Feeling better

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Hurricane Wednesday!

Postby BarbaraRose » Wed Sep 28, 2022 12:25 pm

Good morning gals!

Hope all of you in Florida and along the east coast are on alert and have a safe plan! Cat 5 Ian is making landfall soon!

Just hanging out in bed before I get up and get ready for work later. Romeow slept on the dresser keeping an eye on Karma the fish all night! Silly cat! Now there is plenty of room up there for him to hang out.

Nothing new here yet...

Have a good day and stay safe!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Feeling better

Postby SoCalGalcas » Wed Sep 28, 2022 12:41 pm

Good Morning everyone. I wanted to check in with you all and tell you how much better I am feeling. My doctor started me on a new medication the 23rd, and it has worked wonders. There were about five pages of signs to watch for when taking this medication, but I have had no problems. I am amazed at how much better I feel.
Yesterday I went out on my scooter for a joy ride. First time in ages. Went to the harbor and ogled the super yachts. Coming home I ran into a friend Ihaven’t seen in ages. In fact I thought she had moved. I couldn’t believe my eyes. She had a different dog with her, and she told me the story of how she lost the dog I knew. Her story was heartbreaking.
My little GGS 4 months old was rushed to ER last night. He has a hernia and it couldn’t be reduced. He and his Mom spent the night in the hospital. He will have surgery today.
I have put in an alplication to adopt a dog. Up dates when availabil.

Lyn, it's so good to hear from you! I'm so glad to read that you are feeling so much better. Like Barbie, I'm curious if you told your daughter about you trying to adopt a dog and wish you the very best. Keep on doing what you're doing.

Barbie, that is so funny about Romeow sleeping on the dresser. Lol!

We got wonderful news this morning that Hurricane Ian changed course and we would not be getting a direct hit that was forecast for us yesterday. The storm will go south of us and head northeast to Daytona Beach, where my sister lives. We're still getting lots of gusty winds and rain from time to time, but the worst of the storm won't be until late tonight and tomorrow. I'm hoping there won't be any damage when we get up tomorrow. We'll be staying in the casita until the storm has left as we'll feel safer in here.

Lyn I know the relief you feel when you feel so much better. I too am feeling much better. Just working my way up in the stamina dept. So far so good. I have an appetite now so hoping that I continue to gain weight. So far 3lbs. Wahoo

Keeping my eye on the hurricane as I have lots of friends in Florida on travel nurse assignments and a few that live there. Some of our RV sisters live there too so hope everyone comes out of it with only minimal or no damage.

Wow, Karen & Velda, and I'm sure there are lots of other states helping Florida. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! The winds have picked up and are roaring but we still have power. For that I am grateful. The gulf coast of FL is having historic rainfalls and storm surges never seen before. Fortunately, this was predicted early on and there were lots of mandatory evacuations south of Sarasota. Many gas stations are low on fuel. We fueled up both of our vehicles this weekend, so we're good to go. If we do lose power, we will relocate into the motorhome and use the generator, but not until Ian is well out of here.

Irmi I'm glad the storm course has changed for you! Sending (((hugs))) because I can imagine it has been a very scary few days. I have dear friends in Ft Myers and I'm really anxious as I haven't heard if they evacuated or not.
The weather has definitely changed here we are now having low seventies in the day and low 40's in the mornings. What a relief, now if we would just get some rain. I can't remember the last rain other than a few sprinkles here and there. Out grass is brown and crispy and the ground is really hard. The surrounding farm area has received some rain so hopefully the crops are not in real distress.
Barbie I wish I had something that would entertain my dogs other than the deer that they bark at so much. Sounds like you have made good progress in getting organized. I have good intentions but that hasn't done much good.
Karen, I'm so happy to hear you are feeling better and getting your strength back.
I had a much needed massage today and feel so much better, especially my shoulders.
The discussion the other day about grocery shopping was interesting. I went to the Schnucks store Sunday instead of the smaller Coop we usually shop at. There were no small carts available so I tried one of the large ones, it was huge. I made it about 50' and abandoned it. I crossed off most of my short list and bought only what I could carry.

BJ, some of the stores around here have a few half-sized carts which I like better if I am not doing a ton of shopping. Those really big carts are heavy and hard to push around.

my eldest daughter prefers the smaller grocery carts and boy can she pack it full... me I prefer the large carts even if it's just for me... I put my purse in the child seat and buckle it in... feel safer with it that way... I think other than being able to sit down using the electric scooter/cart is harder to reach and put the groceries in and take out... but wasn't up to walking around the store... guess I've gotten pretty lazy... there has been a couple of those bins (the ones you bring home from the hospital or used to)setting on the shelve in the bathroom I've been wanting for ever to go through it.. and either toss or whatever needed to be done with it and put a bin with mom's depends so easier to get to if needed... so did that today some of it was packages of bandages so went into the bin marked for first aide... if wasn't full tossed stuff that isn't being used or old or not flowing 3 bottles of wood glue tried squeezing it didn't flow but admittedly I didn't try very hard mom's hair dye she hasn't done that for 10 years I'm betting something out dated in 85 it was dried up too...
Lyn so glad that you are feeling better and it's it what daughter doesn't know yet won't hurt her?? I hope you find the perfect pup for you ... glad you are feeling better Karen
other than that a lazy day and the kitchen shows it...
got to work on it tomorrow and have my pulmonary test to go to
you all have a great day

Hoping those of you in Florida are doing OK with the hurricane and flooding concerns. The storm surge along the gulf coast is awful!

I stopped after work at Home Depot to pick up a piece of plexiglass and a new toilet seat. I have 3 overhead lights in my kitchen that have plexiglass sheets covering flourescent lights, but the plexiglass has turned a dark yellow/orange over the years so I took it down. I got new white plexiglass to replace them but I need to cut it into three pieces to fit. It is clear so I got some frosted patterned window film to put on them. Another project to get done in the next couple days off. Also, I had gotten a soft cushy toilet seat when I first moved in here but now it has cracks in it, so I just got a replacement for it. That won't take long to put on tho.

Tomorrow will go thru the rest of the books under my bed and then go thru my clothes and shoes. That should keep me busy all day.

Romeow has taken up his spot on the dresser to watch the fish tank for the night.
