It really is FRIDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It really is FRIDAY

Postby Redetotry » Fri Oct 28, 2022 11:34 am

Good late Morning, Does anyone else feel like this should be Saturday? It started out in the low 40's but warming up nicely now.

Has anyone heard from Sandi? Lyn good to hear you NH daughter is coming for a visit. Is she ready to move back to CA yet or has there not been enough cold weather in NH yet? Beth I sure hope you can get on the road to warmer places. Sue could you send me a little of your energy please!! I did clean off my desk a but but a lot more to do. For some reason I've quit record keeping. I always kept an Excel worksheet on monthly expenditure but when they revised it I gave it up as it is way too complicated now. I could do it faster with a pencil and a paper worksheet with columns if they still even make those.

It's time to think of lunch and get the kitchen organized. A friend just called and is bringing me eggs and a few tomatoes. I'll trade her some of the good coffee I just received my order.

Hi, All, I will have to hold off on ant questions about the NH daughter until I see her. She arrives the 1st.
As far as the dog goes, I didn’t adopt her as her foster care taker told me she was a barker. I don’t want any problems with the neighbors nor the home owners association.
Since then I have been feeling really old. Having to rest a lot during the day. Tho my B/P and pulse are quite stable now.

Afternoon BJ and All, overcast and 60° but have door cracked for a little fresh air. I keep checking for news of Sandi and hoping all is well. Waiting for Beth to hit the road. Searching for pictures of Sue’s latest project. Shelia, I guess grabbing mom and taking her to Q isn’t an option. Looking forward to a day of shopping with #1 daughter tomorrow. Well, she’s shopping I’m just riding along to eat lunch. Be safe

It's a cool 65 today and there is rain coming. The last time I went out it was misting. The trucks were in high gear this morning to finish picking up the rest of the neighbor's hay before the rain. I'm sure they didn't want to get one of those big trucks stuck in the field.

BJ, I was looking for accounting paper last year and it's hard to find. The local office supply store and Walmart didn't have it. I had to to to Office Supply.

Not doing much this morning but spending money on the computer. I always order the same cat calendar every year and they were on sale. I'll be set for the new year if I don't lose the calendar which I have done before. Ordered the batteries for my Vivofit.

I need to quit reading recipes online and find something for lunch. I get 5 or 6 emails everyday with recipes. I saw one this morning that would be a good potluck dish. It is a casserole with hash browns, ham and cheese. I was digging in the freezer yesterday and found King Cake. I though I had gotten all of that out.

Hi all,
What a busy bunch...
Barbie, getting your place ready to sell & venture out full-timing
Sandy, loved the pics of your trip, hope your procedure went well
Beth, hope you get away from there eventually...
Sue, as busy as ever ...
Lyn, I hope the visit with your daughter goes well. Sorry the pup isn't going to work out - but it is wise to consider your neighbors & the HOA.

Sounds like its getting cool in some areas - glad I'm in California where we're in the 70's most of the time now.

Thanks to everyone who commented on our family's new little guy. He's pretty sweet. I've continued to have Jordi with me a lot of the time. Thankfully he's back at preschool this week & my ex is over there helping until Sunday. I hope they settle into their new normal with 3 little ones soon.

French class is keeping me challenged. And I just found out yesterday that my old company has shipped a laptop to me so I'll start doing some work for them when I get it. I just hope I can remember how to do everything - it's been 2.5 years since I retired. I'll enjoy having a mental challenge once I get the hang of it again.

ON top of all of this, my DD just moved from Paris to Bordeaux yesterday. While I wasn't able to help physically, I followed their progress - especially overnight as they took the train to Bordeaux. They went from a ground-level small studio apartment in Paris to a 2-bedroom lovely apartment in Bordeaux for less money. They are both delighted & now I can't wait to visit. She's coming here for a couple of months - arriving mid-Nov. We hope her hubby can make it for at least a couple of weeks too.

