One week to Christmas Eve

Morning from the 45th. Looking like it’s going to be a White Christmas here this year. Not a lot out there, maybe 2-3 inches, but more coming today and tonight. Mostly the 1-3 inch stuff, but it gradually adds up. Biggest thing is arctic air filtering down this coming week. That will set off the lake effect snow machine. Thing is, it will be a dry snow and easy to blow as compared to this wet stuff we’ve been getting.

Thought I was going to have to mosey my way to town yesterday, but the roads were clear and just wet. So no issues there whatsoever. The county plowed our road yesterday too. So I got my errands run and then I came home, put the exterior paint on the backs of my woodcraft fence peekers and decided to make up new password pages for all of my passwords. I had been writing them on notebook paper, but I have made changes on some, dropped others etc. and it was getting to the point where there were too many cross offs, changes and stuff, that I decided to time to straighten that out. if something happens to me, somebody is going to have to use those passwords to close out accounts and I want to make sure they at least can read them, not to mention reading them myself I keep them all in a notebook. So it was kind of a puttery day yesterday. So, this morning I am going to go out and run the snowblower around my drive and my neighbors. The woodcraft pattern that I was waiting for came yesterday, and I really would like to get it traced and cut out before the temperature drops anymore. This shouldn’t take too long to cut, because it’s pretty simple with not a lot of sharp turns and curves.

Beth, hope your car is an easy fix. Barbie, I have the same issues with my dogs in the middle of the night. Molly want to go and sleep outside for awhile, Piper wants out to pee or something, so then I go back to bed and wake up later to let Molly back in but I have been making it a point to go to bed anytime between nine and 10, I just read for a short bit and that’s it. So that helps. I have usually up around six in the morning complements of the dogs Then I have a little bit of breakfast and catch up on emails and Facebook and here, before I get my day started.

And since I’ve done that, played a game of FreeCell and did my daily Wordscapes, it’s time to get cleaned up, get dressed and head out to the snow. Have a nice day all.

Good morning all. A cold start to the weekend, only 32 right now and the cold supposed to continue downward all week. Another snow event forecasted for the end of the week but as Sue said will probably be more of the drier variety. I managed to use the snowblower on the sidewalks despite the fact it was so wet. I had just made it back to my driveway when all of a sudden the whole chute blew off! There I stood with a geyser of wet icy yucky stuff landing on me and going down the back of my coat. Talk a about a total surprise and not to mention the cold and wet. It really shouldn’t have surprised me since it isn’t designed for the heavy icy mess. So now I need to figure out how to fix it and before the end of the week and I need to do this all over again. Having the extra for my neighbors would make shoveling having my back screaming. Since the accident in May I’ve certainly been dealing with back issues that I hadn’t before. Definitely my weak spot that I’m learning to work around. Have I mentioned I dislike winter? Hibernation sounds good to me! I’ve been following all the comments on Roku and whatnot and still trying to decide which way to go. I did try to call Comcast the other day but after holding for some time I gave up. Will try again when I have more patience to hold forever. Tina, exciting about the puppies that are due very soon. Buddy and I went up to bed last night and while I was off brushing teeth etc he decided he could get up on the bed all by himself! So far he’s been acting like he isn’t sure about the steps I have by the bed and would rather I coax him up but there he was sitting up by my pillow looking so proud of himself. So much for needing help! I think he may be smarter than me! Lyn, exiting news that you have a new companion. Beth, hope you’re not looking at a major repair on your car. Fingers crossed. Time to think about finding something for lunch and then go out and attempt to fix the snowblower. Have a good day!

I know you've got colder than me, but the rain this morning and upper 40's, brrrr. Ty didn't fool around on his morning outing. Hard to believe I was in a sundress yesterday. I just made some hot chocolate and donated to a Christmas fund here for the kids in town.

Another advantage to Roku I discovered when at my Casita that has cable. When I watch anything on Roku I can pause it.. if I miss the first 10 minutes I can ask it to start from the beginning (on most). It was really frustrating watching a movie on cable and getting a phone call and not being able to do that on cable. I'm getting spoiled lol

I’ve been following all the comments on Roku and whatnot and still trying to decide which way to go. I did try to call Comcast the other day but after holding for some time I gave up.

If you are trying to phone Comcast about using a Roku with their service, what will likely happen (that is, if you can ever actually speak to anyone - good luck with that) is that they will try to sell you their version of Roku, I think it's called "Xfinity Flex" or maybe "Xumo".

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't bother with this. Comcast is my internet service provider (has been for years) and I use my Roku with my Comcast service (have been doing so for years).

Good morning!

A cloudy 20 degree day so far. They keep changing the snow forecast and so far, it doesn't look like much. I went to check out the webcam to see how busy downtown was last night and all the webcams were shut down. Found out they had a gun threat which turned out to be nothing.

We are going to have lots of new dog and puppy stories on here! Beth, fingers crossed for the transmission expense!

I think this will be a pajama/college sports day!

Good afternoon all. Chilly morning here 30° but the sun has come out and it is a balmy 41° now ha ha Cleaned the bathrooms this morning, put away some stuff, threw in a load of laundry. Just had lunch so think I am done for the day. Going to do some research on cell phones as I think it is time I got a new one. Not sure what kind to get yet, just know it will not be an IPhone.

