Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday

Postby Othersharon » Tue Sep 13, 2022 11:27 am

Good morning! At least I think it’s Tuesday! Days seem to blend together for me anymore. I spent yesterday making calls to places I’ve been waiting for callbacks. So frustrating to me that people don’t bother to return calls. Doesn’t seem like a very good business practice or maybe it’s just me. House painters did get ahold of me yesterday to tell me they can start Thursday. I’m happy even though my checkbook won’t be! And the good news is that we are supposed to be in a drier pattern from all this rain we’ve had. I needed to go into State College yesterday and waited until late afternoon to do my errands. Made it to Sam’s Club to renew my membership but Wal Mart was really busy so I decided to skip that and leave it for a different day! Still needed to stop at the grocery store here but the rain started to really come down so just came home! A couple way of times I thought I’d need to pull off the road. Wipers were having a hard time keeping up with it. At least it cleaned the layer of dust off the car! They are tearing down the old building near me and the dust flies when everything dries out! Tina, interesting reading about your doctor change. I’ve gotten more critical about doctors I see anymore. I’ve been fortunate that it hasn’t been a huge problem but has come up a couple of times fairly recently. Been wishing we could share some of our rain and cooler temps with you ladies out west. I think fall has come here! Just waiting for the leaves to start falling. Well, sorta waiting anyway! At least it gets me out and moving! So my days will be busy in the next few weeks. Glad I didn’t plan on camping in Benezette this season. I almost thought I’d be able to try to go in the next week or two but guess it won’t happen now. Poor Lola has only been out the one time when I joined Cheryl in May but so glad I did at least that. Well, suppose I should get busy and get a couple of things done. Still need to run to the store so need to get that out of the way. Hope you all have a good day and stay safe.

Hi Sharon and all that follow~~~

Back in Indiana since Sunday. Had a 6am appointment at the TT manufacturer this morning, made at the rally, because my slide "needs some love". They're also going to fix a wood panel that popped the staples, which unplugged the heated/ massage recliners. Glad I only have a 2 hour drive when I leave here. Punkin's been a trooper, sitting in the truck, then the waiting room, then a walk. I want to get this done, but I'm tired of sitting. In the meantime, its drizzling again.

That's it from me. I do see the start of fall colors here in Elkhart. Love it, but not enough to stay north.

We have nice clean air this morning and 72° sunny skies.Mosquito fire smoke is blowing almost straight east, towards Tahoe and then Reno. Sorry for my Reno friends. Fire is almost 50,000 acres but containment now 18%.
Today is gather trash and get cans to street, which I will have to do as Chris's feet are still blistered and tender from his walk barefoot to mailbox last Thursday when it was100°!!!
I have some calls to make and other things to do here. Class shortly for our monthly throwback ( the stamp company gets requests for stamps retired years ago, but which people see others use, so monthly they choose one and revamp and have remade and offer for just 3 days a older desig.) it's always fun and a way to pick up a new fun design.
No other excitement here today!
Have a good day! Pray for rain for the west!

Cheryl, hope the factory can get you fixed up.

I picked up my computer yesterday and managed to get everything hooked back up and running. I need to label some of these cords before I unhook it again. Went to Walmart but I will have to make another grocery run before Thursday. I haven't decided what to bring in case we have a potluck this weekend. I haven't started my list yet either.

I am cooking the chicken and mushrooms again, this time with double the mushrooms. I just can't leave a recipe alone so things never come out the same.

I might go try to mow in Maurice this afternoon or tomorrow. We are suppose to have dry weather until Saturday. It's only 85.

Stinky and Charlie have learned how to tell me what they want. They come meow at me and lead me to what they want. Charlie either wants me to feed him or let him out. I give him caned food in a cage so the other cats don't eat it. Stinky wants me to let Charlie out of his cage so she can eat his leftovers.

Good morning gals!

Have done a few little things around here already. Fell asleep last night around 9pm and woke up around 7am. My back feels better this morning after using a heating pad over night. I think being so busy on Sunday without a break all day didn't do it any good.

I weighed Romeow this morning and he is 9.4 pounds! :o His paper work from the shelter says he weighed 5.25 pounds when he came in in June. Yep! He is definitely still a growing kitten! He isn't fat at all and the paperwork says he came in healthy so he wasn't underweight then. He was smaller and lanky when I got him. He is just filling out a lot. I am thinking maybe about 9 months old, give or take. They told me 2 years old. Doesn't matter to me tho.

Sunny today and only 86* right now! Dewpoint is still fairly high at 65* but lower than it has been. Hopefully, that will keep dropping.

Need to find my drill so I can drill the holes in the gourd to finish my spirit doll. I also forgot I need to sand and repaint the head since the clear coat bubbled up from the heat when I had it outside last week to dry. I decided not to put the doll hair on it and just leave it painted black. I think that will look better with the feathers I am putting on it.

Sandi, I miss your paintings and postings! Would love to see and hear more of what you've been doing! You've been too quiet lately :(

I lost the app on my phone for the laundry service so I need to find out what it is and get it back on my phone so I can attempt to do my laundry finally!

So sad about the terrible fires all over the west, especially the Mosquito Fire. Those in the smoky areas, stay inside and safe!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Hi Barbie and everyone. I appreciate your asking Barbie. I’m here. I’m anxious to see the gourd you’re working on now. My life has been very boring the last few months. I’m hoping to do some more painting soon if I can come up with some good ideas.

