Warm FL afternoon

Good afternoon friends!

It is 82 degrees here and I am loving life. I walked 3 miles this morning with my walking friend, admiring the beautiful morning skies. We have pretty evening skies, too. There is nothing new going on here, so I will wait for the next post.

Almost afternoon here but not quite. Getting ready to find some lunch. Chilly here again 42 at almost noon with a high of 48...big whoop LOL I want to get out in my shed and finish organizing but it has to get warmer for that to happen. I have stuff here in the house that needs to go out there. I will wait for a warm up. It isnt going anywhere.

Took some salmon out for dinner tonite and a pork steak for tomorrow. Have a couple sides to fix with it so that is covered. Will clean the bathrooms this morning and then fix some lunch and call it good for the day.

Hi ladies~~~
It's afternoon here in Tucson. We're in a bit of a cold spell once the rains that hit California came here. I feel sorry for the people that are camped at Catalina SP. The river flowed so much that it dumped 5" of sand in the road. Day 2 (3?) of heavy equipment clearing the road. Hopefully they can get out today.

Not a whole lot new here other than the cold spell (disconnecting the hose at night). The posts don't have anywhere to plug in an electric hose and i don't want to plug it into the camper. Geesh!

Playing some games with Eileen's inlaws. Her memorial service is scheduled for the 28th, and video will be posted afterwards.

Had to have a mobile tech come and replace my Maxx air vent cover that blew open in high winds just before the rains. Airstream has already said they'll cover it. The tech thinks the screws were over torqued on the plastic piece for the cover.

Dealing with IRS crap now from my Ma. I have to go prove who I say I am in order for them to accept her final 1040 that closed her estate ~ 2 years ago! Pain in the you know what.

Guess i had more news than I thought. Have a good day everyone.

Good Afternoon, I contacted the Humane Society and left a message about the struggles I was having with Hazel. Lo and behold, when a dog is adopted from them there is offered a free one hour class with a dog trainer. Am hoping to receive instructions on what I can do, working with her to stop her going crazy when she meets another dog on the street.
It’s been cold here. The sun comes out in the afternoon, but the wind is still like ice.
That’s about it for me. I’ve lost 25 lbs since I lost my appetite. What has surprised me is how I have no more desire for sweets.

The day started out good...started back on the porch and was almost done, when I suddenly got hit with bad cramps. Ran to the bathroom and have been in there several times since. Some sort of food poisoning. Not sure what could have triggered it tho. :?
So am just laying on my bed in between "trips" trying to stay warm and resting. Took some Pepto but that takes awhile to work. I had a lot of stuff planned to do today but that won't all get done. I have tomorrow off so will try again then. I have bins on the deck that need to go in the shed so I will try to at least get that done later. I am getting hungry but will wait awhile and then open up some chicken noodle soup. That is always easy on the tummy and satisfying. :)

Tomorrow is another yard sale here. I didn't sign up for it but will put some "free" stuff out anyways.

The weather is nice tho! Low 60's with a light breeze.

Lyn, do you know what is causing your appetite loss? If you figure out how you lost your desire for sweets, please let me know!!

Yes, Lyn if you figure out why you lost your desire for sweets let me know. I always feel like I should have something sweet at night. I usually keep some of the small size ice cream sandwiches or mini buddy cones. Hope you get some help with Hazel.

Not much going on here. I had a slight headache most of the day but it is mostly gone now. I have to go pick up Buddy at the vet soon. He had a broken tooth when I brought him in a couple of weeks ago for his eyes. The vet removed the tooth today. Inky is back today. I would sure like to know where his second home is. I saw him on one of the cameras when I was camping but he was gone by the time I got home.

I got a half inch of rain when the storms blew thru here last night. We are suppose to get more rain tomorrow night and Saturday. It is in the 70's again but suppose to cool off next week.

Cheryl, good luck with the IRS. Estate business is a royal PIA. Just when I think things are done something else pops up.

