Black Friday November 25

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Black Friday November 25

Postby Shirlv » Fri Nov 25, 2022 11:39 am

Morning All, a rainy 54° day. Weather is fine with me because I never shop Black Friday. #1 daughters and son-in-law dinner was was delicious. Son-in-law does ham, turkey and pies, daughter all the sides. I guess what they say about turkey is true, last night I slept 9 hours. Well maybe it was the amount of food I ate. Lol. I wasn’t that hungry but wanted to try everything. I think it’s a pj day. Be safe

Good Morning Shirl and all who check in later. It is 47 here and cloudy. We had rain off and on yesterday but at least temperatures are better than last week. We had dinner with our long time friends and it was very good. Everyone brought something and one thing I really liked was sweet potatoes in a brown sugar sauce. I think they boiled the sweet potatoes (unpeeled) first then make the sauce and simmered them for quite awhile. It was a good time but also sad in a way in that as the group gets older some of the men have mobility issues. I think back over the years at how active everyone was, one couple rode to the hounds across miles of land that was connected by several farms, another couple was into gaited horses and we all had dogs that we trained and showed in obedience. Also I realized the woman I visited with the most over the years is now someone I really don't have much to talk about with.
I should have gone out for dog food. The pet store I go to had 20% off of everything store wide from 9-10 AM but I just couldn't get motivated. I rationalized by thinking I would avoid being in a large crowd but as one of the guests at dinner yesterday had flown in from NYC that might be a greater concern.
Barbie I'm sorry you missed getting a ticket for the Thanksgiving Dinner, hope you found something good.

Good morning (well, I see that it is actually noon now  ).

I had a spitting headache all day yesterday so I didn't feel like cooking or eating much. Maybe today, altho I am not very hungry, and am feeling a little tired and down in the dumps this morning too. I did do a little Black Friday shopping on line yesterday, camping stuff I will need that was really discounted!

There is a big Pow Wow at the casino this weekend. I went to it a few years ago and it was really cool. I might go to that later.

Have a good day and don't spend too much (unless it is a really great deal!) :D

Good afternoon. I cant believe it is 1:00. Where did the morning go?? Oh yeah I was perusing all the Black Friday deals and can you all believe I couldnt find a thing I needed or wanted. Cause I dont have to need it, to want it LOL So had lunch, cleaned up the kitchen and now I think I am done.

Had an issue with my Christmas lights I put up yesterday. Actually it was the timer I had an issue with because I had checked all the lights before I put them up. But I didnt have time to fool with it because I had to be next door for dinner. Was very nice evening and more food then we could possibly eat. One of her relatives brought a jello cranberry salad and I dont usually like cranberries but....this salad was really good. My neighbor made a fruit salad and again it was good. I should have asked for the recipe for the cranberry salad, Mary gave me the recipe for the fruit salad, wow really easy I will make it one day but will half the recipe for sure. I tried to taste everything, just a small amount of turkey and dressing and the rest was salads. I dont know why but I am not a fan of green bean casserole LOL I know probably blasphemus to most of you. I didnt have dessert either I was too full.

Mada a sausage, mushroom, cheese egg scramble this morning, only ate half and will heat up the other half tomorrow for breakfast. Foggy out again this morning and no sun coming out yet, I have high hopes. Geez our garbage man usually comes about 11am but he was here at 8:30 today.....I took my garbage can out about 7am thank goodness, because sometimes I dilly dally. I dont think I will dilly dally anymore. I think it is because of the holiday tho.....maybe. Okay going to lounge around in my sweats today and make a Caramel Mocha.

Late afternoon here at the 45th. Sun is coming out as the clouds clear out. Weak cold front came through, but moving on. Sunshine and maybe 50’s tomorrow :D

Sounds like everybody had a good day yesterday, except sorry you had a headache Barbie. I enjoyed dinner at neighbors. Came home with leftovers. Small chicken pot pie on tonight’s menu. Will do the Turkey leftovers tomorrow. Martha, you could also freeze some of your leftovers into meals for days when you don’t feel like cooking.

Quiet in this neck of the woods. Not many people around. Some neighbors are gone for the holiday. Some of the people who own second homes here might pop up yet before the weekend is over. I ran a couple of errands in town this morning as we don’t have the traffic and Black Friday crowds running around here that much. Plus they have pretty much been and gone anyway. It’s gotten to where a lot of stores are doing Black Friday sales even before Black Friday gets here and I think a lot of people wait until cyber Monday and shop online.

Also took down the Thanksgiving decorations at the subentrance and because tomorrow is supposed to be such a nice day, I plan to put the Christmas ones out.

So I guess I had better go check on my pot pie as it is in the oven but it’s gonna have to go out for a little bit in order for it to warm up. Being that this is made with Artesian flour, I have to heat it up just a little bit different than stuff made with regular flour.

It has been in the 60's all day and overcast. I got almost 2 inches of rain yesterday so everything is wet or damp. The pond is almost up to the overflow. We are suppose to get a lot of rain again tomorrow. I didn't do any shopping on line or in person. Can't think of anything I really need. Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday. We don't have many small business places we can shop left. I haven't been in the downtown area lately so don't know what's downtown.

