Foggy Monday In The Desert

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Mornin' ladies~~~ Thought I'd keep Barbie's desert forecast going. :P

Laundry day this morning. Not a whole lot new with me. Had some Grand Design friends stop by yesterday to see the Airstream and got a lesson on convection cooking. I still need to finish reading the manuals.

But until the truck goes in for repair, I can revisit some sightseeing places here in Tucson. Went to the mission on Saturday to find the hidden cat and mouse figures on the facade, but had to look at the article again to actually find them. I thought they were in the mission.

That's it from Foggy Tucson. Have a good day ladies.

Yea, I can bring my motorhome to the shop on the 14th. I might actually have it back before Christmas.

I'm back to summer clothes. It's suppose to be 80 Wednesday and there is only a 20% chance of rain all week. I was going to pick up Sugar's medicine at Walmart yesterday but after my problem I wasn't going anywhere but home. She will be out by in the morning so I have to go get it. Tomorrow Charlie has an appointment at the vet and Wednesday I have an appointment to get the oil changed in the truck. Tomorrow night is the cattle women Christmas party and we are suppose to bring food to donate to the local food bank. Maybe I can make it to Walmart with my grocery list this time.

This morning when Sugar went out she was messing around under the porch so I went to see what she was doing. She caught a mouse and took it out on the grass. She had one of her spells because she got excited so I grabbed the mouse and threw it over the fence or she would have eaten it.

Cheryl, I haven't tried to master convection cooking in this motorhome. I hope you got a better manual than came with mine. The one in the old motorhome was a nice book. I had a convection microwave when they first came out and I cooked in it all the time. I know it's possible.

Good morning, Martha.

LOL, I always enjoy your stories, especially those about your Sugar. Thank you. I often think how fortunate you both were to have found one another.

It is surprising what does will eat (or try to eat). I had a friend tell me once that dogs look at it like this: "Eat it now, if it doesn't work out I can always bring it back up later". :?

One spring, I was out in the back yard with my sweet Joe. I knew that there were birds nesting in my trees, with babies getting ready to fledge. All of a sudden I heard a bird screeching like I had never heard before. I looked up just in time to see a young bird come out of the tree, struggling to fly, about 5 or 6 feet off the ground, heading right for Joe. Unfortunately, Joe saw it too, and leaped straight up in the air, grabbed it, and it was gone in one chomp (much to the dismay of the mother bird, who continued to screech).

I felt really bad for both mother and baby bird, with not a little concern for Joe (having consumed an entire bird in one gulp). But there was nothing I could do, what was done was done. I did not reprimand Joe - he was just being a dog, doing what dogs do. :(

After several more minutes, the poor mother bird returned to the tree. Joe never had any ill effects for his impromptu meal, thank goodness.

Good morning Cheryl and all. Looking like one more sunny day before the rain moves in again for most of the week. I picked up branches from the trees from wind the last few days when I was out with the pup. I took him to the vaccination clinic late yesterday and we started from the beginning. Apparently since no real records were kept by the puppy parents they wanted to start over. I don’t have a problem with that as long as it doesn’t affect him which it doesn’t seem to have. The vet did a quick assessment of his health and he noticed his weeping eyes. He gave it a name which I don’t remember but basically it’s that his eyelashes are turned in instead of out and they are rubbing on his eyeballs. Said it was a fairly easy fix and it could be done when he is put under for his neutering. Which is in about another 3 months. Hate to traumatize him right now until he gets more used to me. I’ll see what my vet says. Oh, and he weighed in at 31 lbs! So much for getting a small dog! Thank you all for your well wishes on my new family member! BJ, I did order a playpen for Buddy to try to contain him some. He was supposed to be crate trained but so far he doesn’t seem to be a fan. I’ll bet he was in it with litter mates vs being alone. Geez, puppy seems to be my main topic of conversation now!! It’s amazing to me how much more alive the house is having another living creature here. Saturday when I went out for food for him he got sick but yesterday he was fine. He’d never been in a car before. I need to do some more outside work today to take advantage of the nice day. Wonder if I can train Buddy to pick up branches and twigs off the driveway and put them in a pile instead of chewing on them!! So that’s my news for now. I’ve never posted pictures so need to go back and try to figure out how to do it! Another project for a winter day!! Have a wonderful day, stay healthy and stay safe on the road!

It is still morning here and cloudy, I have an acupuncture appointment this afternoon and I am looking forward to a nice nap while on the table. The stories about Martha and Anne's dog made me think of the time we had fighting chickens someone left in our barn. They had babies that we put up in a stall but one day they got out. I told my Irish Setter who was trained to hunt to go get them. She did but she was not happy, She stomped out into the field and brought them back one by one. Each time she would spit them into my hand, glare at me and go get another one.
Martha I hope you get your motor home back faster this time. Sharon sounds as though you have a good vet some don't notice the turned in eyelashes, or eye lids that have tiny bumps behind them. Enjoy!

Cheryl it is foggy here in the hills of Oregon also. Also cold 35 degrees. High of 48 maybe.
I had a convection oven in my RV also. Tried it before I read the instructions LOL you would think I hade a male gene or two. But the biggest trick is to preheat your oven. Then set your temp and cook for whatever time needed. Really easy peasy.

Going to start my spring cleaning. Going to clean my blinds and then when it warms up will wash the windows outside. They really need it so the sunshine tells me. I have to remember to have one project a day, big or small but at least get something accomplished. Also need to make a run to the grocery store this week for fresh veggies and fruit. And of course a few other things that jump in my basket.

