Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Made it to Napa after a 10 hour drive. Actually, I did stop at a JCPenney's and got a haircut, but it was a mistake because I soon drove out of the cooler air into the hotter stuff west of San Francisco. My AC is blowing cold air, not out of the regular vents, but out of the defroster vent so very little of it actually hits me, hence, I got hotter and stickier and all the little bits of hair on my neck started itching like crazy. Got stuck in rush hour traffic and did not want to stop in the heat, so I was miserable. Got to my Napa RV spot and checked in about 7 pm. Son was going to pick me up, but I told him I needed a shower first, which felt wonderful. Rinsed all the loose hair from my newly shorn head and neck and got the rest of me much more comfortable, also!! Whew! (I get my hair cut a lot of times at JCPenney's at malls because it is easy to park there.)

Also, was really irritated by the drivers who saw my putting on my turn signal to change lanes as an invitation to speed up and stay slightly ahead of me in the nearby lane so I could not move over. So rude!! If they would just let me move over, they could get past me much more easily.

Also, Anne, I can see making dams out of just earth if they are small ones and not very tall, but I think huge ones like the Oroville Dam need something stronger, like rock and cement!! Did you know how builders of cathedrals in the middle ages knew how tall they could build walls and such??? They kept building them taller until one or two fell down, and then they said, well that was as big as they could build them!!!

Lyn, the proposed date by the CARB (California Air ResiurcesvBoard) is NOT 2023, it's 2035 and an update is pushing it out further. It's not law, but rule by CARB.

Oh Beth, now I understand! People were talking about rinsing sinus's, when you are talking about Inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength training ! I use a device called The Breather, which has higher ratings than AirPhysio! Been using it off and on about a year. Totally different principal and method than sinus rinsing, but , in fact, I do both- NeilMed rinse morning and night and IMST twice daily. . Doesn't clear the lungs, but strengthens muscles for inhaling and exhaling. Lots of interesting articles . Often used by athletes to enhance oxygen uptake by having stronger breathing muscles. Just start on lowest setting, whatever device you choose, but be consistent. I'm convinced it helped keep me breathing strong enough to not need hospital last Februaru when I had C!

West of San Francisco? . . . Hrm. I guess you must be a stronger swimmer than I am. . . and what ever do you do to get your Class C to float?

Sorry, couldn't help myself. It has been a very trying week. Joe has had/is having a series of "complications" from his recent surgery, and I am running low on cope-ability.

Also, Anne, I can see making dams out of just earth if they are small ones and not very tall, but I think huge ones like the Oroville Dam need something stronger, like rock and cement!! Oroville dam was completed in 1968. It is an "engineered" dam, it isn't just dirt piled up. On the other hand, I doubt that, today, an earth-fill dam of Oroville's height would be allowed to be built , particularly in California, particularly in the location of a known earthquake fault (I don't think they realized the fault was there, back when the dam was built). Such is/was the hubris of the ruling class.

At the time of the dam's completion, May of 1968, it was stated that Oroville dam "could" easily last 50 years before it might need to be de-commissioned.

Even I can do the math on that one.

There are other, ongoing, problems/controversies about the dam today - if anyone is interested, Google "Oroville dam green spot". Lots of "interesting reading" to be found. :?

I try not to think about these things too much, or I won't sleep much at night.

Thanks for your post, Judy.

Thanks, Velda. That's what I was hoping to hear. I think the best about this is the one device can last a long, long time and nothing else is needed. It's interesting that the Breather is one I was reading about, also. I'll pick one and order and promise to use it regularly.

No bail money needed, especially since I just remembered to pay my fee to the Toll Road in Orange County. Just hate these toll roads that you drive through the gates and then have to pay tolls later!!

And frankly, west of SFO would have felt good that afternoon. Glug, glug!!

And from now on in California I will not turn on turn signals if I want to change lanes since that just gives a warning to those drivers who like to cut you off and prevent big vehicles from getting in front of them.
