Friday, Feb. 10

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday, Feb. 10

Good Morning. Woke up to a winter wonderland out there this morning. We got about maybe 3 inches of snow after all the rain sleet, snow and whatever else we had yesterday. It’s one of those stick to everything snowfalls. If the sun was out and the sky was blue it would be absolutely beautiful, but the clouds are hanging tough. The temperature is 27°. I’ll be hauling out the snowblower just a little bit here. I don’t know if it’s going to like blowing out this wet mess but we’ll see. It’s supposed to warm up and then I may 40s by next week so things are gonna go down again. But this will be a good packing snow for the winter sports folks this weekend.

It has been interesting reading about the various expenses as far as utility costs from different parts of the country. But we cannot compare with each other because we all have different things. For some of us, utilities can be gas, electric, water, sewer etc. and others like myself it’s just gas and electric. I am at a private water well and have a septic system, so I have no expenses in that regard, except for septic pumping about every 5 years which runs around $300. My utility bills for last month were $174.60. I paid a little over $3100 for 2022. We also live in different climates, have different size homes, different insulation levels and windows and stuff.

Barbie, as others have said, it is not unusual for other agents to show your home. It was the same with mine. Out of the showings that I had on my house I think my agent may have been responsible for two. Homes are listed on a multi list and buyers will go to different real estate offices looking for homes and some times they are selling their own through that office. If an agent from another office called your office and so they have a buyer who would like to see your house, your agent will honor that request. This is the way the market works. BJ, this might help answer your question to Barbie about listing it herself

I think this is going to be a putter around with word crafts and stuff day. Time for a break from the deep cleaning and I also need some painting supplies, paint and spackling before I can go any farther. I might go up to town today but I’m not sure yet.

Right now, I had better get myself cleaned up and get out there and get it after that snow. Then I will see where I go from there. So you all have a nice day out there.

Hardy Lakes GTG group (They have their own Facebook group) appears to be going well for those that were able to attend.... Vicki Coleman reminded folks that are/or have made the tough decisions to sell their RVs that there are businesses that will rent you an RV and set it up for you at a campground. Might make attending a few GTGs still possible. I know that dog show folks do that particularly for some of the larger National Specialites.

Sue, it's so beautiful there. Very windy here. So now I'm really hoping it does down before I'm taking the rig on the road Sunday.

Alice (Avalen) I hope you're having a great birthday.

And I'm off to walk Ty and try staying upright lol

Hey Shirl, have you ever had Jersey Mike’s subs? They are opening here next week. Just wondering how they are.

Well, Sue, I was all set to make another snarky comment about "deep cleaning" and etc., but the photos you posted of your house just about broke my heart.

Wow. Just wow. And thank you.

Thanks from me also for the beautiful snow photos! I love to look at snow, especially when it is new and fresh, but I no longer want to play in it or live in a cold climate--just my getting old, I guess.

It is windy here today, but sunny and fairly warm--high supposed to be 69. Supposed to be 77 tomorrow, when I am meeting Cheryl and Brenda for lunch. Am going to drive into Tucson because I also need to get something notarized and do an entire month's worth of laundry!! Good thing I have a lot of clothes, but things are getting pretty skimpy in terms of choice. Had to delve into my smaller size things, so getting desperate to get laundry done.

Not much else happening, other than my doing a lot of sleeping and not much else!!

It's another gray day. I finally had to switch from ac to heat in the house. The wind hasn't gotten here yet.

I got the push mower loaded yesterday afternoon but the repair shop closes at 3:00. I called this morning and they told me the guy that runs the place wasn't there so call in the morning. I could have waited to go to town until tomorrow but I wanted to go to the bank. Went to Walmart and spent too much money. Ant poison didn't make it to my list so forgot I needed that. Yesterday I got a Sisters on the Fly flag in the mail and I wanted to go to Lowe's and get a flag holder. Forgot that too. I hadn't had fried fish in several weeks so picked up some for lunch.

I was going through some old newspapers and saw that my boy's bus driver for many years died January 1. It doesn't do me much good to take the newspaper. Usually someone will post the obituary on Facebook.

