I'm here, are you there?

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

I'm here, are you there?

Postby MandysMom » Thu Oct 20, 2022 12:00 pm

Happy Thursday everyone! It's a nice 76° here in my part of northern California . Expect to maybe reach close to 90° Again! One more day , after today, then they tell is it will cool and these will be our last possible 90° days for the season. Our hoped for rain seems to have vanished off radar, but we hope it will find us eventually.
We are ok here, other than the usual. Have been picking away at the task list, as I can. Handyman starting to show up more regularly and has 2 of 4 decks ready to put new stain/sealer on.
I read here every day, just don't have a lot to say. I've enjoyed Sandi's photos of her trip and Sue of fall weather. We are not quite into color yet on my two big trees, but cooler weather will cause that rapid change.
Have a happy safe day everyone.

Afternoon Velda, it is sunny and very chilly today. The bean soup was a big disappointment. Those dried beans would not soften. I searched and found I used old beans. Don’t remember when I bought the beans so can’t blame the store. I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and called it dinner. Going to have a ten minute air fryer fish and chips tonight. Lettuce on the balcony still looking good so a salad too. A steady parade of dump trucks outside my window carrying soil from the construction site. Paid bills, organized papers and did the filing. Necessary chores but boring. Be safe

Fog blowing off ocean today, but sun peeking through occasionally. Hope valley is better than yesterday in terms of fog.

Slept in today, but trying to get some ambition to clean out an underneath storage bin or two.

UPDATE: Found the extra key to the bike rack, but still missing the key that locks the battery in. Better than nothing--still looking. Who knows what I will find!

I had a few errands to run this morning so came home and had a BLT, very tasty. Having a taco salad for dinner, was going to have one yesterday but ate my leftover chicken instead.

My old next door neighbor that was in the hospital passed away yesterday. It was a bit of an issue as his daughter was here and arranged for hospice at her home in Grants Pass about 70 miles away. She got medical transport and hospice was to meet them at her house to analyze their needs. Well, he passed away on the way to her house in the medical transport van. The problem was he was discharged from the hospital but not yet enrolled in hospice, so she said it took several hours to get that straightened out. Thankful he passed peacefully and so is she. I will miss him. He was my neighbor for almost 17 years before the fire and then we both bought a place in the same park so again he was my neighbor for 2+ years just a couple small streets away. Very happy I got to see him on Saturday.

I am loving Sandi's pics, just outstanding. And the narrative sure helps explain stuff. Still not making my bread yet LOL I got involved with a chore this morning. Oh well. I have made bread the old fashioned way and with the bread machine. I prefer the bread machine, start it and go about my business. I am sort of lazy in that respect. Then the neighbor came over with his ladder to fix my front gutter that had a couple of nails coming out so he hammered them back in along with a couple of extras ha ha I have the best neighbors. AND my 93yr old neighbor that broke her hip is coming home today YIPPEE she is the sweetest gal. She has been in rehab for quite a while. I am going to make her a quiche as she loves it when I share mine with her.

Taking a little break. I took the load of stuff to the thrift store this morning. I have been rearranging bins and furniture as I get rid of more stuff. I have gone thru more bins from the shed and most of that is in the trash or going to thrift store. Everything is so dusty! My eyes are sore and I feel filthy! I have washed my hands a million times today!

I need to make a run to WM for more drinking water and bins. I might stop at taco bell for dinner on the way back home. I don't feel like cooking. Had a PB&J sandwich for lunch.

Then will get back to sorting. I found a big box of books in the shed, so I will go thru those tonight. I am really not having too much problem getting rid of stuff so far. I probably could get even more ruthless but I like to keep a few little sentimental things.

When I was out this morning, I saw a small Class C parked in a lot in front of a WM Marketplace. I saw a woman sitting in the drivers seat so I went over and knocked in her door. We chatted for awhile and she showed me the inside. It is a 2020 24 ft Four Winds. She has is packed to the gills in there! She has been on the road for 5 months now. She seems really nice and we had a good conversation and exchanged phone numbers.

Well, I better get back to doing something...

While you are getting bins, Barbie, you might want to get some clear, slightly smaller bins to start putting things in for camping, like flashlights, batteries, extra cooking stuff, etc. Clear bins will enable you to find stuff more easily, and smaller ones are easier to store and to sort through.

I ordered a new 5 year calendar so I can keep up with next years campouts. I signed up for a Sister on the Fly campout next March. They don't have many in Louisiana and if you don't sign up as soon as they are posted you won't get in.

I didn't do much today but I did get my bread machine out and made bread. I just used it to make the dough and cooked it in a bread pan. It didn't rise as much as I would have liked. I seem to always have trouble with bread and rolls rising. My house is too cold. In my old house I had a water heater in a cabinet that looked like a dryer. It was good to put bread on for it to rise.

Karen, sorry about your friend.

It was 42 last night and got up to 76 this afternoon. Our cool spell is about over. It will be in the 80's for the next week. I am missing some good camping weather. I haven't signed up for the November campout. I hope they can find out what is wrong with my motorhome quickly.

Barbie, I wish I had your ambition for getting rid of things.

I actually did something... I vacuumed the floors... it was so needed and made a chicken veggie soup... tasted good although I didn't get enough salt in it...enough for the nephews family as well I think if not then for his wife to take to work a couple of days... and some for us :o
the NP called and gave me the results of my echo...one arterial has some slight calcium deposit as well as a bit of narrowing another one has some slight calcium but no narrowing... he suggests have a yearly echo to just monitor what if any changes are happening.. of course due I think to walking and having the test my bp was high never that high so I'm sure it was "white coat" syndrome he thinks that my oxygen level is due to high altitude... I actually was hoping for a something that could fix it and I could eventually get rid of the hose....
Velda glad to hear from you I was thinking last night that it's been awhile since you were on..
Karen so sorry for your neighbor it actually was a blessing though...
Barbie are you still going to keep a storage unit in CA? sounds like you have accomplished a lot
you all have a good day

I went thru all the books and put most in the thrift store pile. Had a few ferret related things that I want to hang on to, things from ferret shows and contests they were in. Found some jewelry including some of my mom's rings which I will keep. A lot of this stuff takes time to look at, read, reminisce, etc. Everything I keep has to fit in a 5x5 storage unit or the camper.
Judy, I do plan to get clear bins once I get the camper and see what will fit in cabinets, cupboards, and drawers. The bins I am using right now are just ones with lids that I can stack for storing until then. I think I will try to clear out as much of the stuff in the shed here as I can and use that to store the camper stuff instead of in the storage unit, since I need that space available just for the long-term storage.

Tomorrow will be more tackling the shed to make room for the camping stuff. I already have a third of it cleared out. Will make a run to the storage unit later tomorrow. I only have a couple small bins ready so far.

It was in the 90's today but will be cooling off into the low 80's over the next week. Sunday's high will only be 76! Unfortunately, I work all day Sunday. I think fall is finally here! Yay! I had all the windows open in the house last night and will again tonight. Good to get fresh air in the house again!

Karen, sorry to hear your friend/neighbor passed. :(
Sheila, you need to tell your family to step up so you can get down to Q for your health and easier breathing!

Good night!
