Busy Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Busy Friday

Good morning gals!

Was just reading about the devastation in Florida! :o Ft Myers was pretty much wiped off the map! So sad! My friend who lives in Crystal River now, used to live in Ft Myers and work on Sanibel Island. It was such a beautiful area and to think now of all the devastation and destruction there is so sad! They are saying there could be over 100 deaths by the time they go thru all the damaged areas.

Early yesterday morning around 5am, I woke up choking and coughing really bad! Took awhile to get over that and settle down. That was scary! :o Finally, I fell back to sleep and didn't wake up until 11am! I know that is a sign of sleep apnea. I called to make an appointment finally for the consultation. I left a message but haven't heard back yet. Will call again today.

I went thru about 8 small bins of books under my bed and ended up with most of them in the give-away pile :D . I called the library and they will take all of them. I discovered last night tho, that I missed one bin under the bed so I will go thru that this morning and be done with that. Then on to the clothes.

I work all day Saturday, Sunday, and Monday but then have Tues thru Fri off, so will have 4 days to get a lot more done. So far, my energy and motivation are staying strong! :D Hope it stays that way!

The temps and humidity are supposed to go down starting today so that will be good! Dewpoints were in the mid 60's yesterday!

Have a good day and stay safe!

Good morning, Barbie. I have been having this same kind of problem for quite a while now - along with feeling exhausted when first getting up in the morning, and generally feeling crappy and having an unpleasant cough most of the time.

I think I may have isolated this problem to my heavy consumption of dairy products (mostly milk and cottage cheese). As an experiment, I eliminated drinking milk for a couple of days and, wonder of wonders, these symptoms vanished and I was feeling quite good for the first time in a very long time indeed.

Thinking this couldn't possibly have been the milk (I have been a milk drinker all of my life) I again spent a day consuming my usual amount of milk.

All of the symptoms returned, the waking up choking with lung congestion in the middle of the night was definitely the worst.

Stopped milk again - maybe permanently this time :( (I quite like milk) and the symptoms again vanished and I am now feeling better than I have in months.

Barbie, I don't know if you consume dairy products, but if you do, eliminating them from your diet for a day or two (to see what happens) is probably a lot cheaper than a doctor visit. Of course, a doctor visit is always an easy option if a change in diet doesn't work out.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

Good morning. A wee bit chilly outside but will warm up to 79 this afternoon. I slept in this morning until 7am. Felt like I was behind most of the morning LOL I usually am up by 6. But got breakfast, and spiffed the kitchen. Need to vacuum another couple of rooms today. My vacuum is pretty heavy (didnt used to think so LOL) so a room or 2 does just perfect. Got my garbage out early this morning and a good thing too as he came an hour earlier than usual. Usually comes at around 11 but came at 10 today. I took it out about 9 so I was good.

Ribs for dinner again tonight. They turned out really good. Slow cooked them in the oven. Might make some potato salad to go with them today. Then will freeze the rest.

Anne I used to drink alot of milk but got away from it maybe 20+ years ago. I have just recently started drinking a few glasses each day and it tastes very good. I was told to drink milk to help with the calorie intake and calcium. They told my friend Jerry who is going thru radiation now to also drink milk. Maybe it is a miracle cure we dont know about LOL

I need to make a run to the thrift shop this week. I have quite a few clothes that were given to me after the fire that I dont even wear so time to be donated.
I am going to sort out my bathroom cupboard and drawers also. I just put stuff in there that came out of my RV like towels etc So since I got really nice ones after the fire as gifts etc I am going to also donate the other ones. Wish me luck, I really dont want to even have a hint of hoarding LOL

I have been checking on cousins who live in Florida. One I know got completely missed by the hurricane. Her brother and his wife, however, live south of Sarasota, and I heard from them. They were lucky because the storm was mostly north of them, and they had no damage to their house, other than a lot of branches and trash in their yard. The other two cousins live on the east coast, but I think the hurricane was mostly north of them also.

I really slept well last night, in spite of a lump on my left arm where I got the COVID shot--no achyness, anyway. Fell asleep about 1 am and only woke up briefly a couple of times. Finally woke up for good at 11 am, feeling very good. Sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night, I will be up for hours until I can get back to sleep.

Thinking about what I can do here. Need to drive west to Sequim on Monday to pick up some Amazon packages and a prescription. Tempted to take the Port Angeles ferry to Victoria, BC, to visit the gardens there. Might make a separate trip on Tuesday or Wednesday because if I go, it will need to be an early in the day ferry. Did it aboyt 25 years ago, but would like to go again.