I did get some good news by text last night from Tesla. It’s been 2 months since I placed my order and apparently the car will be delivered in the next couple weeks. I’m ready for its arrival. I had a wall charger installed in my garage which will keep me from having to go to charging centers unless traveling (which I have no plans for at the moment). The rest of my time the last few days has been reading the manual and watching videos that Tesla provides. Things are so different with Tesla’s EVs. I’ve never had to study before when getting a new car! I even typed up some notes yesterday. I hope I can remember everything.

The other thing on my mind lately is the ablation procedure I’m scheduled for on October 27 for my atrial fibrillation problem. I have to admit I’m terrified after reading about how it’s performed. Apparently I’ll have to stay overnight for observation and then will be released the next day if all goes well. So I guess getting the Tesla before the procedure is a good thing to help keep my mind from wandering and thinking scary things.

We’re having less smoky air in my area today from the fires in the Sierras. That’s about it from me. I hope everyone is doing well. I love reading what you’re all doing.

It has taken me two days to get to Atlanta, but I am finally here. The short story is they woke me up Monday at 5:30 am with a message that my 2pm flight was delayed until 4:45 pm. Then another message that it was delayed until 6:00 pm. This meant I would miss my connecting flight in DFW, so I called and there were not many options because few planes leave Eugene. So, I decided to take the delayed flight and spend the night in Dallas, then take a morning flight to atlanta. Made it to DFW by 11:45 pm, and had to line up to get a coupon for a free hotel night, taxi both ways, and a meal in the morning at the airport. All the text messages and driving 140 miles to Eugene had me exhausted.

Had a choice of hotels like Super 8 and Comfort, so I chose Comfort Suites, but did not get there until after 1 am. Exhausted but bed not comfortable and only got about an hour of sleep, so changed my 8:30 am flight to 10:30 am. Made it to Atlanta at 1:30 pm, picked up car, and drove to Johns Creek where I checked into Hampton Inn. Ate some dinner and will be headed to take a shower and try to sleep tonight. Will go and check on aunt tomorrow. Need to talk to two new head nurses and see who is running the place since the administrator was fired a few weeks ago.

More tomorrow, but I am really worn out, as you might guess.

Sandy, I'm excited about you getting your Tesla. Hugs for your procedure going smoothly.

Temps dropped here today. Rains came in yesterday and overnight the rain continued with temps cooling. Took till late this afternoon to see some sun. In the midst of it all I was calling maintenance this morning because our water pressure dropped. I got no help until I called that a guest couldn't flush his toilet. Long story short, yes, it was a city water problem, but it was maintenances job to figure it out. I did. And the city called me when it was fixed shortly before 6. This is the same person that got mad at me for changing a lightbulb because I should have called maintenance, not handling what I needed them to handle. So I'm still thinking about whether I'll come back next year. Weighing it from all sides.

Barbie, I'm glad you got a good night's sleep!

I read everyday and apologize that I haven't been commenting often. I'm just glad you're all posting.

Went to the library to drop off books and pick one up. Stopped at DQ for lunch and then to the other WM by my house to pick up a few things, and back home. I got a new pair of PJ's with cute camping designs on it. Now I can get rid of my other PJ's I don't like.

I have an icon on my mini-split with 3 water drops. I assumed it had something to do with getting rid of humidity but the manual didn't say anything about it, so I Googled it today. It is for getting rid of humidity but it can't be used at the same time as the AC. So I got my room cooled off real good and then tonight turned it to the "dry" option. So far it is still 78* in here, so I am hoping it will get some of the humidity out of here by morning without me getting too warm my then. Am doing the same with the one in the living room. It is just so sticky in here! :o

I sanded and repainted the head (hair) of the doll but added a paint thickener and texture paste and then "combed" the paint to look like hair. It turned out pretty good! Then sprayed it with a finishing lacquer. Found my drill and will use that tomorrow and hopefully get her finished before I go to work! I got an idea to add some beads to the feathers and found some in my stash of supplies in the right color that will work perfectly! (I have a mini Hobby Lobby in my living room!  ). I wanted to label more drawers and re-label the ones I did earlier with larger print, but I can't find the new label cartridge I just bought. I know it is around here somewhere. They are expensive so I don't want to have to go buy another one. I will use post-it notes before I do that.

I have the afternoon shift tomorrow so I can sleep in a little, if I want. :D

Judy, I hope you get caught up on your sleep soon! All your running around is wearing me out, so I can just imagine how worn out you must be!

Got about 10 hours of sleep last night---finally!! Went to visit aunt and she was happy to see me and very pleasant. (This is compared to last time I visited her when she was angry at me and accused me of all sorts of things before lunch. I left for two hours at lunch to run some errands and let her calm down, and when I came back she was apologetic and pleasant again.) She stayed pleasant all day, except toward the end, she got insistent that she needed to go and visit her husband, but did not know where he was, so she wanted to ask the staff to help her. She thought maybe I could drive her there. Only problem is that he passed away two years ago and gets upset when reminded of this.

Spent most of the day showing her photos on my laptop and trying to distract her. I ran out at lunch and picked up some things she needed, such as wipes and kleenex and some knee high stockings. I stayed for dinner, and then left afterwards. Tomorrow, I am going to go through some of her drawers to try to find her watch. I will just stay until early afternoon and then head for a hotel near the airport since I have a very early flight on Friday.

I also got a chance to talk to the new facility administrator, the assistant head nurse, and the occupational therapist. Last time I tried to do that, they were all busy, so I got some good information. Whew!!
