Leisurely Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Leisurely Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Nov 22, 2022 8:41 am

Good Morning all. Cloudy and 29° here at the 45th. Going to be a leisurely bumming day today. Need some things from Meijer, Walmart and Lowes and a stop at the Credit Union, Dollar Treeand maybe Shoe Depot or Dunham’s Sports. Looking for another pair of boots. Bought a pair a week ago, but like to have two pairs so I don’t keep wearing the same ones all the time. Big Boy has a special going on today, buy a Pepsi and get a Big Boy burger for 99 cents. So will be heading there for lunch.

Christmas display stuff is almost done. Finished up the last big ornament earlier the morning. Decided to get “Grinchy” with this one. Debating if I want to put “Bah Humbug” or something on it. What do you think? Open to ideas. He’s actually on a blue background but the light makes it look gray.

Nice picture you posted yesterday Carol. Hope the winds die down for you. Karen, I wasn’t crafty per say until about 25 years ago. Used to do hairpin lace crocheting and embroidery and hooked rugs, but have always had an interest in working with wood and tools, so started doing the yard art. I taught myself how to use my handheld scroll saw and also a miter saw. Shirl, what have you been up to?

Time to get cleaned up, out of Jammie’s and mosey along to town. Hope you have a great day.

I am up but not at em yet. I had a busy day yesterday. Went to my eye doc appt at 9:30 but he was tied up in Eugene in emergency surgery so rescheduled for later at 1:15. So took myself to Fred Meyer (our Kroger store) and got a few things they had on sale. Then went to our other market (more reasonable prices) it was pretty busy but I did get a front row parking space LOL So stocked up on things for home and for Thanksgiving at my neighbors. Came home and unloaded and put stuff away, then it was time to return to the docs. Came home after that and made 2 small pans of Lasagna. From the One Dish Cooking website. I have made it before and it is super easy. Ate half of one (5x5 dish) and will freeze the other one for later. It uses only 2 lasagna noodles per dish LOL So cooked 4 so I could make 2 pans.

Sue your "leisurely" day sounds pretty darn busy to me LOL Not sure what I will do today but I did buy some tomatoes that I like to blanch, skin, and slice. I dont like the tomatoe skin so will have tomatoes for BLT, salad, and just eat sliced with my scrambled egg. Still on my first cup of java so it will be a bit before my home comes to life.

Morning Sue and Karen. I have my dexa scan this morning so need to get Ty walked shortly and then over to the hospital. I meant to make an appt for my latest COVID vaccine there but forgot so if they can't fit me in will stop at Safeway on the way home for that one. I bought a piece of Plexi glass and had it cut to size for the lower section of my screen door so going to play with that this afternoon and see it what I want to do works. Fingers crossed.

Sue I love the Grinch. I can't decide on adding bah humbug to him or not. I think I'm leaning to leaving him without it but either way works. He's an adorable Grinch.

Morning Sue and All, sunny and cold. Daytime temps are in the low 40’s but the balcony warms up to 50’s. I planted spinach seeds for salad but think I waited too late. Checked the pot this morning and have tiny 1/2 “ plants. I will continue to cover every night and hope for the best. Sugar snap peas are growing too. I have trimmed the tree so I could get the bins out of my way. Will wait to decorate the balcony. Will take pictures if I ever finish. Did not feel like cooking yesterday so had a McChicken sandwich, fries and an apple pie, Still have balcony lettuce so a Cobb salad with tuna for dinner. Be safe

Good Morning, Although for some I guess I should say Good Afternoon. It is sunny again here and a balmy 54 degrees! Not much going on, I am meeting friends for coffee this afternoon which will get me out of the house.
I noticed yesterday someone had shared what looked like my Facebook profile photo. I tried to report it but couldn't find where to do it. I did lookup his account a Stephen J Townsend and saw it says he is a government official....right. But most of his posts are photos of women and a blurb about they updated their profile photo. I didn't see mine.
Karen I'm with you I also peel tomatoes.

