Mornin All, it’s 43° and sunny. Have errands to run and a couple loads of laundry. Glad I didn’t bake apple crisp yesterday. I will use the air fryer. Read to adjust recipe 25%. So for 350° for 30 minutes will be 325° for 15 minutes in the air fryer? I have a humongous ring binder on my genealogy and had boxes of pictures from different relatives. I bought 7 large ring binders from Staples, heavy duty sheet protectors from Amazon. I made 7 copies of everything. Gave them to 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Told them to shove the books in a closet until someday they would want read them. They can throw away the pictures I couldn't. Lol Be safe.

Good Morning Shirl and all who check in later. The sun is out but it's doing a 'now you see me now you don't' so not sure how the day will go. The weather man said we would have a high of 45.

Shirl good idea on distributing your family photos. I have several very old photos but I don't have many relatives left and none I know of that would want them so I'm thinking of donating them to the History Room in a nearby town. All of my relatives were some of the first to settle in this part of the country, some came up from the south in wagon trains. One had quite a reputation and is mentioned in a few books about the area during a very turbulent time. My brother and I found one of the books in the school library and asked our Granny about it. She was so upset she told us not talk about it and this was at least 40 years after the event. Thankfully the rest of the early family settlers appear to have been good citizens.

Barbie I've thought about getting different clippers but I like the ones I'm using in spite of the weight. I also have many blades that fit it so I'll just do short sessions as neither of us seem up to very long periods of grooming time.

Did anyone else have strange things on your Facebook page this morning? I searched my name and found pages of what look like bogus account, same for DH account plus on his timeline was about two years in the past. Seems to be ok now but my profile photo is missing so I wonder if the one I think is my account is really me! I tried with no success to change passwords on both accounts but finally gave up in frustration.

I have it on good authority that Facebook is part of the vast Evil Empire, devoted to driving all normal people stark, raving, mad.

Avoid Facebook at all costs. 8-)

Good morning!

It's a beautiful sunny day and 28 degrees - was 13 when I woke just before 9.

Pat, sweet photo and yes, they grow up too fast! I had Passport America but toward the end of my travels, parks had too many restrictions on days you could stay, and many were getting very bad reviews on RV park reviews. Fortunately, I had family who were very good about labeling photos! About the only ones that weren't were my mother with her Navy friends. I have so many family genealogy notebooks! I think one grandson will want them. BJ, donating photos was a great thing to do. We probably all have some of those stories the older generation would like to forget!

Monica and I went to a Christmas concert yesterday. Village Voices and a handbell ringer group. First time at the Arts Center and it is lovely set below the mountains. We are both learning that walking and driving in the snow is much different than on the other side of the mountains. First off, it's expected so roadways are cleared. Second, this snow is easy to walk on - not icy for the most part.

Not sure what all is on the list for today. I do need to decide about changing auto insurance companies.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Getting later here in the east with gloomy sky and a few random flurries coming down and all of 34. I died gas and started the snowblower just in case so now I need to remember to get gas next time I’m out and about. I called the vet clinic I have an appointment with Thursday afternoon to see how to handle it since the forecast has gone back and forth with 3-5 and 5-8 inches of snow and ice that day. Luckily they said to keep it and see how it goes and if I can get over the 2 mountain roads I have to get over. And if not we’ll reschedule. So that makes me feel better. Since it often happen they have to close the road out of town here to allow plows to keep up and treat it. I ordered a harness for Buddy yesterday afternoon from Chewy and it was actually here this morning. And I opted for regular shipping and handling. Impressed me! I feel so much better not to be tugging on his neck collar now. It’s going to be a work in progress to convince him that he wants to go the direction I want him to go! As I’ve been writing this my phone has gotten 5 messages that I’ve won a bunch of money. It’s coming in on the house phone and only rings once and goes to voicemail. I’ve forgotten how to block numbers so I need to look that up again. Then they’ll probably call on a different number. So annoying. Hope everyone has a good day. Travel safe if you are on the move be it journeying to a new place or just driving in your own area.

It's a lazy morning here at Death Valley. Sunny and a bit chilly, but I am going to walk to visitor center in a few minutes. About half the road in this national park are closed because of the summer floods, so I am limited a bit in where I can go. Also, Scotty's castle is still closed for long-term repairs and will be closed for another couple of years.

I have a lot of cousins. One of them had a fire in her house when she was in college that destroyed all the family photos and the other had her dad's second wife go through and destroy all the photos of her mother. So, when I went through photos, I passed on any of those two that I found, especially baby and toddler photos.