Pot roast in the crockpot for dinner. Going to make roasted potatoes in the air fryer so they should be tasty. Going to check out the tube and see if anything I feel like watching is on.

Brrr Sharon I shivered just reading about the wet icy stuff going down the back of your coat! I think I need a cup of tea just thinking about it. Hope you can get it fixed. We are supposed to get snow and rain and really cold temps by Christmas so of course I am already imagining the worst.
I just let Toby out a few minutes ago and saw a big deer in the yard. He loves to chase them and since the yard is fenced they just hop over. As he ran out 3 other deer I hadn't seen also ran for the fence. I noticed he didn't run as fast or bark without Emma his back up.
This has seemed like such a long day and I even had a nap. If I could get motivated there is plenty to do around here but oh well I will think about it tomorrow. Karen send me some of your energy and motivation! I love my iPhone but then I've never had anything else. Hope you can find a good deal. Like Sue I need to get a new computer but would need to hire someone to set it up, another thing to think about

Getting tired of such short days because they make it hard to get to a campground before dark. Also, I like to run errands while I drive from one place to another--groceries, gas, odds and ends, etc. Can't do this if I have to race to get set up in the cold, and before dark. At least, things will start turning around in a few days and days will be longer.

Only two other campers in my campground. I stopped this morning after leaving Tehachapi glider campground and stocked up on bakery items, plus dropped off some things at the post office. Also filled up with relatively cheap gas. Anyway, I won't need to go anywhere for a few days, but then heading to Napa on Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing my son and his family. Grandson (age 17) just finished his ground flight school and got approved for soloing on his next flight. He wants to be a professional pilot, so is getting his private pilot's license this last year of high school, and then will go to a college that offers a program for pilots. He is soloing tomorrow, so I told him to be careful. He will go the first two years to a community college because his parents are paying a lot for his pilot's training. Maybe he can make it to a four-year college sooner, but don't know because of the expense of all the flight training. Very expensive these days.

My younger son is close to getting his pilot's license, but he is just doing it for fun, and somehow I don't worry about him so much.

Was a long and frustrating day at work. Several challenging haircuts today and was very busy. The owner came back in and was not in a good mood. We got into a "discussion" about break times. He needs to be right even when he is wrong. I was actually defending the new gal because she took a 10 minute break without clocking out (which is permitted for a 5 hour work shift). He was upset that it was busy and she was on her break and she hadn't clocked out. It wasn't busy when she left and was entitled to that break time and didn't need to be clocked out. It wasn't pretty and unfortunately, he started this "discussion" in the shop in front of all the customers. I don't like conflict so I kept my composure and ended the conversation before he got any louder. I just wanted to intervene before he came down on her about it since I was the one who told her she could take that break before it got busy. As soon as she left, we got hit with a lot of customers. That is when he came in.

Now I am very tired tonight! I put my warm jammies on as soon as I got home Will have a bite to eat and some hot cocoa with Baileys before I go to bed.

Last night I put in the cat door to the porch for Romeow and he was a good boy all night so I will keep doing that so he can go out there when he wants and leave me alone!

so pretty much a repeat of yesterday with the exception of my dd's popped in told them I have a cold and about that time mom started coughing... they didn't stay long... but they did go to the store for me so I didn't have too... which I really appreciated... even if they went to Albertson's (I don't like there store brand of milk) but oh well it is what is...
I wish I could remember when my sister's son had an accident sometime this fall they told her then that it would be 2 months before it would even be looked at to see if it was repairable... it just doesn't make sense to me... I actually think that is the insurance company ...
I did spend some time with my friend's book and no nap today

I have been to Lafayette so many times this week I don't know if I'm coming or going. My son checked himself out of the hospital Thursday morning. He was going stir crazy and complained all the time about being cold. We had brought him 3 blankets and I told him they would give him blankets if he would just ask. They wanted him to stay until Monday. They gave him enough Potassium "horse pills" to last until Monday. My son's description. So far his blood pressure is staying up.

Thursday night I went to eat out with my Meetup group. We went to one of the fancier restaurant in Lafayette. They think they are fancy but I was not impressed with the food.

The RV shop called Thursday afternoon and my RV was ready. I was really surprised that it was ready so quick. I got my neighbor to bring me to pick it up. I really should get my CRV towable so I don't have to find rides.

This morning before I headed out I took some Aleve because my hip was hurting. I didn't notice until after I took it that it was Aleve PM. I though I was going to have to park in a parking lot and take a nap on my way home. At least I know it works to make me sleep.

It's a good thing I wasn't planning on going any where for Christmas because I have to be here to watch the water. We are suppose to have temperatures as low as 20 on Thursday thru Saturday. Need to get started on wrapping what I can. We are just not prepared for temperatures that low.

Martha your low is higher than our high just a thought perhaps someone can chime in but some things work better.... example now perhaps this is folk lore but we are doing it and so far mom's iron level is good so I think it is C that helps the body absorb Iron pills better... and for some reason it seems like there is a "companion" vit to take with Potassium it might help...
