And Now It’s Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

And Now It’s Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Nov 23, 2022 8:07 am

A good chilly morning to you all. It’s clear and 19° with the promise of a nice sunny day ahead.

Got my errands done yesterday and it was kind of a fun because I was able to browse to Christmas stuff looking for a couple of green lightbulbs which I have I didn’t have much success of. And Home Depot and Lowe’s both have their black Friday stuff sitting out and I love snooping around the tools this time of year. I don’t need anything but you never know what might be new out there. i’ll go back another day and just kind of goes snooping because I will probably find something I can use in my craft work but I didn’t even think about. I am tossing a Dremel around.

Anita, I agree about the snow. It’s cozy inside watching the snow falling outside. I always enjoy it. When March comes around then that’s enough. Shirl is busy being the ever watchful gardener. Beth, hope your test went well.

Finiahed all my woodcrafts for the Christmas display and will put the varnish on them today. Plan to go out to the garage and shorten the fence pa els down that are part of it and get the rest out of my shed. Decided to leave the Grinch alone as is. Cheryl, you are right about “Bah Humbug”, , that is more Ebenezer Scrooge. Now I have two wooden Christmas stockings that I bought at Hobby Lobby to paint and I’m thinking of toying around with some sawdust to make it look a little textured. Have never done that before, but one never knows what happens when you experiment. And we all know I have plenty of Sawdust

So I guess I should get busy. Want to run the vacuum and put my Jell-O salad together for tomorrow. I also have to run up to the little deli restaurant couple miles from here and pick up my order of chicken pot pie, mashed potatoes, gravy and green bean casserole for later this weekend. Thry doing that as a special for Thanksgiving. Or you can order ham. But they have to be picked up today. And I am more than sure that I will be bringing home leftovers from my neighbors tomorrow too, so I should have plenty of leftovers to munch on plus that. Have a wonderful day today everyone.

Yea, it's 80 and sunny and I'm in capris and a short sleeve shirt. lol I was working in the rose bed when I went to feed and now want to go get some mulch at Lowe's.

I have some nervous cats. They set the camera off 40 times again last night. The camera must only record 40 times. When it's really cold they stay in their beds. I put a plastic barrel that washed up for one of the hurricanes in the shed Miss Kitty stays in with a bed. I see she is using it. She is getting really tame. The temperature in the old house stays about 20 degrees warmer than the outside temperature in the winter. Some of the cats go in there at night.

Better get a move on if I'm going to town.

Good afternoon Sue and all that check in!

Sue, I wish I had your woodworking talents because I am impressed with everything you do. Like, Karen, I don't have the artsy fartsy gene. Anita, I enjoy watching it snow, too. Now, if the sun came out and melted it all away, that would be the perfect snowfall. Cheryl, I know you're going to love your Airstream. They are so nice. Lyn, keep posting because I sure enjoy reading what you have to say. Velda, I was surprised, too, that the Grinch had so many sayings. Barbie, you must be anxious to sell your home and start looking for your perfect Class C. Beth, I'm looking forward to reading what you plan on doing this coming summer, or maybe finally retire? Shirl, what Christmas decorations are you putting together this year? Martha, I think cancelling this weekends campout may have been a good idea. Your cats are so spoiled! BJ, are your temperatures still in the mild zone? Sheila, I think it's sort of neat that your Mom is checking on you. You do so much for her and this might be her way of reciprocating.

It's mild here this afternoon and we'll be in the mid 70's. Tomorrow we might get into the low 80's with sunshine. We met friends yesterday and went to a restaurant in Sarasota for what they called their Thanksgiving dinner, but no one had turkey or the usual sides. It was fun. Tomorrow, the resort is supplying turkeys and hams and everyone is asked to bring a side for Thanksgiving. Saturday, Steve will cook a turkey on his Egg and we're having friends over to have a meal here. It's not Thanksgiving without the leftovers.

Irmi, I agree on leftovers! I'm cooking a turkey breast, just so I can have leftovers, but main tomorrow will be stuffed chicken breasts (Costco), Chris doesn't like turkey! It's in 50's here. No rain until maybe next week, which, I suppose is good for those who actually go to stores on black friday! Not me! I let my fingers do the walking across my keyboard! I shopped Walmart, Costco, and my local BelAir yesterday to find everything food wise I needed for this week and next. I've only used 6 gallons of gas this month, with not going to Curves (closed to move ). A friend tried to convince me I needed to replace the 2010 PT with a new hybrid. Let's see $40,000 (=big car payment or big dent in savings), huge increase in DMV tags, and probably quadruple insurance rates, to get 30+ mpg vs 13, and while i only using under 10 gal most months! Was an easy no thanks on that choice. Could I afford that? Yes. Would I love a fancy new car with all the gizmos? Yes. But not enough to justify the purchase.
Irmi, you mentioned Steve doing your turkey on the Egg. First year we were married , Mel cooked turkey over indirect heat on his Weber kettle grill. He used the pan of drippings from under it, to make gravy. Best gravy ever! But sure was a funny yellowish color from the smoke! If I could get his smoker to work, I'd probably do that!

Good afternoon. I thought I posted this morning but apparently not. Cleaned my microwave and fridge, weeded out some stuff in both freezers now I am ready to start over with reloading them ha ha I have 3 turkey hindquarters in the freezer, they are so hard to find except certain times of the year. I was going to cook one but now since I am going to the neighbors I am good with that. Turkey isnt my favorite but it is okay for a couple of meals then I am done. I do love the dressing tho. I have bonded with Stove Top stuffing but I spruce it up a bit and it is pretty darn good.