Good morning Everyone. Sunny and 57° here. Going to shower, then head to Costco for the few remaining items we need for Thursday and beyond. Sometimes I wish I were a coffee drinker, to help me wake up, but I never liked coffee and not that fond of tea either, so water it is!
All ok here. Wish my energy would return to where it was a year ago. Soon I hope.
Have a good day!

Just got back from putters golf. Was a little more organized today so we got done an hour earlier than last week. Played with some very nice ladies. One I have never met before and we had a great conversation and have a lot in common. She and her husband have a nice place on the putting course. Her dog got out of the house and came over to watch her play! Too funny! Her hubby finally came and got him. I played really well today but I also didn't have to keep score! :D

Need to eat some breakfast (my stomach is growling :? ), and then start on my list that I didn't get to the other day. Just small projects around here.

I talked to the maintenance guy here this morning. He is the one who came over to check my oven a few months ago but it didn't cooperate with him either. I told him I really need to get this fixed now and he said he will send over another guy here in the park to check it out. He said there may be a leak under the house with the propane hose. I hope he can figure it out.

Romeow is really acting in his "terrible two's" lately, especially at 3am! Just into everything and being defiant! Before when I told him to get down, he would look at me like "oops! Sorry!" and jump down right away. Now he looks at me like "make me!!". His weight is holding at 9 lbs so that is good. At least I know I didn't accidentally adopt a baby tiger! Altho at 3am he seems like one! Need to clip his claws today, too.

I picked up some stuff for a small Thanksgiving dinner. Some corn and other ingredients to make a corn hotdish, some coleslaw (from the deli), mashed potatoes and gravy, and a small chicken breast. And of course, dessert, a frozen chocolate cake log with chocolate mousse in the middle of the layers. :D

Sue, I love Grinch things! He is adorable (in a Grinch sort-of way  ).

Sheila, keep an eye on your mom. Sometimes getting up in the middle of the night to wander is a dementia behavior called "sundowning". They can wander outside and get lost before you even know they are gone. And with the cold weather there, that would spell disaster.

Have a good day and stay warm!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Beautiful, sunny day here, after a cold early morning. 44*.
Sue, I love that Grinch. He has a very guilty smile on his face. Hoe about the word Santa with a large question mark?
BJ, check book review.

Good afternoon,

Running errands is not my idea of leisurely, Sue!

I guess I needed sleep after a nap yesterday and 10 hours overnight. Nearly 2 and I've just finished coffee - been placing Amazon orders - again. It is a beautiful day, though most or all of you will disagree, as heavy snow is falling. Suppose to get 1 to 3 inches. I love it when it snows during the day so I can watch it. Over the years I had forgotten about De-icer for windshields! Ordered that and a good snow brush. Unfortunately, several accidents reported around the area. I ordered a 6 ft ladder which arrived this morning. Going to figure out how and where to hang Christmas lights.

County Code Enforcer just pulled in again, but scanner isn't working. Would love to know what the issue is because he's entering a different building this time.

Got to Walmart yesterday and realized I had left my very long list at home. Didn't do too bad though. They only allow 20 items in self-checkout - I should have counted. We pay 8 cents a bag here and I take my own so had to bag items anyway just not sorted the way I like. Recent FB post with picture of Walmart receipt where unknown item was listed and store had no explanation - this was either here or in Port Angeles, not a random share.

It got up to 58 today but the sun never came out. I'm getting tired of these gray days. A few showers came thru but we didn't get much down here. It rained a little on me in town. We are suppose to get a lot of rain on Thursday. The weather report is saying sunny and 76 tomorrow. I can't wait. lol

I made the banana bread brownies this morning and they are very good. Too good. I think I got almost everything in the kitchen dirty and powdered sugar on my shirt. I should have waited to make them when I was going somewhere so I don't eat them all.

Went to the bank, post office and grocery store. I only stopped for potatoes but spent $47. I need to stay out of the grocery stores.

Anita, what is a County Code Enforcer?

