Good Morning!

Beautiful, sunny morning! Possibly a little snow on the way overnight.

Happy, happy news the annoying family is moving out! Woohoo! Of course, the next neighbors may not be much better - always a gamble.

Thanksgiving was way too much food as always. Monica wanted to fill my plate so half of that plus leftovers came home with me. I have learned to like the green bean casserole over the years. I bought all the items for it, but Monica put it together. I bought French cut beans and she used regular which I don't like.

Barbie, Leavenworth is truly a wonderland. Even if people don't like Lifetime movies, they should just mute the sound to see the scenery during the upcoming one. Kids got tickets for the Reindeer Farm this evening so I'm looking forward to that.

My brother isn't allowed to work until they get around to doing the surgery. Angiogram scheduled for the 8th of December. He works for a locally owned trucking company in Port Angeles. They had their annual party and some of those awarded paid days off for good performance, etc. donated the days to my brother. I think it's 319 hours.

I don't know what time it started raining but it has just moved off to the East. It's 70 degrees. I'm glad it's not cold. I went out to bring the trash bin in and went to look at the rain gauge. We got another 2 inches. Now I have some wet shoes. Do I ever think to put on rubber boots, NO.

I looked out the back door earlier and the standing water behind my house was full of brown and white birds. At first I thought they were Egrets but I have never seen a brown Egret. I looked them up on the computer and they were Ibis. I don't know what they were eating but they were having a feast. Probably crawfish.

I had Thanksgiving food again for lunch. I like the green bean casserole ok but it's a lot for one person. I guess I could make a half recipe. I like the onion topping. I don't like raw onions in anything but like cooked onions. You get a funny look when you order a hamburger with no onions and onion rings. lol Tomorrow is the Hospice Dine Around(lunch once a month). We are going to the restaurant at Vermilionville. They don't have a big menu but I'm not ordering anything close to Thanksgiving food.

Anita, it was so nice that your brother's co-workers donated their hours to him. Hope his surgery goes well.

Anita, I also like green bean casserole and also much prefer it with the French style green beans. Funny how different that makes the flavor. And wow, how wonderful that so many from your brother's company have donated their time off to him. Sounds like it's a good place and people. Fingers crossed that you get better neighbors.

The owners of the motel, both separately, have tried to contact me the past couple days. I tried to call each back today and got their voicemails. I think it's time to let them know I won't be returning. This will be an uncomfortable conversation but I honestly told them before leaving that it was a possibility.

Martha, very cool that you have ibis in your yard. I had left over apple pie from Thanksgiving dinner for breakfast. Yum. I'm particular about apple pie and there were twoat the dinner. One yuck. And then this one close to perfect (to me). Luckily there was some left and I was offered a piece to go.

Afternoon All, it’s sunny and pleasant. Anita I’m having a pity party. I’ve been dealing with a tenant above me with a yipping dog who does not like being alone. When he is unhappy you know it. She has hung a bird feeder on her deck and the bird droppings fall on my balcony and on plants. I ask management if it was allowed and they said yes. I had ordered a cute Solar snowman and a solar lantern which I am returning. The balcony is a mess from bird droppings and I’m not dealing with a crummy looking snowman. I won’t decorate the balcony for the holidays. This mood will pass but I am not finished being mad yet. Lol I love green bean casserole but never fix it for just me. I don’t like eating the same thing for several days. Will fry a couple soft crabs and roast Brussel sprouts for dinner. Think I need ice cream too. Be safe

Anita, forgot to mention how great that coworkers are donating hours for your brother. It restores our faith in the American way. Too bad these events don’t make the headlines.

Good afternoon, barely. Nothing much doing around here today. Cloudy, cool and damp out but not super foggy so that is a plus. I didnt bring any leftovers home with me, as I only like turkey once or twice but that turkey was pretty dry. Was okay with the gravy but I like mine better. Oh I did bring some fruit salad home that Mary made and the rest of my salad which wasnt much because everyone liked it.

