Thursday December 29

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday December 29

Morning All, sunny and in 40°. The freezing temperatures were horrible. I’m no longer a summer person since the breathing issues but welcome cold brisk air. The packages from Christmas Amazon shopping will be in #1 daughters garage today so something to look forward to. My cell battery wouldn’t stay charged so bought a new phone. Another tech challenge but I won. I managed to transfer everything from old phone to new but couldn’t get the SIM card tray open. Spent hours cussing, walking away, mumbling to myself. Finally inserted the card thanks to YouTube. Lol Will take time learning new phone but it’s ok, my 10 yr old great grandson has the same phone. House plants are loving the wick system and if they are happy so am I. Need to do a few household chores and then take a ride. Hope all dealing with health issues are feeling better. Be safe.

Good morning Shirl. I feel your pain with the new phone as I just went thru this myself. I think I am pretty well dialed in now. Also got lots of help from Youtube. I dont have any access to a 12yr old so have to do everything techy in baby steps.

Went shopping yesterday and today I am putting on my Betty Crocker hat and making several "do ahead" meals for the freezer. Going to make some cabbage rolls, meatballs, pot of chili and for my lunch today stir fry. I would have made some stuffed peppers but forgot to buy the peppers ha ha. Needed some cabbage for my soup so also decided since it is kind of a large head I will have enough to make the cabbage rolls. AND if I dont run out of ambition will make a couple of those personal lasagna casseroles. Then I should be all set for a while.

Thank goodness no more wind damage right now. Expecting more rain this week as it is really helping our draught situation. We need lots more tho so every time it rains I just smile and enjoy it while we have it. 40 this morning, cloudy 51 our high. They say rain today but it must be much later as nothing showing on the radar yet. Just finished breakfas to will get dressed and get busy in the kitchen.

Still under a wind advisory here this morning, but will let up starting around noon. Meantime I have a dinky order from Walmart ready for pickup, so heading out in a few.

I checked last night and the Escapees club still had openings for one of their gtgs... The Mardi Gras one. When I'm back from the store I'm going to call and ask a few questions. Maybe it's time to do this. Yikes, awfully peoply though. Maybe I could gtg with Martha if I do this?

Karen, sounds like you're going to have a wonderful freezer assortment.

Did anyone one notice our extra daylight yesterday? Stayed light here until 5 o'clock. Fine by me! Starting to take down the Christmas decorations. As much as I like the lights and sparkle I start to find the extra decorations annoying. Just too much clutter. I have some small lights called firefly lights and I think I will leave some of those out. We plan to leave at the end of January for Yuma. Will there for at least a month. I can't wait to feel the sunshine.. supposed to get up into the 30's for the next few days so I think I will be able to fit a few walks in. I have a ski pole I use as a walking stick to get over the frozen snow and ice mounds. Enjoy your day.

Beth, are you talking about the Escapees Mardi Gras in Iowa, La. That's about 80 miles from me. Do they still have openings? If you sign up I will too. I have been a member for years but have never been to a park or any gtg.

It got up to 80 this afternoon. It's very windy but the sun is shining. Hard to believe that this time last week it was freezing.

I finally got my eggnog at the Daiquiri place. I was surprised at how lite the traffic was in Lafayette. It has been crazy. Maybe I won't have to go tomorrow. I got an appointment to get my hair cut in the morning. I was about to start hacking on it myself. I should have checked my phone. I called one of Sugar's prescriptions in that usually takes 3 days. They sent me a message that it's ready.

Better go walk Sugar before I have to wear a jacket. As soon as the sun starts going down the temperature drops fast.

Oh Martha, yes that's it but while they had openings when I looked a week or so ago I procrastinated because of wondering what my car would cost. Sold out now. I did put myself on the waiting list but would much rather plan it with you! How about we think in advance next year? I'm hoping to go to the balloon festival this fall if I don't procrastinate that away. If anyone else is interested in either of these, let me know. It'd be fun to have friends along.

So happy that Carol D got hold of me to get back on the forum. I've missed her!

Rita, I'm laughing about your extra daylight. It's about the same as two weeks ago. But, yes, I'm happy to see it going up again.

We are having a heat wave it got up to 58 today and supposed to be warm for several days but with heavy rain. We really need rain and it's a lot better than snow.
Rita I noticed it stayed light longer yesterday too, it's been getting dark by 4:30-4:45 here and last night it was almost five. I'm glad you are heading to Yuma and sunshine. We didn't put up any decorations this year and I didn't miss them but then I don't like Christmas. Karen I wish I were as organized as you especially preparing food ahead. I did make chicken soup for dinner but didn't decided to make it until around four o'clock Shirl I don't think I could set up a new phone it took the store over two hours to transfer all the stuff to my new one and they had a few glitches they had to really work on. Beth I'm glad carold is coming back I always enjoyed following their travels. It would be great if there are cancellations and you can meet up with Martha. Now I need to go clean up and put things away from making the soup.

Finished all my cooking chores. I had the oven on anyway so just threw the meatballs, cabbage rolls, and lasagna in there. Then when it cooled packed it up for the freezer. Then I had to food saver the rest of the hamburger I didnt use as I bought the family pack as it was on sale for $1.97/lb . So got that all done weighed and labeled and in the freezer. Got the soup broth done while all this was cooking. Now it is in the fridge and I will finish it tomorrow when adding the potatoes and cabbage. Going to make a loaf of homemade bread to have with my soup. Just need to throw everything in the breadmaker. That is about all on my agenda for tomorrow except for some laundry. And maybe a quick vacuum.

Martha, if just I get a site, I could change to 2 people if you're willing to sleep on my couch. I'm not counting on anyone cancelling but you never know.

Ok, I love the weather and wish it would be a tad cooler now lolol I'm a fan of 70's. What age has done to me!

e would like to do so she wouldn't be cold she didn't know... I ought to contact my sil and see if she can make something like what my brother had I can't remember just exactly what it was but he wore it to stay a bit warmer.... but if it's like the electric throw that I got her last Christmas that is still in the box she probably wouldn't use it anyway....
all of the decorations that were put up was the tree typically my two dd's come over and put up the village and garland ect my nephew and his family put up the tree... the tree got put up but the villages ect didn't the girls I think were overwhelmed with life dd#3 just bought a house and was busy sitting it up and dd#2 not sure what her reasoning was but with her husband still recovering from his fall it just didn't happen..
oh well it is over and if I'm here next year hopefully it will be different...
just hate it when I was going to comment on something and it's gooooone it may pop back up and no guarantees
did anyone see the planets line up the last couple of nights? read about it too late and besides that we were cloudy.... yep it came back I noticed yesterday that it was getting darker later and as I was out when it was just getting dark about 5:30 that is a bit later than it's been...
It was so neat seeing carold's name looking forward to more posts from her...
got a bunch of red meat out of the discounted meat section forgot to get the zip lock bags and am totally out of the quart size need to got to the store and get some.. and then figure out how to rearrange the freezer so it will fit in... I have a hard time chopping up some roast that cost over 20 dollars to make stew with.... and stew sounds really good so I will chop up some steak that was discounted
somehow my carry oxygen holder fell in the basket and hooked onto the wire of the basket couldn't get it undone finally had to ask someone to do it for me it was my angle and my fingers not working right... I guess so frustrating
