more normal temps. We shall see.

Sue your state did not vote for DST So for now you are safe. This is a list of the states that want to enact it if Congress ever gets off their butts. Not sure what is on my agenda for today yet. Only on my first cup of coffee ha ha

The DST Sunshine Act would make it permanent for all states, not just the ones who want it. Otherwise that would be very confusing for different states to be on different times. Just trying to figure out Arizona is confusing enough for me!
"The Sunshine Protection Act, which would make daylight saving permanent for the entire nation..."

Having some bathroom issues this morning :? Just took some Pepto. I will mention this stuff to my doctor tomorrow when I go for my knee.

I found the directory for my park while going thru some stuff last night, and I found the lady who's hair I was supposed to cut the other day. I will stop at her place after work today with a huge apology and an offer of a free haircut.

I better get back to getting ready for work... have a good day!

It was a lovely 62 degree sunny day here.
The last week has been very difficult and I want to say thank you to all who sent their condolences for my brother. Sadly the situation evolved to the point that my other brother was his only family who attended the service. His children, cousins, best friends and I plan to have the service he wanted at a later date.
Barbie I'm happy your new realtor seems to be better than the other one you had. Fingers crossed for a fast sale! Also I hope your doctor can figure out your stomach issues. Sue and Karen your weather sounds like you have something different just about every day.
I have been busy today and finally got my tires checked as a low pressure light has been on for several weeks. Apparently I need new ones which wasn't good news.
The dogs are saying it is time for their dinner so guess I better get with it.

BJ, it is sad when family gets torn apart after a death, due to disagreements and sometimes greed. It can bring out the worst in people. My brothers and I made a promise to each other not to let that happen after my dad passed. Luckily, the house was in a trust to us kids so nothing to fight about there. But during the clean up of my dad's house, I sure had to bite my tongue a lot to keep from going off on my brother Paul. I kept the peace for my other brother, David, who was in the hospital from his terrible car accident. I wanted to keep my promise to him. It sure was hard tho with all the crap Paul and his wife were pulling on me behind my back. I just vented to my friend next door each night and then kept my mouth shut. I am glad you all are going to have another memorial service for your brother.

I ended up getting a knee sleeve at WM today to go under the other knee brace I was wearing for more support. It did help. Stomach was still grumbling all day. I bought some soup and crackers and mild things to eat, before heading home.

The lady I was supposed to do the haircut on the other day, sent me an email this morning asking if we could do the haircut today, which I just did about an hour ago. Apparently, she forgot about the haircut that day and wasn't even home and was worried that I was mad that she stood ME up! So all is forgiven and she was very happy with her haircut. Whew!

I am not going to play putters tomorrow due to my knee. However, I am planning to drive out to Beaumont about a half hour from here. A lady is buying an antique printing press from me that I have been dragging around, since we found it in my dad's attic while cleaning it out. We think it belonged to my grandfather when he did photography and made prints of his photos. My brother was gonna throw it out but I knew it was probably worth something. I put it on CL about 6 months ago and yesterday I got a response from a lady who wants to buy it. So I am going to deliver it to her tomorrow. I am glad it will be getting a new home finally. One less thing to figure out what to do with later.

Now I have 4 days to relax, do a few things around here to finish staging this place and get it ready for an open house. I have to check the weather forecast since I heard we are supposed to get rain, high winds and cold temps sometime this week. I want to have that on a nice day.

Just gonna chill here tonight and rest my knee. Have a good evening!

Woke up this morning, put stuff away and unhooked my rig, then went to turn engine on to put slides in, but it refused to start. So, I turned on the generator and used my emergency start button with it. Got engine started, so immediately put slides in, and drove off. I even left engine running at the dump station, but managed to get it to tire dealer. I figured that was the biggest priority because do not like to drive on low tire pressure. Made it there and turned engine off while tire pressure was checked. While guy was working on tires, I gave CoachNet a call and told them my problem and asked them to find me a place that would check battery and sell me a new one if I needed it. Was able to start engine again and drove to back of large lot behind tire dealer, while I left engine running to charge up battery.

Whew. Then on to Walgreens to pick up 6 prescriptions I had called in 5 days ago. FYI, Walgreens is having a lot of their prescriptions filled by a "central processing office," so for the third time, in spite of discussing this with pharmacist and his promising me they would have all my prescriptions filled by noon today, only four were filled when I got there, and I was supposed to come back in two days for other two!!! I did a lot of loud complaining and said next time I guess I needed to take down names of the pharmacist, etc. (I also said I was seriously considering switching to CVS or Walmart, but they said that CVS was going to do the same thing very soon.) Finally, lady who seemed to be in charge got involved, and I told her I was driving a 32' vehicle and it was not easy to just drop by more than once to pick things up, which is why I had made sure they would be ready. So she went through four bins of prescriptions that had arrived that morning but had not been checked in. (They never told me that they might be in the recent shipment when they told me to come back in two days.) Duh! My two promised prescriptions were in those bins, so I had a wait, but got out without having to make a second trip. Whatever happened to things being ready when promised???

So, I guess the lesson is to personally call before you go to pick up prescriptions to make sure they are really, really ready!! At least CoachNet came through and called me back after they found a place for me to get battery checked out but earliest is Thursday morning, so I called them to make sure they knew I was waiting for rig and to double-check the time of the appt.

Made it back to Usery Mtn SP, and all set up for the night. Had done my usual of going out without breakfast or lunch, so fixed myself something right away.

I did fix supper tonight that is about my day other than gathering up garbage but we can't really count that as accomplishing something... went to take the big can down to the street opted not to the driveway was full of wet snow it's hard enough in just a skiff of snow let a long wet up to the ankle snow... so far mom hasn't asked about it ... if she does will just say couldn't do it but not going to volunteer the information she will just worry about it..
my dd had a tree taken out as to why I can't remember other than it was a possibility of falling down... so while I was doing a word search subject was tree's of course ones I don't know or at least have heard of I google to see what it is... most I can find couldn't find one called English so guessing it wasn't a tree but a broad amount of trees... I did see two or three trees that I thought would be a good replacement so HAD to call dd one was really pretty it wouldn't be a shade tree but more of a patio accent tree it had a name but it is called Hong Kong Orchid maybe the book in on bed and I'm too lazy to go check did look on phone to see if I just put in B if it would come up in my history guess I need more than the B   anyway a really pretty tree and one that the flower has a fragrance then later I text her another tree and told her might be the last as I was through with the tree subject ... she laughed
did salmon in the A/F was really good and did some steak fries found a recipe for seasoned salt on line so put that on them I thought it was really good... although I think ot look more like seasoned salt it needed more paprika mom only eat one or two not sure if she was more interested in the salmon and corn or just didn't like them..
we actually got up to 38 today was so shocked supposed to snow tonight and some tomorrow as well even up to 90 percent I think tomorrow night/into the AM
Hopefully Barbi that your house has a good open house when it happens
ran across a video on the weather app about your dam Anne it seems to have gained a lot but not out of the woods
and I stand corrected as I mentally visualized sour dough bed it is in the round not loaf style so totally misspoke
you all have a great day