Barbie, I keep forgetting to tell you about the federal senior pass. The lifelong one costs $80, which is expensive, as I know because I lost my original one. What you can do is to buy a $20 senior annual pass, then when the year is up, you tuck it away in a safe place and buy another $20 annual pass. Ditto for the next year, then when you have four annual passes saved, you can take them in and get a lifetime $80 pass for no cost! Here is the website that explains this: https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/senio ... hanges.htm

Note: Do not tuck these old passes away in the kind of "safe" place I put things. Best to let us know so we can tell you where they are when it is time to turn them in!!

Enjoying Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. Slept in too long this morning and had to dump my tanks and refill fresh water, plus visit the visitor center. Then got busy visiting neighbors and getting help with my stuck dipstick. It has been stuck for about three months, but I had added oil a couple of months ago. Then last week when i had vehicle in for the shocks, they supposedly got it unstuck, except I still could not get it out today. Neighbor helped me and he managed, then I added two quarts of oil and it still needs another one, but at least I am not going to burn engine up on way north to Phoenix area. Will stop and buy a couple more quarts on the way--one just to have. I learned long ago to carry an extra quart of oil or two after I had to pay $9 for a quart once near Zion National Park!! By the way, Barbie, that and extra door latches are things I always keep on hand. Ditto for masking tape and duck tape. Bungee cords are helpful also--never know when, but when you need them, you need them!

Judy, thanks for the suggestion to get the $20 annual senior pass each year instead of dishing out the $80 all at once.
What kind of door latches are you referring to? For the main door or the storage bin doors? I have lots of the other stuff you mentioned.

Haven't left my bedroom all day other than to make the chicken noodle soup. I was really cold all day so had my bedroom heat up to 74* and two throw blankets on me. Feeling better now. Abdomen is understandably sore but cramps stopped a little while ago. I took another Pepto so that must have finally kicked in.

Will get some mild dinner. watch a little TV, and go to bed early. Then try again tomorrow to get stuff done.

Well, I played poker. Would have probably won the tournament but it got down to 2 men and me and one of the men (with very few chips left) started complaining he was tired and wanted to eat and the other man said we can agree to quit and just split the winnings. Truthfully, I'd have been happy to split with the 2nd man, but if the first had only played a couple more hands, unless cards really went in his favor, he'd have been out. Oh well, I think the guy just hated not getting further and I wasn't really in it to win. But it was nice when several people told me I was a really good player. Including the guy who would have possibly beaten me. I'll probably play again but only time will tell.

Cheryl, it seems like that stuff is never ending. As to weather it's been exceptional here. Today only mid 70's but cloudy and a chilly breeze so I wished I'd thrown on a sweatshirt before the last walk with Ty (one more to happen, but very short in the dark). Luckily no freezing nights. I actually was moaning and groaning that nights were to warm the past couple weeks. Lol I guess I'm never happy weather-wise.

Judy, have you asked why you're always losing oil? I'm knocking on wood here because I've never needed to add oil to this or my previous RV. That would worry me.

Beth, my vehicle burns a quart of oil about every 2-3 months. The problem right now is that I did not check it for a couple months of hard driving, but then could not get the dipstick out. So that was in November, and I just added a quart then, just in case. (It holds 6-7 quarts.) So I had not checked it since November until now, and was shocked at it being down about 2.5 quarts. There is no oil leaking on the pavement, so I suspect that the quart I added in November after my long drive cross country was not enough. I am due for an oil change fairly soon, in any case. I am not a person that has ever changed oil at the 3-4,000 miles the manufacturer recommends because I know that you really do not have to change it more than every 8,000 miles. (And that is per Ford engineers. They tell you 3,000 miles to keep the dealers happy.) And I am close to that now. I have 183,000 miles on that V-10 engine, and while the Ford corporate quality people told me it should last 300,000 - 400,000 miles easily, it is getting a bit old. (I worked with these guys on a project at Ford just before I left, so I trusted their judgment. This was the team at Ford that got all the parts that had failed under warranty back from dealers.)

