Windy Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Windy Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Nov 30, 2022 9:30 am

Good morning. Cloudy with a bit of very light snow, but it is very windy. Our temperatures have nosedived from the mid 40s down to 28° in the past six hours. Winds are supposed to gust as high as 45 to 50 mph today. And the lake effect is going to start up later this afternoon. So it might get kind of nasty out there. November is known for its winds, and we have been having them this month. Could possibly be some power outages too, but I’m not gonna worry about that. The generator is sitting out there on standby all the time. Nice security blanket.

I decided yesterday to take a ride to Petoskey and get my Hobby Lobby fix  , before the weather gets bad. Wanted to get some more of the varnish that I use for my crafts and also some more different color craft paints. So I should be good for the winter probably. I am all done with Christmas decorations, so now I will work on some other things that need to be repainted, make some yard birds for a neighbor, and a couple Winter yard fence peekers like I have out at the entrance right now (Santa and the Reindeer) etc. Tbese are things that will keep me busy through the winter. Also I want to repaint my one bedroom and maybe my office. But first thing today is going to be a little bit of house cleaning.

Barbie, I agree with the others about the alternator. A fuel pump won’t kill a battery. The click, click is an indicator right there. A bad fuel pump may keep the vehicle from starting, but the battery will be trying to start it. Martha and Beth I hope you to get your vehicles straightened out.Usually a change oil light comes on when the vehicle senses that the oil life is going, not necessarily the oil level. Beth yours might be due to a dirty air filter or something because you are in a desert area where sand and stuff blows around.

Time for me to get dressed and get busy with my house work. I put a load of laundry in the washer while I was making breakfast and now it needs to go on the dryer. That’s the nice thing I like about having my washer off the kitchen. I can throw stuff in there when I get up and let it wash while I’m having breakfast and kill two birds with one stone.

Thought I would share my Christmas decorations that I finally got out on my garage. And I take no credit for that reindeer. Bought it at the Shipshewana on the road show when they were here. Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning Sue and everyone else!

Got up early this morning to go to the clubhouse and sign up for the Christmas dinner. I missed out on the Thanksgiving dinner because they sold out before I got there. Wasn't gonna let that happen today! So I got a ticket and the gal in charge of the Putters league put me with her and her hubby at their table so that should be a fun table to be at. It was so cold this morning (relatively speaking, of course!) and I was so glad they weren't having us wait outside to get the tickets. Normally the doors aren't open until 8am. But they opened the doors early and we got to all wait in the lobby by the lit fireplace that was all decorated for Christmas. So that was much more comfortable than standing outside! Luckily, the clubhouse isn't far from me so I didn't have to walk too far. Now I am back in bed all cozy!

I got another message that the ebike is now lost. Also saw a lot of new comments on Amazon, that quite a few other people haven't gotten their bikes either. So I called Amazon this morning for a refund. The cargo hitch rack I ordered, I tried to cancel but it was already shipped so I will have to refuse it when it gets here. Now I will have to find a bike rack that hopefully will work with my current bike without too much of a problem with lifting it onto.

My eyes are really puffy and itchy this morning. Must be an allergy to something. :?

I was told this morning while waiting for my ticket that I won some money from last week's putters league. I know I did pretty well so will have to see how much I won. With so many ladies playing now, the kitty is loaded. :D

The mechanic said he will do a test for the fuel pump first. I am sure they know how to check to be sure what exactly is wrong before working on it.

Today will be housecleaning day.

Enjoy your day and stay warm!

Morning Sue and All, raining and windy here too. Should have checked the forecast for today before placing curbside order. The rain let up some wasn’t too bad but then I just had to sit in the car. Lol I finally figured how to change the time on the Subaru clock AGAIN. I go through this twice a year. Why would they make you program a time change. What’s wrong with turning a knob.. Sue, I am jealous, I would like to pack a lunch and spend the day at Hobby Lobby. Don’t want to buy anything, just look. Lol. Love you Christmas decorations. The generator has to be a great comfort with your winter weather. Spaghetti for dinner tonight and a nice salad. Be safe

Just got a call from the mechanic. Ugh!!! Why do these things happen with everything??? He said he went to start it this morning and it started right up. He drove it around for a bit and turned it off and then started it. No problem! I am getting so frustrated with all these things going wrong but when I try to get them fixed, they work perfectly!

