Sheila, Hanta Virus - which is carried by rodents (primarily, I think, mice. . .) - can be deadly.
Here are a couple of links about Hanta Virus from the CDC:
Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndromehttps://www.cdc.gov/hantavirus/hps/index.html"Anyone who comes into contact with rodents that carry hantaviruses is at risk of HPS. Rodent infestation in and around the home remains the primary risk for hantavirus exposure. Even healthy individuals are at risk for HPS infection if exposed to the virus."and

I started having Covid symptoms yesterday and need to find out where to go to be tested. The home kits seem fairly unreliable. I had no idea you can be contagious a couple of days before you even have symptoms. So far I'm just tired, have a drippy nose and this morning I'm hoarse.
BJ, thanks for your post.
I'm now wondering if I may have had a mild case of Covid over the last couple of months. For no particular reason (I pretty much still isolate, and wear an N-95 mask when I rarely go out) I suddenly developed a very bad, wet, unstoppable, cough with mild shortness of breath.
This went on day and night for about six weeks (really interfering with my sleep - waking in the middle of the night gasping and coughing my brains out - I was sucking on cough drops 24/7), and I felt extremely tired - although not particularly ill. I put it down to a milk/chocolate allergy, although eliminating these from my diet didn't seem to help much.
The last few days I have (finally!) began to notice that the cough is slowly going away (although still coughing a little bit). Have gone back to chocolate and dairy products - yum - and these do not seem to trigger the cough.
I didn't do a Covid test, didn't have one handy and like you, BJ, I saw little reason to go out to buy a test, or to sit in a crowded Urgent Care waiting room to get one (thus risking exposure to who-knows-what).
Have been feeling much better over the last couple of days, so who knows? Hoping the cough eventually gets gone!
