Tri Tip Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tri Tip Thursday

Postby BarbaraRose » Thu Feb 16, 2023 12:06 pm

Good morning gals,

Getting ready to get up and moving this morning. I need to clean up and put stuff away before the new agent comes over possibly tomorrow to look at my place and take new photos.

Romeow has been a pest overnight and this morning. I think he wants something but I can't figure out what. He has a full bowl of food and water, and a clean litter box, access to the porch, and hugs and kisses, so not sure what else he wants. :?

Sunny and much less windy this morning. I got the new garden hose and sprayer I ordered last week so I need to hook that up today and get rid of the other one.

BJ, condolences for the loss of your brother. That is always a hard thing to go thru but then to add on issues with the will, etc, between family members, makes it even more stressful. (((hugs)))

Tonight is the Community Tri Tip dinner. Am SO looking forward to that! The first time I had tri tip was in SLC with Linda while moving out here 15 years ago. We stayed with a friend of hers for a couple days there and she made tri tip for us and it was SO good! I have been in love with it ever since!

Have a good day!

Barbie, the Tri Tip does sound good. Seems like you hardly hear anything about it anymore. I certainly hope that the new agent does better than the one you’re getting ready to dump. Maybe he was getting to a point where he was losing interest since he was planning on having her take over.

BJ, sorry to hear about your brother. And also about All the aggravation over the will.
Irmi, I too wish I could join the anniversary party. Sounds like a it’s going to be a great time. Steve has gotten to be an expert on cooking the on the Egg. Wish they would make a small version of the Egg as I don’t need a big one. But maybe they do. I have never really looked into it.

We had another major outage for a Bit yesterday. This time it was the Internet that went down  Fortunately it was back online In not too long of a time. Sunday it was the unidentified object that got shot down, Monday it was a power outage in part town due to an accident. But that didn’t affect me. And yesterday it was the Internet area wide. And then when the Internet did come back on, my iPad that I was on when it went out, didn’t reconnect to my network, so took me awhile to figure out why. Even had an online chat with my cable company over my phone, to make sure that my equipment was working right and they said it was perfect. I finally figured out by going into my settings, to just ask it to rejoin my network and it did. Life is getting exciting and Northern Michigan, folks

Today we are sitting on the Northern edge of a storm going below us. Winter weather advisory’s are in effect up to our county line. But I have never known mother nature to stop at County line’s. We might get one to three this afternoon, but snow is not expected to last long. With the upper 40° weather that we had yesterday and the day before, our snow is down to probably 3 inches maybe. There are there bare patches around too and it’s icy here and there due to the thawing. Won’t be much going on for winter sports this weekend except for downhill skiing, because the snowmobile trails are either ice or mud. But it’s cold out there. Only in the mid 20’s.

Shadow box project is coming along slow but sure. I have the frame finished and the outside trim on the front. I am waiting for the wood filler to dry along the edges in places where I put nails down in below the edge of the wood just a little bit so they don’t show. Once that is done then I am going to sand it down and put the first coat of paint on it.

Molly is bugging me to take a WALK, so I guess I will take them for a short one up to the end of the road here and back because I know that it is down to the bare pavement and I don’t have to worry about icy spots like I do going around the other way. This weather has been hard on my dogs because we can’t walk in some of the places that we want to because of the melting and refreezing. I had a lake in my backyard here from the thawing, so Piper and I couldn’t play with her ball. The water has since soaked into the ground, so now we can do something if she wants to. We can also play some on the driveway now too because the blacktop is clear.

So time to get off and get Miss whinney taken care of here. Then I’ll come back and work on my box some more.

Good afternoon, been busy this morning and going to get busier here in a few minutes. I am going to shampoo the carpet on the other side of the house now. Well just the family room and the hallway. I am waiting on my dryer so I wont have to walk on the carpet to get it out of the dryer. Been to the grocery store. Just ordered online and picked up some of their sale items and a few other things. If I go in the store it seem things just jump in my cart and I spend way more money. Even if I just go in for the sale items I always buy way more stuff so this is working for me once in a while.

We have another cold spell coming but no snow here in the valley. Heck my front yard hasnt melted yet as it is in the shade. Oh well Will get going now so I can get settled in the living room so that when I am done I can enjoy a Hazelnut Mocha.