Anita I have only been to Leavenworth once and I loved that town, we came during December so got to see the lights and decorations. Remind us when that movie is on or at least the name of it if you know it. Hoping good thoughts for your brother to get better soon. When I was working as a staff nurse we got vacation and every once in a while someone would have an issue in their family and we all donated a few days of our PTO (paid time off) and it would help them alot. Oregon just passed a law on the books for Paid Leave up to 12 weeks, for medical or personal. Starts in January but nobody will get any money for a few months until the fund builds up....crazy Now that will be additional tax for employees and employers. I can see the gold bricking now. California has something like that because when I worked down there they took it out of my paycheck. One of the travel nurses broke her ankle and got paid while she was off a percentage of her wages.

I found some scallops in the freezer so will be having scallops and brussels sprouts for dinner. Will roast the sprouts in the Air Fryer so good that way, just a tad crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Right now I am pondering lunch LOL

I forgot to mention earlier that schools here have had over 20% absent due to the flu so they are wearing masks again.

Shirl, I would be livid about the bird poop and the barking dog! Beth, I hope the conversation won't be as awkward as you fear.

Karen, movie on Lifetime December 2, 8 p.m. our time. Cloudy with a Chance of Christmas. I've been finding movies with more of a plot - may have mostly been on the new Great American Christmas channel. I find I turn the 'usual' ones off.

People donating their hours to my brother was actually a bit of a surprise to me. He is a self-proclaimed a-hole, but I guess they see right through him. Washington apparently has the medical leave program, too. I just pray he doesn't have a heart attack while waiting for appointments!

I just caught up on reading the last week’s posts. Had an unfortunate accident while walking my pups last Tuesday. Somehow I guess I tripped on the sidewalk and went down face first. Last thing I remember was walking. The next thing I knew I was face down and trying to get up. I still had hold of the leash for the dogs and thankfully we were only half a block from home. I had a cut going from my left eyebrow and then down vertically along the side of my left eye in addition to a cut on my left hand. Went to Kaiser urgent care and they did a thorough job. Because I’m on blood thinners, they did a CT scan along with X-rays of my hip and elbow which were badly bruised. So I left with 12 stitches to close everything up. I’m on the 4th day out since it happened and am amazed at how sore I am. In addition, a huge bruise now extends down the whole left side of my face and is beginning to turn blue and yellow. Needless to say I haven’t been out much except to let the dogs do their business. I think all the muscles in my back got stretched or something because it’s very sore too. Stitches come out on Tuesday.

Anita, so nice to hear how your brother’s co-workers chipped in to help him. I pray all goes well for him. Also, I sure would love to see Leavenworth someday during winter. Must be a wonderland.

Shirl, I too would be very upset with your neighbor above and the mess the birds make on your deck. Can you complain again to management? You obviously pay to live there and unsanitary conditions caused by the person above should be dealt with by management so you don’t have to deal with the mess they’re causing for you. Maybe you could complain to the Health Department.

Beth, glad you’ve made the decision to not return to the job next year. I’m sure the owners will be upset, but undoubtably they’ve been through it before. Part of running a business.

Oh Sandi I am so sorry you took a tumble. It is true what they say we just dont bounce like we used to. But glad nothing was broken. Now you just have to give it some time to heal.

Anita thanks, I put it on my calendar and will also record it in case something comes up. I like some of the Hallmark movies but I like Great American Family channel much better most of the time. Right now I am catching up on all my weekly recorded series shows. I deleted some of them after they started because they were not to my liking LOL Some of the others are pretty good tho. I am a long time watcher of some of the shows and now have watched a couple of the new ones that came out last fall. They will all be over soon tho and we never know if they are coming back or not. Actually most of the shows I end up liking always get cancelled before another season. Oh well, then I just move on. With streaming I dont lack for shows to watch ever.

Sandy, I'm so sorry you took a tumble. Glad you still had a hold on the dogs! Pray you heal quickly. Try some Arnica gel on bruises- it really reduces healing time.
All quiet here. Have been ordering a few things, but have no interest in going out shopping, except maybe Costco next week.
I'll see if that movie will be on any of our Roku or Netflix we have.
I love green bean casserole but the soup has wheat gluten, so I've learned to make a low carb, no gluten version which I like.

