Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday, January 4

Afternoon all. Been watching weather channel and looks like all kinds of storms happening all over the country. So far it’s 58 and waiting for rain and temperatures to start dropping. I’m hoping if my neighbors are flying today their flights will make it. Last I heard they will be home today or tomorrow. And they’re saying we might get some snow on Friday. Buddy got his last round of vaccines yesterday and weighed 37 lbs so he has gained some weight. He’s 4 months now. And of course still into everything. Such a brat! Sure keeping me on my toes! I probably shouldn’t say it out loud but he’s doing good with the house training, no accidents for awhile now. Chiropractor appointment today and none to soon. All the shoveling and whatnot is definitely telling on my back. But just gotta push through it and appreciate a good chiropractor! I think I need to go out and check on the humidity level in Lola. Everything I touch on the back porch is damp from this constant rain and fog. We need a few hours of sun and much as I hate to say it probably some wind would help. Probably a good time to run the generator and turn on the air conditioner for awhile to clear out the humidity. Enjoyed the snow photos but hope that won’t be us! But it is winter in PA so hard to say what we might get! I’d rather have snow instead of all the ice we’ve had. So with that I better get moving and actually do something instead of talking about it! Hope you are all safe and have a good day.

I was sure wrong about missing the rain yesterday. It hit about 5:30 last night and had thunder, lightening and rain for an hour. It rained an inch and 3/4.

I finally got the Dessert of the Month for November made this morning and have to deliver it this afternoon. I'm only 2 months late. I made the Brown Butter Banana Bread. When I get some more powdered sugar I'm going to make one for me.

I have another picture of the coyote last night. I don't like that he is coming around. Wish I knew a hunter.

A truck hit the overpass at I-10 and I-49 in Lafayette and the East bound traffic has to exit and get back on after the overpass. I bet that is a mess.

O’Sharon, you Martha and I all started a MC thread within about 20 minutes, so we had 3 threads going  That must be a record for one day. I know there have been days and we have had duplicate threads, but triple! So since your time was the earliest I transferred mine over here.Martha you snuck in right after I posted my post by about two minutes. So I decided to just go ahead and transfer mine over to this one instead. Actually I just noticed that O’Sharon beat both of us

Afternoon here at the 45th. Just finished some lunch. Where is everybody? Guess you must’ve turned over a new leaf to reduce screen time this year  Just finished some lunch. Where is everybody? Guess you must’ve turned over a new leaf to cut screen time this year  My excuse is that I was busy making sure I had all the right passwords and everything for my router and stuff so I can set up my new iPad Air.

Shirl, if you wind up with a pad, you are going to love the way you can transfer date over. I brought the new iPad Air 5th generation and all I had to do was set my old iPad next to my new one and it picked it up. Then I followed the instructions to get started which asked for my router password. Then another box came up with the old iPads camera in the middle. The object was to hold the camera over the new iPad so that it’s centered on a pattern that was in the middle of the new IPad and hold it there. The new iPad pattern turned blue with a mass of wavy dots and swirls, which I I’m sure are energy waves going between the two iPads. It’s fascinating to watch it. After a few minutes of that then you will get a notice from the old iPad that says to continue with the new one and it’s just a matter of following the prompts and setting up a couple things and let them sit together there for a couple minutes while the whole works transferred everything over and you’re done. Once the transfer is complete you have the option to either totally erased your old iPad so that you can get rid of it or whatever, or you can opt to keep that up for the time being. You do have an option to set up manually, or you can connect the two iPads together and do it that way p. But I went with the easy way. So that was my project for a little while because I had to double check my passwords and everything for my router. It has more than one. I will mess with the new iPad later, time for a break.

Another cloudy and breezy day today. We did get some rain last night but not that much. Temperature is holding in the low 30s. Nothing much supposed to happen in the way of weather this week.

So just thought I would get this thread off and running and now I should go see what else I can get into. I have a crockpot full of beef stew cooking on the counter. Will be some meals heading for the freezer. Made a meatloaf last night and put some of that in the freezer. Might make some of my I guess you could caught a cowboy soup this week sometime. It’s nothing but tomato juice, ground beef and vegetables all thrown together in the pot. It’s good. Be time to take a WALK pretty soon. Got to be careful that I don’t say it, or we will be going out the door in the next five minutes

Our weather pattern here is kind of quiet, so I don’t think you might get too much out your way, unless a storm decided to head up that direction. I haven’t been out yet today but the way my flag is flying and it looks a little breezy out there.

Thanks, Sue for saving me from merging 3 posts lol. Funny thing is they both were named identically!

Closest larger town to me is Harlingen. I looked up to see if they have a farmers market. They do, every Sat, for only 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon. Their website doesn't show much I think I'm interested in, but think I'll go this Saturday because it only takes one good booth. About 45 minutes drive is McAllen. Looked for theirs and they don't have it weekly but have one coming up Sat Jan 14 from noon to 5. And it combines with food trucks. Says 12 will be there that day. I think I'll be trying that one out, too.

And it's time to go birding and make my dentist appt in Mexico. I have to get off this lazy butt. Lol

Good afternoon ladies!

That's funny about the 3 morning posts and they didn't have to be merged! Lol!

O'Sharon & Sue, you can keep your cold weather there. Martha, you got quite a bit of rain in a short time. Beth, I love the Farmers Markets and we have one every Saturday from 9:00 until 2:00. The Flea Market is in town every Monday, but now that most of the snowbirds are here, I don't want to go them then. Way too many people.