Sharon sounds like you and the pup are getting along well. They are the best of company for sure. I dont remember or I missed it what did you end up naming him?

It's called entropion. I only remember this name because I was a big fan of the James Herriot veterinary stories. One of the stories in one of his books was about a dog that he treated for this. Quick surgery fixed the problem.

It may have been "All Creatures Great and Small", but I don't remember for sure.

Give your new guy a pat from me. I truly do love dogs.

Can't wait for photos!! 8-) :D

I think that's Sugar's plan but it doesn't always work out. She ate a rotten dead bird and got so sick she had to go to the vet. The cats are always leaving half eaten dead birds or rats in the yard. Sugar will try to eat the birds, feathers and all. She discovered crawfish shells and she looks for them on every walk. When crawfish grow they discard their old shell and that's what she is looking for. She will also eat a live crawfish if she can find one. She keeps me moving.

Love the story of the retriever returning the baby chickens. Long ago, I had a schnauzer that I had trained very well. One day, at our cottage, an adult robin flew over her at about 3' high. She jumped up and caught it in her mouth. I was watching and yelled the command "Spit it out!" and she did. The bird was not injured and flew off.

That was the only bird she had ever caught, but she once was really sick all one weekend--vomiting and bloody diarrhea. We were about ready to find a vet, until we discovered that each time we had put her out, she had been scavenging the remains of a rotten chicken my dad had thrown in the trash. That weekend proved just how dumb dogs can be with what they eat!! Not only had she eaten parts of the chicken once and thrown up, but had done it over and over during two days!! My experience and bias for cats says they are a little smarter about what they eat, but then again, cats will go places and get stuck, which dogs do not often do. My son's cat likes to get a drink from the swimming pool and has several times fallen in. They can tell when he comes into the house dripping wet. He also fell out of a tree once.

My aunt is doing better and ate substantial meals today. She is back at the dementia facility, but had eaten almost nothing over the past three weeks she had the flu and then pneumonia. One funny story--I had talked to the "palliative care" doctor a day before she was sent home from the hospital The doctor was trying to get me to call hospice because my aunt was so confused. She wrote in her notes that her confusion was eviident because she had asked her several questions and to each question my aunt would only respond "No," no matter what she had asked her. I chuckled at that because the truth is that my aunt can be difficult, and that was her way of refusing to answer someone she did not like!!

Another long busy day. Worked with another part-time stylist from another shop which was nice. Neither of us can figure out why the new girl hasn't been fired yet. I told both managers today that I will not work alone if/when she doesn't show up on Wednesday. I looked at the new schedule and they have me working with her next Saturday, Monday and Thursday! I can't believe they still have her on the schedule! Are they trying to drive me insane? I am so stressed out already and then with this whole thing!

Gonna get to bed early tonight. Have putters in the morning and then more housework and laundry, and finish getting my bike cleaned up and ready to sell.

Nothing happening with the house yet. My agent says things are slow until after Christmas. I did a haircut on a guy today who lives here in the park. He knows a lot of people here and I told him about my place being for sale, so hopefully he can spread the word too. He used to own about 5 park models here and rented them out. He sold them all but two last year, including one just two houses away from me.

My back hurts tonight (after 17 haircuts! :o ) so the heating pad is coming out soon! Sounds really windy out tonight! Keeping the windows shut.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I more or less over slept it's that snooze part right??? however because we were going to go to the restaurant before the drs appointment so I didn't need to get up and fix breakfast so didn't get up either... when I was aware of the deck being shoveled decided that perhaps I ought to get up... we went to Chinatown planning an in and out being pretty quick... I have never seen it that busy... we had to wait for quite a bit and then it took time to get the food which again isn't normal... we actually got to the drs office a bit late... however it meant that by the time we got inside the person he was seeing was leaving and we didn't even have to sit down... he is a old time dr even draws the blood ... I do wish he had done a urine sample but he didn't ... he weighed her said she is still over 100 but just barely and that was with her coat on... I think he just marvels that she is still around... I am so glad that I had help with mom at the drs. office... had to wade through snow to get to the sidewalk and then up the stairs... really appreciate their help
then home and read scriptures... finally remembered to try the number that Beth gave me for Boomers ??? to see about supplemental insurance I finally left my name and message at that point I was 42 in line... they still haven't called back perhaps tomorrow hope not to early as I might not hear them if they do...
while doing so I worked on my Swedish Weave...
so now I've rambled on about my day I need to try and remember about what you all said...
oh I know ... Sharon what I do is when I want a picture posted I text it to Beth  never have gotten the hang of it...
dogs do add to the liveliness of a home. I was fortunate in that Shadow didn't try to gobble stuff up or it may have been me he was never off leash except in a yard that was fenced in then I worried that he would get somewhere that he shouldn't ...
I am sorry Barbie that you are working with such a slacker... it's hard to work with someone not dependable
It's hard to believe that you can get your motor home fixed and back in that time... or your truck fixed soon as I understand it my sister still is waiting for her car to be looked at to see if it's repairable... and it happened over a month ago... don't get sick in Vegas or in a car accident
you all have a great day

In 'N Out here is never 'in and out'! The drive-thru lines are always at least a block or two long. I don't go there since I am not a big fan of their food and I don't want to wait that long for any food. The last time I went there to order inside, there wasn't even standing room to wait the 15 minutes for my order after standing in line for 10+ to place my order. I much prefer Burger King just down the street. That place I can get in and out in 5 minutes!