Our trash didn't get picked up so guess they are running a day behind. The mail just passed at 5:30. She is really running late. As usual the walk to the mail box is mostly useless. I get the local paper, all 8 pages of it. Today I got a letter for someone in Broussard which is up by Lafayette and a letter wanting me to subscribe to the Pensacola Florida News Journal. Why they would send me that I don't know.

After 3 meals of Thanksgiving food I think I'll have something else for supper. I have a divided container that came from the deli so I made a TV dinner and put it in the freezer. Pictsweet frozen food has a sweet potato casserole that's already made. You just have to bake it or microwave it. It is really good and so easy. lol

Didn't get much done around here today again. Still have a bad headache but I am thinking it is from grinding my teeth. I have been doing that a lot the past several days. I need to look for my mouth guard.

I did do a little more Black Friday shopping and found some half price deals on a couple more things I need for my upcoming adventure. I forgot about Cyber Monday :o ...will have to see what that offers. :? As long as I need to get these things anyways, I may as well get them half price now than full price later. I have been saving stuff I will need onto a wishlist on Amazon, so I just went thru that list to see what had a BF discount. If it was a really good discount, I bought it. Things I just "want" or that I am not sure if I will need it yet, I skipped over. Can decide on those things later on.

Otherwise, just been hanging out on my bed with Romeow. Nice breeze outside so had my windows open. Gets pretty chilly at night so I turn the heat on in my bedroom just a little, when I go to bed.

Back to work tomorrow but luckily only til 2pm so will be a short day. And then Sunday off. Hopefully I will snap out of this anxiety/funk thing I am in and get back to getting stuff done. On Wednesday morning at 8am is the sign up for the Christmas Dinner here so I will be there by 7am for sure so I don't miss out again. Don't want to spend Christmas by myself too. :(

Have a good night

I did a lazy day today.... just laid on the bed and looked at the phone and fb... was watching this video and somehow sent it away took awhile to find it and save it... it's funny as I was trying to find it found out that he is the guy that I got a recipe for a couple years ago it's for a roasted carrot dish I'd forgotten about it will have to find it again and fix it one night think it has dates and pistachio nuts in it...
this one today was a apple dumpling recipe... used to really like apple dumpling but not something I've made in years...
I think it was warmer today or was suppose to be I didn't go outside to see...
mom has sure had a up and down day pretty tiring for me to watch her ;) and since I really didn't do much outside of my room she came down the hall a lot to see what I was doing... I guess I could come out and sit on the couch and do whatever I was on the bed but on the bed I usually have the heated throw on and can stretch out my legs and the couch is really uncomfortable... and when the tv is on it's so loud but then when it's not the silence is really loud...
I did finish up a 1/2 row... went to fix supper and found out that it would take 55 to 60 minutes.... so I looked in the freezer and found a couple of bags of soups so did that instead... one was hamburger soup and one was veggie beef so combined them... wasn't enough for two separately and together it was more than enough... sure wish I'd asked dd for some left over's
read a thing on yahoo about ellen travolta bucket list being on a hallmark movie so read the article the movie is coming out this weekend and was filmed in SLC in the summer in 100 degree temperature... that would take a lot of acting to do a Christmas movie in the dead of summer
you all have a great day

Finally decided to make my chicken dinner tonight. The chicken breast was not the best, kind of tough. I should have stuck with the shredded chicken from the deli. I bought a package of Bob Evans mashed potatoes. They are SO good! I buy that quite a lot and it makes for a good meal with a veggie. Oh darn! Just remembered I forgot to take out the Hawaiian rolls to add to my meal. Well, tomorrow... Too bad I already finished off all the cole slaw the other day. That would have been good tonight too. Also forgot about my chocolate mousse cake log in the freezer. I still am working on strawberry cheesecake I got several days ago.

Watched a little TV and am now in bed just before midnight.

Anita, I saw a post on FB from someone who has a place in my park, who lives in Leavenworth. She posted a video of downtown area with light snow falling and all the buildings lit up with Christmas lights, from a few nights ago. Looked like a postcard town! Love the Swiss Chalet style buildings! Very cute town!

I'm with you Karen I can't do the green bean casserole. I wonder if the jello cranberry salad you had is the one I really like. I don't make it but my friend always makes it for holidays. It has celery, pecans, apples, oranges and not sure what else or what flavor of jello but maybe blackberry.

I also don't like green bean casserole. It is the onions on top I don't like. I make a similar casserole with mixed veggies, hamburger, and tater tots on the top which is way better. :D

Thursday I partially cooked 2 bags of frozen steam in the bag green beans and 1 bag of cut up squash, tossed with a little olive oil, garlic powder, mixed salt free spice (like Mrs Dash)on a cookie sheet and slid it in the oven to roast under the entree. Just checked every so often to remove before they burned. Even my no veggies please son loved it! Easy peasy and NO canned salty onions! (But you could add them if you wanted when you put them in a bowl for serving.)
