Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday Morning

Postby JudyJB » Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:34 am

Going to be cooler this morning, here at the state park south of Portland--high of only 71 today, compared to 80 yesterday and 80 tomorrow. Temps are important to me right now because I do not get my new AC installed until Thursday. Old friend is going to pick me up at the RV dealer on Thursday and we'll go out for lunch. We had one of those terrific phone calls last night talking about adventurous women. She and I and two other ladies taught in the same community college part time way back in the mid-80s, but of the four, she and I were the only ones of our bunch who like to travel alone. Other two are too afraid. She also has traveled a lot, mostly to France way back then because she was able to get grants and financial help because she also taught French occasionally. I told her about some of the women I had met who also did adventurous things and the many women who could not believe we actually drove RVs ourselves without needing a man to help out!

I am up early but going back to bed in a few minutes. I got up and got two weeks in Zion for next April. Tried last night, but lost the race to hit the Submit button. That place is really, really hard to get into, but I got a site in the A loop which is paved and has electricity, plus is not too far from Visitor center and shuttles. Whew.

Also, Cheryl, I know all the broken things are aggravating, but at least your dealer and manufacturer is willing to fix things, and even travel to fix them. My original dealer refused to fix most of the warranty issues I had because they said I had broken things, and therefore it was all my fault!! Like I overloaded a drawer which caused it to slam into a cabinet and make a hole???? Or cause a piece of trim to fall off? Factory customer service fixed stuff, finally, but the dealer was really infuriating. (I had called factory service at Fleetwood, and they said there were no load limits on drawers!!)

Good Morning, Judy, great conversation you had about women RVing alone. I sure enjoyed my time on the road for 16 years.
Hooray about your Zion reservations. Keep going strong! Lyn

Judy, we'll have to get together again while you're back in this area. Our CG is usually super busy during that time, but I might be able to get you in for a night or two in the overflow area.

I just had to get hold of a guest who was supposed to check out today. They finally called back and thought they were leaving tomorrow. Luckily I was able to upgrade the people scheduled to check in to their room. I finished charging them for tonight and they called back to see if there would be a charge if they hurried back. I apologized and said the charge already went through. They were ok with it.

Time to walk Ty.

I cannot tell you how many people, nearly all women, am amazed that I can back up my rig by myself or "do all the hookups" by myself. One of the two of our group of four good friends told me that when I first started out, so I sent her a quick video of my opening the electrical compartment, pulling out the cord, and plugging it into the receptacle at a campsite. Took, what, 15 seconds? Then I sent her a similarly short video of my pulling out my water hose and hooking one end to the campsite water source and the other to the side of my motorhome!!

And the funny thing is that my independent friend who I talked to in Portland last night, said she was going to get her daughter to put on her new license plate!!

So, who is doing all this brainwashing about "technical" things like hooking up an RV and putting on a license plate being so difficult???

Don't answer that!

Good afternoon. Have had a busy day so far. Hurried up this morning and went to the hospital for my pulmonary function test. Well they moved my appt to the afternoon and forgot I guess to notify me. Oh well I was going to go grocery shopping after my appt but got to go before which worked out even better. It is always crowded in the afternoon. I need to shop more often that way I wont have so much sticker shock. Geez I spent $210 dollars but I did buy meat this time. They had lean ground beef in the family pack for $2.97 of course each pack, I bought 2, was almost $20 but I will divide and food saver them cause I know they are not going down in price. Stopped for gas after that geez $96 for 19 gallons. I used to fill my car for about $50 Came home and had some lunch then headed back over to the hospital (only 10 minutes away) for my 1:30 appt. It was not as gruesome a test as I thought it would be, but if I would have had to do it when originally scheduled last month I wouldnt have been able to. But I feel like I breezed thru it, now whether my results show that remains to be seen. She did say I was going to live LOL My pulmonologist appt isnt until Nov 24th and I dont even know with whom. RT said there are 4 pulmonologists, she called over there but there system is still down and has been for a while so they couldnt tell me. Technology sometimes a pain in the butt.
My stamina is getting better I had no problem touring the store (obviously), Just loaded up my basket with all sorts of foods LOL

tomorrow I have a drs appointment I am hoping that the results of the pulmonary test will be there... it would be nice to kinda have an idea of what is going on... I am feeling better don't get so winded
now I need to try to convince myself to try to do more it's just a pain dragging this hose around and getting it caught of something pulls you up short for sure...
my #3 daughter was going to come over so she could go to the drs appointment with me but she sent a text saying she had a bad head cold so wasn't coming she may feel well enough to come to the appointment with me...or meet me there at any rate...
you all have a great day

Was a pretty productive day today. I went thru my gourd stuff and got rid of quite a bit of stuff I had way too much of or just don't really need. I had 3 heat tools so I picked the nicest one and am donating the others. I had 114 paint brushes! :o . I pared them down to 42 which still sounds like a lot but there are different sizes, shapes, etc. and even tho I clean my brushes after using, sometimes they don't clean up too well and I have to toss them. I got the bins more organized and condensed stuff so I am using less bins, and got them all labeled. Just have a few left over things to go thru and that will be done with all that. Then on to the porch!! Hopefully, it will cool off a bit more this next week so I can get stuff done out there without dying from the heat. I can run the AC in there from the living room if I need to as long as it is cooler at night and I can get it started early in the morning. The porch shouldn't take too long. I have a couple bins of tools, hardware and misc stuff to go thru. A few more gourd things but those are mostly the gourds themselves and some larger tools like sander, carver, wood burner, etc. After that room, then the shed and deck...

Still hot and humid here! Just checking the forecast, it looks like next weekend will be in the mid 80's for highs and upper 60's for lows! Yay! I have Saturday off so I can work in the porch and be comfortable out there!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