Martha and I skipped going to see and hold baby alligators this morning. Done that before. We did go to the Bayou rum distillers for a tour and rum tasting. 6 types were out to taste. It was interesting. I tasted a few, but rum isn't my thing. One was good. But not to win me over to drinking rum lol. If any of you drink rum and have had Bayou rum, it came from where we were this morning.

One of the highlights of this week for me was going to be the lighted boat parade. Dang weather has caused it be be cancelled. I'd already decided to not go out to tonight's dinner to make sure I got to the parade and don't think I'll go. To many other things I'd rather spend money on than a noisy, crowded dinner. I sound like a bah humbug here, don't I? Tomorrow's a busy day and I don't think weather will cancel any of it so it's ok to be lazy the rest of today. Yes, I'd rather be at the parade though. Pouting.

Beth....having traveled with Liz and several other ladies on here one thing that most of us agree on.....sitting in crowded restaurants and/or loud eating situations while trying to enjoy listening to and participating in conversations is usually doesn't work so well for folks with hearing aids. The background sounds etc make following conversations difficult. Give me a small group of about four and little background music anytime. I think there have been times when a group of us were trying to go out for dinner and we walked out of restaurant without even taking a seat.....

Sorry about your boat parade Beth. I love lighted boat parades! I would be disappointed too. I also am not a fan of rum but I am sure the tour was interesting. And noisy places are not my thing either. I have ADD and am very sensitive to loud noise. It all just gets muffled and echos around in my head. (That is what drives me crazy at work with all the WM noise in the background). I hate not being able to have a conversation with someone without having to shout. Even here when they have bands playing (there will be one tonight at the dinner too), they play way too loud. You would think with older people there, that they would turn it down a little.

Got the house clean. Need to drop off trash and cardboard and do laundry (mostly bedding). I bought a new Bed In A Bag at WM since I needed new sheets anyways and this whole thing was about the same price ($35) as just a set of sheets alone would cost. It is more of a neutral color and I got new curtains that match, so my room looks nice and neat and not so bold of colors now. Will be nice to have a new comforter, and sheets that actually fit and don't come off every night (new sheets are 12" deep so they fit over the whole mattress and foam topper now).

I hope the new agent will be pleasantly surprised when she comes over to see my place since she seems to think it is a "fixer-upper". I have it looking really nice and neat (ie, sparse) in here (just don't look in the cupboards! ).

Romeow has been pretty quiet all day so he must have gotten over whatever he was upset about this morning.

My ride is here, gotta go eat! :D

Warning: "Must be a stupid old woman" rant! Sat on uncomfortable chair in office area of Freedom RV just north of Tucson for almost 6 hours yesterday. They did not have a real customer lounge and expected people to sit outside or just leave vehicle. Needed an oil change, new plastic cover for my refrigerator, and to get my tire pressure checked because at least one was low, per my tire minder.

Well, as I was sitting, I told the lady receptionist/service person to make sure to tell the service guy that I wanted all six tires filled to 80 lbs. She replied that they went by the tags on the doors. (Like I probably did not know the correct tire pressure.) I told her that there were no tags on the cab doors and if there had been, they would have reflected the base chassis before they put a motorhome on top of it. I told her the service person would not find the manufacturer tag because it was hidden behind a drapery. (Note: hidden tag said 75 lbs front and 80 rear, so I told her that.) She repeated that the service man would know where it was and go by whatever it said. (I think she kind of sneered while she said this, but that may just be my imagination.)

She suggested if I had questions about tire pressure that I should ask a tire dealer. I told her I already HAD done that, and was told to put 80 in the front because they had been wearing as if they were too low for the weight. Of course, she ignored that and told the service man nothing. I did not pursue it, as I should have, and figured at least the guy would put in 75 and 80. Anyway, about 3/4 of the way between Tucson and Phoenix today, I turned on my tire minder and discovered that after driving 100 miles and being warm, all the tires were showing only 70lbs each!!!! Basically, he took air out of each tire, except maybe the one that was low!! :x

So, Freedom RV had closed by then, but when i got set up tonight, I called Discount Tire and made an appointment for Monday to get air added to the tires so they are properly inflated!!! I am going to call Freedom RV and chew them out tomorrow and tell them I was upset that they ignored my requests, and I did not like being treated like an idiot. You know they would not have ignored me had I been a man.

