Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday, October 14

Good afternoon all. It’s a chilly but sunny day here today! I guess I have to admit that summer is over. I put away my lighter jackets earlier and pulled out heavier coats plus about time to pull out gloves and hats. We had a rainy day yesterday so no painting got done but they finally got here awhile ago as it got a bit warmer. They told me the other day they were on the home stretch now and weather permitting it shouldn’t be much longer and they be done. I took advantage of the nice weather on Wednesday and ran away for the afternoon. I’ve had the owners of the cg I always stay in Benezette on my mind for quite awhile and wanted to touch base. Turns out the news wasn’t good. Rick had a heart attack last October and passed away. So Candy and I set outside and visited for about 2 hours. A lot of tears and some laughs too. I never did go to see if I could spy any elk. Wasn’t my reason for the visit anyway. Candy’s daughter and son in law are helping with the cg. They are seasonal so will be closing at the end of the month. Needless to say I was shocked to hear that news and unfortunately I could relate to what she’s been going through.
Barbie, a big new adventure awaits you! You’ve gotten some great suggestions from some of the experienced ladies here. What a wealth of experience this group has. Sandi, I’m loving following you on your trip. When we were in Italy we camped in the northern part of the country. My husband had friends there from his time in Germany she we were able to spend time with them and really experienced their daily life. Such sweet memories. And Carol and Bill are off to Mexico, I think, today. Always fun to see her photos. Everyone’s travels and adventures are the only way I’ve managed to travel this year! Guess I should go out and tackle some more of the falling leaves and get them bagged up! Have a wonderful day and weekend.

Good morning. Rather chilly here this morning 48, brrrrr will warm up to 83. Sun is out so that makes me happy.
Sandi is having a great trip and I love all the pictures. Ann and Bill off to Mexico their winter home. Sharon sound like you might finally be done having your house painted. It has taken a while. How sad about your campground friend. We never know when we will be struck down with either disease or accidents.

I made my stir fry yesterday and I did very good portion wise. I made enough for one serving and a half (it was so good) I still have leftover veggies but I can make it fresh so think that will be better anyway. Not sure what to make for dinner. Having a fried baloney and swiss sandwich for lunch. Havent had one of those in ages. I only like baloney if it is fried. Will have some leftover cauliflower with cheese sauce with it. I could have fries but think the cauliflower is a better option.

Good day to All - well plans are made to be changed aren't they. First off we'd planned to leave Vegas tomorrow, Saturday. But seeing the bad weather coming up from Arizona we changed our plans to leave today. Then yesterday Bill didn't feel good, nothing serious just really upset stomach. Got up this morning feels better but not like driving for four hours. So as of now we won't leave here until Monday 'cause there is lots of rain supposed to be from Tucson to Las Vegas for the next couple of days. Oh well. Too bad I was so efficient in loading the RV - all the food is out there except what is still inside in the refrigerator and freezer. Too bad maybe we have to go out for dinner and breakfasts and lunches....
So meantime the Rv sits out in front of our home which is a big NO NO for where we live, but hopefully no one will rat us out - sure don't want to put it back in the RV lot fully loaded. Usually no management around on the weekend I hope.
It is still in the 90s during the day here until Sunday when the rain moves in and temps drop for the year. Will keep you posted on when we get on the road. And this is the first year I made reservations in southern Arizona - glad we had some wiggle room before we have to be there on Thursday.

Sharon, sorry to hear about your friend. Hope the painters get enough good weather to finish. It's still like summer here. It is 90. We are suppose to have a cold front next week with temperatures in the 60's.

I started working in the yard and never did make it to town. I was cutting the vines out of the Crape Myrtle tree and mowed part of the yard I missed the other day. I wanted to move a gate in Sugar's yard so we wouldn't have to go down the wooden walkway that is falling apart. Two of the bolts are rusted and I can't open them. Guess I'll have to go to Lowe's and see if I can find something to cut them.

Karen, I was hungry for fried baloney recently so bought some at Walmart. I didn't think it was a good as I remembered. The quality is probably not what we had when we were kids. My dad would buy the lunch meat that came in a big can and slice it himself. I remember it being better than what is in stores now.

There's a recall on baby formula for packaging. I hope the country doesn't have to go through that shortage again.

