Tuesday the 31st

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday the 31st

Postby Redetotry » Tue Jan 31, 2023 10:35 am

Good Morning All, I hope the weather is better where you are than here! Currently we are 17 with feel like temps of 5 degrees plus we have ice. Pretty much everything is closed and it is so slick out that our trash will just have to wait until next weeks pick up. It is only 9:30 and I am totally bored plus my massage was cancelled. I am grateful however that our power has stayed on.
The dogs can't decide whether they want in or out. Emma is home prostrate on the couch because we are so boring. She would much rather be at 'school'.
Barbie I'm sorry the people decided not to look at your home. I can just imagine what my parents would have done if I had kicked someone, you can bet I would not have remained in the chair. Linda it was good to see post yesterday. Come back again soon.

Good morning BJ and all who follow. I'm laughing about what most of us would have experienced had we been the kickers.

Judy, I hope one or both things you're purchasing are of some help. I thought of you immediately when my friend mentioned the one being the first real help she's found. Fingers crossed it works for you also.

My sister sent me a short video of her tiny senior dog dressed in a doggy hoodie to go out potty this morning. Adorable. I look at her weather and weather some of you are experiencing and am trying to say nothing about my cold spell. Should sit on my hands.

We had freezing temps last night with people reporting frosted windshields. I love being retired as it was up to 37°'by time I got up! Bright sun out. Where, oh where, did our rain go!
Getting close to deciding on which bid to accept for the fence. Be glad to get that done, though not glad to write the check!

Good chilly morning here again but should be the last days in the low 20's. Balmy out now 30 ha ha Hope we see some sun again today. I need to go out and do a couple of errands but hey, no dang hurry. I have to go to the store and pick up a few groceries. Not much I hope LOL things just jump into my cart some days. Then have to go to Home Depot and pick up my fire extinguishers. Yup I finally purchase 2 smaller ones. I had one in my Motorhome but never in my house. Decided that would be prudent of me to have at least one on hand. Hope I never have to use it Been reading on our community forum of several house fires and the firemen are stating everyone should have at least one ABC fire extinguisher. Most of the fires were small but still required the fire response. So I am doing it. Now they wouldnt have helped with my previous fire LOL

Had some breakfast, Roomba did her job, Kitchen cleaned up, load of laundry in and now will just wait to take a shower and head to town.

Good Morning, the last post I wrote went poof. I don’t know why that happens. So I don’t post for several days.
Yea, Linda posted! It was good to hear from you!
Judy, I sure hope that Bug Thingy works on your bug bites. If it does, better buy two or three!
You asked, awhile ago, what specifically I did to get Hazel to quit barking at the dogs we meet on the street. Picture me on my mobility scooter. Hazel runs about 2/3 feet ahead of me on the left side. I am steering with the right hand. When I see another dog, I slow down. If she started to bark, I would stop, pull, with force, her to me. As I did that, I said NO in a loud gruff voice. She was still on the ground at this point. Hazel was quite starteled the first time.
Then we would go on our way. Like I said, it only took 2 or 3 time for her to get the message. I never has to use the squirt bottle. Believe me, it is much more pleasant now walking her.
San Diego has been putting in “bike lanes” all over town. There are so few bikes using them I. Take Hazel in them to run. She really likes running. Good exercise for her.
It was 46* when I went out this morning. Lyn

Afternoon here at the 45th. It has been a beautiful sunny day today. Probably one of the most beautiful sunny days we’ve had this winter. What about 4 minutes niches of fresh snow from over the weekend ibto Monday, everything is so pristine, the snow sparkles like diamonds. . It’s 18° out with a real feel of 5°. The sun was so nice that the dogs and I took a bit over a 2 mile walk this afternoon. Molly loves the cold. I can’t keep her in the house as she wants out all the time. When she gets cold cold, she will let me know and I’ll let her back in. I put their coats on them when we are out for a walk.

