Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday October 13

Morning All, raining and threat of severe t-storm. At least the threat of tornados is missing from todays forecast. I moved iron bistro set from balcony so no danger to slider. Big raise for Sovial Security but rental office will get it. Three steps forward and two steps back. Lol. Read several articles about Queen Elizabeth’s favorite Scottish pancakes or Drop Scones so on my to do list. Need to get cream of tartar. I freeze pancakes so will do so with these too. Barbie your future plans sounds like a wise move, good luck. Carol and Bill, safe travels. I look forward to your daily post. The view from my window gets uglier everyday and is accompanied by the rumbling and beeping of large equipment. So sad. On the bright side there is music, YouTube and new recipes. Be safe

Good morning Shirl and all that check in!

Shirl, I too get frustrated at the construction of single family residences and condos going up on what used to farms or large wooded areas. That is very prevalent here in many areas in FL. Keep finding things to do that make you happy.

People from this resort are slowly moving back in to their sites. Many are still missing but I think that by this time next month, most will have arrived. The owners of this place own lots of land around us and are already expanding because last season, all the available sites had been sold. Fortunately for us, the expansion is going on in the other side of this place and we only see the construction on our way to the dumpsters.

Steve will make a homemade pizza and cook it on his Big Green Egg for dinner. Like Shirl, I think I'll check out some more new recipes.

Good morning. Sun is out and going to be 85 today. Guess weather is supposed to change next week after the weekend down to the 70s.
I need to start chopping my veggies and chicken for my stir fry. I am going to try really hard to make just a 2 day supply.......but has never happened yet. I like leftovers but once I have had it 2 days in a row it is time to freeze it or toss it. I dont want to toss my stir fry but we shall see. Some stuff is just not good the second day. Stir fry will be good but a girl can only eat so much. Will let you all know how it turns out.

Yes, two days eating the same thing is about my limit also. I have made the pumpkin soup and the pumpkin pie from the One Diet Kitchen. Both very good. I love pumpkin.
I suppose any SS raise I get will be taken by Medicare charges.

Good morning!

I'm in Port Angeles, WA for a few days. Met my great nephew yesterday, almost 6 months old and, of course, adorable. Happy boy. Going with 2 nieces and 2 great nephews to new homemade ice cream store and to the bookstore this afternoon. Brother just called and will see him this weekend. Nice to be out of the smoke!

US 2 from the other side of the mountains is still closing from time to time for removing burned trees, falling debris, etc. I drove the North Cascade Highway to Everett Tuesday and spent the night with BFF - about a 6-hour drive. That is a beautiful drive but there was smoke and leaves look dry and dead. Need rain!

Barbie, good plan! Martha, I love gumbo but love etouffee even more! Shirl, what a disappointment to have construction! Lyn, I hadn't thought about them raising Medicare again! Sheila, I have friends I met in Arizona who are from Jackson. He stayed in Arizona longer last spring because the altitude in Jackson is getting to him.

Off to have fun!

It's sunny and 87 here. I think it rained a little last night but it was mighty little. I burned some trash and boxes last night. I had to sit and watch the fire so I didn't set the pasture on fire. I think we are close to a burn ban being announced.

I made a quick trip to town this morning. One of the outside cats had a hot spot I have been putting medicine on for several days. Overnight he had licked it raw. I called the vets office to make an appointment. My vet is usually off on Thursdays so thought I would get an appointment tomorrow or Monday. They said they would see the cat if I could come in. I wasn't dressed but threw some clothes on and headed to town. I hope he stops licking the sore so I don't have to put him in a cage with a cone. I thought about picking up lunch at the deli but today is liver and onions. Nope!

Anita, I like étouffée too. Tomorrow's lunch at the deli is Crawfish Étouffée or Fried Catfish. Or you can get half and half of each. I might have to go get lunch. I never fry fish when they can do it so much better.

I don't think I will ever have to worry about construction going on down here. No one could afford the insurance and houses have to be elevated about 11 feet. I guess at some point I will have to move to town but I will not be happy. I look at all the new houses being built and would not like to live like that. They are so close together that if one catches on fire I don't see how the one next door wouldn't catch on fire too.

As far as I know my sister is on her way to Montana with her granddaughter. I wonder how my sister is going to do in the mountains with her breathing problems.

I've been really impressed with the person I've been seeing he is a nurse practitioner and seems to take time to listen...he called this morning and told me that the pulmonary test had come back no issues with the lungs... so he is requesting a heart test can't remember the name of it right now but it will come to me in a couple of hours..
what is entoulee? I'd love to have some cat fish haven't had any for so long...
I wish Anita that I could remember the name of the place we ate at down in old town Port Poubso so misspelled  there is a little diner there that if you like sauerkraut it is really good... but they are only open for BK and lunch close like 5 maybe and there is an ice cream store so good and the bakery but I think it is also in Port Angles did I mention we ate out a lot??? that ice cream store had one of the best banana splits I've had... didn't have it but sampled some of my dd's used real whip cream it helps if the ice cream is good as well  what was your friends name? probably won't know them but just in case?
I'm sure that I am going to start the I am so cold refrain any day if not today...
now I've forgotten what other's have said...
stir fry is so hard to make small as is soup and stews... normally when I make something like that I call niece and see if she wants to come get some... I try to have left over's not more than twice unless it's something I can freeze...
Shirl you will have to let us know what those Scottage pancakes are like... I tried something the other day called a Spanish fried egg... you put quite a bit of olive oil in a fry pan... carefully put eggs in and fry spooning some of the oil over the top of the eggs... I was afraid that the eggs would be oily but they weren't even put the oil in something so I can make them again it's fun to watch them bubble up it's something I will make again
you all have a great day