Barbie, it takes a long time for some of the bad boys to get out of the terrible two's. CC is almost 7 and he is still bad sometimes. I had put 2 cat trees up, one in the bed room and one at the end of the hall. He will run up one and down, across the house and up the other one. The house cats mind their own business but CC will walk by and slap one of the old lady cats. I had put him out of the house for a long time because he was peeing in the dog's bed and it's a pain to wash. I let him come back in when he got in a fight and got beat up. I put a waterproof pad in the bed so I don't have to wash that big bed if he does it again.

Sue~ Doesn't the Grinch have his own saying? When I hear bah humbug, I think of Scrooge.

Busy day today. Got the Airstream. I'm exhausted!! And my back is killing me. Looks like a tornado hit the inside so the only think I've done is made the bed. Didn't transfer my mattress because it was 6 years old, so hoping I'll be so tired I'll just sleep.

Have a good evening ladies.

Martha, the first time I saw the code enforcer, I had to Google. Couldn't figure what they would have to do with an apartment. After research, all I could figure out was that it might be about people smoking pot on the premises since the office had just sent out an e-mail about that. From the direction the man went today, I have a feeling the disabled man in this building probably was finally reported.

People had dogs out playing in the snow. I was at my laptop in the office and saw the lady from upstairs walking home from her job at Safeway. She's in her late 60s I think and a tiny thing. All of sudden I saw 2 dogs making a mad dash for her. I went to the living room and onto the patio. She was already cussing the dogs because at least one had jumped on her. I asked if she was okay and said she nearly had a heart attack. She had words for the owner, I had words for the owner and lady's husband had words for the owner who I think is a visitor. An e-mail came from the office later about dogs are to be on leash. They don't seem to understand if you don't enforce the rules, people will not obey them. There are dogs off leash every day, more than once a day. Just shaking my head.

Snow has stopped, but kids are coming tomorrow to pick up my Thanksgiving contributions.

I can feel your pain, Cheryl, but it's for a good cause. :)

Cheryl, I hope you sleep well. And an exciting day it is

Anita, I just remembered one of the things I meant to comment on last night. I loved the Hallmark movie of the three guys and baby. I missed a couple parts so intend to watch it again soon. And I laughed out loud both times they did their "routine".

I bought a. Christmas sign at an art show this summer and it looks like your grinch but has “Happy Grinchmas” on it. Wound that look good on your sign?

Survived colonoscopy. Had to start the last part of the prep at 4 am so with the anesthesia and lack of sleep, I took a nap this afternoon!! Feel better now.

we are at a balmy 16 now... lots better than 5 amazing what a few degrees will do...
like your grinch Sue... like the suggestion that Judy had... what did the Grinch say???
went to the store and got stuff for fruit salad couldn't find the tropical fruit mix it's like fruit cocktail but using tropical fruits it's been one of those hard to find canned items... and got the rest of the stuff for the cranberry dessert I saw should have priced out the ingredients before I got part of the stuff... it calls for 8 layers of phyllo dough I bought puff pastry not that it was cheaper but as I was figuring out how much I needed they didn't have enough so went with the puff pastry hope there isn't much difference and then I didn't get enough... only got enough for 6 layers... so that is what it will have then I didn't look at the size of the cranberry bag and used all of two so have lots of cranberry sauce some will be used as sauce... hopefully it will work out ok... and people will enjoy it. hopefully I got enough fruit or variety's of fruit...
I really don't plan on going to the store tomorrow...
I thought that movie looked cute as well but it was on Hallmark and mom watches Hallmark Movies and mysteries.... I actually think she has forgotten what the number of the station is...
Barbie mom doesn't walk very far without her walker so I don't think she would venture outside but who knows what they will decide to do... once I turn off the light I'm out and I am a very sound sleeper... so am hoping that she doesn't change that... she has always been one that gets up and wanders about the house one of the reasons she prefers to be at home she feels like she can and to raid the fridge ... she doesn't eat enough so try to have easy to get out like strawberries... but none in the store I should have stopped at Albertson's and seen if they had any but the other day they didn't... I keep cheese cut and crackers on the cupboard
you all have a great day