I drink a lot of milk. I gave it up for a while thinking it might be contributing to my IBS, but since I got that problem solved, I am back to drinking milk and it gives me no problems. By the way, there has been a lot of research on when various civilizations became milk-tolerant. Mostly, groups became milk-tolerant a couple of hundred years after they started farming and raising animals. Most groups became cheese-tolerant first, then milk-tolerant, and they can trace this and migrations of these groups thoughout Europe and Asia.

Milk has always been a problem for me... From childhood on. I try to limit all dairy, but do love my cheeses and ice cream. For the years I was making my own ice cream I was using coconut milk and most of my nasty symptoms went away. Now I try to limit myself.

Ouch!! It has been 36 hours since I got my booster shot, and I now have a 1" in diameter red lump on my arm. Still no achy feelings or fever, but this is the biggest lump I have received after any of my shots. Going to take some Aleve or something to try to calm it down and prevent aches later tonight.

Glad I decided to wait a couple of weeks to get my flu shot. The pharmacist said I could get both at the same time, but I am glad I do not have lumps for two shots instead of just the one I have!

Good evening!

I used to drink tons of milk! I always had milk and went thru a half gallon in a couple days. I kind of lost interest in it a year or two ago and rarely buy it unless I need it for cooking. Haven't had any for a couple weeks now. I don't like to buy it too often because it goes bad before I drink or use it all.

I am pretty sure I have sleep apnea since I found out last February, when I was at the gourd festival in AZ and had a roommate there, who told me I snore really loud and then would stop suddenly before gasping for air and snoring again. This time it just woke me up choking for air. I did get an appointment for next Wednesday afternoon for the consultation.

I finished sorting the last bin of books and then started on my clothes. I got rid of a lot of those too. And most of my dress shoes which I haven't worn in years! :o So my bedroom is done. My living room is full of bins of books, clothes, etc. I will be working the next 3 days so I won't be able to bring in all of it for donation until next Tuesday.

I thought my toaster oven died last night but it turns out that a couple of outlets in my kitchen are no longer working. I checked the fuse box today and one switch was moved over a little so I moved it back and checked again but they are still not working. Moved my toaster oven to the other side of the kitchen and it works fine there. Will have to figure out what the problem is since I rely on those two outlets for other things. Always something!

I am tired now and have taken a short nap. Will just watch a little TV and go to bed early. I have a long 9 hour day tomorrow at work.

Soos's son had some damage at his home in FL and a tree landed on his boat but otherwise they are OK. No word yet on how her house in Orlando fared.

Remember to say "RABBITS!" tonight or tomorrow morning!! Tomorrow is the first of October!

Barbie you cant just move the breaker switch back. You have to flip it all the way off, usually to the left, then back, that resets it.

Barbie, Make sure you don't have one of those GFCI outlets somewhere. I have one in my bathroom and when it trips, it shuts down several of my outlets in my living room of my RV. You can also have one in a home.

Also, good that you are checking for sleep apnea. Those of us who live alone seldom have anyone who can tell us if we snore or wake up from choking. I did ask my son to check me a couple of times when I spent the night at his house, and he said I was fine.

Thanks for the tip on the switch. I will try that in the morning. I have never seen one just halfway tripped before.

Yeah, Lola never complained about my snoring or even told me about it, so I didn't know until my roommate told me. :D

GFCI are not just a "can" have but required by code in all homes in certain locations, such as bathroom. One per circuit (a circuit may have multiple outlets on it). A year or so ago my handyman blew a circuit and we spent 2 days trying to figure out why we could not power it. I spent hundreds of $$ having him replace various GFCI, as I learned they do have a lifespan, and eventually need to be replaced. Still lights out in my room. Then I crawled under Mel's old desk, and for reasons I can't explain, other than the fact that 2 outdoor outlets are on same circuit, there it was tripped. Reset that GFCI and lights back on. So, you may find an extra GFCI in an unexpected place, depending on how many circuits you have. Agree with others who said, flip the GFCI completely off, then back on to reset.
Barbara, I'm puzzled why, if you knew last February you have apnea, why you havent had a sleep study yet? Apnea can result in such fun side effects as tiredness, elevated BP, and most fun- a heart attack! It's not something to fool with!
Happy October everyone.
