Woke up to the snow Sue said I might get! It’s been mixed with rain so nothing sticking which is okay with me! And by Friday it’s forecasted to be in the 60’s. Strange weather we’re having but not really that unusual for this time of October. I have a hair appointment early this afternoon but that’s about all for today. Think I’ll make some potato soup and attempt to keep it to a small pot! It feels like soup weather. So otherwise nothing much happening here. I enjoyed my day yesterday without people in and out of the house and being back to my routine such as it is! So that’s it for me so far today. Hope it’s a good day for you all and stay safe.

Sharon, it has to be a good feeling to have the painting on the house done and your life can get back to normal. Fortunately for you, the snow didn't stick. The fall pictures that Sue posted were so pretty. Someone said they were calendar worthy and I totally agree. To all of you that have shared your travels with us, Sandi, Sheila, Anita, Sue (and who did I miss?), thanks for taking us along!

We woke up to 51 degrees this morning in central FL this morning and our high is supposed to be in the high 60's. But with the winds we're having, it feels down right chilly. This cold snap is only supposed to last a couple more days and by the end of the week, we'll be back in the high 70's to mid 80's. I can't wait. The residents here are slowly coming back from wherever they went for the summer. I saw on FB that Brenda is on her way back to Arizona and I know that Carol & Bill are on their way back to Mexico. She always posts such nice pictures. Beth, the picture of Ty on the bed was so adorable.

Since nothing of interest is going on here, I'll sit back and wait for the rest of you to chime in. Have a great day!

Good morning Sharon and Irmi. Chilly here too again this morning 43, but going to warm up to 79. We are warmer than you Irmi LOL Not sure if we will see much sun today as there is a very big fire north of us that has been burning for a month. Keeps jumping boundaries Our valley is filled with smoke. In fact we have an advisory until Friday at 4pm and I think that is optimistic. We have had smoke for a while now every time the wind changes. Rain is supposedly coming this weekend but remains to be seen how much we actually get.

Not sure what the rest of my day will bring. Need to finish swiffering my floors. Ran out of the liquid spray stuff. That wont take long tho. Might make a run to Costco I need a few things....I have a list LOL sometimes that helps sometimes it doesnt. I want to make some chicken enchiladas so need to pick up a rotisserie chicken there. I have sour cream and cream of chicken soup, and of course green chilies and jalapenos so I am all set there. Will make a large pan and freeze them for lunches. And of course I need some bacon. I have 2 nice tomatoes that are begging to be a BLT.

Sue, your fall color pictures are beautiful. Louisiana doesn't have many fall colors because most of our trees stay green all year. One of the blogs I read every night, Travel With The Bayfield Bunch, has a lot of pictures of fall colors in Canada.

Our temperature got down to 38 last night and it's 60 outside now. I finally had to turn my heat on last night. It's suppose to be back in the 80's by Friday.

Judy, did you every find your key? I am forever putting things away and forgetting where I put them. What makes me mad is losing something I had 5 minutes ago. The last time I ordered some things I ordered one of the things that goes over a cabinet door to hold a dish towel for my sister. I have one and it's very handy. I probably won't be able to find it by Christmas.

Before the flood I had a bread machine that I used all the time. Back then I had family to help me eat hot bread. They don't make the one I had so I bought a different one. I haven't use it enough to get along with it. I don't need to be eating half a loaf of hot bread and butter. Karen, it sounds like you are getting your appetite back and feel like cooking.

The Meetup was at an Italian restaurant last night. I had a shrimp and crab pasta dish. I should have brought half of it home but ate it all. I had ask my son to get me a ham hock and he got me one the size of a roast. I wish I had weighed that thing. Yesterday morning I put it and a package of black-eyed peas in the slow cooker. I had to put all of that up when I got home. I should have peas for a while.

Something keeps setting the camera in the back yard off and nothing shows. I need to go see if maybe the wind is moving the camera. Nicky had a rat he was playing with a few night ago and he had another one last night. I hope he didn't let them go. They mowed the pasture next to me yesterday so the cats will find more rats.