Also, Barbie, it will depend on the motorhome you buy as to what spares of stuff you need to carry with you. I should have said drawer pulls, not cabinet latches. My drawers stay shut because of a plastic latch that has two parts. They look like this: https://www.amazon.com/Cabinet-Universal-Motorcoach-Motorhome-Replacement/dp/B09D386R2D/ref=sr_1_9?crid=32N9XQPQLQYP&keywords=rv%2Bdrawer%2Blatch&qid=1674184432]sprefix=RV%2Bdrawer%2Caps%2C273&sr=8-9&th=1 What happens is that the plastic part that goes into the latch often breaks, so I carry several. Probably replaced 2 per year on average--takes just a few minutes. But not all RVs use the same latches, so what you will want to do, assuming a door or drawer latch breaks, is buy two or three when you replace one, on the theory if one breaks, another is soon to follow.

I also go through a lot of tail light bulbs, so I check them often and carry several with me. I learned my lesson once the hard way when I had my rig in for work on something else and the repair place charged me $60 labor for unscrewing the tail light and putting in a new bulb that cost only about $1.50. So, now i do it myself.

Good idea, Judy. I thought I would tell everyone that I just now put my reading glasses on my kitchen counter. After I get finished with watching tv tonight with my distance glasses, I won't be able to remember where I put my readers.

Whew, what a relief! Now I can just check back on here and ask everyone where my glasses are.

Too bad about my cell phone, though. I'm sure it's around here somewhere, but dang if I can find it. It may be a goner.

Dang, Judy, why didn't you post this idea sooner?

For me, it would have had to be ten years sooner! At least I have not had to stop a passerby in the last year to ask them to call me so I would be able to find my cell phone. That is progress of some sort, at least.

Now, where is my Ohio Senior Buckeye pass so I can make discounted campsite reservations for this coming summer?? It is not in my purse or in the storage area under my dash, nor is it in my undies drawer or the box of odds and ends I keep on the shelf by my chair which I cleaned out yesterday!

Did any of you read the Harry Potter books or see the movie where the boy got a "Remembrel" from his granny. It was supposed to help him remember stuff, except he said it wouldn't work because he couldn't remember what it was he forgot!!

another place you can put information is in your notes on your phone... that may even work for the things you are looking for Judy... :? at least when they have been found... I will have a heard time finding what I have when I get back to the 5th wheel... as I didn't do that... like I need to find my title to the 5th wheel not sure if I ever got it if I did it would be here and the place I keep "stuff" that I might need I didn't see it but perhaps I need to go back through and double check... I just really don't remember getting it...
thanks Anne for the information on the wire I think that was part of it I think the wire I was using wasn't the correct weight... making it harder to use... there is a gal in Q that I've started seeing her work on the Q page does a great job as well...and found out that she gives classes... but then not sure the fingers will work that well they complain every once in awhile... which is why I want to get the afghan's done while they are still able to do what I want them too...
Hopefully Lyn you can get those classes and know how to help Hazel be a better companion ...
I always worried about Shadow and how much barking he did while I was gone... probably less than I thought... but it always helped having him alert me to someone coming...
went to the store today spent less guess I didn't get some of the stuff I did the last time... they finally had my hot chocolate mix in and I bought 3 ... so that added up
I actually did two half rows on the Swedish weave done while waiting for the pot pies to heat up
I forget how much better they are home made than the ones one can get in the store even Marie Calendar's didn't have much in the line of veggies in it
you all have a good night

This discussion reminded me of my first job working for the auto industry. I had a young boss who could not trust his weird secretary to file stuff where he could find it. She was truly more than a bit strange and eventually got fired. Anyway, he had a special folder in our filing cabinet that he told her was top secret and only he or I could put things in it or take them out. He titled it “Nice to Know” and we put stuff in there when we didn’t know where to put it but did not want to throw it out!! At least ditzy secretary kept her hands off it.

When she left, he cleaned out her desk and found all sorts of missing but unimportant stuff. New secretary had to go through all files in the cabinet and reorganize them.

And if all else fails and your can't find your lost object I can hypnotize you and have you remember! :D I loved your story Judy about the ditzy secretary and the secret file. Beth I'm glad you enjoyed the poker game. I like to play cards but I could never remember what everyone had played but I was lucky and my first DH finally refused to play cards with me as I nearly always beat him.
Lyn good luck with the trainer that is really great that the shelter provides help. I think little dogs are harder to train, probably because they are little they are spoiled more. At least that is my rational because Pippa is not an exception