We've been making out the invitations today for our 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 26 in the clubhouse. We'll be serving lunch to all those that come. This will be for our church congregation, 2 sisters & bil and close friends not in this resort and friends from MD that probably won't come. We'll hold a 2nd luncheon for our friends in this resort at a later date. I'll be fixing all the food for the first luncheon and haven't discussed the 2nd one yet. One thing at a time.

On a good note, we hit 82 degrees this afternoon but we have rain moving in tonight into tomorrow morning. I may not get my morning walk in. Trivia is this evening in the clubhouse and we're supposed to take an appetizer. So I need to get that made.

Rain, rain, and even heavier rain here. Plus really cold. Had a brief break yesterday so son and wife went out with kids for a four-mile hike in redwoods but I passed. I made chicken spaghetti for dinner last night so took it over to their trailer next door. Might have a brief break this afternoon to go out for a drive but maybe not. We are getting another 1.5 inches today and tomorrow with a little less rest of week and next week.

Hope this all helps the reservoirs and the drought

LOL. "Be careful what you wish for - you may get it".

Current predictions (at least as of last night) are for the remnants of a bomb cyclone that has formed out in the Pacific to push onshore later today and into tomorrow. Heavy rain at the coast and inland, heavy snow in the Sierra. One forecaster even said "there may be fatalities with this one".

Winds are predicted to be in excess of seventy mph in some areas, likely to cause downed power lines, downed trees and the all of the "usual". Severe flooding south of me is ongoing. The last time winds of this velocity came to my area my entire back wooden fence - about a hundred feet of it or so - blew down. My homeowner's insurance paid for the repair, but if it should happen again so soon they might not be so willing.

Additionally, my next door neighbor has an enormous, ancient, and many branched pine tree in their yard that has been leaning for years (and a bit more every year). I think it is just far enough away that if it comes down it won't hit my house - but I'm not 100% sure on that.

And, oh yes. All of us out here have been wishing for rain. And, boy, are we getting it!

Anne, I remember when your fence went down in that storm and watched as you were having it replaced. I hope you're spared this time.

Me too! Thanks, Irmi!

I just went out to look again at my neighbor's tree, and I think it is probably far enough away so that if it comes down it won't hit my house (whew!).

Anyway, here is "the latest" on the incoming storm:

"National Weather Service warns California as ‘bomb cyclone’ approaches. . . The system could trigger “immediate disruption to commerce, and the worst of all, likely loss of human life,” forecasters say."

https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/04/weather/severe-storm-tornado-threat-south-wednesday/index.html

Should be an "interesting" couple of days!

We've had our major cold spell. Somewhat above normal now. Humidity was way high, but back down now. I'm happy with where I'm at.

Good afternoon now I guess. Just finished lunch and getting a couple more things done and a pot of chili on, then will just settle for the afternoon. We have that wind event predicted for here also but so far just some rain off and on and a light breeze. But we shall see. Northern Californi is supposed to have it really bad. Medford is reporting outages and trees down already. I still have everything battened down on my back porch from the last storm, and will take my Christmas lights down the next decent day. I charged up my lanterns last week so they are good to go if needed. Tablet all charged up so that means we will have NO power outage cause I am prepared ha ha Our high will be 55 and the low 45 so I for sure will not freeze if it does go out.

Afternoon All, it’s mild and gloomy. Will be cloudy for the next week but temperatures will dro on Saturday. Having a blah day even with tree lights on. Sue, I switched data from old iPhone to new by laying side by side. I cleaned the kitchen and when I checked the phones it was finished. Amazing and scary what technology can do. Same method worked with my old iPad. I thought Apple could read my mind and knew I didn’t have a clue. The only thing I have going for me is years ago my the 9 yr old grandson taught me not to be afraid of a computer. I blunder around and think if I mess it up, can’t blunder out of the mess I will call my grandson. I feel so bad for everyone dealing with the crazy weather. I’ve spent the morning searching for a smile. I watched a video of an interactive between a family pet and a newborn baby. He would gently sniff the baby, back away and jump for joy. He was so excited but so understanding. Think we need to send him to Washington. They need lessons in behavior. Lol I waited to see what Karen was cooking. Think I recently had chili but love it so will have it tonight. Be safe

During a brief respite from the rain, we all (son, DIL, and two grandkids) went out for lunch, bookstore, and arcade at boardwalk in Santa Cruz, except boardwalk was closed off so you could not walk on it. We knew stores would be closed, but hoped we could walk on boardwalk at least. Now it is back to raining again.

I have a migraine. Been having them every couple of days in the afternoon, but have not had any in about 5-6 years, so thought I was done with them. Am going to skip dinner with family and try to take something for it. Might go to urgent care next week, if I keep getting these.

Not as warm here today with some sun and the extended forecast looks good, 40s and 50s until the end of January. I had my ears cleaned out this morning and wow did it make a difference in my hearing! It had been over 9 months since my last appointment and that was too long. This afternoon I had a massage which was wonderful as always. My neighbor came over later and I did a a reiki/hypnosis session for her. It was good having a busy day.
I ordered Pippa one of those fluffy round beds in pink, She thought it was a toy and wasn't sure what to do with it. Toby demonstrated and then wanted it.
Tina it's good to hear your little one is still doing well. I'll send good thoughts and energy your way tomorrow.
