Saturday December 3

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday December 3

Strange weather we’re having…a couple of days of low temps and horrible wind and today it’s off and on rain with temps in the low 50’s! My big news is that I got a puppy yesterday! A friend of my son’s friend had him. He’s 11 weeks and is chewing everything! He was raised in a home with 3 small children so he’s going to have to get used to a quieter home. He is sorta house broken and I need to learn his “tell” that he needs to go out. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a baby in the house! He’s part labradoodle and I’m not sure what the other dog is! Luckily he’s smooth coated more like a lab. He’s larger then what I said I should have but it’ll work out. Plus I was not going to get a dog until spring but here I am! A change for me and him! Glad I didn’t get rid of all the dog toys and other stuff! So otherwise not much going on here. Just watching the puppy and the rain coming down a along with strong winds! Hope you each have a good day wherever or whatever you’re doing today.

Congratulations Sharon. Here is a toast to finding safe and allowable chewy things, training and environmental engineering for the rest. Between training, socializing and watching puppy grow that will definitely fill your winter months with a few good books and some nice naps built in.....

We have sun but it is only 39. I am happy for the sun because as long as I am inside I can pretend it is warm outside. I didn't watch the movie filmed where Anita lives. I usually read rather than watch a movie the endless commercials are too annoying. Watching Shark Tank is about the extent of my attention span.

Sharon congratulations on your new puppy! This is how I kept on track of Emma. I put an oil cloth cover down to protect the floor. I don't like to go outside in the middle of the night with a puppy. I paper train all my dogs but they seldom go inside unless they have an emergency like a UTI. The exception is Pippa who is too small to go outside, the owls or hawks would have her in a heartbeat.

Congratulations to you and the puppy Sharon. Does he have a name yet? Can you post some pictures? We always love a puppy!

I trained each of my dogs that I got as small puppies to go on newspapers in the garage in addition to going outside when that was possible. In the beginning it required going to the garage whenever I thought it was time. Each learned very quickly and having the garage available when it’s raining works well. Have fun!

Congrats to Sharon on the new puppy and to Tina for the soon to arrive!

BJ, the only time I have to watch commercials is during sport broadcasts. I can record everything and then fast forward through commercials.

While the story wasn't great, the movie did show the real Leavenworth which is not common with these movies. Pooker, two films previously made here are 'All I Want for Christmas' (2012 I think) and 'Somebody I Used to Know'. The latter may not even be out and it in Amazon Prime. I tried to watch the first one last year and last maybe 10 minutes.

Got up to watch Kansas State Championship football game - half time right now. Beautiful day with blue sky and sun. A little more snow overnight. 18 degrees.

Have a good day everyone!

Beth, my freezer looks very much like yours, but my refrigerator is much more full. If I want to put something in it, I have to take out a coke or something that really does not need to be in there!!

And, Sharon, I agree that fall is an awful time to have a puppy. About 40 years ago, my then-husband and I moved into a brand-new house, meaning it had sidewalks but no grass yet, in November, so we foolishly went out and got a puppy. It kept falling off the sidewalk into puddles and walked around in the mud, so every time she went out and came in, we had to wash her feet! Next time, we got a puppy in the late spring when the grass had grown in and it was a little dryer.

Still no internet here and I can't get news about when it will be fixed, so I am back in the scenic rest area down the road.

I disagree. Any time is a good time to get a puppy - especially if that puppy somehow finds us, comes to us, and he needs us more than we need him (or her).

Old truism: "You don't get the dog [or puppy] that you want, you get the dog that you need [whether you know it or not]".

Here is another quote, spoken by an old friend from long ago that used to train GSD's for police work (this man loved dogs like he loved his own soul): "Always remember: dog is just God spelled backwards".

Congratulations, Sharon, on your new Best Friend. May you both have many gloriously happy and amazing adventures together, through out the coming years.

Anne, so well said. Sharon, congrats on your new family member. I agree that we need pictures. Sharon, really watch the coat carefully. Those dogs can need more grooming than most. Get that puppy used to being brushed right away!

I thought I was east of the rain and stopped for lunch and potty breaks for the two of us. Ha. I had lunch and pottied, but the rain came back and Ty is waiting patiently for his turn. Turning into a long break, but I'm less than an hour from my destination so no hurry!

Sharon how fun to get a new puppy. I got Emma soon after I lost my old dog, I was so lonesome. She gives me purpose and is excellent company. Emma is my first puppy ever. I had lots of advice from my Tibetan Spaniel group. Some good, some silly. She will be 6 this January, so we both survived. I struggled a bit with potty training but once she got it she hasnt had an accident since.
Been busy this morning. Vacuumed and shampooed my bedroom today. Wanted to go in and sort more of the stuff in my drawers and closet but need to let the carpet dry first. Had the last of my lasagna for lunch and will just have a light dinner. Right now going to finish that movie and have my Peppermint Mocha. Was going to go to the store then realized itis the weekend AND everyone just got paid so will wait until this week.
Beth that is a very full fridge and freezer LOL My big freezer is pretty full but I can still close the door so still have room LOL I have lots of choices in there for sure.

Congrats on the new puppy Sharon! Yes, we do need more details like her name and pictures. ;)

A lay low kind of weekend here in Tucson. They predicted rain, which they haven't had any months, so I did my part and got the truck washed yesterday, and Voila! It's raining off and on. :D

So I'm being a good new Airstream owner and reading the manuals this weekend. Not much I didn't already know, but one of their suggestions is using Pledge on the inside stainless steel. Who knew?!?

That's it from currently not sunny Tucson. Have a good evening ladies.

we had a beautiful sunny cold day!!! went to the store and the car thermostat registered 12 I guess the positive part is it wasn't -12 ... my feet were so cold!!! will be glad when my boots come... hopefully I ordered the correct size or had my niece order the right size... guess we will see... it's now -3 not going the right direction... tomorrow though it's suppose to warm up and maybe snow we will see...
I remember years ago my step father was still alive I think he died in 1989 so it was a long time ago :o and this movie came out and I told Matt that it was really good no sex no violence no something else can't remember what else and he said something to the what's in it??? but it was a really good movie one that I still watch whenever I have the chance...I think mom has said that she likes Hallmark because of the cleaness of the movies...
you sure know how to pack a fridge Beth... get more in yours than I even did in mine...
how fun Sharon a new puppy I got Shadow in Nov... I think or possibly Dec.. I know it was in the fall time after I went to Q as I got him in Vegas.. but he was a least 4 yrs old or so they told me other's said he was older and other's said younger... who knows... so I didn't have the new puppy to train I'm not sure that I could do that.. but look forward to seeing pictures of her... my dd family has a labordoodle I think that is all Koda is and they do need grooming more than Koda gets... I always wondered what Shadow was other than long haired dachshund Kerry told me one day that she figured it out actually saw one that looked just like Shadow but now I don't remember the breed it was a Danish dog that was breed to ferret out the rats on a ship... I am sure that you will so enjoy your new pup
picked up mexican dish from the deli can't ever remember how to spell it or even get close to the spelling but it was chicken and the rest starts with a F usually served on a very hot platter at least in the restaurant
it is... actually wasn't too bed....
I saw a recipe the other day that I want to try actually think if the jalapeno's are still good have everything for it now just to find some one to share it with... it was a jalapeno popper but instead of stuffing the pepper you chop them mix them with cheeses and roll in panko and air fry I'm sure there was more with it but those where the main ingredients...
tore out a recipe for butternut squash soup that looked good think I may have all the ingredients for it as well maybe but I am wondering if fresh ginger could be put in it... it just sounds like it could be..
you all have a good day