Exactly, Tina. Going to the mandatory meeting last night hurt my ears and thus meant I couldn't hear or understand most going on. Finally people mainly shut up but I wouldn't have gone in there by choice. Some events I'll deal with it, but it has to be something important (or mandatory).

even if it is something small it is always nice to accomplish what I had in mind to do today...
cleaned out the pellet stove and organized a couple of shelves so I had an idea of what I have can wise... I think 7 cans various size of pineapple surfaced  :o sorta have like things with like things... sorta if I was smart I would have inventoried it but didn't do that...
it's cold tonight and for some reason the house feels colder the phone says 0 make the -1 don't know what the feels like temp is though.. last night I went out to turn down the pellet stove and saw that it was 68 since I had it set at 71 I went to see what had happened ... opened the top to see if there was pellets in it hardly any used... so looked in the window and the bowl or whatever it is called was full of pellets ... summarized that it was plugged with can't think of the name of it put stuff that didn't burn up right... so it sorta smothers it's self.. and the pellets come down cause the thermometer says it needs to start up again and repeat the bowl was totally full of unused pellets so dug them out vacuumed it out and left if at temp as I normally turn it down to 65 however I wanted to make sure it was working right I intended to come back later and turn it down that didn't happen  it now works but still the house feels colder tonight... ought to go see if the back down is closed tightly it was but who knows now...
Beth how disappointing to not get to see the boat parade with lights.. I would be disappointed as well
make pancakes for supper the old way... so much better than the mixes in my opinion anyway
and the bacon was just right...
Barbi hopefully the "new" realtor will be impressed... it sounds like the old one wasn't and there fore didn't make any efforts at all...
BJ so sorry about your brother... it's always hard then when there is drama along with it it doesn't help
you all have a good day

Judy, I had a similar situation with the boat I had back in '86. The boat started vibrating really bad one time and my neighbor (who knew a lot about boats) said my motor mounts were loose, so he tightened them by hand so I could get home. I called the boat dealership and told them to send someone out to tighten the motor mounts because they were loose and I was leaking some oil. They came out and added some oil, left a mess and said it was fixed. The next time I took it out, the boat started vibrating really bad again. I called them back and asked if they had tightened the motor mounts like I had asked. They had not since they didn't think that was an issue (don't listen to the young gal who thinks she knows about such things! ). I asked them to come back out and check again. They reluctantly agreed to. Later they called me and told me that my motor mounts were loose! Oh really?! They finally tightened them and everything was fine after that. So I know what you are dealing with.

Well, the tri tip was disappointing and not very good. Could barely chew it. Wasn't the 'melt in your mouth' kind I have had in the past. The potatoes and gravy were awesome tho! Could have had a whole plateful of that! I did have seconds on those. Of course the band was playing SO loud before and after dinner that no one could have a conversation. I left right after the band started back up after we got done eating.

Do you ever get an itch you can't scratch, because it is deep under the skin? I think it is actually a nerve thing but I have that now on the bottom of my foot! Took a brush to it for a bit but that didn't help any.

Am already in bed and it isn't even 10pm yet. Got a long day at work tomorrow.

Among the other irritating things that happened while I was getting the oil change is that the service guy at the end was filling out paperwork and asked me what the mileage was. I told him 184,300, but the lady at the desk was surprised. She had checked the mileage at the beginning and told him it was 84,300!! I repeated that it was 184,300, and she said "Are you sure?"

Like who has driven this rig for the past almost 11 years??? Her or me??? I said I bought it new and ought to know the correct mileage!!! She was still doubtful but corrected it in her computer records. She was in her early 50s, I think, but I hope she gets old fast and gets questioned on things like how old she is and her address.

By the way, I bought myself a new pair of shoes this afternoon and ordered a second pair that they did not have in my size. The second pair will be in on next Friday. Considering that I have not bought shoes in three years, I think I deserve them. Imelda Marcos I am NOT.