I personally think the green bean casserole is over rated... it wasn't a side in our normal Thanksgiving or Christmas dinners... I just never had made it nor planned on doing so... although I think I saw a recipe made from scratch for it including the soup but it's been awhile since I've looked at it...
Anita that is so neat that they donated hours for your brother... hope the surgery goes well...

the station that you were talking about has gotten a lot of actors and actress from Hallmark
we don't get it that I know of but see mom's cable is unique she gets two stations one that has news and Jeopardy and wheel of fortune... and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries...
we had a bit of snow today when I first got up and suppose to have a winter storm tomorrow and Monday we will see...
I am tempted to get a chrome not sure why but it would be fun to have something a bit bigger than my cell for some things...
Next time I got to see youngest and I am going to go through Levenworth Anita I have wanted to see the town for years and now that you are there then I should get to..
Sandi that is just scary.... so glad that you kept hold of the leashes and that you will heal... 12 stitches is a lot my dd somehow fell off the ramp and has a big bruise I ought to tell her about the stuff that Velda mentioned....
My family was in a car accident 49 years ago it's so long ago and yet seems like it was just yesterday... It sometimes makes you wonder what a difference it would have made if it hadn't happened... my dad and my youngest sister were killed in it... so lots and lots of changes...

I had to laugh at this because I know exactly what you are talking about! When I go to Burger King, I order a Whopper Jr with no onions and then order the onion rings. I figure they must think I am nuts!! I generally don't like onions cooked or raw (and they generally don't like me either) but their onion rings are an exception. Love them!

Sandi, so glad you weren't hurt worse! My neighbor fell down her deck stairs last month and got really banged up but nothing broken. She was lucky too. I have heard that when you first get a bruise, to put ice on it to shrink the blood vessels so it doesn't look so bad, but after a few days, to use heat to open them up more to release the blood that is there. Seems to work for me.

Shirl, could you put up a piece of plastic or something on the "roof" of your deck to block the bird doodoo, etc from coming down? Have you talked to the woman up there about it? Maybe she hadn't thought about it going down to your deck.

Anita, In CA we accrue up to 2 weeks paid sick time per year from the state based on the hours we work, which is nice. I have never gotten sick pay from any Great Clips in other states.

Speaking of work, today it was me and my new manager and a new gal starting today. Someone really messed things up with her, not getting her set up in the system and telling her she was just going to be training (on-line) today. Well, after my manager made a lot of phone calls, he finally told her she needed to go home and get her equipment because she was actually scheduled to work doing haircuts today (duh! I was scheduled to leave at 2 so someone had to work from 2-6 in my place). So she left at noon and by 1:30 we figured she wasn't coming back, which meant I would be expected to stay until 6! Well, luckily she came back just before 2. In the meantime, my manager went to lunch at 1:30 for his hour lunch. I told him he better be back in half an hour since I was planning to leave at 2:00. Then we got busy and I was the only one cutting until almost 3:00! Geeze! I finally got out of there at 3. Whew! That place is so unorganized and the new manager is so overwhelmed and running around like a chicken... . I can't wait to get out of there.

Went shopping for a small Christmas tree after work. Found one at WM (2 ft) and a few decorations for it and then stopped at Hobby Lobby and ended up getting a different tree with other decorations. Now I need to decide which tree I want to keep, and return the other one. I like them both and they are very different from each other. Decisions, decisions! Not sure yet where I will put it so Romeow can't get to it. Maybe on the roof?

Sandi - I'm so sorry about your fall. And I understand exactly how you feel. Just as the pandemic started I went on a senior's bus tour. They stopped for lunch break at a Burger King the first day and I was the last one to walk in. Tripped over those darn yellow bubble ramps (which I don't think help any handicapped person anyway) and fell face first on to the cement. Restaurant employees were not helpful at all, but one of the other passengers had a zip lock baggie for her snacks and I got ice from the soda machine. I didn't break any bones either, but the awful bruise down my face was a mess and one arm, shoulder, etc. were sore for weeks. First day of a 5 day tour! Good thing most of us had started wearing masks, but you could still see the purple and black that extended beyond my mask. The whole trip I had people coming up to me and asking how I was doing. I ran into that busload of fellow travelers everywhere!

Hang in - it takes a long time to completely heal.
