Cold Saturday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cold Saturday Morning

Good Morning. Resident Energizer bunny here  Karen, that comment gave me a laugh. I have been busy but nothing earth shattering. Was gone for a week of course and this past week I have been busy continuing on with the usual fall chores that need to get done before winter sets in. Winter did make a brief appearance yesterday, in the fact that we had snow showers in the morning for just a short bit. We didn’t even make it past 45° yesterday and currently it is 37 what’s the real feel of 30°. It is going to warm up though over the next few days again.
I don’t have much to do in my yard right now because I am waiting for the leaves to come down, but the pines are shedding now. . The fall color coming out fast and it is going to be beautiful, as evidenced by my neighbors maple tree across the road.I will be out driving around looking at the beautiful scenery in the next day or so.

I serviced my lawn tractor (oil/filter change, new air filter and general lubrication), plus installed part of my bagging system. Will put the rest on this week. Next up is snowblowers. Hostas are pulled out of a flower bed but the remaining plants are not totally dead yet. Before I left for my vacation I brought in my plants that I want to overwinter, so they are doing nicely in the house.

I will be a little busy once the leaves are coming down as not only am I doing mine, plus the POA entrance area which doesn’t get too bad, but I also will be doing my neighbors across the road from me. They have a winter home in Englewood, FL and their home was damaged by hurricane Ian, as well as their entire park. They left this morning to go down and usually they do not leave till the end of the month after he has a chance to get the yard and everything cleaned up. But right now Florida is more important. So I will use both his tractor and mine. They have a small yard so it shouldn’t be too bad and they don’t have as many trees as I do either. Fortunately their house is repairable and he can do a lot of it. It’s hard when you have that type of thing so far from where you are living. It’s just one big worry and they really want to get down here. We are going to leave the mail coming here for now until thty find out where they can have it sent to. Everything is in such a mess in that area. So once they are able to put a forwarding address in place I will send down whatever mail is here.

Also continuing to work on wood crafts and I am doing the ones for Thanksgiving right now. They will be going out at the end of this month after Halloween. I need to wrap my mind around Christmas ones now too, as it does take time to get all that done. Will post pictures once things are finished. Posted some pictures that I took in the UP while I was up there under General talk if anyone is interested.

But right now I guess it’s time to get moving and I need to give Piper her medicine for her UTI and get myself in gear here. I have been reading but not posting and I’m glad everyone seems to be doing OK. Pork roast seems to be on the agenda for a lot of you right now. I did an English cut roast yesterday and boy was it good. So I will wish you all a wonderful day and get busy here.

Good morning. Kind of chilly here but will warm up to 84, so chilly mornings and warm afternoons, yup I will take it for now. Still waiting for those cool days. Sweatshirt weather is my favorite.
Having my second cup of coffee then going to sort some stuff in my office, it is in total disarray. That third room just gets stuff put in it "for now" is my reasoning.
Sue, glad you say you dont have much to do, made me laugh after reading the rest of your post LOL LOL You have a pretty long list. Me, I have 2 or 3 things on mine to get ready for winter ha ha At least I dont have to shovel rain.
I have a question, why do you pull up your Hostas, are you removing them or is it something for winter???? I dont have any Hostas right now but might be getting some for the front of my house, we shall see.

Good morning, Sue, Karen & everyone checking in later,

Such beautiful fall colors, Sue! Thanks for sharing them with those of us who don't have them where we live.

I'm just popping in for a minute before things get even more hectic here than they are right now.

I've had quite a few visitors from KS lately which have kept me busy - along with French class (which is intense!) so I haven't kept up here much except to pop in occasionally.

Some of you are having great adventures - cruises, trips to Rome!, camping, getting ready to head to Mexico & of course - gardening & cooking ideas - I need to look at that site that has recipes for cooking for one. I love how this forum continues & seeing all the posts even if I can't read them daily.

Coming soon out here: a new baby due in a week, & I'm going to do a bit of contract work with my old organization (hope I can pick it back up without too much trauma). I guess God heard me pondering what to do with my free time. HA! He sure took care of that!

Hope you are all well.
Take care!

Good morning gals

Sue, aren't Hostas perennials? I had some neighbors in MN who had a lot of them and they would cut them back in the fall and the plants grew back beautiful in the spring. They just have to be thinned out occasionally.

Karen, I have a bad habit too, of saying "I'll just put this here 'for now'". It never seems to get put where it needs to (hense the mess I am dealing with now  ).

Our seasons are kind of backwards here with winter being the fun, outdoor season. So it is kind of "spring cleaning" time of year with airing out the houses, cleaning up the yards and planting flowers, and looking forward to spending time outdoors after being cooped up inside all summer.

Catherine, a new baby?? Didn't hear about that? Congrats on another grandchild!

I have become friends with a very accomplished gourd artist on FB. I absolutely love her work! She lives in northern CA. She saw my gourd on my FB page yesterday and loves it! Coming from her, that is a huge compliment and really made me feel better. I also thank all of you for your wonderful comments on it, as well!

We are supposed to have highs next week in the low 90's with lows in the low 70's which is better than it has been. Hopefully, it will keep heading down from there, especially the humidity. I need to start working on the porch, deck and shed soon, and just get the yard cleaned up.

I need to get up and make a WM run this morning. Then come back and get some general housework done around here before I head back to work tomorrow.

Enjoy your day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Afternoon All, Sue enjoyed your vacation. Thanks for sharing. No news here. Shelia, do any of your local grocery stories have curbside service. Mine will even deliver. You can sit at home, shop and place your order. I forgot to order celery with my last order so ran in Food Lion. When I looked at produce I realized my curbside produce is better than what was in the store. I think they fill my order from stock in their storage which is fresher. Call a local home heath service, explain you situation and ask if they offer any services via Medicare. Maybe an aide to do laundry. I think you help your mother mentally and physically by helping her to help herself. ((Hugs)))

Sue, it's hard to believe there is snow any where when it's still 90 here. We had a few cool nights but it was 70 last night. The low is suppose to be in the 50's for a few nights and rain Wednesday. I hate to say it but we need rain. I had to water my roses yesterday. Not doing much. I redid the fence I have around the front door because I got a different gate. People probably wonder why I have a fence around my front door. It's so I can separate the outside cats from the inside cats. The outside cats are trying to upgrade. Sometimes I don't want the inside cats going out.

The cattle festival is going on this weekend. One of the vets has a big Cook Off and adoption event today but I hate crowds. The festival is at what they call the red barn. I kind of doubt there is much going on since there isn't a street fair this year. I think there will be music later. The cattle men and women aren't involved in the cattle festival again. No one can stand the president of the festival comimitee and he has run the festival into the ground. If he will ever step down there are people that will take it over but no-one will deal with him. Politics!

Sheila, it's good that you let your mother do what she can. It's not good to just sit all the time. I need to start walking more if it will ever cool off. It's easy to get out of the habit.

I got ambitious this afternoon. Made some chocolate cupcakes, gave some to my neighbor. Then decided I would make meatball muffins. Made 12 so froze about 10 and will eat the two. I really like making them in the muffin tin. So drug out the food savor and voila they are in the freezer. Now going to make a caramel mocha and have a muffin!!!!!