I think God overheard me thinking I was getting bored with retirement so He's fixed that! Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

Once French class is over I hope to be on here more often & keep up with everyone better.
Take care,
Catherine

It's a very nice 70° at 11:30 am. No rain in sight until at least middle of next week.
I've been hoping for news from Sandi too. Sending her prayers and good thoughts.
I was emptying last few cups of cat litter from bag this morning when something shifted in my lower left back. It's been so good for a while! Chiropractor at 3:15! Really hurts. Strangely when I'm upright, I'm ok, but sitting or reclining is very painful at moment. Thankfully my chiropractor is really good getting me in quickly. That's what I get for thinking a few days ago how good my back has been for month or more. Tempting fate , never a good idea!
Son, Chris, and I did a big Costco and Walmart trip yesterday afternoon. All stocked up except couple items from nearby grocery and we are set for a week or more. Boy are groceries- basically same list as every year before Halloween, way up in price! Probably double a year ago for pretty much same list. And, have you notched how pricey eggs have gotten and often low in stock and others I communicate with saying they are being rationed in some areas- only 2 cartons allowed. Going to make my usual chili for Halloween, which we like to eat for several days, so big pot, but not the huge pot Mel always made! Been a family tradition for at least 4 decades. Mel would spend a entire day, slicing, dicing, sautéing, adding spices, tasting, tweaking, and long slow simmer. Then sit pot in cold sunroom overnight to meld flavors for Halloween night and rest of that week. Often used 6-8 lbs meat. Back then I long simmered pinto beans to add, but I no longer tolerate beans, so Chris found Bush makes canned chili beans-no meat, just beans and a chili sauce. So when my no bean chili is ready, he dumps a can or two of the chili beams in a separate pot and ladles in the meat chili until its his just right and heats gently until supper. Until we were married, the only chili I had made was hamburger plus packet of seasoning and can tomatoes. I learned a lot from the son of a truck stop owner- his Mom, whose chili was said so good, truckers went out of their way on the day of week Mickie made her huge pot each week! We still have her hand written recipe with Mel's notes through the years, which was his starting point. She always added half a pot of day old coffee from day before to her chil, and Mel used either his espresso or coffee crystals. I don't drink coffee, but, the chili isn't quite right until that coffee is simmered in! That and a little cacao powder were 2 of his several secret ingredients that made his note worthy!
Happy to report my two feline senior citizens are doing well at moment. They will be 18 in January and early February ! I'm grateful for every day with these two fur kids! And November marks Suzies birds 43rd November with our family!
I doubt we will have many trick or treaters, but we have bags ready. It's fun, these days, to see neighbors grandchildren at the door accompanied by parents we knew when they were only a couple years older than these little ones! Memories of 33 years in this house!
Still need to get to Chrysler about tailgate in PT. What a nuisance loading big shopping trip of groceries in side doors of car. Was going by Chrysler today but back spasm has me putting that off until next week.
That's about it for me. Have a good weekend everyone.

Hi everyone. My daughter just dropped me off at home after I was was released from the hospital. They say it went well but it apparently takes up to 6 months to determine if the ablation has truly succeeded in ending the afib or not. I’m just thankful right now that I got through the procedure and an overnight stay. I’m a terrible patient. All I want to do is get out of there. Why do they have to keep the rooms at what I call freezing? I accomplished my escape this afternoon so now I’m supposed to take it easy for a week. We’ll see how that goes. We did stop and got my pups from the kennel on our way home. I sure missed them even though it was only 2 days. Thanks for your kind words and encouragement.

Good afternoon. Kind of a busy day for me today. This afternoon I made the potato soup and made my bread. Took some over to my neighbors. My 93yr old neighbor looks very much better today than she did last week or so. Amazing what just being in your own home will do for you. My other neighbor is on her way to the Casino to play Bingo, invited me but nah too many people for me yet.

Had a lunch date with JudyJB today. We mostly yakked all thru lunch then delivered Judy to her Motorhome so she could continue her journey down to Ashland for tonite then on to California. Was good to see her again.

YAY Sandi got released. So good to hear your procedure went well. Now do as they say and take it easy for the week. I went to my doc yesterday, I gained 12 lbs she was happy. Lungs were clear still. Also got my flu shot. Dont have to see her again until April.....bit still have the Pulmonologist appt on the 14th, repeat CT scan in February, Labs in March, then see her again in April.....sheesh when will it end????? Velda hope they get your back fixed today. Nothing worse than back pain. Catherine going back to work. I need a sign, "Will work for groceries". Velda is right the cost is terrible anymore and that is even if they have it. Martha I love spending money on the computer and then BAM it shows up at my door in a couple of days.....perfect way to shop.

Rain coming our way again this week but we still need lots more so hopefully we will get plenty this winter.....hope so.