I finally got started on my deep cleaning in the house today. I tackled my office first, because my intention was to put the new countertop I made on the cabinet, clean the drawers and start putting my office supplies in. Well I decided that I would wash the walls and the woodwork in there first. I wasn’t going to do that but then I decided that it makes the room look so nice and fresh and smells so good. Using Murphy’s. It is really surprising how dusty walls can get. You can’t see it but it’s there. While I was doing that I decided that I would get the paint out for that room and touchup little nail holes here on there from moving pictures around, L O L. I also pulled out a few wall anchors that were holding up old shelves at one time. Covered those holes up and painted them too. So that room is all set now for me to continue on with the cabinet in the closet. Good project for cold weather days.

Linda, was really glad to see your post the other day. Welcome back. Hope your post once in a while even if you’re not up anything special. I use Facebook, but I like this group better because it’s a small close-knit wonderful bunch of ladies and I think we have discussed everything under the sun. Feels like one big family.

Barbie if you’re having that much trouble with sciatica and even your arm and stuff, you should go see your chiropractor because it sounds to me like your spinal column is out of alignment. Every muscle, nerve, blood vessel and whatever starts from the spinal column and if something is out of line it can trigger a host of health and physical problems.

Shelia, glad you got your power back. That would have been way too cold too have stayed in a unheated house had you not.

Karen, I have 3 fire extinguishers in my house. One in my basement workshop, one at the bottom of my basement stairs just outside of the door to my mechanicals room and the other at the top of my stairs that I can grab for the kitchen if necessary. I also have one in my garage. I just bought two new smoke alarms to install down n the basement too. I have one at the top of my basement stairs and two of them upstairs here.

Time to go get my chicken breast on my grill machine and get my dinner started. Going to make a nice big lettuce salad with chicken in it tonight. Speaking of grilling machines, I got a late Christmas gift from my neighbors who’s home I watch while they are not here. They sent me a sandwich toaster. I don’t know how much use I get from it, because I don’t eat English muffins, rarely bagels and stuff like that. It’s a small round one, so I can’t really use regular slices of bread. But it was very nice of them to do that.

Evening All, another gloomy rainy day. The highlight of my day was the four chocolate chip cookies I cooked in the air fryer. I forget the dough is in the freezer so will be a treat. I watched all the men and big machinery arrive across the road today. They sat in their trucks until 2 pm waiting for the rain to stop but it didn’t. Guess they believed accuweather like I did. Going to have breaded shrimp in the air fryer and steamed broccoli for dinner. Stay safe.

Good evening ladies!

Linda, yes, it was good seeing you post and please don't be a stranger. I remember meeting you at the country store when you worked for Beth and recognized you from your avatar. I told my girlfriend that we were traveling with that day that Beth would probably be wearing a sun dress. Sure enough, my friend went inside the store and saw Beth and called her by name. It was funny when it happened.

BJ, you and others I know are iced in and traffic isn't moving because of the weather. I hope you don't lose your power.

Velda, your house and yard are going to look so nice with all the renovations you're doing.

Karen & Sue, thanks for the reminder about the fire extinguishers. I need to get some for our casita.

Lyn, I'm so happy Hazel has understood she doesn't have to bark at dogs she meets. Good job!

Shirl, I check your weather from time to time and am glad I'm here, but I understand why you're there.

While so many of you are having an arctic blast and ice, it was so nice here today that Steve & I went to the gulf coast to the beach and took a picnic lunch. We made a day of it, but since it takes 1-1/2 hours each way to get there and back, that wasn't hard to do. There's something about being on or near the water that is so relaxing, we were both exhausted by the time we got home, but can't wait to do it all over again.

Lyn, I forgot about your scooter. You did a good job adapting the techniques for stopping the barking! And I can imagine it must have been a shock to Hazel, as well, but she got the point and I am sure it is more pleasant for her to walk also.

Bite is still red and sore, and a problem is getting the steroid cream to stay on and not smear on my recliner or bed, so I just put a lot of it on a gaze pad and them wrapped that leg with stick to itself tape. I am looking forward to trying out the two new things I bought. The one works by heating the wound, which apparently destroys the chemical the nasty insects inject. I will report on devices when I get them.