I got an email that the heater I ordered from Tractor Supply is in so need to go pick it up and get Sugar's pills at Walmart.

Afternoon All, low 60’s on the shore and 30’s at night. I have been covering garden so all is well. The sun is shining and I can breath the cold air so not complaining. I renewed the apartment lease today. Found out that there is an electrical substation going up in the field across the road and not apartments. Won’t be pretty but less damage to the body of water adjoining property and less traffic. Have so enjoyed the travel photos from my recliner while Sandi and Sue do the leg work. I have Lima bean and ham soup in the slow cooker for dinner. That’s my news. Be safe

Got up at 9 and got started on what is left in the living room from the bins I had on the porch. That is pretty much done now so will start in on the porch in a bit. Meanwhile I have been making calls and trying to fill out my social security app. Need more income info from work before I can continue with that. I am trying to multitask with this stuff, something I am not very good at.

One of my neighbors across the street has her DIL staying with her for awhile to watch over her since she needs assistance. Well, the DIL has 3 little dogs that bark constantly! Driving me nuts! Luckily, she will be leaving soon, and another family member will be coming for awhile to take over. Hope she doesn't have any barky dogs!

Sure have a lot more light coming into my living room now!

I did another covid test this morning an it was also negative so I'm going to chalk it up to allergies as I feel pretty good. One of my friends just told me everyone is 'over' covid and moved on and that now kids can go to school with it if they feel well enough! Her daughters both teach in different states so guess that is true. I find it conflicting though that when I called the health department and said I had symptoms would it be ok for my husband keep his appointment for his booster they said no he had to reschedule. Oh well since people are contagious a few days before symptoms it's a wonder everyone hasn't caught it.

I bake bread every few days in a little, very old bread machine. It's called Just for Dinner and was made by West Bend. It takes about 5 minutes to get it ready and it bakes in 45 minutes. This is my third one and the only place you can find them is on eBay or I guess estate sales. The two I've found were new in the box. I tried one of new machines but never could get a decent loaf plus it took forever to bake.

It is cold here again today 55 with 19% humidity !! We are usually at least in the 60% range. I don't think it got to the 27 degrees predicted for last night but it was still cold for this time of the year. It is supposed to start warming up tomorrow!

We're looking at snow here Sunday. It could be more than they originally predicted because now it shows temps going down to the teens overnight and only to the high 30's Sunday day. Brrr. Since we'll have guests I'll have to sweep/shovel/sand or salt Sunday morning I'm sure. Yuck. I'm thinking potato soup might be on my list to make for Sunday. Thanks for the idea!

Karen, I was just seeing about the multiple accident in Oregon and it looks bad. How far is that from you or Laura? And Judy, chime in also, please.

My hip was aching all night last night. Makes sleeping difficult. Time for new tests to see if my osteoporosis is advancing.

Beth it is closer to Laura 25-30 miles from her, Laura lives west of Salem and this accident site was close to Albany. Long ways from me, about 100 miles or so.

I didnt make bread today, but did get my house cleaned. Going to make it tomorrow. Wow you are getting colder for sure. Our lows are all in the 40's even when our high temps plunge to the 50's this weekend. Supposedly rain coming our way soon.

Barbie it is way easier if you go into the Social Security office if you have one fairly close. They have all your income info on the computer. And they are very helpful.

No keys found yet. The time to worry is when I start putting my purse in the freezer, my vehicle keys in the oven, and the butter in my underwear drawer!

