Sunday October 16

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday October 16

Good Afternoon, a beautiful fall day. Temps suppose to drop drastically tomorrow night so will cover lettuce and sugar snap peas. Still haven’t turned on heat so being sandwiched in between floors has advantages. No special plans so will read and fix a chicken and broccoli casserole for dinner. Edith is still trying to find a material she can work with for her boulder. Not sure she has bent the chicken wire into shape. Lol Be safe

Good afternoon now I guess. Been lazing around this morning, reading some recipes and deciding what I think I should make for dinner LOL have a roast in the freezer I think I will take out for tomorrow. But still pondering today.

Need to get the rest of laundry done so I can change my bed linen. Putting away summer clothes as I am pretty sure we are heading into fall. 76 today but then will be dropping into the 60's this coming weekend. So fall is coming!!!!

I have some recorded shows I need to catch up on later as we are starting a new week and will have a bunch more. I got tired of some I recorded as I really didnt enjoy them and I still have quite a few but will be deleting a few more.

My daughter and I had to check out of our “Epic” accommodations on Santorini. We really got spoiled being able to stay in such a nice hotel basically for free just using points Shannon had accumulated from her credit card. On top of that they upgraded us so we were really spoiled. So today we boarded a flight from Santorini to Athens and will see what interesting things we can find. On our way out of Athens we drove to check out the Temple of Poseidon.

The Temple of Poseidon is an ancient Greek temple dedicated to the god Poseidon. There is evidence of the establishment of sanctuaries on the cape from as early as the 11th century B.C. The material and size of the offerings at the Temple of Poseidon indicate that it was likely frequented by members of the elite and the aristocratic class. This Doric temple was erected during the Golden Age of Pericles in the 5th century B.C. and made entirely of white marble. It was devoted to Poseidon, the Olympian God of the Sea, and is located at the edge of Cape Sounion at the southern coast of Attica, with a spectacular view of the Aegean Sea. This special location was of strategic value as the Athenians were able to keep an eye on movements of enemy ships that passed by.

Carol, that must be part of the same system that came thru here yesterday. Safe travels once you hit the road!

Just got home from work. Was a slow day. I see they got the landscape crew out here today to clean up the park. There is caution tape around my tree and the neighbors tree and gazebo. They will probably take care of all that tomorrow.

My goal is to have my place ready to list in 2 weeks...have a lot left to do before then! I will work on some stuff tonight. The rest will have to wait until Wednesday. Luckily, the temps will be in the 80's all week so it will be comfortable outside to work out there. Supposedly another possibility of storms next weekend.

Sandi, it is amazing that those buildings have been able to stay (mostly) standing for all those centuries!

I need to find a good escape-proof harness for Romeow, and a name tag.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I was going to comment on your weather Barbie by the time I went over my day I"d forgotten
it looks like the weather system that hit you all...
tried to use the rostessori thing on my air fryer but didn't figure it out so just put it on a rack with some potatoes on the drip pan and was really good (I wrapped the pork loin in bacon) #3 dd surprised us and came over for a visit she is dog sitting and decided to go for a drive then I called and invited her over for supper she was on her way  it was nice having her here...
she suggested something that I'd not thought of... to mention to the NP we have had a problem with mice and one of the nesting places that they have is under the bed or in the box springs of the bed that I sleep in so wondering if I got whatever disease that mice can give... it is a spooky thought...
other than dd it was a normal Sunday
you all have a great day

Sheila, have you cleaned out the mouse nest and droppings? The droppings can cause lots of problems. Make sure everything is cleaned up and disinfected thoroughly! If they were in the box spring, that should be removed and replaced.

So many things going on! Sandi I'm in awe of all the places you are going! You probably have to pinch yourself to believe it is real! Carol I hope the weather cooperates soon. Sheila you should let you doctor know about the mice and also find out how to properly clean as the cleaning part is dangerous, you might need a professional.I don't know how you sleep at night! Mice are to me what snakes are to a lot of people. Barbie what will you do if your home sells before you have found a rig?

I started having Covid symptoms yesterday and need to find out where to go to be tested. The home kits seem fairly unreliable. I had no idea you can be contagious a couple of days before you even have symptoms. So far I'm just tired, have a drippy nose and this morning I'm hoarse. It has been so dry and dusty it could be allergies. I've never been bothered by allergies but we've never been without rain for so long so the dust/pollen is really bad.

It is 38 this morning and supposed to be 27 tonight which will probably set a record for this time of the year.

Edited to add I just took a home Covid test and it was negative. I called the health Clinic and they said they don't do outside testing anymore to do a home test or go to a drug store Or go to the Clinic's Urgent Care! Wow so you could be sitting in a waiting room possible infecting or being infected by someone . It does say if you continue to have symptoms to check with your doctor. I'm relieved but also still nervous.

Sheila, Hanta Virus - which is carried by rodents (primarily, I think, mice. . .) - can be deadly.

Here are a couple of links about Hanta Virus from the CDC:

Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome

https://www.cdc.gov/hantavirus/hps/index.html
"Anyone who comes into contact with rodents that carry hantaviruses is at risk of HPS. Rodent infestation in and around the home remains the primary risk for hantavirus exposure. Even healthy individuals are at risk for HPS infection if exposed to the virus."

and

BJ, thanks for your post.

I'm now wondering if I may have had a mild case of Covid over the last couple of months. For no particular reason (I pretty much still isolate, and wear an N-95 mask when I rarely go out) I suddenly developed a very bad, wet, unstoppable, cough with mild shortness of breath.

This went on day and night for about six weeks (really interfering with my sleep - waking in the middle of the night gasping and coughing my brains out - I was sucking on cough drops 24/7), and I felt extremely tired - although not particularly ill. I put it down to a milk/chocolate allergy, although eliminating these from my diet didn't seem to help much.

The last few days I have (finally!) began to notice that the cough is slowly going away (although still coughing a little bit). Have gone back to chocolate and dairy products - yum - and these do not seem to trigger the cough.

I didn't do a Covid test, didn't have one handy and like you, BJ, I saw little reason to go out to buy a test, or to sit in a crowded Urgent Care waiting room to get one (thus risking exposure to who-knows-what).

Have been feeling much better over the last couple of days, so who knows? Hoping the cough eventually gets gone!

BJ, sure hope you don't have Covid. After I mowed on Saturday my nose ran and I had a cough for the rest of the day. I'm sure it was from all the dust.

Anne, Walmart was pushing "free" covid tests that they charge to Medicare. They give you 4 tests. You could probably get them at any drug store.

Our cold front is suppose to come through tonight with temperatures in the 30's at night for 2 night. Then it will be back in the 80's. I find 30's hard to believe.

Thanks, Martha.

I'll see if I can get Walmart to deliver a few tests to my home. My local Walmart is a packed-full zoo, no one here wears masks (and haven't since the start of the pandemic) so don't really want to go into Walmart and wait in line for a half hour or so.

But I'll give the delivery thing a try! Thanks, Martha. :)
