Morning All, 40°sunny and air quality rated excellent so a great day. Have an Amazon delivery to #1 daughters so a 1/2 hour drive on a nice day. The delivery means I will have an apple crisp in a 10” ramkin tomorrow. Amazon driver sends picture if delivery in my area. The island is more congested so they now deliver after dark. I don’t drive after dark so switch deliveries to #1 daughters home in the country which only has early USPS delivery. Beth, glad you are going out to dinner. I have spent so much time alone the last couple of years I have to force myself to go to gatherings. The experts say it’s good for us. I guess I need to take off pjs put on real clothes and comb my hair. Lol Be safe

Greetings. Was going to say good morning but realized it’s noontime! I’ve gotten exactly nothing done so far today but suppose ai should get something accomplished! Or not. Puppy and I have been out a couple of times so I did do something! We’re forecasted to get some snow later tonight into tomorrow so it’ll be fun to see how Buddy reacts to it. And I need to drag out my snow boots that I’ve been procrastinating doing. Neighbors are in Costa Rica so I’ll be shoveling their sidewalk too. So basically a half of the block since they now own the lot next to them. I figured we’d get snow while they’re gone, just didn’t think it would happen so soon after they left! But that’s okay, it’s something we do for each other. I’m lucky to have such good neighbors. So not much else going on here. Needed to go to Lowes yesterday but not planning on going near any stores this weekend! Probably should get my recycling taken care of before it becomes a muddy mess around the bins. There’s a plan for today! Beth, good that you’re deciding to get out a bit. I agree with you Shirl, I’ve found myself having to make myself go out and about more. It’s getting a little easier but I sometimes have to really think about it whereas I used to just do it. Okay, that’s about it from me today! Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning from very snowy Leavenworth! I think the forecaster wasn't exactly correct in the amount of snow we would get. Probably at least 18 inches and still falling. People are out cleaning off vehicles, which I will do later. I haven't seen the snowplow come through yet. Maintenance man has Saturdays off so snowblower may not appear. Remains to be seen if daughter and I will get to go to Christmas concert tomorrow. Fun watching the dogs in the snow. The main road into town from the west is closed due to avalanche danger - weekenders will not be happy.

I'm not very good about getting out either - really not anywhere I know to socialize here. Still haven't been downtown. Dentist said I'm very good at breaking crowns - this one can't be repaired or replaced. My brother is still having tests done! Another scheduled for January 6.

Martha, you can come here for Christmas! :D We don't have an Amazon driver here so didn't know about them taking pictures! Lots of FB posts in the area of missing packages. When Steven started working for UPS, packages had to be signed for - even if it was by a neighbor. Pat, always enjoy your posts!

Here's the webcam link if you'd like to see what's happening downtown. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmtVbezZaqg

Good morning, so far. We are having quite the storm, windy and rainy but a break in the action is coming. I keep telling myself "we need the rain and snowpack". Yup my new Mantra. I believe it is coming eastward so look out. Our ski areas opened today here and at Mt Shasta. So you know they have snow.

Anita I love looking at snow. It is so magical. Unless I have to shovel it or drive in it...nope
Shirl beautiful video. I am going to Safeway soon as I ordered a few things they had a good sale on so I am just using the pickup lane. I bought my Chow Mein noodles and butterscotch chips, and peanuts so I can make some Haystack cookies. No cooking, my kind of cookie. Just refrigerator for 30 minutes to let them set then put them in an airtight container...yes.
Since the store yesterday had hamburger on sale I bought a family pack and today am going to make some "do ahead meals". Lasagna, Meatloaf, meatballs, and a bit more spaghetti sauce...all for the freezer. I forgot peppers or I would have made more stuffed peppers but no big deal. Bought a pack of white fish for lunch today and also picked up my stir fry fixins so I will have an abundance of food right now both to freeze and eat.

Will throw a load of laundry in this afternoon while I am in the kitchen. It is too dang cold and windy out to go put my new cabin filter in my car. Or put up my new video doorbell. So keeping busy inside. I guess I am not very social either LOL I dont like large gatherings especially now with the Flu, RSV, and Covid running rampant. Good thing I like my own company.