And just make bread the old fashioned way. It is pretty hard to mess up. I’ve been making bread since I was ten! My parents always made homemade bread but one of my neighbors taught me. Call me if you want help and I will walk you through it!!! And when you make it the old fashioned way, you can take out your frustrations when you beat it down. Personally, I use the karate chop method!!

a laid back day today.... need to do fewer of those and accomplish something!!!
nephew came over and took care of the pellet stove said that he was going to be gone the next 3 weekends wonder what they are going to be doing?? if it was my grandson he would hunting... my nephew I don't think he hunts...
tomorrow I need to vacuum mom does a good job of playing a robo vacuum cleaner but I really do need to do a more complete job... been trying to figure out how to keep everything from tangling... or maybe just take the oxygen off for that length of time... we will see.
so since it was a do nothing day have not a lot to mention
I've enjoyed seeing Sandi's pictures... they are mind boggling .... every time I look at the Salt Lake Temple I think the same thing and it was built a long time after...
think tomorrow I'm going to make some sort of chicken soup probably a chicken veggie creamy type we've have pasta several times this week and still have chicken noodle casserole to finish up ... makes me mad I totally forgot to put peas in it...

one of my favorite fall scenes is to see a deep green pine trees with several yellow aspens in amongst them... it is so striking...
would love to go to the New England states and see the "color's" although I used to live in the midwest it was still an area that I've always wanted to go to...
It's been cool here at night time down to freezing but day time is still up in the high 50's or into the 60's so really can't complain yet although mom's house is still cold that I can complain about and probably will.
Karen have you ever had chicken enchilada's with cream cheese in it?
I am sure that I should make some comment about something but for the life of me can't think of it

I have been busy today!

Got a lot done in the porch and organized and packed up the bigger gourd stuff including the gourds I have left. That will all go in storage. Even took out some smaller bins from my shed and went thru that stuff. I have my car loaded with stuff to drop off at the thrift store tomorrow. I think I will need a few more storage bins, the smaller ones. I have quite a few bigger ones left to use. I can use those for clothes and blankets, etc. The lighter stuff.

I have been trying for several days to get a pin number from my cell carrier to give to the new one in order to transfer my phone number but when I tried to get it texted it to me, it never showed up, so I had to call them and spent almost an hour on the phone trying to get the pin number and I eventually got it when they tried emailing it to me. We had a bad connection so it was hard to hear each other which didn't help any. Finally got what I needed and finished my order of the phone and plan with Visible (thanks Beth!).
While I was doing that, I was also trying to get my application done with Social Security. I needed some information about my income, company info, etc so I had to call the GM of Great Clips to get that information before I could finish the application. But I finally got that done too, so I am set to get my first check in February!

Tomorrow is another day. Lots more to do yet. First will be to drop off the thrift store stuff. Then load up the storage stuff and drop that off. Luckily there is a lot more thrift store stuff and trash, than storage stuff. It seems like the more I get rid of, the more there is to go thru! Why is that?? I wish I had done this 3 years ago!

I have made bread (without a bread machine) since I was a teen. I even kept a sourdough culture going for quite a long time, in fact I am thinking about getting it going again.

I love sourdough bread.

I agree with Judy - making bread is actually quite easy, just so long as you don't get things so hot that you kill the yeast.

Just read the article about the two major accidents on I-5. I was not anywhere near these as I took the coastal road, 101, up from Newport to Tillicum, where I am now. I had only a 25 mile drive, however, I will say that there has been heavy fog at least along the coast for the last couple of days. I had to drive over a tall bridge at Newport, and it was a little scary looking at it from a distance, but not as bad when i actually drove over it--no danger at all, though I did drive with my lights on today. Luckily, there was a nice breeze off the ocean which kept the fog moving and high.

But I can understand why there was fog in the Willamette Valley, which is where Eugene is. There have been a few fairly warm days in the past week, but the winds have changed and the temps dropped substantially this morning.

Sounds like maybe they should have closed the freeway when the fog got so heavy. The only problem is that I-5 is really the only major north-south road in the valley. There are mountain ranges on both sides of the Willamette Valley, so not many alternate routes, other than 101, which is really out of the way and not good for trucks. They sent traffic onto 99, but while that is multi-lane, it has a lot of businesses and stop lights along the way. They are predicting more fog tomorrow morning (Thursday), and there is still smoke in that area from the Cedar Creek fire, southeast of Eugene.