So glad the procedure went well, Sandi, and to hear from you! Catherine, 3 little sweeties! Happy everyone is getting good medical reports for the most part. After hearing the latest from my 23 yo granddaughter, getting old is a piece of cake compared to what she goes through. So glad she is now 10 minutes from the Mayo Clinic. Sue, some of your projects bring so many memories of ones Steven and used to do. Online shopping is so easy! Just received 3 new tops for January cruise - along with a few other things. Monica and I are going to Costco Sunday and then pickup our orders at Walmart. Lyn, have a good visit with your daughter! Barbie, hope you have an easy time finding a RV that works for you.

I bounce from one thing to another and never get cleaning or a project finished. I think it's a lost cause.

Glad you made it home safe and well! And do take the advice and take it VERY easy over the next few days.

Fun to have lunch with Karen today, and I am eating leftovers right now! I have three long drives to get to Las Vegas, but looking forward to being there.

Great day here. Sandi, I'm glad you're home with the pups and this part is over successfully. And I think Shirl's suggestion to eat ice cream is an excellent one. Judy and Karen it sounds like you had a great visit. Karen, I made that potato soup recipe last night but I substituted the country gravy with a package of peppered gravy. It spoke to me from the shelf lol. It was good, too. I had it for dinner last night and as an appetizer tonight. Obviously I'll be eating it for a few more days but the weather is right for soup so I'll just continue until it's gone. Yesterday I added cheese. Today plan, next time bacon.

Anita, your granddaughter is special. I hope they can help her and continue to find more and better treatment options.

I agree about all the rising grocery prices but there been no trouble getting eggs here. I've been buying several dozen at a time to make hard boiled eggs for our continental breakfast. After closing the other day I had about 8 eggs left. I hard boiled most for the road but scrambled a couple for dinner the night before last. While they've gone up so much in price it's still an inexpensive meal.

I am going to try to get everything off mine ready in the rig in case there's any way I can head out Sunday. But Monday will be definite if Sunday doesn't work out.

Sandi, I'm glad you are home. I'm sure your dogs missed you too.

So far the rain has been a bust here. It went North and South of here.

I made a mistake going across the old carport when I was walking Sugar. It was almost dark and didn't see a skunk but she did. Thank goodness she didn't get much of the spray. The skunk was under the bicycle so that kept Sugar from grabbing it. I think she got most of the spray in and around her mouth. I gave her a bath and then had to clean the bathroom.

:? ugh Martha that is too bad... the skunks used to roam pass my 5th wheel while parked in Idaho... you always knew when they were around
I had stuff to do today... mail to send out and to pick up went to the knit shop but no parking close by so that will wait a few days... and to the store yes the prices are high... I noticed that diesel is up again as I drove to the store... makes me glad at the moment that I'm not using the truck right now... :o I think it was 5.38 or higher... not too long ago it was down to 5.13
saw a method of frying eggs the other month been awhile so tried it while mom was in Lander before I went to get her... I liked them will do it again... eggs is a dish that mom doesn't care for she will occasionally eat them but it's rare which is too bad because it's a good protein anyway they were called Spanish fried eggs basically hot pan lots of olive oil and fry spooning the oil over the eggs... it was fun to watch them bubble up ect actually when I poured off the oil it didn't take that much oil even though you pour a lot of oil into the fry pan... I actually think that breakfast for supper is going to happen soon... not sure what day perhaps Monday. or Sunday might be better... we will see...
glad to see you check in Sandi I think that is what my sister in law had awhile back but don't know for sure..
after going to the store and put the groceries away I sat down and worked on my Swedish Weave went a short ways and realized that something was wrong and I thought how can every thing be right and yet terribly wrong???? realized that I'd added a jump up which doesn't make since at all to anyone who doesn't do it... and not even sure I used the right term... but once I took out the parts I'd done and did it correctly it worked!!! always tickled when I figure out what my problem is...
Beth hopefully the weather will be great for leaving on either Sunday or Monday...
and a mini GTG that was nice for you Karen and Judy
So Catharine you are going to be working again how many hours do they expect? hopefully it will work out for you ...
I have actually considered taking mom down to Q however I live in a 5th wheel and that equals steps which wouldn't work just a lot of stuff that wouldn't work if I had a park model down there it might work but also Mom just wants to be home...which is why it's so hard to know what to do...
a movie I've not see which makes it hard to just leave in the middle of it...
where did I miss Anita's post? need to go back and see what I missed... somehow scrolled past it... what cruise are you going on in January? I remember reading about your granddaughter but don't remember much about what her health is doing ....
I know that I'm missing commenting on other's
you all have a great day
