Saturday September 3

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday September 3

Morning All, another sunny day. Getting nervous about potential storms brewing in the Atlantic. It’s that time of year. Since it is a long holiday weekend I have no plans. Road outside my window is busy with traffic probably locals trying to get groceries at the Safeway store. I checked traffic cam and traffic is that slow moving roll heading home from the beach. Shelia do hope your plans come together for a great cruise. I ask #2 daughter, the yard sale queen to look for someone’s great Aunt Bessie’s pretty bowl to sit a house plant in. Need a high plant stand or stool for a Boston Fern to tuck in a corner. I didn’t sing or dance yesterday but did eat ice cream. Be safe

Heading into another HOT September day. Staying inside. Nothing exciting here. So far, firefighters have gotten to most new fires and corralled them before they became major, but, as Anne said, Weed CA just east of I5, near Mt Shasta, is in trouble again as they were in 2014, and the same homes rebuilt after that are gone again! Winds 35mph today are not helping. I'm pretty impressed with our new fleet of Firehawk choppers with their ability to drop water, land and let off crew of FF then go up, suck more water and be back on fire in minutes. Then after dark, instead of stopping and being grounded at refill base, they just keep going with their night vision capability. Traditionally all aircraft for fires are grounded at dark.
Hopeful that predictions are right and by a week from today, the HOT subsides and we head towards cooler weather- in upper 90's. And we could sure use rain- humidity yesterday was 17%!
Stay safe everyone.

Good afternoon gals.

I posted yesterday on my community FB page about the laundry situation. On guy offered to meet me there on Monday and walk me thru it. I may have to call him every time I do laundry! :?

I ended up watching TV and working on the doll gourd project. Not a good idea to paint after dark since the lighting in my living room isn't real bright. I painted part of it dark blue instead of black. Will have to go over it with a coat of black later.

Long day at work today. Ugh! My back already hurts and I still have 5 hours to go! Been pretty steady so far today. I think sitting is worse on my back than standing. I picked up a travel pillow to put behind me on the chair when I sit between haircuts.

Break time is over. Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, I use those machines at the park I stayed last winter (and will be this winter) and had problems a couple times. I finally got the hang of it and appreciated them after that. I especially liked that I could look on the app and see if machines were available. Hopefully this guy will be able to help you.

Scary about the fires. I can't imagine being any of the people who rebuilt and are losing their homes again.

I might be crazy, well we know I'm crazy, but I'm considering coming back here next year. We shall see.

Beth, if you decide to return next year I hope you have more control over who you work with. The unpleasantness with the housekeeper was the only downside to what sounds like a good fit for you.
You had better temperatures than a lot of the country. Good luck

I'm totally shocked Beth.... but you and you alone know what you need and or want to do...
Judy if possible the goal is to allow mom to be in her own home for the duration... however that may not be possible ... because I'm widowed and on my own I was the logical person to be volunteered to the position my thought was that I would be there in the summer and be able to go to Q for the winter thinking that two of my brothers could have her split time with them (hoping mom would be ok with half time at home) how ever the brother (just younger than me) started having blood issues as a result of his treatment for a blood cancer bone marrow was replaced what ever that term is .... and he died in March... next brother (who is the one that gives me respite) lives 3 hours away has a handicapped daughter where they need to take her to get treatments every 6-8 weeks they have to go to SLC for those which is about 6 hours away from their house... for mom it's actually a good place to be because it's easier for her to get around but she feels that she is a burden to them due to my niece... in actuality she isn't if she wasn't ambulatory well it would be different but that 4 day period is a problem... my dd had said she will go over to take care of mom when that time comes around which is a 5 hour trip for her two mt passes in the winter can be problematic... now that she has bought a house I think she would like to have grandma come to her but we haven't talked it over YET...so on to third brother he is widowed had knee replacement and needs work on his total right arm from shoulder to elbow with a pinch nerve to carpel tunnel plus he is a guy on his own if his wife was still alive she would all be for helping... youngest is my sister lives in Vegas and quite frankly can't get around as well as mom and she has a son that she enables living a home that can make life not pleasant if he doesn't want them there... it would be actually the worst place for her to be... so now you have the nitty gritty... in all likely hood I ought to just give in and not bug others except for the occasional trip or need.... but agree I wish that they had just come and gotten mom early this week but it's not happening... and hopefully I will feel great for the up coming cruise... thank you all for your best wishes... I am not sure I've expressed that or if I have it doesn't hurt to express it again....
that said my day was just sleeping the afternoon away I will be glad when that finishes... I feel asleep during the pod cast that I couldn't hear... so didn't get scriptures done as that was part of the study that I was doing...
afghan is done and in the car
you all have a great night

I can see why you are the logical person, Sheila, but it sounds like you need an occasional break. Hopefully, someone can help out.

I made pie dough this morning, and then went to my son's house after lunch. Spent a couple of hours in the pool, just relaxing and enjoying the water, then got out and with son's help cutting up vegetables, made pasties for all of us. Son's and DILs had to be turkey, but I made the ones for me and the kids with beef. Kids have never had them, but both ended up really enjoying them, so that was good. They are teens now, so finally growing out of their being so picky, as they were when they were younger. Makes cooking for them easier, to say the least.

Had son take me to Home Depot after dinner and then home. I wanted to look for a shorter grab bar that I could install along the edge near the door of my shower, which is the only place there is some wood backing to screw it to. I am afraid to use the ones that just stick on because the shower walls are so flimsy. Anyway, I found one that even my son thinks will work. (He tends to be in a he-knows-best mode, so I was glad he agreed with me.) It is 9" long and had small screw-on attachment pads that will fit along the door. Basically, with my falling on my right knee twice this summer, and my getting older, I need something to grab onto as I get into the shower, especially since i have to step up 8" to get into the shower.

Going to be 98 tomorrow and 105 on Monday, so going to spend late afternoon in pool and have dinner with son's family again tomorrow.
