Morning All, 47° cloudy and looks like cloudy for next couple of weeks. I guess will turn on all the lights and make soup. Lol. Shelia, I have bins in every cupboard, closet, fridge and freezer. Keeps everything organized, easy access and no more sore toes. The construction guys wake me early but gives me something to watch so miss them today. Edith and I discussed how she could have her toilet tiled like the ones in Carols blog. Lol I’m cutting the very sturdy plant stand box to serve as tray for potting soil. I love playing in dirt but it does make a mess in the kitchen. Since the balcony has a plank floor I don’t want to dirty my neighbor below me. Think the cloudy weather is affecting my appetite, I don’t feel like eating. Be safe.

Good morning Shirl and all others who come in. We were supposed to be 18° this morning, I never really believe the weather people and I was right it was 31 at 5am...go figure. I am happy they were wrong tho. Hope they are wrong again tomorrow. But for now the sun is out it is chilly out at 35° but I am inside so no worries.

Watered my plants this morning. Gave Henry the vacuum the day off LOL I dont need him to vacuum every day so a couple times a week should do it. Not sure what I am up to today yet. I might take my cardboard over when it warms up but nothing much else on my agenda. Will print out my tax forms so I can start on my income tax this coming week.

Having Salmon patties for dinner tonight. Emma loves salmon so will share with her.
Emma is 6 years old today. Oh my where did the time go, I want it to stand still just for a couple years ha ha Going to try out my new Panini maker for lunch, making a turkey breast and cheese sandwich on sourdough. I want to pick up a couple of Ciabatta rolls from the bakery next time I am in the store for the sandwiches.

Afternoon all. Cloudy, temp is 21° with a real feel of 11°. Just came back from a short walk with the dogs. Didn’t want to take them too far. They were wearing their coats, but you always have to worry about the paws in the cold. Although it doesn’t seem to bother them because they’re always checking things out in the snow off the road anyway. But the road is not plowed from the 2 inches of snow that we got last nights. So the pups get ice balls in their paws when we’re walking like that. Piper is sleeping here on my loveseat and Molly is sleeping outside on the deck. She doesn’t care how cold it is outside. She’ll let me know when she’s ready to come in.

Shirl, we’ve had cloudy skies here for the past two months. We may have had four days of sunshine since December 1st. But it’s normal for this time of year because of the Great Lakes. They kind of call them Perma clouds. Even in October and November we have probably more cloudy days than we have sunshine. Those big old lakes are just throwing out too much moisture in the air. It’s the reason for all the lake effect snow which hasn’t really materialized this year because the atmospheric temperatures have been too warm. We have had more drizzle and when we have had snow it’s been very wet. Last night it was nice fluffy dry lake effect. I guess they got dumped on pretty good in the middle part of the state yesterday.

Went to Mass this morning. Made my own trail going down the highway because the road hadn’t been plowed yet. But I passed the plow about a mile up from the house going the other way. By the time I came home the roads were down to the payment where the tire tracks are. It’s been a really good winter for driving this year, with a few exceptions. A lot of times if winters are very cold especially when you’re hovering around the zero mark, it’s impossible to keep the roads clear because salt will not work below 20 degrees. So the road commissions apply a mix of salt and sand when they plow the roads here. Unless the temperatures are going to above freezing and then they don’t have to bother. Sometimes it gets to the point where you don’t even have payment anymore and you feel like you’re just driving down a plowed field. Makes for a nice wide road. Because the shoulders and pavement are even. I haven’t seen that for a while though because we haven’t had any very cold weather.

Tina, I’m with you on the 65-75 degree temps.I can’t tolerate anything above that much either. In fact as much as I like the sunny warm days of the summer, by mid August I’m ready for fall. Last year however we had the perfect summer with comfortable temperatures and Hardly any humid days all summer except for the day here or there. I thought it was lovely, the beach gorgeous wish it would’ve been hotter


Other than that, I’m not doing anything today except working on my last piece of my woodcraft project. Did shovel off the deck and walks. Will do the drives and part of the yard tomorrow. Otherwise, that’s it from here.

It started raining about 5 or 6 this morning and rained pretty steady until about noon. The rain gauge has 2 inches. The radar shows a lot of rain North of here but I don't know which way it's going. It's 75 and going to be in the 60 for a few days. There's a 90% chance of rain again on Thursday. We don't need more rain. There were Ibis birds in the standing water again this morning. This time they were all brown.

I made a small potato salad and heated a container of chicken gumbo out of the freezer for lunch. A lot of people here like potato salad with their chicken gumbo and I am one of them. I still have some salmon in the freezer that I need to eat or get rid of. I still haven't found a recipe that makes me like it any better.

I need to go walk Sugar before it cools off. She will probably be able to find some crawfish since it rained so much. I haven't felt like picking up boiled crawfish yet. The place that sells them to go just opened up recently. The crawfish are probably still small so will wait a couple of weeks.

Good afternoon gals.

I sent a text to my agent this morning asking what I can do to get more interest in my place. He texted back that he is showing the place tomorrow morning. I think he just wasn't putting any effort into selling this place because the golf course units are worth a lot more (to him). With a little pressure from me and lowering the price, is getting him moving a little.

So I have been busy today getting things cleaned up and looking nice. Started with the outside, cleaning off the deck and hosing down the patios and driveway and straightened up the porch. Then the handle to the outside slider broke off in my hand . I then went to Home Depot to buy another one but they don't have one like mine so can't get that fixed today. I stopped at WM and picked up an indoor/outdoor 5X7 rug to put on the deck to brighten it up some. Just ate a late lunch and will start on the inside of the house. Nothing too much to do other than straighten things up and move Romeow's litter box to a less conspicuous place besides right by the door to the living room.

There is another storm system moving in from the coast. Up to a foot of snow is expected in the local mountains over the next day or two. The clouds are already rolling in here from the west and I can see rain/snow coming down from them in the mountains. I haven't heard anything about significant rain here but we have a high wind alert for tonight and tomorrow.

I spent four days at McDowell Mountain regional park, and am now back at Lake Pleasant. My spot is a little narrow because of the covered picnic table next to it--can't get too close because it would interfere with my slide on that side. Anyway, it is a high site, and I have a great view of the lake. Plus, today was just barely warm enough for shorts and no jacket, except I stopped at Walmart and it was a lot colder inside than outside! I had eaten enough that my freezer and refrig were beginning to have a little room, but they are now overfull again. Problem is nearest grocery store is about 20+ miles away and I am here for at least four days, and maybe longer.

Son is sending my mail, so will have to go to post office to pick it up in about three days, but grocery store near there is a small one, so I wanted to stock up on Walmart stuff because it is cheaper. Except I bought some goodie bags and stocked up on candy and treats for three Ohio grandkids. California kids are older and will get books from me for Valentine's Day. Anyway, an overstocked refrig was a good reason to do some cleaning out and tossing old stuff. Supposed to be cloudy, colder, and possibly rainy for next couple of days. Then warmer for the next weekend, hopefully.

Martha, your Louisiana food always sounds so much better than what I cook!!
