Sunday October 23

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday October 23

Morning All, a week of news about the tropical storm that threatens the east coast our forecast for today is “cloudy with a touch of rain” :D Not dressed, still drinking coffee and trying to find something exciting to do. Nothing. Yesterday, tried carry out from the Japanese restaurant around the corner, was very good. Signed apartment lease for another year which lead to filing and organizing paperwork. I have been recliner shopping for ideas and prices for balcony Christmas decorations. Fairy lights on tree branches last year was pretty but tedious and not fun. Found a laughing piggy bank for two youngest great grands as gifts. Might buy one for me because he makes me smile. I have a sleeping rabbit laying on top of the China cabinet too. Whatever floaters your boat. Guess I will make a pot of Italian wedding soup for dinner and freezer. A little balcony time and a touch of rain for the complexion. Be safe

Good morning Shirl and all who follow!

It is a beautiful fall morning here!! :D It is very breezy out this morning and the sun is shining. We never did get the dust storm or high winds here which is a very good thing! Yay! It is nice and cool out. I have my bedroom windows open and the cross breeze is very refreshing! I think I will open up all the windows in the house before I go to work to air it out in here. The porch too.

Last night, Romeow was very interested in something under the stove! I took a flashlight and looked under there and saw 4 mice! :o Luckily, they were just his toy mice! (And a few of his other toys). So I fished them all out and dusted them off and he has been having a ball playing with them all night and this morning! I cut a piece of cardboard and taped it along the front of the stove so the toys can't get under there again.

Romeow is such a sweet boy! I love him so much! :D He sleeps with me now at least for part of the night. I think he loves me too! :D He still has his crazy moments but is very entertaining! I hope he will be a good camper kitty! I need to start getting him used to his new harness. He looks very handsome in his new matching collar (teal, of course) and it doesn't bother him at all. His name tag should be here by tomorrow.

Off to work here soon. Have a good day!

We made it back yesterday from our wonderful trip to Italy and Greece. Lots of good memories and pictures. Only problem is we had 3 airlines to get us home - Aegean from Athens to Bucharest, Lufthansa to Frankfort, and United to San Francisco. And of course, they lost both our luggage. So today I’m out shopping for underwear, etc. We were gone for 2 1/2 weeks so we brought along lots of clothes. All gone so far. I sure hope they find them. I have lots of catching up here on the forum and I hope all are well.

It’s been pouring for hours, accuweather needs to get its act together. Soup is hot. My kingdom for a thick slice of crusty bread slathered with butter. Sigh! :(

I had the hospice lunch today. I was trying to find something to wear to a Sunday dinner and had to throw 2 pair of shoes away. The soles were falling apart. I'm going to be up the creek if I need dress shoes. I was going to bring a small purse instead of my big one and the leather was peeling on the strap of the small purse. All my stuff is falling apart. The lunch wasn't very enjoyable because it was so noisy in the restaurant. I had alfredo pasta with crawfish and it wasn't very seasoned. It would have been nice if they had given me some garlic bread. Shirl, I know your pain. lol

Sandi, glad you made it back from your wonderful trip. Hope they return your luggage.

There is a young orange and white cat that comes and eats with the outside cats sometimes. It's pretty wild and takes of if I get too close. I saw it this afternoon and it looks like it might be pregnant. I thought all orange cats were male. All the orange cats we have ever had have been male.

I need to go walk Sugar. I start watching the news and weather and before I know it, it's almost dark.

Good late afternoon. Been a weird day weatherwise today. Clouds, rain, sun, then did it all over again LOL Barbie I sure am glad your mice were toys ha ha He is going to hate his harness, you better start getting him used to it. The only cat I have ever seen adapt so easily was Sandi's cat. That cat just acted like it had been on before many times. Took off walking just as happy as can be. My cat never did like it, just laid down and wouldnt move....ever.,
Glad Sandi made it back home and hopefully they will deliver your luggage soon. Shirl a slice of hot bread with lots of butter would have been the bomb. I am making soup in the next couple of days and will make my bread. I didnt have any powdered milk and my yeast is old so will pick those things up in the next couple of days.

My neighbor brought me some homemade chicken noodle soup last night so will have that for dinner tonite. No homemade bread yet but I have an english muffin it will have to do.

I hope your luggage finds it's way home soon, Sandi! Martha, I always heard the same about orange cats.

Weather? The snow followed by the cold came in overnight.

Yes, it's beautiful but our high only to the mid 30's today and lows will be in the teens. Made for very slippery outside. Oh and windy. But only two more continental breakfasts then all guests out. We're progressing pretty good on closing rooms as we can. Tuesday after all leave we'll go into high gear. At least I can get the housekeeper on the road sooner then even if I'm stuck here because of them renting the Airbnb. Ty and I are getting used to sleeping in the back room of the office. It lets me spend less on propane and stays toasty in here. Still staying waiting on one check-in today.

Shirl, I agree that Accuweather needs to get its act together! Sandi, hope your luggage finds its way home. What a wonderful trip you had! Beth, hope you are enjoying that pretty snow.

I made chili and wish I had bread! Just as football game started, a talkative friend called followed by a Kansas cousin to tell me her older sister had passed away. She had Parkinson's disease. So I have been on the phone 3 1/2 hours! So much for vacuuming during commercials.

