Sunday Sunday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday Sunday!

Postby dpf » Sun Feb 05, 2023 10:37 am

Good morning! Wow, can't believe I'm the first to post. I promised I was going to do better about posting….I must have lied! I did remember to say Rabbits! Hope it works better this month than last. We had 44” of snow in January with single digit and below 0 temperatures not counting the wind chill factor during most of January. It was a miserable month. City, county and state highway departments couldn’t keep up with keep the roads cleared and hauling away snow…not to mention running out of places to put the snow. The next three or four days are supposed to be in the mid 30’s so hopefully the snow will get a good crust on it so it won’t blow around if it’s windy. My sister was here for the majority of January. She’d go home and be back in a couple of days because of impeding storms. She did make an offer on a house here in Avon and it was accepted. Now it’s a waiting game to see if the person who wants to buy the house on the farm and the acreage around it can get a loan. We will still have our farm ground that we cash rent.

Haven’t been doing a lot lately. My neighbor and I have been going to the Wellness Center 10 miles away in Tyndall to exercise for an hour a day as often as possible. I can now do three and a fourth miles on the NuStep in 30 minutes. Yea, me. After that I do thirty minutes on weights. I’ve worked a few four-hour afternoon shifts at the bar. That’s pretty easy work…last time I worked I had three customers. All of them just came in for off-sale and left. Also had two salesmen that I had to give the weekly orders. Other than that I do some cleaning, watch TV, read or play on my phone. I am paid well…dirty job, but somebody has got to do it.

Barbie, I hope your house sells soon. Did you ever get your refund from the bike?

Beth, I hope you find a position that is the perfect fit for the summer.

Irmi, Happy 50th Anniversary! Wishing you many more.

Sheila, you have your hands full. Sure, wish you could go to Q. I know you love it.

Shirl, your posts always make me smile.

Karen, My vacuum took a dump. I have a Kirby that I hadn’t been using because it’s so dang heavy. Been looking for a new upright…maybe I need a Henry!

Sue, I usually read the posts for the day when I go to bed. It’s a good thing…because everything you get accomplished in a day just wears me out!

BJ, I think Emma would give me an inferiority complex if she moped around if she had to spend the day with me instead of her trainer!

Anne, I’ll send you some snow! Come Spring you’ll probably hear me complaining about flooding. Although it’s been so dry that we can only hope when it melts it goes straight down.

Lyn, I enjoy hearing about Hazel. Good thing that everyone suggestions help stop her barking.

Tina, Rowan is so darn cute. Some friends just adopted a Golden puppy…such a fluff ball. Thought of you right away.

Martha, I saw a recipe for Kings Cake and thought of you!

Judy, I hope your new bug repellant helps. Tea tree oil has always help me with bug bites.

I hope I didn’t omit anyone, if so it wasn’t intentional.

Have a wonderful week. Guess when I don’t post often I get a little wordy.

Good morning. A warmer morning here now that the 20's have changed to high 30's and no wind I am a happy camper LOL so to speak. Finished breakfast and now time to get some chores done and my suitcase and dog bag packed as I am going to Medford tomorrow.
Going to have Henry clean the kitchen and dining area this morning then will Swiffer the floor and that will be done. Then will swiffer the bathrooms. I like coming home to a clean house.

Nothing else on the agenda for today. I am planning on a salad for lunch or the last of the lasagna in the fridge, maybe both LOL I bought some Garlic Cheese biscuits at the store bakery the other day and wow are they good. I will freeze the last 2 and buy more when I get home.

Pat I cannot even imagine that much snow. Must have been a long January for you and your family.

Enjoy your Sunday

Pat, i’m a little confused. Did you guys give up for cattle business? You mentioned cash renting farm property or is that extra property? Sounds like you have been having a pretty rough winter out there. Here on the other hand we couldn’t get enough snow. I think we are over the 100 inch mark for the season so far. But it comes and melts again. It’s been a mild winter so far with the exception of this past couple days of cold weather. The Christmas blizzard was the one that dumped anywhere between 24 and 30 inches, but it was melted two days later when the temperatures went way up. Karen, it seems like you just went to Medford and now it’s time to go back again. January sure did fly.

Just finished lunch here. Went to Mass this morning, stopped and got a Sunday paper and a couple slices of pizza for lunch. It’s a cloudy day, but a bright Cloudy. I think the sun is trying to push through. The temp is at 32° but the wind is a little on the chilly side. Going to get into my winter stuff and take the dog for a nice walk today. We did a short one yesterday so I think today we can do a nice long one that is not that cold out here and we will be out of the wind for the majority of it anyway. No working on the house today. Might go over and visit with a neighbor after we get back. Have a nice rest of the day everybody.