Since I didn't get my seafood lunch I think I'll have a crawfish pie for supper.

I have been busy spending a lot of money lately. Got a new AC unit installed yesterday, and also had both of my vent fans replaced. One has been broken for a couple of years, and the other one in the bathroom bit the dust just before the AC died. I also had to replace my leaky sewer hose and get a new CO/Smoke detector as the old one decided to start screaming at me the other day after I hit a bump while I was driving. Nothing like going deaf from that horrible noise while I tried to find a place to safely pull over and disable it. It had a signal that it was defective and I even tried new batteries, but had to replace it.

Any ways, I have been doing a good job of paying off my credit cards every month, but this is going to take me two or three months to catch up with. But I feel good that all of this is working and that I had bought 6 new tires in March. Plus, I had my brakes and shocks checked, and they are fine also. Only thing I still need to do is to get front wheels aligned, but that is not critical. I am going to try to stay more often at COE and federal places in the spring where I can get a senior discount to make up for expensive gas. Wish it would start going down again. :x

I am in South Beach along the Oregon Coast for a few days, and then will be heading to Eugene to see my doctor, and finally will be heading south and east to Las Vegas in late October.

ran errands today... dropped off mail has to be there before 3 pm so did that first then on to the band deposited mom's check and to Albertson's for prescription was a 1.90 I can live with that... then to Smith's got a lot more than I'd planned spent way more than I planned...and not sure what I got... other than one of those meals that all you have to do is cook it.... just under 20 but as my dd mentioned if I'd gone to a fast food place it probably would have been that much or more.. it was a creamy shrimp pasta dish... not bad all mom ate was the shrimp...
otter pops popped into my basket they were 1.00 a box I got them for the kids... those that want them and the ones not wanted will be give to those that do want it..
got a pork loin been wanting to try it in the air fryer... now to find out how to do it on the rotisserie figured it it's too big I can cut some off and fry them some time... I've wanted to do a chicken on the rotisserie but have yet to find a whole chicken the size needed...
I scan through what is called pocket something sometimes I read one of them yesterday there was one talking about bread and butter pickles... questioning why the name... not sure they ever decided but along with the name it came up that at one time sandwiches where made with them just bread butter ong pickles almost sounds good but I'm out of bread and butter pickles... guess it was something done in the South...
Larry liked fried baloney I remember as a young bride being told that the baloney wasn't cut thin enough... they always used the baloney that was in a ring and he would put ketchup on the sandwich... the meat store in what was the General store used to have good baloney.. I'd get a slice or two every once in awhile as occasionally it just sounds good except I don't like mine fried
hopefully Sharon you have gotten your house finished or it will be soon...
my daughter whose husband fell off the roof asked for help this weekend just in helping her get caught up and in doing some of the stuff that will help like a ramp so tomorrow I am going over not sure what I will be doing but #3 thought I could clean the refrigerator ... will need to take the concentrater and long hose it's really hard doing much when holding on to the small tank that is for traveling as it's just too short of a hose...
you all have a great day

Did a haircut this morning and she gave me $40 for it! I only charge $20 so that was a nice tip!

Was fairly busy at work and got $21 tip! Ended up with over $50 for just 4 hours of work. Not too bad! I use my cash tips for food and gas.

I have been watching TV tonight, when I saw flashing lights outside. That usually means my neighbor fell again. Usually she falls in her house and can't get back up so she calls 911 to get help getting back up on her feet, but not injured. Tonight, she fell down 4 steps from her deck. When I got out there, she was covered in blood but sitting up. Looks like most of her injuries were her arms. They were really cut up and not sure if anything broken. This time they took her away in an ambulance. I ran to my neighbor on the other side of me to let her know since she is a really good friend of hers too. She will take care of the dog.

So I am a little worn out from all that excitement! :o

Tomorrow I will start on the porch. It is supposed to be just in the mid 80's but with a chance of rain, so the humidity will probably be up too. I might just keep it closed up and run the AC into there. Hopefully, I can get it all cleaned in there by the end of the day.

Romeow is expanding his horizons...vertically! :o He discovered there is more to his world than what is on the floor and is now jumping up on tables and counters!

I need to go check out Sandi's new photos.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