A bit of rain last night, but it is sunny with only a few clouds right now. It is supposed to hit 70 by the weekend! Time to walk to dumpster to get rid of trash and to add some water to my fresh water tank. Will go out and dump tomorrow and try to flush my black tank out since it is not emptying well. Tried at last campground, but flush hose was spraying all over the place where it was hooked to the post. It really helps to use the tank spray once every couple of weeks to keep black tank clear. Wish I had one on grey tank!!

Going to put long pants on for my walk tonight!!!

Good evening gals!

I slept good overnight. Got up early to go do the haircut. It was a new guy I haven't met before. He knows quite a few people in the park, some of whom are looking to buy a park model. I invited him to come over this week to look at mine so he can tell them what it is like inside. I made a "reduced price" sign today and attached it to the For Sale sign out front since my agent hasn't done it yet. I will probably hear from the HOA about that tho, (no homemade signs allowed).

Then headed to putters golf. Was SO nice that it was down to 4 of us on each hole and was much quieter and less chaotic. I guess the earlier group dealt with cold temps with high winds. For us it was warmer but still windy, but I am sure much more comfortable than they were. I didn't play all that well, but I found out I came in 1st place on my birthday and won $6 for that! :D Next Tuesday we are having a potluck after golf so that will be fun. Need to figure out something to bring.

Just relaxing today. Fell asleep on my bed and slept for 3 hours. The day after a 9 hour workday, I am always really tired.

I got approved by my insurance company for PT for my sciatica issures. Need to call them and get appointments set up.

today was beautiful blue skies and the white snow is striking... then when you are where there is snow blue sky and red buttes that is gorgeous ...think Zion National park although we do have an area with red hill sides...

Sheila, I bet that is just beautiful!

Have a nice evening!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Today was gray with no sun all day. It rained off and on most of the day. It was 61 this morning and got cooler as the day went on. I put on short capris and ended up with a jacket by the time I got home. Last night I had the air conditioner on and tonight it's heat again. Beth, hope the freezing weather misses you. It looks like it's going through the Dallas/Ft Worth area. It can stay to the North.

Sheila, does your pellet stove need electricity to work? Having to depend on electricity for heat when it's as cold as where you are is not good. My house is electric only but we seldom get much freezing weather.

I need to get a fire extinguisher to keep in the kitchen. My son put one on the back porch because Harold used the BBQ pit out there all the time. It's right outside the back door. I can tell you the extinguisher that came in my second motorhome was useless. Now the first thing I do is buy a bigger extinguisher when I change motorhomes. In the old house we had a Jenn Air stove with a grill. Harold set it on fire one time and used the fire extinguisher on it. What a mess. He could just have turned a cookie sheet over it.

BJ, it's funny that your dog is bored. I don't know how they can tell time but every afternoon Sugar is waiting to go for a walk.

I got my motorhome back today. I still haven't decided if I'm going to the campout. We are suppose to get a lot of rain on Thursday and a low of 33 Friday night. I'll see how I feel on Friday. I could just go visit since it's so close.

tv sure isn't coming in well if it was Direct and a satellite I'd go out and clean it off... that type of interference... so annoying
gave mom a shower today she sure didn't want to have one... rolled her hair up when she took out the rollers it actually looked better than when we came home from the solon they just did a blow dry and curing iron... it is short lot shorter than I had expected... but it will grow back
was in one of those moods that I didn't want to do anything so didn't do much other than her shower and scriptures... finished a page of word search and started another one... besides doing my Swedish Weave and the crochet afghan
so not much to report today
I do remember one thing that I was going to mention when Karen was talking about her panini pan and the sandwich that she was going to make with it... reminded me of a sandwich that I would get at the Main Street eatery I think we could use whatever bread but it was turkey cream cheese and cranberry sauce... it was so good I think it would be better if she made her own sauce as I really don't like the canned stuff but it was such a good sammy ... and no it wasn't heated
we are still in the artic zone... tv station said Jackson got up to 24 today I only saw it at 3 although it's going the right way it's now 7 not a minus by it either...
you all have a great day