Sue, My son still has the cattle company that is DH family property. The house and land that I am referring to was my parent's farm. We are selling the house and some acreage around it, but keeping the tillable crop land.

Afternoon All, I said I wasn’t talking weather. It was 19° yesterday and 50° today. Trying to keep up is exhausting. Made a batch of chili yesterday so put that in the freezer and did laundry. I have a lot of laundry for one person. I can’t help getting old but don’t want to be a stinky old woman. Watched great grand crawl across the living-room floor and snatch the cracker, roll on his back and enjoy. I could hear his parents yelling in the background. You would think he won the Kentucky Derby. If I had been then I would have yelled too. Everyone comments that he is alway smiling in every picture. Now we know they are holding a Cracker. Lol The sun is shining so think I will have a Cobb salad in this hot weather. Be safe

P.s. Karen, I broke down and bought a bag of frozen Grand Biscuits. Lol

It's up to 75 today so I decided to put my tennis shoes on and walk. There was an 18" copper head snake on the road that someone ran over. I will have to watch when I walk Sugar. She is always wanting to mess around in the grass on the side of the road. I was going to mow but neither mower will start. Grrrrrrr I put the battery charger on the riding mower. Now I'll have to find someone to help me lift the push mower into the truck.

My sciatica is wanting to start again in my right hip. If I bend over to pick something up that sets it off. It's hell to get old.

Pat, I'm trying to not buy a king cake. I saw one the other day that said it was praline flavored. You can get them with different flavors of filling but have never seen that before. I'm tempted to try one.

A new bite showed up on my elbow late yesterday, and this morning found even newer ones on my ankle and the back of my hand. (I wore long pants and a sweatshirt to go out for a walk yesterday.) The funny thing is that late yesterday I felt itchy all over, but told myself I was imagining it. But the places I itched indeed turned out to be bites--just took a while to show up. So, more Benedryl and more cream. Benedryl is making me sleepy, but need to get more tomorrow when I get groceries! And I get to pick up my new mosquito bite devices from an Amazon HUB tomorrow! Yea!

And to add to the old car memories: How many of you had to add a quart of oil to your old car whenever you got gas?? Remember how they used to sell oil in bulk in those old glass bottles? The gas station would buy a huge barrel of oil and then fill up the bottles which the attendant would use to dump the oil into your engine and then reuse?? As a matter of fact, do you remember actually having an attendant who would fill your vehicle with 29-cents-per-gallon gas and then clean your front windshield?? Finally, you would pull out of the gas station in a cloud of exhaust.

I am off tomorrow to Gilbert Ray near Tucson, and it will be dryer because of no lake. Hopefully, that will help keep the little nasties away.

The ice has melted and it is in the upper '50's I am so happy. I went out for dog food and noticed the parking lots were full everywhere. Everyone is just so happy to be outside. I won't have to worry about my van staying in the driveway.

I just the post Pat (DPF) made on Friday about her 'traction technique' using oyster shells and her comment to the man watching. I'm still laughing! I could never come up with such a perfect response on the spur of the moment.

Yes, on the having to frequently check the oil levels on an older car inorder to keep it running. And, of course, yes on the gas station attendants. And add to that memory that as of this past October when I drove east to get Jane bred and go a visiting, the state of New Jersey still required that gas be pumped by an attendant. And Oregon used to? Karen can clear that up quickly.

Yes Tina we still get our gas pumped for us but no window washing or I should say rarely does anyone wash my windows for me.

It wasn't just window washing. Oil got checked, air in tires checked and filled if necessary. It went away pretty quickly but our preferred gas station, locally owned continued with it for longer than any others around.

Good to hear from you again Pat. Yes, I finally got the refund for the bike a couple days ago after 9 calls to Amazon! :o I remember in MN when we would get a ton of snow and the snowbanks at the intersections would be so high you couldn't see over or around them to look for traffic coming. And sometimes running out of places to put all the snow. The mall parking lots would have a huge pile of snow where they would dump it all and the pile wouldn't melt until sometime in June!

Busy day today at work. Pretty much non-stop for 6 hours. My joints are all hurting today. :(

Tonight I have a headache too and can't get to sleep. I was in bed with PJ's on by 9pm but still awake at almost 1am. It has been super windy all day and still is now. High winds makes me nervous so maybe that is why I can't settle down. It is suppose to calm down pretty soon tho. I keep hearing things banging around outside! Probably palm fronds blowing down on the house. I can only imagine all the dust and sand blowing around out there! I closed the windows in the porch when I got home from work.

Have the next 4 days off. Tomorrow I need to run to the store and pick up something for the Putters pot luck on Tuesday. I have a long list of things to do this week.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
