Where I am, Willow Beach Marina and Campground, is 36 miles and a one-hour drive to a major grocery store--Walmart in my case today. I needed some batteries for my tire minder and some other things for Christmas, plus I had not gotten things like milk and butter for about 10 days, so I drove out and picked up some stuff. Could not believe how crowded Walmart was, but I got all my stuff for baking and decorating cookies--sprinkles and such, for example. Also picked up a handful of stocking stuffers and things for the hostess gifts i have put together because I will be going to my DILs mother's house and her father's house for Christmas eve and Christmas Day. Will camp nearby.
This is the first morning in three days that I did not get woken up very early by medical people from Atlanta who did not realize I was in the Pacific time zone!! Nice to sleep in without interrupted sleep, but did not sleep in much because I wanted to get an early start, plus I got three calls while I was in Las Vegas doing my shopping. Aunt is eating a bit more, which is good.
Tomorrow I have two loads of laundry to do, so will be working on that. Seems like two loads of laundry, as well as grocery shopping, takes a full day these days. Or maybe I just take longer to do things!!
Been going back over stuff I found on Ancestry to make sure my "finds" were correct. Did fix a few things that were wrong. I have learned NOT to copy stuff from other people's trees because a lot of it is wrong. I make sure I have documentary backup for every fact, and even backup from two sources, if possible. I have gone as far as the 1500s with a few people, but WWII caused records to be destroyed when the churches were destroyed, so hit dead ends with those folks. I even sent an email and ended up getting a response from a vicar in northern Ireland who told me that even the cemetery to one church was destroyed with records and the church itself! And I got my DNA and am beginning to think that with my mother's father's family in Canada, my Scottish GGrandfather might not be related to anybody older because there are no relative matches out of several hundred for other parts of the family. Very strange, and yes, I know he had to be related to someone, but there is just a dead end. Did verify that my "educated" guesses about the Danby Yorkshire folks were absolutely correct, however. Found genetic matches going back to 3rd and 4th gggrandparents, so happy with that.
Amazing that some of you are dealing with hot weather and others with SNOW!!!