Anne, how are the reservoirs in California doing? Are these recent rains helping to fill them up? Hope so. Also, I have not heard of many fires lately so hope these are not as bad as the last couple of years. How about an update from you, since I am sure you keep up with this.

Hello Judy, thanks for asking.

By and large, when the remnants of the hurricane blew into southern California a couple of months ago (and continued north quite a ways) with quite a lot of rain (pretty early for rain) this pretty much put an end to this year's fire season, and helped to extinguish the fires that were raging at that time. There were a few bad fires this year, but nothing like those of the past couple of years. I didn't have any ashfall here at my house at all this summer, which was a blessing.

As for the recent rains - it seems that the media is making quite a big "to-do" about California getting hammered by a major storm these past couple of days; at my house it was just your basic little bit of rain - really not that much in the great scheme of things.

The Sierras got quite a lot of snow, but a couple or three wet storms will not even begin to turn the tide. And the water from the Sierra snows will not make it into the reservoirs until either there is a warm rain on top of the snow (which would be very bad for this snow to melt suddenly, and all at once) or when spring comes and warmer weather melts the snow.

Here's a graph showing Oroville Reservoir (Oroville is the large reservoir nearest to me) showing December 12, 2022 water levels at this time of year are still well below the water levels for the same date in 2020 and 2021.

Not good (scroll down this page for drought information):

https://oroville.lakesonline.com/Level/

Certainly any bit of rain helps, but it will take a series of large, wet and persistent storms to get our lakes and reservoirs back up to where they are not such a worry, not to mention where they should be. We are not nearly there yet, not even close, and looking at the ten-day forecast, there doesn't seem to be any more rain coming in.

Velda, other N. Cal ladies: you get a lot of rain where you are? Me, not so much.

It's been a long day. I didn't get much sleep last night and got up early to go see about my son. I took him to the emergency room. The hospital is full and there were no rooms so they were doing test in and out of the waiting room. They were monitoring my son's blood pressure and all of a sudden it dropped to 65. We saw some action then. They moved him to a recliner in one of the halls with an IV. They finally put him in one of the surgery recovery rooms and said they would move him to a room when they could. I just talked to him and he hasn't moved yet. I'm glad they got to see what his blood pressure is doing because I don't think they believe him when he tells them he got weak and fell. I hope I don't catch something hanging around a hospital all day.

My photo album from college was stored at my first husband's parent's house and it burned. I regret losing that album. Also lost a dress I made using a Vogue pattern. When I finished that dress I felt like I was a professional seamstress. That was the most complicated pattern I had ever seen but the dress was beautiful.

I have a couple of friends on Facebook and someone is always cloning their page and sending out friend requests. I don't know how to report something like that to Facebook. Before I will accept a friend request I go to the page and see what it looks like. You can tell it's fake if there are only a few posts.

Good evening...I am late again LOL Nothing too much to report other than me doing some housekeeping chores. Cleaned out my laundry room today, I dont know how such a small space can get so cluttered so fast. Then I put up my Video doorbell, so far so good. Of course the UPS man came BEFORE I had a chance to get it up there,,,oh well.

Martha I lost all my old year books in the fire too. I lost alot of very sentimental stuff in that damn fire. Oh well life goes on. My cousins sent me lots of old time pictures of our family, grandparents, cousins etc after the fire. I had alot of pictures of our family in a tub I had in offsite storage that didnt get burnt so have them here now but need to go thru them all. Sorry to hear about your son, hope he weill get diagnosed and fixed soon. I am either getting cloned or getting requests from people I am already friends with. I can always tell because they have no mutual friends. No need to report, they are long gone onto another persona. Just annoying, not harmful.

We are going to have a good week of sunny but cold weather. I will take it, I need some Vitamin D. Sharon I had trouble with my dog walking on a leash and not pulling. I got an Easy Walk harness that made all the difference. Because it hooks in front and when she pulled i could turn her around to look at me and wait. She learned very quickly to behave LOL someone elses might have another solution if that is your issue with Buddy.

Barbie, I used Passport America a lot many years ago. I let it drop but might consider purchasing it again if I head east. From Utah to Arizona, then Arizona to Texas, I almost exclusively boondocked. That's harder out east.

I'm wishing I was tired because I'd like to get an early start tomorrow and get Ty out to run (I walk! I let him off leash) before coming back to watch a zoom meeting of the board of directors at my park in Arizona. I'm not usually available but I'm going to try to catch at least some of the meeting. Then maybe head into town for a couple groceries, mainly fresh fruit and I really want ice cream in the space I've made in the freezer lol. I won't be surprised if I don't make the meeting or cut it short. But I should watch!