I don't know what I'll do this afternoon. Probably my usual nothing. I got some pecans out of the freezer to make Pralines this morning but I'm out of the mood now. Maybe later. I was going to get a box of brown sugar at Walmart and they only had it in bags. I don't like the bag. The Praline recipe calls for a box and if the brown sugar is in a bag I have to weight it.

Good afternoon. Weather is fine, light rain this morning but the sun is out now and 57. So quite pleasant. I did laundry today from my trip south. Sue your snow is beautiful. I could look at that all day....from INSIDE. Had to go pick up my mail and then went and picked up my grocery order from Safeway. I needed a few things and they only charge if you dont buy $30 worth. They had several things on sale that I needed to managed to get up to $42 LOL But by not going in the store if I only need a few things I save money. If I have quite a bit to buy I go to the cheaper grocery store and spend at least twice as much. I like their digital coupons at Safeway easy peasy for me. Having shrimp and scallops for dinner tonight. Forgot I had some catfish in the freezer or I might have had that.

Sue I love Jersey Mikes sandwiches. It is my favorite sandwich place. We dont have one here in my town. They slice the meat and cheese right there so you know it is fresh. A bit pricey but I try to go there every time I go to Medford but didnt make it this time. I think it is totally worth it.

Well time for my Mocha and catch up on some of my recorded shows.

Good Evening All. Sue, your snow pictures are beautiful and I remember when Maryland had lots of winter snow. There isn’t a Jersey Mikes in my area , we have capriotts which is a good sub. Martha, sourdough bread is very involved so I will keep you updated. I have spent this week watching YouTube and almost gave up. One woman who lived on a homestead said she learned and accomplish many things but gave up on sourdough bread. Years later she wanted to try again and her husband said “you want progress not perfection”. Thought that was a wonderful statement. If you watch enough videos you understand the work involved and see pictures of the perfect loaf which is light, moist and full of large holes. Then I found the man who said he has been baking soughdough for years and he is lazy. He said you can’t eat a hole or spread butter on a hole. Lol I He isn’t a perfectionist but his bread looked awfully good. I have supplies coming from Amazon and I’m sure there will be disasters but at least I will have a challenge to accomplish. Be safe

Shirl, I remember how hard it is to get the sourdough starter going and keeping it going. I don't eat much bread and I have to keep it in the refrigerator to keep it from molding. I think I'll just buy a loaf.

Years ago there was some kind of Amish cake recipe going around that started with a starter someone would give you. I made that a few times but got tired of messing with it.

Martha, you are leading a busy life with camping, groups and many fur friends. I’m keeping company with the laundry basket so trying to make a loaf of bread sounds like fun. Lol

sourdough start reminds me that I need to make pancakes with my start haven't used it for awhile... it's an old one... growing up we had a neighbor who used a start hers was kept on the counter and was water based ours was kept in the fridge and milk based... there was a difference in the taste as I recall... I have made sour dough scones (fry bread) which it's start is just one that you mix up the night before it's not kept growing... while we lived in Iowa when first married I got a recipe booklet on sour dough baking... lots of different ways of using it chocolate cake, gingerbread that was so yummy!!! so moist ... one day my kids (this was before we retired and while living in SLC) my kids decided that they were going to organize my recipes some were divvied out they got lost and that booklet was in it... so sad but couldn't really express my feelings as their hearts were in a good spot...
they snow is pretty Sue... we haven't had any to really speak of for a few days... which is good the snow blower is still being repaired.. we have had beautiful weather the skies so blue other than it's been so cold...
it was absolutely a do nothing day... I lazed around till almost to late to fix supper so opted for DQ in hopes that they had shrimp for mom they didn't but got chicken fingers for mom hamburger for me both complete and a milk shake that came to 26.25.... last week when dd and I went to the Chinese restaurant we had 2 appetizer's two meals and a large container of War Wonton soup it came to 48.90 which yes was more but still trying to point out how expensive fast food has gotten... I think next time I want to have hamburger I'll chose one with better hamburger's may not be cheaper but will taste better
did get mom a shower she wasn't happy about it
you all have a good day