Anita, I would like to see where you live but I don't do snow. It's beautiful in pictures. lol

I went to Lafayette to check on my son and the traffic was terrible. I though about stopping for lunch but all the parking lots were full. I picked up a bag of dog food at Petsmart and got out of there as fast as I could. There was something cattle related going on at the show barn and the cattlemen were cooking gumbo at 5:00. The cattle women were invited but I had enough of crowds for the day. If I didn't belong to the camping and eat out groups I would be a hermit.

There is nothing I want to watch on TV. On Saturday nights I usually watch the shows on PBS but tonight there is nothing but music and not music I want to hear. Maybe I could watch The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas. lol

It's been an interesting day on the town FB page! The main highway from the west has a detour due to avalanche possibility that has been backed up for hours. 2 buses (not local transit) in town got themselves in a bind - one behind the other on a narrow street. Streets are being blocked off. People are being towed for leaving cars in a small grocery parking lot and probably a few other places. Cars are being parked on the road. What a free for all! I looked at the webcam a few minutes ago - no thank you. The front loader has been scooping up plowed snow in our parking lot for hours and piling it up. Such entertainment!

Glad to see that some of you are getting a lot of needed rain. The snow also helps long term, but I imagine it makes things a lot more messy in the meantime. I am just glad I am no longer living in snowy places. I would prefer it to be just a bit warmer here, but I like it chilly over hot any day. I even put on a sweatshirt and walked downhill to the store today. It is right on the C0lorado River at the marina, but it is at least half a mile from the campground and about 400' lower in elevation, which of course means I had to walk uphill back to my campsite. They put the campground up the hill and away from the river because this area drains a lot of mountains and is prone to flash floods. In fact, the campground, store/visitor center, and even the fishery is less than 15 years old because the old ones got washed away and some people died.

Been lazy about posting, but I do read everything. Been really focused on my aunt's condition and lately over the contract the one caregiver company sent me. I passed it on to the other POA because it basically said in great detail about how they would report family members for suspected abuse of patients, but that if we chose to sue them over anything wrong their employees did, we would be required to pay all their legal fees and for time dealing with the lawsuit!!! Which means they have a free hand to abuse or ignore our family member, and we will end up paying for all of it!! Passed it on to our lawyer, also before we will sign it!! On my way to Death Valley tomorrow and then to Napa in a few days.

A long day and I am hurting all over. My back, shoulders, knees, feet, etc are all aching tonight! The heating pad will be under by back tonight! :o Someone is cooking a BBQ meal on a grill around here and it smells SO good!

When I got to work this morning, there were about 8 squad cars in front of Walmart with their lights flashing! My first thought was a shooting or something! I saw people going in to the store tho so I cautiously went in. Turns out it was a Christmas thing with the police department and they were handing out gifts to the kids there and Santa was there too. A lot of other people were thinking the same thing as me tho. Now days, you just never know!

I got my "turkey card" today. It was a Fry's food card, but I have never heard of Frys so I had to google it to see where they were. Turns out they are the parent company for two local grocery stores here, Food 4 Less, and Ralphs. I stopped at Ralphs on the way home and used up the card on things for the X-Mas dinner party including some mini bottles of Baileys. Still need to pick up coleslaw and flowers but will do that a day or two before and at a different store.

The harness I have for Romeow I put on him quite a bit, and he is used to it now and runs around the house without a problem while wearing it. I have even walked a little with him on the leash inside the house. I think he probably has never been outside before so he felt overwhelmed when I brought him out there. I will try the kitty screen room. Maybe he will feel safer in there. He loves being out in my porch and sitting in the windows watching the birds and dogs.

Got tomorrow off. Hopefully I will be motivated to get something done. Still need to find someone to check my propane issue. Not sure what I am gonna do about my ebike. There is a place not too far from here that works on ebikes so I might stop there and just ask them what they think the problem might be and what it would cost to have them check it out.