My mom lost most of our family pictures when a storage unit they were in flooded. We were able to salvage a few pictures. After I started rving I moved all my photos onto digital devices. I know where they are but they are probably outdated devices by now! Meaning I might not have anything to plug them into. I'll need to check that one of these days. It would be fun to spend some time reminiscing with what I do have.

Was a slow day today which was good for me. I couldn't get to sleep last night until 2:30am, so only got 5 hours of sleep.

Never got out of the 50's here today and tonight is supposed to get down to about 34* :o ! Gonna be a cold morning tomorrow for putters golf!! I think I have some gloves and earmuffs in the shed!

Got the next 3 days off. Really need to get stuff done! I think after putters, I should be wide eyed and bushy tailed and be able to get my frozen butt in gear! Thursday is the Christmas golf cart parade at 4 pm and then a big chili feed after that. I remember the last one they had 3 years ago and the chili was SO good! I wanted seconds but they ran out. Hope they make enough for seconds this year! Otherwise I might have to make my own to supplement at home.

I gave a lot of my mom's old photos to my cousin who is really into the family history and geneology. I still have several bin of photos to go thru. I will save some that I want to look at periodically, and make a photo album of family pics for my daughter. The rest can get tossed. There is no one else in my family who would want them. I also have several CD's of photos I took with my digital camera but can go thru those later. Mostly travel photos and pet photos.

Gas prices are coming down again. Have seen it just under $4 per gallon now! :o However, the grocery prices are crazy high! Can't believe how expensive everything is now! Am starting to buy more generic brands now.

I reported the big hole under the tree stump with the fire ants, to security this morning so they were gonna pass that on to the landscape crew today. Will see tomorrow if they did something about it. Also need to call the maintenance guy to see if he can check my propane situation soon.

I am getting tired now so probably a good time to get ready for bed and try to get to sleep early tonight to make up for last night. Need to be up by 8am to get to the putting course on time. Just picked up some more Cappuccino mix so that will be good to have with me when I head over there, to keep me warm! I have a pair of corduroy jeans that I will wear too. We can't wear blue jeans on the course and my work pants are very thin material and won't keep me warm.

Good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie while I'm thinking of it ... I will have to see if my friend is in Q and figure out how to introduce you and have her take you desert golfing... pick up a couple of gold clubs that you don't care about though...
the whole western united states as well as other areas are in a drought situation..and are so thankful for what we are getting... will it fill the lakes and reservoirs not on your life but it can't hurt... saw video showing a train clearing the tracks in the Sierra Nevada's never thought about them having a snow plow train...
years ago when we first started RVing we were in Neb... stopped at a cemetery hoping to find grave stones of ancestors which we did however the one that I was looking for actually didn't find so when we stopped at a gas station to go to the restroom I decided to get some candy when I got up to the check out they asked if I needed anything else so I asked if there were other "old" cemetery's around a voice behind me asked who I was looking for I replied he said I am one.. so we visited for a bit and exchanged phone numbers later in the fall I got a phone call from his sister who lived in Sun City not a huge distance from Q so we went to visit Clint was there as well... they had a photo book so we looked through this book saw old pictures of people we presume are ancestor's even looking through them I could see family traits in several of the pictures... and none of them were labeled  :? :( it is so sad although I do have copies of these pictures... somewhere... I sure wish they were named...
niece came over and decorated the tree good to see it up and decorated... my dd's usually come over and put up the decoration's but I'm not counting of them this year... dd#2 is still staying close to home and dd#3 moved further away... it would be nice I guess they could bring the stuff up and I could put up the village its just doing it much easier to let someone else do it :?
Martha hope they figure out the issues with your son... it's always scary not knowing and hopefully you don't get sick as well...
you all have a great day

Actually, Martha, I think it is a very good thing your son went to the emergency room and had a sudden bout of low blood pressure! Much better there where the doctors and nurses can observe it than having problems and falling when he is alone.

I had a friend who passed out when she woke up suddenly in the night and ran up the stairs to get me when we were staying in the same house. Every time I tried to get her up off the floor, she passed out again, and it turned out to be low blood pressure. I had to call 911 after she could not get up, and they discovered the issue. (She has been to see a doctor since then and is doing fine.) It would not have been good if she had passed out and not been able to get up had she been alone. Hopefully, the doctors will believe your son that he has a problem other than just feeling weak and do something to find the cause and help him.
