Smoky Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Smoky Wednesday

Postby BarbaraRose » Wed Oct 26, 2022 9:56 am

Good morning gals!

Not sure where the smoke smell is coming from but last night I had to close my windows because of a rancid smoke smell outdoors. Sometimes there are brush fires or dump fires south of here that cause that smell. But I have been checking with different news sources and so far nothing has been mentioned. Still smells a bit smokey out this morning. Very irritating for my eyes, which are already irritated from the dust  .

Karen, you posted this morning on yesterdays thread. I am not really full of energy as much as full of determination to get this place ready to put up for sale. My goal was for November 1st but might be a week or two past that. This has been a much bigger project than I had anticipated but there is light at the end of the tunnel now. My goal is to get to Q by the first of the year. But that all depends on how long it takes to find a buyer and how long it takes to find an RV. I do have some leeway tho since I don't have to be in Tucson for the Escapees Boot Camp and rally until the middle of March. Just want some time to get the RV set up and get used to boondocking, etc, before heading out in the big world! :D

Off to work soon...have a good day!

Barbie, I too am impressed with all you’re doing to start your new life on the road. You have a goal and it looks like you’re making good progress.

I’m preparing for the ablation procedure first thing in the morning tomorrow to hopefully cure my atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat). I have to be at the hospital at 6:00 a.m. I’ve been calm in the past for a couple minor foot procedures, but this one because it involves my heart is really causing me some worry. I’m finding I worry about everything especially my dogs and what will happen to them if things go wrong. I couldn’t sleep past 2:00 a.m. this morning. If you’re inclined, I’d appreciate your positive thoughts and prayers.

Barbie, I wish I had your ambition for cleaning the outside of my house. I found a spray called Wet & Forget that works pretty good. I guess the rain rinses the dirt off. The only problem is I have an 8 foot roof/porch in front and back. Unless we have a blowing rain it doesn't get to the house. For some reason the South end never looks bad, just the North end. The last time I sprayed I didn't get a ladder so it's only clean about half way up. I should use a pump sprayer instead of the bottle sprayer. My son had a high pressure washer but I have never tried to use it. Since it has set for so long it probably wouldn't work.

Yesterday a friend's daughter posted that she passed away. It's a shock when someone my age that I know passes away. She had moved to Texas but would be back here often.

I don't know what I'll do today. Maybe go to the feed store and get cat food.

Sandi, prayers that your procedure goes well.

Afternoon All, Sandi, positive thoughts and deep breathes. You will be fine. Barbie, atta girl coming your way. Martha, I hear you. I stopped reading the news but get sad and depressing news from friends and family. I just filled out my mail in ballot which I take to the drop box. Scary news about drop boxes so will take my purple cane. I placed an order from Sam’s club for an item not carried in the store. Shipping was $5. Do not understand why groceries are not carried in stores but will be shipped. Sheila, would be nice if furnace repairman could restore electric heat to pellet stove room. Every day a new challenge but we are a tough bunch. (((Hugs)))) Be safe

Sandi - Just wanted to tell you I had that procedure last year and I, too, was apprehensive about it. It's scary to think of what they do, but it's not bad at all. In my case, even though they said it worked, I still had to have a pacemaker put in a few months later. Still not sure I really needed that, but didn't want to fool around with heart problems. Hang in there, girl. It'll be fine.

Sandi- you are in my prayers!
Shirl, I thnk thereis a lot of competition for what gets actual in store, on shelf space. Perhaps your item sells, enough to allow it central warehouse shelf space, but does not meet the level for in store, so you can order but won't find in store.
I walked my 2 miles and did a rebound session, and am off to shower.
Barbara, have you sought the advice of a recommended realtor yet, as to timing and local market? Might be a good first step.

Sandi, prayers and thoughts coming your way.

I've been working my tail off to try to get everything done and relax my last couple days and I'll be danged but I get a text that they rented the Airbnb another one nighter. Laundry supply company picked up everything today. So now people will come in tomorrow and I'll not only have to clean it the following day but will have to wash all the used linens and towels to put in for the other one nighter the next day. Ugh. The owners are to arrive tomorrow and I guarantee they'll get an earful from me.