He is gonna let it sit for awhile and try it again...

My sweet Mandy (A1Savannah's Miss Mandy Marie) died last night at 11:12 pm at the age of 17 years 9 1/2 months. I'm hurting deeply right now but will be back with you soon. We are all grieving, including her sister, Stormy.

Cold, windy and rainy here also this morning. Even the dog wont dilly dally outside LOL I dont know what is on my agenda for today yet. Need to finish cleaning out my walk in closet, then deliver the stuff to the donation center later this week. Also get rid of my cardboard pretty soon, it is piling up.

Not sure what to have for dinner tonight but I have some Brussels sprouts left to roast so will find something to go with them. I need to make some soup later this week as I am thinking it is soup weather. Beth I didnt make my cookie last night but will make it today to have with my Mocha. Will let you know if it is a keeper or not. Velda so sorry to hear about your Mandy cat passing. I know how much you will miss her. Barbie dont ya just hate when things wont misbehave when they need to. I think they can check your alternator also and of course your battery. I sure hope you get it fixed tho. Glad you got a ticket and get to sit with some friends. Hopefully you won a windfall LOL Shirl I am lucky my car's time is very easy to set, I dont even need the manual LOL I ordered a couple of cabin filters for my car as I have not had mine changed since after the fire in 2020, so it is time. Always something.

Barbie. . . just sayin' (and a knowledgeable mechanic would know this) a stressed battery (one that is being discharged too much because. . . the alternator/generator is not supplying it with enough "charge" (electricity) for one reason or another, the battery will often (especially a newer battery) gather a bit of charge while sitting unused for some few hours (like overnight, maybe. . .) . . enough charge to start the engine maybe once but then will be discharged again.

I'm still voting for a alternator/generator problem.

"The alternator doesn’t provide the power to start the vehicle – that’s actually the job of the battery. It does, however, charge the battery as the vehicle is running. If the battery can’t be charged, the car won’t start."

I am so glad I decided to make a long reservation here at Willow Beach this year. I have stayed a few days in the past, but this time, it will be a full two weeks. A lot of campers have checked out, but more will be arriving tonight as this place is almost always full. I love the views and the incredible quiet. We are three miles from the highway, and you can hear only the wind, except no wind today but lots of sun. If you look at the website, cost is $70 per night for these full hookup sites, but the cost for people with a senior card is only $35, which is much more reasonable for a place that is relatively new with cement pads and asphalt driveways and roads.

Got my hummingbird feeder on the window and am waiting for them to find it. I had to move from a different site this morning, but they are buzzing around like crazy, so they will find it soon. I can sit in my chair and watch them. Yesterday when I was outside, they were so brazen that they were buzzing me about 2 feet away from me. Sat on the feeder and just looked at me.

Aunt is still in hospital but I am using internet calling, which I had never done before. Works fairly well, but I noticed that I cannot have several computer windows open at once while calling or I get cut off. I can handle that. Going to drive into Las Vegas tomorrow to get a propane fill and pick up my bike. Will go for a longer walk along the wetland trails.

{{{hugs}}}} Velda! So sorry about losing your Mandy! She lived a good long life but it is almost harder to lose them at an older age since you have been with her so long. I had Lola for 13 years so it was a huge void in my life when she passed. Keep your memories of her close in your heart!

Sorry about Mandy, Velda. Losing a pet is so hard. Barbie, the mechanic might have made a good guess, but I'm glad he's doing some testing first! I know it's frustrating. I left Washington with a 'repaired' air conditioner in the truck. It leaked. Took it to a place in California and it still leaked. Finally went to a dealer in Arizona and guy at the service desk immediately knew what was wrong! Now why couldn't the others have figured that out!? Such cute decorations, Sue.

We had a lot of snow overnight and I wore myself out getting most of it off the car. Not going anywhere, but I learned my lesson last year about letting it pile up. I didn't measure, but I'm sure there is at least 6 inches. Think it's time for more coffee!

So sorry Velda. You and Mandy had a long time together but it's never easy when they leave us.
