Wednesday February 8

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday February 8

Morning All, I was awake early by the construction across the road. There are no shoulders on the road just deep ditches. This island is flat and the road floods in spots after heavy rains and during high tide. The property was bought by Delmarva Power. They are building a power grid and a two story building. The small entrance road was never meant to withstand the heavy machinery so they have been installing lots of concrete and rocks. It’s been amazing watching the operators skill with big shovels working around the many workers. Many years ago there was a lot of construction on the Bay Bridge. There was sign that said “Please drive safely my daddy is working here”
I never pass workers on the side of the road that I don’t remember the sign. I cringe at the speed of the traffic on this small road and the disregard for workers so close. I needed to say that somewhere. Age has reduced my activities so always searching for something I can still do. My latest efforts will be baking sourdough bread. I’m not telling family in case it’s a big disaster. The thought of fresh baked bread a glass of wine and garlic infused olive oil will help encourage me. Be safe.

Good morning all. I’ve been enjoying the higher temps even if it’s only 30’s! Beats the temps we’ve had! We had a pretty good rain yesterday afternoon and evening. I don’t think the ground is completely frozen so the hope is that we benefit from it. At least my car doesn’t have the layer of dust on it now! I have been trying to work on Buddy’s manners, one day good and just when I think he’s got it we go backwards again! Just being a puppy, I suppose! Barbie, did you hear how the showing went yet? Fingers crossed. I managed to get my tax papers dropped off yesterday. I was hoping to meet with the preparer but she turned up positive for Covid so that didn’t happen. But at least they have them so I can cross that off my list. It’s in their hands! Strange going into the office, my former boss retired as did the gal I trained so all new faces. Even though they’ve been there I just didn’t really have any contact with them. I need to get to the store sometime today and if it doesn’t decide to rain we’ll go for a walk. I was going to walk yesterday but on the way home it started sprinkling so decided I didn’t want to get caught in a downpour so maybe better luck today. We did get some playtime in the yard so that was a decent way to run some energy off the boy! Plus we got to work on come and drop while we played! Beth, have you decided what job you’re going to take? Wasn’t sure if the April start was a sure thing yet. Not a lot happening new here and I’m babbling so guess I should get my list and head to the store. Have a wonderful day and be safe.

Morning ladies.

Sharon, I definitely will be doing the volunteer stint April-June. And as of last night I'll be working August and September at a KOA just west of Des Moines in their office/store.

Damp and drizzly here this morning. We passed the high for today while I was sleeping. But it'll go back up tomorrow. Meantime it was a short walk for Ty to do business only do far today. I'll try to do better by him later when the drizzle is gone.

It was damp this morning and the drizzly is just getting here. It was so damp and humid I kept waiting for it to dry up so I could mow. I was watching the weather and about noon I decided it was now or never. I got most of the yard mowed before I saw a lightening flash. Nothing gets me off the mower like lightening. The temperature was 73 and it is starting to drop. It's Saturday night that we might have a freeze.

I need to put ant poison on my list. It looks like the ants have gone back to work and there are a lot of mounds in the yard. I haven't seen any ants in the house for a while.

Shirl, if you succeed with the sourdough bread you will have to tell me how to do it. I have tried before and wasn't good.

Sugar is on the back porch and won't come in. I would like to know why she wants to be outside when it's storming. She is trying to lay in one of the cat beds and doesn't quite fit. lol

Hi ladies~~~
Just a quick, late day check- in from me.
Spent the day with Eileen's husband David and his cousin Margaret that also has a place here in the park. We were hoping to go to Tubac but skipped it because it was the start of their art festival. So we went out for steak and then a drive through Madera Canyon instead.

David arrived last Thursday, Margaret drove down with him to keep him company after the memorial service. It was a nice service with eulogies by 2 family members and a friend.

Have a good evening ladies.

The weather people were watching an area that was passing just to the West of here so I decided to go in the old house. After the rain slacked off I decided to turn the TV on in the motorhome and found out I have an electrical problem again. There is power going to the ac and the microwave but no power at any of the outlets. I flipped every thing I could think of and nothing. I called the shop and they told me to come by tomorrow and they would look at it. I sure hope it's nothing. I have trouble getting someone to pick me up when I have to leave it. Glad I found it now and not next week.