On another note I spent forever on hold with social security because I applied to start taking it after my upcoming birthday and the website keeps saying it's in "stage 2". At least the person on the phone gets better info and all's set. I expected my first check to be in December but it'll be January. I'm good with that. She said to expect my snail mail about it in November sometime.

Martha, unfortunately we all continue to hear about family, friend and acquaintances who are leaving. Sorry for your loss.

Just got some good news from my oncologist today. I have been worried because my blood tests done in March showed my white blood count up, plus my neutrophils were high then also. That could have meant one of two things--I was going out of remission and would need more treatment in a few months, or I had an infection somewhere that was causing the high numbers.

The good news is that both WBC and Neutrophil numbers are back to being normal, as are all of my other numbers! Yea! I have been imagining having to start more treatment in the spring or next summer, but now can continue traveling without worrying, at least without worrying for now. (I read my blood test numbers like some people read the stock market! I have all my tests for the past 6 years entered into a spreadsheet so I can track changes.)

I had to take an Uber to the doctor's office because no RV parking anywhere nearby. Stopped on my way back at Trader Joe's and stocked up on some of my favorites.

Was a little quieter at work today. Got three $10 tips which is always nice!

Sandi, Prayers for a successful procedure!
Judy, yay! for the great outcome of your tests!!
Beth, hope you get out of there before Christmas!

Velda, We have our own real estate agents here in the park that we have to use. Being that this is a "seasonal" park for snowbirds, nothing much happens until the current snowbirds show up. This market isn't like the regular housing market. People that buy here pay cash and are typically retired and can only stay for up to 9 months. Many people that rent the park models from the owners, love it here and end up buying their own park model while they are here. So the 'season' for selling here is starting now. Last year the homes were selling within a day or so of getting listed. There are not many for sale right now, so not a lot of competition. Keeping my fingers crossed! My house is a little outdated but looks nice and has a different layout than any others here that I have seen. The enclosed porch is an asset as well, and while not on the golf course, it has the green space in back. I have the new stove, microwave and mini split, so that is an asset too.

I have a dentist appointment in the morning. Then I don't know for sure yet what I will get busy with. I had decided not to take any of my gourd stuff with me, but now I think I will take a few small gourds, paint, a few brushes, and my wood burner kit so I can practice with that some. Maybe I will get that figured out tomorrow before taking the rest of my gourd stuff to the storage unit.

I got a call from Soc Sec saying to call them back. Will call tomorrow and see what that is all about. Maybe I missed something on the application.

Gonna watch a little TV tonight and get to bed after that. I need to get to bed earlier now because those crazy yappy little dogs wake me up at 6:30 every morning  when their owner takes them out, and I can't get back to sleep! :x I hope they go home soon! There are 4 of them and they all start barking at the same time!

Now that people are coming back for the winter, I can put some give-away things out in my driveway with a "FREE" sign on them. Things go fast that way! We have our first yard sale in the middle of November but by then I better be done with getting rid of stuff!

Have a good evening!

went to a carnival at the church tonight... lots and lots of soup didn't count but betting 20 pots of soup and the desert table yes it had lots as well... :o
Martha it is in deed hard to loose a friend one your age... found out tonight at the carnival that a friend someone my age known him since we were in probably 5th or 6th grade... died last night or early this morning... he has had a lot of health issues over the years and there have been times when I've been surprised he survived... but he did till now... just feeling sad about it... :(
made soup for tonight thought I'd come home with most of it but just a container partially full so glad although it's more than we will eat in one meal maybe I ought to put some in a container and see about finding a spot in the freezer..made hamburger soup I really like that soup actually like most soups
I actually did 1/2 a row on my Swedish Weave today which sounds like not a lot but actually is just ought block out more time to work on it so I can actually do two half rows...
need to remember tomorrow to zoom a funeral for a friend in Q problem is that is usually when we are having breakfast.. will have to try and figure out something around it..
and we had snow today...
Sandi good luck with your procedure prayers as well
I get your timing Barbie but it's too bad you will need your RV before the big show has they have lots of rigs there... are you going to try and buy in CA or outside of the state? have you decided what state you plan on being your "home" state?
has anyone heard of a "hearing aid devise" that you wear like a watch??? my brother brought it up the other day but he was in a hurry due to weather so he didn't go into details...
that is too bad Beth about having another day perhaps the owners need to clean this time... don't they know that you need to leave soon?
you all have a good night
