Friday September 2

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday September 2

Postby Shirlv » Fri Sep 02, 2022 9:15 am

Morning All. Another less humid day. Tried to put a plastic container in a bin on top shelve and most of bin tumbled on the floor. So most went in the trash. The house plants seem to like the wicking system. I like it too, don’t need more stress in my life. Lol. A holiday weekend so will be heavy beach traffic and hopefully the last. Looking forward to spending more time with family. In the mood to declutter but not sure what clothing to keep with such unpredictable. Wish I had something interesting to post but I stay in my bubble and try to think pleasant thoughts. Everyone eat a dish of ice cream, smell a rose, sing a song, dance around the room, buy a bouquet of flowers at the grocery store and be safe

Hi Shirl & all!

Shirl, the last sentence of your post made me smile. Sheila, I'm so glad you're home and getting ready for the cruise.

It's 88 degrees and we have a 50% chance of afternoon showers, but somehow most of the showers have missed us. Tampa got 3" yesterday and we got four one hundredth of an inch. We have a pork loin roast on the Egg which will turn into pulled pork later. I just cut up half a head of cabbage for coleslaw and will make devilled eggs as another side. My kitchen or anyone else's is my favorite room of the house.

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

Good morning/afternoon, everyone! I've been scurrying around, getting cats chicken prepared and Stormy wanted some beef, so I fixed that and fed it to her. Mandy is munching her chicken. Last week she wanted only Fussie Cat smoked tuna, this week she wants a raw chicken leg! A old lady gets what she wants here! Suzie birds fresh fruit bowl is ready for Chris to put in the cage. So, now it's my turn and I'm drinking my morning elixir (electrolytes etc). Some days I feel like an office manager, dietician, pharmacist assistant, and today need to add laundry person. Got third notice that Chris's Dr had not responded to refill requests so meds being cancelled, even though I reminded Dr office two weeks ago! I need to make us dermatology appointments with the Dr who took over when our Derm Dr of nearly 30 years retired. Also follow up on sleep study my Dr was supposed to have ordered for me and I haven't heard from yet, and request pulmonary Dr see me first.
We are on way to supposedly slightly less HOT day today, after yesterday's 108! I need to finish here and head to Curves then stop at store for few things .
Stay cool if you ate hot and safe of course.

My friend Ginger and I (and Ty) are watching Beau, my housekeepers dog. She left Sunday for England and her mother's funeral, to return this Wednesday. We took a longer walk than Beau is used to and he's exhausted lol Tuesday Ginger leaves so Ty and I will have Beau then. Right now he visits us in the office but has been sleeping in his bed in Ginger's room. Ty will be frustrated with me on Sunday because I have 6 rooms to clean after continental breakfast and the checkouts are gone. I've enlisted Ginger to help. :)

Irmi, I also grinned at Shirl's last line. We should all do that all the time. Then I smiled that your favorite room is the kitchen especially when you added anyone's kitchen.

Sheila, please continue getting better. You need to enjoy your cruise!

&*%$#*&!!!!! and &^%**%$#!!!!!

Ooooh am I PO'd!

Finally went to do my laundry and put my clothes into 2 washers. I decided to try the app again to pay for it. Well, I couldn't get signed in because it wouldn't recognize me at first. Finally it signed me in but said I didn't have enough funds to pay for it so I went to add more money and it wanted my credit card info all over again, (numbers and 3 digit code). Well I don't know that by heart! This was like 15 minutes later by this point in a laundry room that is pushing 100* (and pushing my patience!). So I gave up and drove back to get my trusty quarters instead. I go back with them to the laundry room and go to put the quarters in and guess what??? :o They put in all new machines that no longer take quarters. You have to use the app or forget doing laundry! I was livid and soaking wet with sweat by that point so I just pulled all my laundry out of the machines and gave up. I am SO pissed! I am sure I am not the only person in this park who is techno-challenged. I refuse to stand there every week for 20 minutes trying to get the damn app to work while it is hotter than blazes in there!