Just found this very helpful article on orange cats: https://be.chewy.com/behavior-pet-facts-are-all-orange-cats-male-all-calico-cats-female/#:~:text=About%2081%20percent%20of%20orange,will%20be%20orange%2C%20says%20Konecny.

I have two 800 watt electric heaters and have them both going. Each can be set to 1200 watts, but having them at the lower number and putting one in the front and on pointed towards the back does the trick. I have almost never had to use my propane furnace at night this fall. Of course, I did switch out my lighter-weight summer cover for my medium-weight down comforter, so that really helps also. I have loved the feel of down since I was about three when my mother gave me a satin down comforter for my little bed as a child.

Made it to Armitage park in Eugene, but too late to start laundry here tonight. I have everything sorted and there are four bags. This campground has a very nice laundry room with three big washers and three dryers, and it is kept locked so outsiders cannot get in, which means it stays fairly clean. Luckily it is only a short walk from my site because it is supposed to rain in the early morning and rain all day. I'll slog through the rain, regardless.

Judy, if temps are not too cold I don't use my propane furnace either. But when a hard freeze is called for or temps are too cold for an extended period, the propane furnace is necessary to make sure water lines, etc don't freeze.

Sandi, I am so glad you had such a wonderful trip with your daughter! Great memories, and hopefully you two have a much closer relationship now.

Martha, we have a stray cat down the street who is an orange tabby and she has had two litters so far. Her last litter she had 3 orange tabby kittens and I think at least one of them is female. So I guess not all orange cats are males.

It was super busy at work today! I had a young boy in my chair and he has a helicopter mom! OMG!! :o She was right in to everything I was doing! I kept telling her "excuse me" to get her to move and I finally just moved into her several times. She never got the hint. She kept wiping hair off the cape and off of him while I was cutting. I told her I will take care of that myself. She was a real PITA!! Then when I was done, she took the cape off him and threw the neck strip on the floor. I use the neck strips afterward to wipe the hair off my customers necks when I am done. When I told her that, she went to pick it up off the floor. I told her it was dirty now so I had to use a new one. Geez!!
I kept trying to think of a nice way to tell her to back off but I was so frustrated and mad that I figured anything I said would come out nasty! I just hope I don't have to cut that kids hair again!
I am getting very impatient and crabby at work now. Every little thing gets to me, whether it is the customers or my co-workers. I just keep my mouth shut and remind myself I don't have much longer to work there anyways. I think the aches and pains I get there don't help my mood any, either.

I was exhausted by the time I got home so I have been just laying on my bed with my laptop, enjoying the nice cool breeze blowing thru my room! It's been very breezy today and tonight. Feels so good! Not enough to blow the dust around but enough to be refreshing! I will hopefully sleep good tonight! I have a long 9 hour day tomorrow. Hope it isn't too busy. Mondays are generally slow days so am keeping my fingers crossed for that!

I must have finally got the right balance of good bacteria to offset the bad bacteria in my aquarium. It has stayed crystal clear for the last couple weeks. Karma seems healthy and happy.

Have a good night!

Barbie it just dawned on me that you said you were getting rid of ...Karma when you go full time....Why??? I used to have a 5 gal aquarium in the 5th wheel... it was in a location I didn't need to move it when traveling with your little tank I would just lower the water level a tab bit maybe not and stick it in the sink the sink is a great place for "stuff" when traveling... it held plants bamboo ones that had water in the vase as well as the ones on my shelf I got pretty good at stuffing the sinks
the weather is not great here either.... my brother came for supper he has a big pass to go over no not Teton Pass but the other one I can NEVER spell it correctly  he said that it was getting slick so he did the eat and run I actually thought at one time that I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't make it due to the weather... but he did and was glad to see him... he asked when I was going to get off oxygen I said not while I'm here he said thought so...he is back at work works 12 hours a day 6 days a week.... it is really too bad that he has to work that hard... part of it is he became a workalcoholic and he hasn't dropped that but he also has a boss that now expects him to work those hours... because he has done it forever...
it's been a lopsided day usually I come home from church read scriptures but today had to get the meatloaf into the oven then read a few minutes then made the rest of the meal then finished reading my niece and nephew came over to get what laundry I had
the pellet stove is still not working the living room is still cold brother suggested that I get a ceramic heater for in here not sure if mom would go for that she is covered up with a blanket and throw but it's hard to sit up and have a throw over one when on the computer...
a couple of months ago I took the car to the dealer said it was leaking something they asked if I had the A/C on well yes it's just condensation ok so went on my merry way my db checked the oil while I was at their house and added a quart my nephew noticed it was leaking something checked the oil and it's almost out so no going to the store tomorrow it's going to the dealer's on Monday night so need to add groceries to the list I'm giving niece... we are having a carnival at church Weds night signed up to make a soup so need to decide for sure what to make so I can give them a list... planned on going to the store tomorrow but with it that low not doing it...
Sandi that is too bad that your luggage is lost hopefully it will be found it just seems par to course this year... hear so many stories of lost luggage...
well you all have a good night

Karen, thanks for reminding me about my cat Amy at the Oregon GTG and how when I put that harness on for the very first time ever, she just walked along on the sidewalk as if it was something she did every day. In addition, she had only been an indoor cat before she ventured out that day for the first time. Thanks for the wonderful memories of Amy and of a great GTG.