Nothing much happening with me. Mosquito bites are mostly healed and have no new ones. I took a walk today and dropped off some recycling I have been carting around for several weeks, checked out a different part of Gilbert Ray for potential camp sites next time, then chatted with a camp host. Tomorrow I am going to the Sonoran Desert Museum which is only a couple of miles away from the campground. A few years ago, I rode my bike there, but there is no shoulder at all on the road so no where to go when traffic came, and some of the traffic are RVs, so decided I will drive tomorrow. Just too scary on the roadway.

Also got a good 10 hours of sleep last night. I woke up and then fell asleep again, but who cares, since I am retired and have no place to go today!! I had done a lot of grocery shopping on my way here, so this afternoon I cut up and baked the pork ribs I picked up. I cook then long and slow and then refrigerate them. That way, I can pull out a couple pieces and heat them up with my homemade barbecue sauce, which I also made today--so quite a few good meals in my refrigerator and freezer!!

It's been chilly, but supposed to be 69 tomorrow. Last night hit 30 and tonight is supposed to be 32, both of which are colder than I would prefer. Anyway, looking forward to my visit to the museum/zoo tomorrow.

I got up early and went thru the whole house cleaning everything and putting things away to make the place look tidy and nice. Did my laundry and dishes. Got everything done just ahead of the showing. I drove to the library and hung out there for a bit and then stopped at Dollar General before coming back home. I didn't hear anything for several hours from my realtor so I texted him asking how it went. Nothing...just crickets... :( He is just worthless! I am assuming that no news is NOT good news, but would like some confirmation and find out what they said about the place, good and bad. This is all so stressful and frustrating! :(

I need to cancel my SKP rally/Boot Camp reservations. It is hard to do since I was SO looking forward to going! But have to do it tomorrow so I get my money back.

Am going to bed early tonight.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

maybe you need a new realtor Barbie ... or do you have to stick with him for a certain period of time?
I totally enjoyed the Desert Museum when we went...only been the one time but would love to do it again..
I totally missed the alarm didn't even hear it woke at at 11;45 that is late for me... so tossed some cold cereal on the table and some fruit... was going to have hot cereal but it was late I guess I need to have stuff on hand in case breakfast turns into lunch :o we eat a late breakfast should call in brunch I guess... then supper between 5:30 and 6:00 with grazing in between
so was late before I even began the day... I will have to admit didn't do a lot either... folded and put away clothes wrote down my books I read in Jan... Swedish Weave and Crocheted afghan perhaps tomorrow I will accomplish something
I don't know what the high was but I saw it at 24 and that was middle of afternoon we also had a very small amount of snow but every little bit helps...
did you hear about the baby that born in the rubble of the earthquake? she was rescued but lost her whole family ... how sad
So Des Moines huh??? isn't that where Linda is living now?
I'd love to have a piece of your bread Shirl it sounds good
you all have a great day

Hi everyone!

Shirl - Wish I could join you for wine and homemade sourdough bread dipped in garlic infused oil! Yum!

Beth - Sounds like you have a great summer lined up. Both jobs sound much easier to do than some others you've had. Hope you enjoy both.

Martha - Sounds like a ground fault problem in your rig, doesn't it? There have been times when I had to check and recheck a particular fault over and over before it actually clicked. Had to replace that one. Hubby and I had a rig years ago that had a fault under the bed! Took awhile to find that one!

Judy - Mouth is watering thinking about your ribs and homemade sauce! Glad the pesky biters aren't there. Maybe give you time to heal.

Barbie - Sorry your realtor hasn't gotten back to you. Hoping it's because he's waiting for a final offer to come in.

Sheila - Hang in there - spring is coming! Funny how some years there is hardly any snow and others overwhelming.

As for me: I'm trying to get over the shock of getting a $467.24 gas bill! Our rates almost doubled last month and doubled again this month! How can they justify that? News says investigation happening. At first I thought I must have a gas leak or a bad meter, but son and I went over current and previous bills and therms used are about same - price per therm skyrocketed! Welcome to California's utilities!