So I will just bring some of my work pants and shirts to work tomorrow and do a load in the shop washer and dryer. My neighbor (who just got the brunt of my rant  ) has a cleaning lady who does her laundry for her so I told her I would pay her to do mine if she can figure out how to use the app. She has just been using quarters too. I know there are quite a few older people here who don't even know how to text on their phones so I am sure they won't be happy about this either.

So I am now trying to cool down and dry myself off. Will take a shower later. Was gonna take out the trash too but I am in no mood to even step a foot outside again (116*). I think once I calm down, I will start working on my gourd project. Maybe I should take a nap first :?

OK. Rant over... :(
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Oh, Barbie, that sounds just like the parking meters they put in here in town! I've only used one once, but it was a joke and there are lots of complaints! Thank goodness for the free shuttle!

Beth, I have so enjoyed your photos. Glad you have had company and things are more positive workwise. Sheila, hope you are feeling better and I think the cruise is just what you need to relax and take care of yourself.

My hibiscus has finally bloomed - I think it was 'operator error' that other buds didn't make it. Too much sun and heat. Saw granddaughter had posted on Instagram wearing hospital garb so texted her. That poor girl can't win (this is the one with Crohn's). Had an MRI and has other issues, but is now being treated at the Mayo Clinic. Had the best text chat with her. Then had a brief text chat with Kansas grandson who has applied with the Peace Corps to teach science and math in Africa - interview upcoming.

Still have heat and smoke. Everyone be safe!

part of me has been wishing that my brother would just come and get mom so I didn't need to worry about fixing meals or having the energy to help her with a bath.. or worry that I am sleeping too much and not aware of what she may need... I got a text from him that sorta sounded like they could come get mom as much as I was hoping it I also wonder if mom will just worry about me if she can't check up on me... and alass that wasn't what he meant just that they will come get mom before the cruise... on Thursday  oh well at least I don't have to worry about that... hopefully I will pack well enough last time because I only packed 1 pair of pants (she even wore pj's up) and quite frankly that is her chosen clothing so I packed what I thought she would need lots of pj's  heard not only from sister in law but from mom about it :( wasn't overly happy
guess what???? the crocheted afghan is finished all except trimming the fringe or figuring out how to get one safety pin out.... :? :? I'll take a picture and send it to Beth...
woke up this morning all stuffed up had a lot of crustyness in my nostrils wonder how long I wasn't get full benefit of the oxygen??? felt somewhat off kilter so hoping that when I go to the doctor he will say I don't need it I wish that they had sent home with me either a ???? meter to see what my oxygen level is but without the name I have a hard time of getting one.... maybe one of the girls will help me tomorrow... guess three of my daughter's will be here eldest to work on the condo basically moving stuff back in and my next two dd's to help out their sister.... I had planned on making some butter rolls to try them and to fix something for those helping I doubt that I will feel up to it...
had to laugh at my 2nd born grandma and I were eating they were about to leave told me leave the dishes for eldest sister not happening although mom took both plates I followed with my glass and small bowl...
you all have a great day

Sheila, I am not sure, but I think from your postings that your mother has a large family. I also don't know in what physical condition the others are or what their family limitations are, but it seems to me that you need more help with your mother. None of us are getting younger, and you have a big job with your mother. Can't the others help more?? Like take more turns with staying with your mother???

Because of the many issues with my only sibling, my brother, who is now passed away, I had sole responsibility for my mother, so I sympathize with you.

It was a bit cooler today in Napa. Supposed to be 95 tomorrow, but Sunday and Monday are going to be more like 105, Yuck!! I can't imagine trying to do laundry in such heat, Barbie. Who is the heck decided these new machines were a better solution???

Sheila, what you are looking for to measure your oxygen is a Pulse Oximeter.

We topped at 108° again Friday!