I am like Velda, I dont drive very far or very often. My doctors, grocery stores, Costco are all about 2-3 miles from me so no need to go further. Except once in a long while. I am keeping my 2010 car also, I just do routine maintenance on it and so far it is treating me right. I am not much of a car snob so this works for me just dandy. Just had a good salad for lunch and it was tasty. Have not had salad for quite a while. Going to have half a ham steak and yam for dinner so that is planned out. Irmi I bet your turkey done in the Egg will surpass anything they have to feed you. I would have ham tomorrow and turkey friday LOL

Was foggy and damp again this morning but the sun came out about 11 and it wasnt that cold out this morning, of course I wasnt out there very long. Going to get ready to put my Christmas lights up this weekend if the weather holds. Just put new batteries in the timer as it was still working but harder to do when everything is all set and if you take the batteries out you have to reprogram it,..no thanks.

Going to fix a Mocha now and settle in to continue to watch Coroner. I like that show I just found it.

Irmi, You asked about the weather here and it is much improved. It's been a mostly sunny today 58 at 3:00 in the afternoon and mid forties forecast for tonight. We had record breaking cold for about a week but hopefully we are back to more normal temps. I would like to have some of the turkey Steve is cooking on his Egg.
I had a massage today and it was so relaxing then I stopped at my favorite coffee shop for a Cappuccino. I came home and cut some on Pippa's hair and then cut mine on top. I hope the moon was in the right phase. I can only do her a little at a time mostly because I'm not sure what I'm doing. I've always cut them after they have had their first groom by a real groomer.
I think my DH is going to get a new car soon or he may be walking. He has over 100,000 miles on his Subaru and they need some type of work at that point. He also needs a new battery which he is trying to put off! He drives everyday in some areas that have no cell signals so he may wish he had bought the battery! I'm happy with my 2015 Toyota Sienna van with only 47,500 miles on it. It is crazy how much I could sell it for but obviously I don't drive that much. I totally understand having a new car though and if I drove more I would consider it.
Karen I wish I cooked meals ahead like you do. I should look up some of the recipes you talk about.

Gee Karen, I didn’t know I’m a “car snob” because I bought a new car (electric). :( I’m really enjoying it each time I drive past a gas station with a smile on my face. No gas, no service required. :)

Velda, tell Chris he isn't alone. I've never been a turkey fan. But I always liked all the sides. Or most of them anyway lol

I went to Tombstone today with my friend Ginger after I got another vaccination this morning. It was quiet there today. But they expect it to be crazy starting Friday. We figured that, thus went today. That's always a good time. Then I was hacking at a tree I want gone. With a pair of scissors and hands twisting branches. I think I'm going to go to the hardware store Sat and see what it would cost me to purchase my own heavy duty cutters. It's a pain that the park has some but they've disappeared. Eventually I'll have to have these two obnoxious trees removed, but I'm only here another week before heading to Texas so just trying to make them more acceptable for now.

Tomorrow I'll head to Ginger's park for their dinner. This will be my 3rd time going there on Thanksgiving. Then I'll be waiting to hear from my doctor about my bone scan. The tech gave me a copy of the information but I'm interested in hearing what the doctor has to say and if I'm reading it right. The tech wouldn't answer my questions on the reading, saying that the radiologist does that. Can't blame him, he did show new what he could talk about.

Off to watch an episode or two of Criminal Minds.

So I posted this thing on FB pretty funny guy... one thing he says no experimenting for Thanksgiving day... he is so right!!!! so I bought puff pastry instead of phyllo dough... after making what I was trying to goggled the difference between the puff is thicker than phyllo apparently so where the recipe called for 8 layers it got two... and I made two instead of one and now have a box of puff pastry in the freezer...it also took longer to bake we will see tomorrow how it tastes... was suppose to sugar each layer after putting butter on it forgot to do that on the second one... oh well it doesn't look like what it's suppose to either... we will hope for the best... the other looked so nice :?
did a half row other than that not much was done...
Irmi that is a concept that I'd not thought of.... she did watch me today even when doing the dishes... just unnerving
going over to #2 daughter's for Thanksgiving dinner need to make a salad in the morning and be over there by 2 so we can be back before dark couldn't talk her into coming and getting us... I haven't driven the pass in the winter in a very long time... not looking forward to it at all.... but oh well need to pull up my big girl panties and be an adult...
we were going to have turkey... but got a text guess the turkey didn't thaw dang as I do enjoy turkey my husband didn't so we usually had both turkey and ham... after eating my MIL's turkey I totally understood why he didn't like turkey but he also wasn't much of a chicken eater either except for legs... He was a picky eater...
I think I'm off for some hot chocolate...
as much as I don't like snow I don't mind watching it I just don't like to drive in it walk in it or whatever in it... and I totally agree with after March it can be gone... actually Feb would even be better...times of being snowed in... you know the walking to school up hill both ways ??? well not up hill but flat about a mile in the snow.... a cold walk
we actually got up to 30 today.... and it's at 21 right now
you all have a good day
Happy Thanksgiving
sheila

Beth, I still clearly remember Chris's first thanksgiving. He was 6 mo old. Just starting to try different foods. I had this nifty little hand crank baby food grinder. He loved everything, except every time I tried to give him the ground turkey, even with gravy- he spit it out. Funny thing was my Daddy sitting across the table chuckling and telling us I did the same thing with banana, which Drs in the 40's thought were superfoods! Like Chris, the hated bananas, much later, when tested because of breaking out on my hands from work, turned out not to be the Betadine soaps, but the latex gloves, back then when that's all we had, and the Dr said- you are allergc to latex, which means you are likely at least sensitive to bananas, avocados and kiwi, which are all in the same plant family! Later Chris tested sensitive (just shy of full allergic reaction) to turkey! I tried for years to get him to eat turkey, until we learned there was a reason he didn't like it!