It has been unseasonally cool here, in the mid 60's, but I don't mind. The snowbirds are complaining tho.

Have a good night!

Barbie I think when I am in Q I complain more about the cold than I do about the heat... :? and then try to put it into perspective compared to up here it wasn't cold didn't help...
Cheryl it's too bad you are not in Yuma Jenny has her lights up sure looks pretty...
did get vacuuming done today...
I think Anita that we are suppose to get some of what you got... at least there is a winter storm warning out... substantial snow fall ... I like your mantra Karen...
I did get my boots and they fit they probably will be worn tomorrow to church... if I can get out of the driveway I should be able to just that I'm a woos when it comes to driving in the snow...
guess they had a shut down on I15 south of SLC yesterday started the night before a tanker and car oil spelt and freeway closed for 12 hours hurt some of those in the morning commute as well what a mess
most of our stuff is delivered to the post office even if it would normally come to the house... I did get the hose for my oxygen delivered to the house it comes by UPS I guess.. I wonder if the reason we have so much issue with porch pirates is because they did away with the need for signatures...? I had given my sister a quilt few years ago (a homemade one) it needed something repaired and a neighbor was able to do it... she dropped it off at my sister's and before they realized it was there it was gone... just sad that people think they can take what they want and usually get away with it..
just saw a movie advertised for Hallmark called Twas the Night before Christmas I think but it will be on next Saturday. it sounds intriguing. but mom's tv doesn't know that channel...and the movie on movies and mysteries sounds great as well...
you all have a great day

It was Shop with a Cop day here today too. Each child in the program gets a officer assigned and the officer walks around Target with thm, helping them buy gifts for siblings and parent/s. then they each get a visit with Santa and treats. It popped up on Nextdoor here as to why police were at Target!
We had a quiet day inside due to wind and rain.

Thanks for the explanation! I think they could have at least put up a sign by the police cars so people would know why they were there! If I had just been a customer, I would have just turned around and left.

A sign? Really? I think anyone paying attention , here in my area, at least knows or should know. It's been on all 3 local tv news stations. On Facebook , twitter and Nextdoor. Announcements from both PD and Sheriff departments, as well as city websites and city newsletters. If there had truly been an issue, those cars you saw would have has lights on, officers outside store, possibly even crime tape! They would have made it obvious you could not enter the store! No way would you have been allowed inside if there was a problem!

You know, I agree with Barbie, I do think a sign would have been helpful.

I think had I seen all of the commotion driving into the parking lot, I would have just left.

For myself, although I do "pay attention" to local events, I don't have access to any local tv stations.

I live in an area where I can't get over-the-air television reception (my house sits behind a 2-story building that blocks all over-the-air television reception). Since I am not willing to pay $100/mo. +/- to cable or satellite for television reception, I watch all of my television via internet stream via my Comcast connection. Mostly YouTube videos about homesteading (gardening, farming, livestocking), which I find entertaining, probably because it is something that I used to do in my previous life.

I have been banned from Facebook for reasons I have never been able to discover, I don't do Twitter or Nextdoor. As far as I know, my local law enforcement (such as it is) doesn't make announcements, nor am I a regular visitor to local law enforcement websites.

As for crime tape and such - whenever there is any kind of "incident" with lots of police cars and flashing lights, I practice avoidance. I don't try to get close enough to see if there is any yellow crime tape flapping around or not.

But that's just me, I guess.

I know a lot of people will run towards such things to "see what is happening". I'm just the opposite - I turn and run the opposite direction.

When I got to work this morning, there were about 8 squad cars in front of Walmart with their lights flashing! My first thought was a shooting or something! Barbie, had I been you driving into the Walmart parking lot, I would have turned around and left without investigating any further.

Definitely, as you say, "Now days, you just never know!"

I have not failed to miss the fact that there have been several shootings at various Walmarts across the country over the last several weeks. (Google search "Walmart shootings" there have been quite a few of them)

And the first thing Barbie saw were police cars with the lights on. Had I been heading there to shop, like Anne, I wouldn't have. I probably wouldn't have made it into the parking lot.
